Isomeric states in 210-215Ra have been populated by the decay of the compound nuclei 216,220Ra produced in irradiations of 204,208Pb with 12C at MeV. Published values for -ray energies and half-lives were confirmed for Ra. Our data for Ra agree with the -energies and the half-life measured at the RITU separator, University of Jyväskylä (Finland). Its decay pattern is complex. Two series of -rays of keV and keV were observed. A half-life of s was measured. The isomeric state is attributed to an 8 + state at E * = 2053.8keV. A previously unknown isomeric state was assigned to Ra. It has a half-life of ( ) and it decays by emission of -rays with energies of 396.1keV and 802.0keV. It is attributed to a 13/2 + state at E * = 1198.1 keV.PACS: 23.60. + e decay - 27.90. + b   相似文献

The fragmentation of 95 MeV/u 12C and 75 MeV/u 13C projectiles, interacting with natural targets of different elements (9Be, Cu and 197Au for 12C, and 9Be, Ni, and 181Ta for 13C) and of various thicknesses has been investigated at GANIL, using the doubly achromatic magnetic spectrometer LISE. The projectile-like fragments transmitted at 0 have been analysed using a silicon -E telescope and the -time-of-flight method. The results obtained with the thinnest targets are discussed in the scope of radioactive nuclear beam production. The fragment momentum distributions can be fitted by Gaussian peaks associated with exponential tails towards low momentum values. The experimental production yields are compared with the results of the simulation code LISE. It appears that this code reproduces satisfactorily the yields of nuclei close to the stability line, but strongly overestimates the production of very neutron-deficient nuclei.Received: 17 September 2002, Revised: 25 July 2003, Published online: 18 December 2003PACS: 25.70.Mn Projectile and target fragmentation - 29.90. + r Other topics in elementary-particle and nuclear physics experimental methods and instrumentation  相似文献

A new high-spin isomer in 215Bi, with a half-life of 36.9(6) s, has been identified at the PSB-ISOLDE on-line mass separator using the pulsed-release technique combined with the element selective RILIS source. A decay scheme of Bi was constructed and complemented with the low-spinstructure observed in Bi decay. The population of a cascade on top of the level in 215Poprovides evidence for Gamow-Teller -decay of the high-spin 215Bi isomer.Received: 3 March 2003, Revised: 10 June 2003, Published online: 9 October 2003PACS: 23.20.Lv transitions and level energies - 27.80.+w - 29.30.Kv X- and -ray spectroscopyV. The production of - and -mesons in elementary nucleon-nucleon collisions has been investigated at the synchrotrons CELSIUS, COSY and SATURNE. The high-quality proton beam with low emittance and small momentum spread permits to study the creation of these mesons very close to the kinematical threshold, where --due to the rapid growth of the phase space volume-- the total cross-section increases by orders of magnitude over a few MeV range of the excess energy. The magnitude and energy dependence of the total cross-section as well as the occupation distribution of the phase space serve as observables for investigating the mechanisms underlying the production processes and the interaction of mesons with nucleons. The precise data on the and creation via the reactions allowed to settle the general features of the - and -meson production and revealed the sensitivity of the mentioned observables to the nucleon-nucleon-meson final-state interaction. The particular production properties, like for example, the determination of the dominating exchange processes which lead to the excitation of the S 11 nucleon isobar in the case of creation, must be established by confrontation with other observables. The present status of this investigation with an emphasis on the results of the COSY-11 Collaboration is briefly presented. The available data are interpreted in view of the production mechanism and the meson-nucleon interaction.Received: 30 September 2002, Published online: 22 October 2003PACS: 13.60.Le Meson production - 13.75.-n Hadron-induced low- and intermediate-energy reactions and scattering (energy GeV) - 13.85.Lg Total cross sections - 25.40.-h Nucleon-induced reactions  相似文献

At the Cooler-Synchrotron COSY/Jülich polarized and unpolarized elastic proton-proton scattering has been investigated with the EDDA-Experiment in the energy range ( -2.5 GeV). By taking scattering data during the acceleration of the beam with a large-acceptance ( - ) detector, precise excitation functions for differential cross-section and analyzing power have been measured in small energy steps with consistent normalization with respect to luminosity and polarization. These data have helped to improve the determination of phase-shifts at higher energies and impose tight quantitative upper bounds on possible resonant contributions to pp elastic scattering, as they might arise from exotic 6-quark configurations. Recently, with polarized beam and target, the spin-correlation parameters , , and have been determined at 10 energies between 0.8 and 2.5 GeV. The observable has been measured the first time above 800 MeV and our results are in sharp contrast to phase-shift predictions at higher energies.Received: 30 September 2002, Published online: 22 October 2003PACS: 24.70. + s Polarization phenomena in reactions - 25.40.Cm Elastic proton scattering - 11.80.Et Partial-wave analysis - 13.75.Cs Nucleon-nucleon interactions (including antinucleons, deuterons, etc.)  相似文献

We present new experimental data on the highly excited levels in mercury using the two-step laser excitation and optogalvanic detection technique in conjunction with a RF discharge cell. The 6s7s 3S1 intermediate level has been accessed from the 6s6p 3P2 metastable level that is collisionally populated in the mercury discharge in the presence of a buffer gas at a pressure of about 1 Torr. Two beams fromtwo different dye lasers pumped with a common excimer laser were passed through the discharge cell containing mercury vapors. The first laser was tuned to 6s7s 3S1 level whereas the second laser was scanned covering the wavelength region between 544-458 nm. We have observed the 6snp 3P0 ( ), 6snp ( ), 6snp ( ) and 6snp ) Rydberg series. The 6snp Rydberg series to such high n-value has been reported for the first time. The first ionization potential of mercury is determined from the 6snp Rydberg series as 84184.15 0.05 cm-1. Some collisionally induced parity forbidden transitions have also been located that are identified as 6sns ( ) series.Received: 5 November 2003, Published online: 20 January 2004PACS: 31.50.-x Potential energy surfaces - 32.30.Jc Visible and ultraviolet spectra - 32.80.Rm Multiphoton ionization and excitation to highly excited states (e.g., Rydberg states)  相似文献

Model calculations were performed to interpret prompt fission neutron spectra (PFNS) of the 238 U(n, f) reaction for incident neutron energies -18 MeV. Pre-fission (pre-saddle) reaction neutron spectra were calculated with Hauser-Feshbach statistical model, 238 U fission and reaction cross-section data being described consistently. The increase of the cut-off energy of (n, nf) reaction neutron spectra with excitation energy of fissioning nucleus is described. For -9 MeV the low-energy PFNS component, which is due to the contribution of pre-fission (n, nf) neutrons, is compatible with measured data. Average energy of prefission (n, nf) neutrons is shown to be rather dependent on . For -18 MeV, a decrease of measured PFNS average neutron energies is interpreted. Spectra of neutrons, evaporated from fission fragments, were approximated as a sum of two Watt distributions. The reduced fission fragment velocity is assumed for the neutron emission during fragment acceleration. Several interpretations of observed soft neutron excess are investigated, i.e., possible uncertainties of emissive fission contributions and additional neutron source. We claim the soft neutron excess cannot be attributed to the pre-saddle neutrons contribution.Received: 3 February 2003, Revised: 24 April 2003, Published online: 9 October 2003PACS: 25.85.Ec Neutron-induced fission  相似文献

Differential cross-sections for exclusive 16O(e,epp)14C processes are computed within a distorted-wave framework which includes central short-range correlations and intermediate excitations. The cross-sections are compared to high-resolution data from the MAMI facility at Mainz for a central energy and momentum transfer of MeV and MeV, respectively. A fair agreement between the numerical calculations and data is reached when using spectroscopic information extracted from a 15N C experiment. The comparison between the calculations and the data provides additional evidence that short-range correlations exclusively affect nucleon pairs with a small center-of-mass momentum residing in a relative S state.Received: 3 September 2003, Revised: 2 December 2003, Published online: 18 June 2004PACS: 24.10.-i Nuclear-reaction models and methods - 21.60.-n Nuclear-structure models and methods - 25.30.Fj Inelastic electron scattering to continuum  相似文献

The production rates and substructure of jets have been studied in charged current deep inelastic e + p scattering for Q 2 > 200 GeV2 with the ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated luminosity of 110.5 pb-1. Inclusive jet cross sections are presented for jets with transverse energies GeV and pseudorapidities in the range . Dijet cross sections are presented for events with a jet having GeV and a second jet having GeV. Measurements of the mean subjet multiplicity, , of the inclusive jet sample are presented. Predictions based on parton-shower Monte Carlo models and next-to-leading-order QCD calculations are compared to the measurements. The value of , determined from at for jets with GeV, is . The mean subjet multiplicity as a function of Q 2 is found to be consistent with that measured in NC DIS.Received: 5 June 2003, Published online: 10 October 2003  相似文献

The very recently observed D*sJ(2463) meson is described as a bound state in a unitarised meson model, owing its existence to the strong OZI-allowed coupling to the nearby S-wave threshold. By the same non-perturbative mechanism, the narrow axial-vector Ds1(2536) resonance shows up as a quasi-bound-state partner embedded in the continuum. With the same model and parameters, it is also shown that the preliminary broad 1 + D1(2400) resonance and the established narrow 1 + D1(2420) may be similar partners, as a result of the strong OZI-allowed coupling to the nearby S-wave threshold. The continuum bound states D1(2420) and Ds1(2536) are found to be mixtures of 33% and 67% , whereas their partners D1(2400) and D*sJ(2463) have more or less the opposite -state content, but additionally with some or admixture, respectively. The employed mechanism also reproduces the ratio of the KL-KS mass difference and the KS width, by describing KL as a bound state embedded in the continuum. The models results for states containing one b quark are also discussed.Received: 7 June 2003, Revised: 20 October 2003, Published online: 18 December 2003PACS: 12.40.Yx, 14.40.Aq, 14.40.Lb, 13.25.Es, 13.25.Ft, 13.75.Lb  相似文献

A folding potential describing the -scattering on 16O over a broad energy range 25.8-146.0 MeV is constructed on the basis of -like cluster and unclustered-nucleon configurations of 16O. The resulting potential does not need any renormalization to fit the angular distribution of elastic cross-sections. The effects of the repulsive part of - and -nucleon interactions are investigated. The analysis suggests that both the - repulsive potential and the unclustered nucleonic configuration in the target are important to describe the scattering data over a broad range of incident energies. The root-mean-square radius for the 16O nucleus is deduced.Received: 5 December 2002, Published online: 9 October 2003PACS: 25.55.Ci Elastic and inelastic scattering - 24.10.Ht Optical and diffraction models - 21.60.Gx Cluster models  相似文献

Tau leptons produced in the reaction at energies close to the mass are studied using their semileptonic decays to , , or . The real and imaginary components of both the anomalous weak magnetic dipole moment and the CP-violating anomalous weak electric dipole moment, , , and , are measured simultaneously by means of a likelihood fit built from the full differential cross section. The isotopes 251No and 253No were produced in nuclear reactions 206Pb(48Ca,3n)251No and 207Pb (48Ca,2n)253No. Radioactive decay of these isotopes and their daughter products has been investigated by means of - and - - spectroscopy.
