This paper gives a summary account, with minimal or no proofs, first of some results which characterize order bounded linear operators which are sums of lattice homomorphisms, or more generally of orthomorphisms; and secondly of theorems concerning extensions of vector lattice homomorphisms (theorems of Hahn-Banach type if you will). In all cases we assume that domain and range are vector lattices and that the range is Dedekind complete. The results vary from historical (pre-1940) to recent (1990). The most recent work, on sums of lattice homomorphisms, is covered in §1 and the more classical work on extension theorems is dealt with in §2.  相似文献

In this paper we obtain general infinite dimensional inertia theorems for linear pencils in Hilbert space which cover previously known results for the finite dimensional case and for block weighted shifts. In this paper, a new two-step iterative scheme with errors is introduced for two asymptotically quasi-nonexpansive nonself-mappings. Several convergence theorems are established in real Banach spaces and real uniformly convex Banach spaces. Our theorems improve and extend the results due to Thianwan [S. Thianwan, Common fixed point of new iterations for two asymptotically nonexpansive nonself-mappings in a Banach space, J. Comput. Appl. Math. 224 (2009) 685-695] and many other papers.  相似文献

Various theorems on lifting strong commutants of unbounded subnormal (as well as formally subnormal) operators are proved. It is shown that the strong symmetric commutant of a closed symmetric operatorS lifts to the strong commutant of some tight selfadjoint extension ofS. Strong symmetric commutants of orthogonal sums of subnormal operators are investigated. Examples of (unbounded) irreducible subnormals, pure subnormals with rich strong symmetric commutants and cyclic subnormals with highly nontrivial strong commutants are discussed.This work was supported by the KBN grant # 2P03A 041 10.  相似文献

Liouville-type theorems are powerful tools in partial differential equations. Boundedness assumptions of solutions are often imposed in deriving such Liouville-type theorems. In this paper, we establish some Liouville-type theorems without the boundedness assumption of nonnegative solutions to certain classes of elliptic equations and systems. Using a rescaling technique and doubling lemma developed recently in Polá?ik et al. (2007) [20], we improve several Liouville-type theorems in higher order elliptic equations, some semilinear equations and elliptic systems. More specifically, we remove the boundedness assumption of the solutions which is required in the proofs of the corresponding Liouville-type theorems in the recent literature. Moreover, we also investigate the singularity and decay estimates of higher order elliptic equations.  相似文献

Glivenko-type theorems for substructural logics (over FL) are comprehensively studied in the paper [N. Galatos, H. Ono, Glivenko theorems for substructural logics over FL, Journal of Symbolic Logic 71 (2006) 1353-1384]. Arguments used there are fully algebraic, and based on the fact that all substructural logics are algebraizable (see [N. Galatos, H. Ono, Algebraization, parametrized local deduction theorem and interpolation for substructural logics over FL, Studia Logica 83 (2006) 279-308] and also [N. Galatos, P. Jipsen, T. Kowalski, H. Ono, Residuated Lattices: An Algebraic Glimpse at Substructural Logics, in: Studies in Logic and the Foundations of Mathematics, vol. 151, Elsevier, 2007] for the details).As a complementary work to the algebraic approach developed in [N. Galatos, H. Ono, Glivenko theorems for substructural logics over FL, Journal of Symbolic Logic 71 (2006) 1353-1384], we present here a concise, proof-theoretic approach to Glivenko theorems for substructural logics. Let X be a non-empty set and F:X×XX be a given mapping. An element (x,y)∈X×X is said to be a coupled fixed point of the mapping F if F(x,y)=x and F(y,x)=y. In this paper, we consider the case when X is a complete metric space endowed with a partial order. We define generalized Meir-Keeler type functions and we prove some coupled fixed point theorems under a generalized Meir-Keeler contractive condition. Some applications of our obtained results are given. The presented theorems extend and complement the recent fixed point theorems due to Bhaskar and Lakshmikantham [T. Gnana Bhaskar, V. Lakshmikantham, Fixed point theorems in partially ordered metric spaces and applications, Nonlinear Anal. 65 (2006) 1379-1393].  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to discuss the existence and uniqueness of fixed point in a partially ordered Banach space. Based on the characterizations of reproducing cones, some fixed point theorems for nonlinear operators are proved. In the present paper, we prove some Krasnosel’skii-Leray-Schauder type fixed point theorems for weak topology. Some fixed point theorems for the sum of two weakly sequentially continuous mappings are also presented. Our results extend and improve on ones from several earlier works.  相似文献

In this work, we present some new versions of fixed point theorems for nonexpansive maps and 1-set contractions defined on closed, convex, not necessarily bounded subsets of Banach spaces. Our proofs rely on a compactness result for an approximate fixed point set. The Kuratowski measure of noncompactness is used throughout. To illustrate the results obtained, some applications to Banach algebras and Hammerstein integral equations are provided.  相似文献

Using Scott Brown's techniques, J. Eschmeier and B. Prunaru showed that if T is the restriction of a decomposable (or S-decomposable) operator B to an invariant subspace such that (T) is dominating in C/S for some closed set S, then T has an invariant subspace. In the present paper we prove various invariant subspace theorems by weakening the decomposability condition on B and strengthening the thickness condition on (T).The research is supported by a grant from the Institute for Studies in Theoretical Physics and Mathematics (IRAN).  相似文献

We generalize several results on bounded analytic interpolation of Fitzgerald and Horn, which work by majorization by positive definite kernels, to the cases of several complex variables and operator-valued interpolation. Let B be a unital commutative semi-simple Banach algebra. We study endomorphisms of B which are also quasicompact operators or Riesz operators. Clearly compact and power compact endomorphisms are Riesz and hence quasicompact. Several general theorems about quasicompact endomorphisms are proved, and these results are then applied to the question of when quasicompact or Riesz endomorphisms of certain algebras are necessarily power compact.  相似文献

We show that Rockafellar's maximal monotonicity and maximal cyclical monotonicity theorems for subdifferentials can be reformulated and proved for the family of -subdifferentials of a proper, lower semicontinuous, convex function defined on a normed space. We also show that the subdifferential map of a lower semicontinuous convex function defined on a Banach space is bothX andX* locally maximal monotone.  相似文献
