Spectral Analysis of Differential Operators with Involution and Operator Groups

We study the spectral properties of differential operators with involution of the following two types: operators with involution multiplying the potential and operators with involution multiplying the derivative. The similar operator method is used to obtain a refined asymptotics of the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of such operators. These asymptotics are used to derive asymptotic formulas for the operator groups generated by the operators in question. These operator groups can be used to describe mild solutions of the corresponding mixed problems.

Asymptotically Spectral Periodic Differential Operators

In this paper, we investigate spectral expansion for the asymptotically spectral differential operators generated in L₂^m (?∞,∞) by ordinary differential expressions of arbitrary order with periodic matrix-valued coefficients.     

Some Results on Ordinary Differential Operators with Periodic Coefficients

For a general ordinary differential operator \(\mathcal {L}\) with periodic coefficients we prove that the characteristic polynomial of the Floquet matrix is irreducible over the field of meromorphic functions. We also consider a multipoint eigenvalue problem and show that its eigenspaces are spanned by pure or generalized Floquet solutions. Finally, at the end of the paper we mention some relevant conjectures and open questions.     

Hecke Operators on Linear Ordinary Differential Equations

We construct Hecke operators acting on the space of certain linear ordinary differential equations, and describe a Hermitian inner product on the space of such differential equations. We also determine the adjoint of the Hecke operator with respect to this inner product, and prove that the space of ordinary differential equations associated to an automorphic form for a certain discrete subgroup of SL(2, R) has a basis consisting of common eigenvectors of a class of Hecke operators.     

Gauge-Related Deformations of Ordinary Linear Differential Operators with Constant Coefficients

Characterization of Domains of Self-Adjoint Ordinary Differential Operators II

We characterize the self-adjoint domains of general even order linear ordinary differential operators in terms of real-parameter solutions of the differential equation. This for endpoints which are regular or singular and for arbitrary deficiency index. This characterization is obtained from a new decomposition of the maximal domain in terms of limit-circle solutions. These are the solutions which contribute to the self-adjoint domains in analogy with the celebrated Weyl limit-circle solutions in the second order Sturm–Liouville case. As a special case we obtain the previously known characterizations when one or both endpoints are regular.
