The superfluid-Mott insulator phase transition in a Bose-Einstein condensate of neutral atoms with doubly degenerate internal ground states in an optical lattice is theoretically investigated. The optical lattice is created by two counterpropagating linearly polarized laser beams with the angle theta between the polarization vectors (lin-angle-lin configuration). The phase diagram of the system and the critical values of the parameters are worked out. It is shown that the sign of the detuning plays an important role and that there is a strong suppression of the Mott transition in the case of blue detuning. Varying the laser intensity and/or the angle theta one can manipulate the Mott insulator to superfluid quantum phase transition as well as prepare the condensate in physically distinguishable "ferromagnetic" and "antiferromagnetic" superfluid states. 相似文献

We investigate the Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC, superfluidity) of particle-hole pairs in ultracold fermionic atoms with repulsive interactions and arbitrary polarization, which are trapped within optical lattices. In the strongly repulsive limit, the dynamics of particle-hole pairs can be described by a hard-core Bose-Hubbard model. The insulator-superfluid and charge-density-wave- (CDW) superfluid phase transitions can be induced by decreasing and increasing the potential depths with controlling the trapping laser intensity, respectively. The parameter and polarization dependence of the critical temperatures for the ordered states (BEC and/or CDW) are discussed simultaneously. 相似文献

基于扩展的自旋反转模型,对短外腔偏振旋转光反馈下1550 nm垂直腔面发射激光器的动力学特性进行了数值仿真和理论分析.研究结果表明:增加反馈强度会导致多个偏振开关现象出现,中等反馈强度下呈现丰富的动力学状态,譬如单周期、倍周期、准周期及混沌态,增加注入电流使Y方向线偏振模的工作区域被压缩;随着反馈延迟时间的增加,在弱光反馈时,偏振模跳变现象将会以特定的频率发生,施加中等的反馈强度将会导致模式跳变的频率增加,并且出现各种新的动力学状态,包括拍频单周期、拍频脉冲包络、拍频准周期和拍频混沌态.新动力学行为的出现是由于短外腔区激光器的动力学特性对相位变化非常敏感,从而使外腔模式间的拍频效应发挥了关键作用.此外还发现各种动力学状态之间会伴随模式间的跳变而发生相互跳变. 相似文献

We theoretically investigate the synchronization performance of polarization mode of two unidirectionally coupled vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) and propose an encryption scheme, where the phase of the polarization states of the master laser are modulated. It is demonstrated that high synchronization can be achieved between corresponding polarization components of the master laser and the slave laser. Moreover, two distinct synchronization regimes exist, complete synchronization and injection locking. The transmitted digital information is successfully recovered at each polarization branch of the slaver laser. The results open an opportunity for multichannel chaotic communication by utilizing different polarization components in single-mode or multi-transverse-mode VCSELs. 相似文献

Optical properties of polarization-dependent geometric phase elements with partially polarized light

The behavior of geometric phase elements illuminated with partially polarized monochromatic beams is investigated both theoretically and experimentally. The element discussed in this paper is composed of wave plates with π-retardation and a space-variant orientation angle. We found that a beam emerging from such an element comprises two polarization orders; right-and left-handed circularly polarized states with conjugate geometric phase modification. This phase equals twice the orientation angle of the space-variant wave plate comprising the element. Apart from the two polarization orders, the emerging beam coherence polarization matrix includes a “vectorial interference matrix” which contains information concerning the correlation between the two orthogonal, circularly polarized portions of the incident beam. In this paper we measure this correlation by a simple interference experiment. In addition, we found that the equivalent mutual intensity of the emerging beam is modulated according to the geometric phase induced by the element. Other interesting phenomena concerning propagation will be discussed theoretically and demonstrated experimentally. The experiment made use of a spherical geometric phase element that was realized by use of a space-variant subwavelength grating illuminated with CO2 laser radiation of 10.6 μm wavelength. 相似文献

Starting from the fact, that different rotations can lead to states with the same polarization but different phases the expressions of intensity and polarization of the forward diffracted beam after a Laue-case single crystal neutron interferometer are derived for the general case of phase shifts and spin rotations in both beam paths of the interferometer. The spin polarization of excited triplet states caused by mutual annihilation of triplet states was detected by time-resolved electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) of triplet excitons in two molecular crystals, anthracene-tetracyanobenzene and phenazine-tetracyanoquinodimenthane. The time profile of the two EPR lines of the triplet exciton spectrum have been studied in the time range up to 200 μs after a laser pulse. Besides the initial polarization of the lines, due to intersystem crossing, a long-lasting polarization process is detected which is attributed to the triplet-triplet annihilation. The investigation of the dependence of the phenomenon on the intensity of the light pulse and on the orientation of the crystals in the magnetic field is presented. 相似文献

We investigate the formation of high-order polarization vortex spatial solitons. The high-order polarization vortex solitons have novel polarization states which are different from fundamental polarization vortex solitons and have rotational symmetry only in intensity. It is proved that the polarization vortex solitons cannot carry vortex phase. The existence domain and dynamical characteristic of these high-order polarization vortex solitons in Bessel optical lattices are discussed in detail. 相似文献

改进了利用双旋转波片方法进行偏振成像的实验装置,提出了通过一次测量获得目标偏振度和强度编码图像的方法.运用光强法对激光遥感偏振成像装置的光学元件进行调整,通过斯托克斯和穆勒矩阵在偏振光学元件中的应用,给出了相应光学元件的调整原理、方法及过程.分析了激光器中心波长变动、偏振片的角度误差和波片的相位延迟及角度误差对整个系统的影响.结果表明,由偏振片角度和波片角度误差造成的出射光斯托克斯误差较小,不超过0.001,可以忽略;由波片相位延迟不精确造成的误差在0.02左右,所以应采用延迟精度较高的波片;激光器中心波长变化的影响最大,不能忽略,必须加滤光片使接收光的中心波长控制在808nm;镀有铝膜望远镜对接收到的散射光偏振度影响较小,适于激光遥感偏振成像系统的应用. 相似文献

A method is proposed to solve the problem of direction discrimination for laser feedback interferometers.By vibrating the feedback mirror with a small-amplitude and high-frequency sine wave,laser intensity is modulated accordingly.The modulation amplitude can be extracted using a phase sensitive detector(PSD).When the feedback mirror moves,the PSD output shows a quasi-sine waveform similar to a laser intensity interference fringe but with a phase difference of approximately ±π/2.If the movement direction of the feedback mirror changes,the phase difference sign reverses.Therefore,the laser feedback interferometer offers a potential application in displacement measurement with a resolution of 1/8 wavelength and in-time direction discrimination.Without using optical components such as polarization beam splitters and wave plates,the interferometer is very simple,easy to align,and less costly. 相似文献

Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy(LIBS) is an important technique which is widely used to analyze element composition. In order to improve the sensitivity of LIBS, much effort has been made to enhance the spectral intensity of LIBS by proposing a number of methods. In addition, we find that laser polarization has great influence on the emission intensity of femtosecond LIBS. By comparing the emission intensity of femtosecond LIBS in the circular polarization with that in the linear polarization, the spectral intensity in the case of circular polarization is stronger than that in the case of linear polarization. Moreover, this phenomenon is more obvious as laser energy increases. The polarization plays an important role in LIBS signal intensity. Based on the observation, the enhanced mechanism of the laser polarization for the spectral intensity is discussed in this paper, which will be helpful in spectral analysis and component analysis. 相似文献

The inelastic optical scattering process leading to the generation of the recently reported new molecular state (being stable at 100 K) of sodium nitroprusside is investigated. The process is a strong function of the phase coherence (Glauber state) of the incident light.-With laser light of 20–200 mW/cm2 the yield of new molecular states rapidly reaches saturation, about 50% of all molecules of an extended target. The generation process is a linear function of the product: light intensity × illumination time. The coherent yield function follows a very simple law which, however, is different from predictions of linear or non-linear optics. It is a strong function of the laser frequency (range at least (4900±400) Å) and of the optical polarization relative to the oriented molecules. — The yield obtained with chaotic light is one order of magnitude smaller and weaker dependent upon frequency and polarization. The chaotic yield function depends exponentially upon the light intensity and illumination time in a way as to be expected from linear optics. — The coherently generated new molecular states can be depopulated by chaotic light (or by thermal agitation at elevated temperatures) and coherently regenerated arbitrarily often. There is further evidence that the recently reported properties of the new state are predominantly determined by the internal molecular structure. The lifetimeτ?107 s at 100 K. 相似文献

给出一种分析二阶非线性级联效应的解析方法,对Ⅱ型二次谐波产生的非线性级联效应进行了详细的理论研究和分析。结果表明倍频晶体中正交输入两个振幅不相等的基波分量时,在近相位匹配下二阶非线性级联效应能够产生大的相移。利用本文的解析方法可以对任意二阶非线性相移产生的过程进行优化,从而以最小的需求输入功率来获得特定的相移。还对由非线性相移诱导的且与光强有关的偏振旋转效应和一种基于偏振旋转效应的全光偏振开关进行了分析和讨论。本文的结果对于建立一种基于Ⅱ型倍频晶体中非线性相移诱导偏振旋转效应的新全固化被动锁模飞秒激光装置具有十分重要的意义。 相似文献
