A theoretical investigation has been made of nonlinear propagation of ultra-low-frequency electromagnetic waves in a magnetized two fluid (negatively charged dust and positively charged ion fluids) dusty plasma. These are modified Alfvén waves for small value of and are modified magnetosonic waves for large , where is the angle between the directions of the external magnetic field and the wave propagation. A nonlinear evolution equation for the wave magnetic field, which is known as Korteweg de Vries (K-dV) equation and which admits a stationary solitary wave solution, is derived by the reductive perturbation method. The effects of external magnetic field and dust characteristics on the amplitude and the width of these solitary structures are examined. The implications of these results to some space and astrophysical plasma systems, especially to planetary ring-systems, are briefly mentioned. By introducing a new type of solutions, called the multiple-mode wave solutions which can be expressed in nonlinear superposition of single-mode waves with different speeds, we investigate the two-mode wave solutions in Degasperis-Procesi equation and two cases are derived. The explicit expressions for the two-mode waves as well as the existence conditions are presented. It is shown that the two-mode waves may be the nonlinear combinations of many types of single-mode waves, such as periodic waves, solJtons, compactons, etc., and more complicated multiple-mode waves can be obtained if higher order or more single-mode waves are taken into consideration. It is pointed out that the two-mode wave solutions can be employed to display the typical mechanism of the interactions between different single-mode waves.  相似文献

The dissipative nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a forcing item is derived by using of multiple scales analysis and perturbation method as a mathematical model of describing envelope solitary Rossby waves with dissipation effect and external forcing in rotational stratified fluids. By analyzing the evolution of amplitude of envelope solitary Rossby waves, it is found that the shear of basic flow, Brunt-Vaisala frequency and β effect are important factors in forming the envelope solitary Rossby waves. By employing Jacobi elliptic function expansion method and Hirota's direct method, the analytic solutions of dissipative nonlinear Schrödinger equation and forced nonlinear Schrödinger equation are derived, respectively. With the help of these solutions, the effects of dissipation and external forcing on the evolution of envelope solitary Rossby wave are also discussed in detail. The results show that dissipation causes slowly decrease of amplitude of envelope solitary Rossby waves and slowly increase of width, while it has no effect on the propagation speed and different types of external forcing can excite the same envelope solitary Rossby waves. It is notable that dissipation and different types of external forcing have certain influence on the carrier frequency of envelope solitary Rossby waves.  相似文献

Phase coherent interactions between drift waves and zonal flows are considered. For this purpose, mode coupling equations are derived by using a two-fluid model and the guiding center drifts. The equations are then Fourier analyzed to deduce the nonlinear dispersion relations. The latter depict the excitation of zonal flows due to the ponderomotive forces of drift waves. The flute-like zonal flows with insignificant density fluctuations have faster growth rates than those which have a finite wavelength along the magnetic field direction. The relevance of our investigation to drift wave driven zonal flows in computer simulations and laboratory plasmas is discussed. Received 5 April 2002 Published online 28 June 2002  相似文献

We discuss the early history of an important field of “sturm and drang” in modern theory of nonlinear waves. It is demonstrated how scientific demand resulted in independent and almost simultaneous publications by many different authors on modulation instability, a phenomenon resulting in a variety of nonlinear processes such as envelope solitons, envelope shocks, freak waves, etc. Examples from water wave hydrodynamics, electrodynamics, nonlinear optics, and convection theory are given.  相似文献

Rogue waves are a class of nonlinear waves with extreme amplitudes, which usually appear suddenly and disappear without any trace. Recently, the parity-time ($\mathcal {PT}$)-symmetric vector rogue waves (RWs) of multi-component nonlinear Schrödinger equation ($n$-NLSE) are usually derived by the methods of integrable systems. In this paper, we utilize the multi-stage physics-informed neural networks (MS-PINNs) algorithm to derive the data-driven $\mathcal {PT}$ symmetric vector RWs solution of coupled NLS system in elliptic and X-shapes domains with nonzero boundary condition. The results of the experiment show that the multi-stage physics-informed neural networks are quite feasible and effective for multi-component nonlinear physical systems in the above domains and boundary conditions.  相似文献

Linear and nonlinear ion acoustic waves are studied in unmagnetized electron-ion quantum plasmas. Sagdeev potential approach is employed to describe the nonlinear quantum ion acoustic waves. It is found that density dips structures are formed in the subsonic region in a electron-ion quantum plasma case. The amplitude of the nonlinear structures remains constant and the width is broadened with the increase in the quantization of the system. However, the nonlinear wave amplitude is reduced with the increase in the wave Mach number. The numerical results are also presented.  相似文献

In this paper,we investigate a(2+1)-dimensional nonlinear equation model for Rossby waves in stratified fluids. We derive a forced Zakharov–Kuznetsov(ZK)–Burgers equation from the quasigeostrophic potential vorticity equation with dissipation and topography under the generalized beta effect, and by utilizing temporal and spatial multiple scale transform and the perturbation expansion method.Through the analysis of this model,it is found that the generalized beta effect and basic topography can induce nonlinear waves, and slowly varying topography is an external impact factor for Rossby waves.Additionally, the conservation laws for the mass and energy of solitary waves are analyzed.Eventually, the solitary wave solutions of the forced ZK–Burgers equation are obtained by the simplest equation method as well as the new modified ansatz method.Based on the solitary wave solutions obtained,we discuss the effects of dissipation and slowly varying topography on Rossby solitary waves.  相似文献

In this paper, the rogue waves of the higher-order dispersive nonlinear Schrödinger (HDNLS) equation are investigated, which describes the propagation of ultrashort optical pulse in optical fibers. The rogue wave solutions of HDNLS equation are constructed by using the modified Darboux transformation method. The explicit first and second-order rogue wave solutions are presented under the plane wave seeding solution background. The nonlinear dynamics and properties of rogue waves are discussed by analyzing the obtained rational solutions. The influence of little perturbation ε on the rogue waves is discussed with the help of graphical simulation.  相似文献

We study the effect of various perturbations on the fundamental rational solution of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLSE). This solution describes generic nonlinear wave phenomena in the deep ocean, including the notorious rogue waves. It also describes light pulses in optical fibres. We find that the solution can survive at least three types of perturbations that are often used in the physics of nonlinear waves. We show that the rational solution remains rational and localized in each direction, thus representing a modified rogue wave.  相似文献

In this paper, we first obtain a bilinear form with small perturbation u_0 for a generalized(3+1)-dimensional nonlinear wave equation in liquid with gas bubbles. Based on that, a new bilinear B?cklund transformation which consists of four bilinear equations and involves seven arbitrary parameters is constructed. After that, by applying a new symbolic computation method, we construct the higher order rogue waves with controllable center to the generalized(3+1)-dimensional nonlinear wave equation. The rogue waves present new structure, which contain two free parametersα and β. The dynamic properties of the higher order rogue waves are demonstrated graphically. The graphs tell that the parameters α and β can control the center of the rogue waves.  相似文献

The problem of nonlinear variable charge dust acoustic waves in a dusty plasma with trapped ions is revisited. The correct non-isothermal ion charging current is presented for the first time based on the orbit motion limited (OML) approach. The variable dust charge is then expressed in terms of the Lambert function and we take advantage of this new transcendental function to investigate nonlinear localized dust acoustic waves in a charge varying dusty plasma with trapped ions more rigorously.  相似文献

With the help of the similarity transformation connected the variable-coefficient (3+1)-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equation with the standard nonlinear Schrödinger equation, we firstly obtain first-order and second-order rogue wave solutions. Then, we investigate the controllable behaviors of these rogue waves in the hyperbolic dispersion decreasing profile. Our results indicate that the integral relation between the accumulated time T and the real time t is the basis to realize the control and manipulation of propagation behaviors of rogue waves, such as sustainment and restraint. We can modulate the value T0 to achieve the sustained and restrained spatiotemporal rogue waves. Moreover, the controllability for position of sustainment and restraint for spatiotemporal rogue waves can also be realized by setting different values of X0.  相似文献

The modulation instability of continuous waves for a system of four coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equations, two of which are in the unstable regime, is studied. In earlier studies, plane or continuous waves for a system of two coupled, nonlinear Schrödinger equations is shown to exhibit modulation instability (MI), even if both modes are in the normal dispersion regime, provided that the coefficient of cross phase modulation (XPM) is larger than that of self phase modulation (SPM). Requirements for MI in this system of four coupled, nonlinear Schrödinger equations can be relaxed. MI can occur even if the magnitude of XPM is less than that of SPM, and the magnitude of instability is generally larger than that of each mode alone. The implications for parametric process and wavelength exchange in optical physics with two pump waves are discussed.  相似文献

The cubic-quintic nonlinear Schrödinger equation (CQNLS) plays important parts in the optical fiber and the nuclear hydrodynamics. By using the homogeneous balance principle, the bell type, kink type, algebraic solitary waves, and trigonometric traveling waves for the cubic-quintic nonlinear Schrödinger equation with variable coefficients (vCQNLS) are derived with the aid of a set of subsidiary high-order ordinary differential equations (sub-equations for short). The method used in this paper might help one to derive the exact solutions for the other high-order nonlinear evolution equations, and shows the new application of the homogeneous balance principle.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to the study of the nonlinear interaction of the waves generated by stimulated Raman scattering in plasma. The influence of nonlinear interaction of plasma wave with plasma electrons on the sum of action densities of waves generated by the laser wave is solved. The electron acceleration in the forward and backward wave fields is described. The change of the electric field of the quasimode of forward and backward plasma waves of Raman scattering given by trapping of plasma particles is calculated. Numerical results are calculated for typical parameters of the PALS experiment.  相似文献

We report on the experimental observation of optical phase conjugation using surface plasma waves in two different configurations: one involving four surface plasma waves and the other one involving two surface pump waves and bulk probe and conjugate waves. The major nonlinear contribution comes from heating of the metal film. In a related experiment, we have also observed the coupling of a bulk probe wave to the corresponding surface wave through the grating created by two counter-propagating surface plasma waves. In this case, we could observe the creation of surface acoustical waves.  相似文献

It is shown that resonant nonlinear interactions between the magnetic-field aligned right-hand circularly polarized electromagnetic (CPEM) electron-cyclotron waves and electrons can produce electron temperature anisotropy due to the stochastic electron heating by waves in magnetized plasmas. The present result can thus account for the simultaneous presence of CPEM waves and an anisotropic electron temperature distribution in laboratory and space magnetoplasmas.  相似文献

Fully nonlinear propagation of ion-acoustic solitary waves in an unmagnetized electron-positron-ion plasma is investigated. A more realistic situation is considered in which electrons interact with the wave potential during its evolution and, follow the vortex-like excavated trapped distribution. The basic properties of large amplitude solitary waves are studied by deriving an energy integral equation involving Sagdeev potential. It is shown that effects of such electron behavior and positron concentration change the maximum values of the Mach number and amplitude for which solitary waves can exist. The small amplitude limit is also investigated by expanding the Sagdeev potential to include third-order nonlinearity of electric potential. In this case, exact analytical solution is obtained which is related to the contribution of the resonant electron to the electron density. It is shown from both highly and weakly nonlinear analysis that the plasma system under consideration supports only compressive solitary waves.  相似文献

In this paper, we present the (1 + 1)-dimensional inhomogeneous nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equation, which describes propagation of optical waves in nonlinear optical systems exhibiting spatial inhomogeneity, inhomogeneous nonlinearity and gain or loss at the same time. Exact multi-soliton solutions are presented by the simple Darboux transformation based on the Lax Pair, and the exact one- and two-soliton solutions in explicit forms are also generated. As two examples, we consider two nonlinear optical systems. In the systems, based on the exact solutions, a series of interesting properties of optical waves are displayed.  相似文献
