We demonstrate the presence of parity-time (PT) symmetry for the non-Hermitian two-state Hamiltonian of a dissipative microwave billiard in the vicinity of an exceptional point (EP). The shape of the billiard depends on two parameters. The Hamiltonian is determined from the measured resonance spectrum on a fine grid in the parameter plane. After applying a purely imaginary diagonal shift to the Hamiltonian, its eigenvalues are either real or complex conjugate on a curve, which passes through the EP. An appropriate basis choice reveals its PT symmetry. Spontaneous symmetry breaking occurs at the EP. 相似文献

The one-loop effective action of QED is calculated by the Schwinger method in Krein space quantization. We show that the effective action is naturally finite and regularized. It also coincides with the renormalized solution which was derived by Schwinger. 相似文献

We study the photoproduction of r \rho -mesons in a model of hidden local symmetry. For this purpose, the r \rho -meson is introduced as a hidden-gauge boson in a non-linear sigma model. For charged r \rho -meson photoproduction, the model takes into account the r \rho -meson magnetic moments from the three-point vertex in the kinetic terms. We show that the magnetic interaction of the charged
r \rho -meson has a significant effect on the total cross-sections through the r \rho -meson exchange process, which is proportional to the energy of the photon. The t -channel dominance may be used for the study of structures of various unstable particles. 相似文献

In this paper we present a new method for constructing theories of gravitation which exhibit spontaneously broken conformal symmetry. It does not require introducing nongeometric terms (i.e., auxiliary gauge fields or potential terms for the conformal field) into the Lagrangian. It is based on a theory which initially is locally both Lorentz invariant and Weyl gauge invariant inD dimensions. It is shown that, if the field Lagrangian contains terms quadratic in curvature in addition to the Ricci scalar, then the field equations allow both the dilation field and some connection components to have nonvanishing vacuum values. Both Lorentz and Weyl symmetries are thereby broken simultaneously. 相似文献

Higgsless models are an attempt to achieve a breaking of the electroweak symmetry via boundary conditions at the end-points of a fifth dimension compactified on an interval, as an alternative to the usual Higgs mechanism. There is no physical Higgs scalar in the spectrum and the perturbative unitarity violation scale is delayed via the exchange of massive spin-1 KK resonances. The correct mass spectrum is reproduced in a model in warped space, which inherits a custodial symmetry from a left–right gauge symmetry in the bulk. Phenomenological challenges as well as collider signatures are presented. From the AdS/CFT perspective, this model appears as a weakly coupled dual to walking technicolour models. I have applied multiple-scale perturbation theory to a generalized complex PT-symmetric Mathieu equation in order to find the stability boundaries between bounded and unbounded solutions. The analysis suggests that the non-Hermitian parameter present in the equation can be used to control the shape and curvature of these boundaries. Although this was suggested earlier by several authors, analytic formulas for the boundary curves were not given. This paper is a first attempt to fill this gap in the theory. 相似文献

We investigate the fractional Schrödinger equation with a periodic ‐symmetric potential. In the inverse space, the problem transfers into a first‐order nonlocal frequency‐delay partial differential equation. We show that at a critical point, the band structure becomes linear and symmetric in the one‐dimensional case, which results in a nondiffracting propagation and conical diffraction of input beams. If only one channel in the periodic potential is excited, adjacent channels become uniformly excited along the propagation direction, which can be used to generate laser beams of high power and narrow width. In the two‐dimensional case, there appears conical diffraction that depends on the competition between the fractional Laplacian operator and the ‐symmetric potential. This investigation may find applications in novel on‐chip optical devices.

Symmetry restoring interactions are constructed for pairing and cranking Hamiltonians in a deformed single particle basis. The structure of the interactions is explicitly shown and the effective Hamiltonian is treated in the framework of a modified BCS + RPA approach. In this paper, we have studied the unified symmetry of a nonholonomic
mechanical system in phase space. The definition and the criterion
of a unified symmetry of the nonholonomic mechanical system in
phase space are given under general infinitesimal transformations
of groups in which time is variable. The Noether conserved
quantity, the generalized Hojman conserved quantity and the Mei
conserved quantity are obtained from the unified symmetry. An
