We present new results on the positive muon (μ+) linewidth in “pure” and doped copper samples. These and previously published data are analysed within the framework of the quantum theory of diffusion. This analysis shows that for T ? 10 K the linewidth is dominated by the effect of the remaining interstitial impurities in the “pure” sample.The analysis also indicates that the narrowing of the μ+ linewidth is due to an incoherent process even below 0.5 K and that coherent diffusion does not occur in the Cu-samples studied so far. We comment on the main differences between muon diffusion in Cu- and Al-samples. The model presented should be applicable to other metals as well.  相似文献

The kinetics of the sensitized flourescence in naphthalene crystals doped with 2-methylnaphthalene (2-MN) and anthracene (A) was studied as a function of the temperature. These experiments yield singlet exciton diffusion constants of (2 ± 1) × 10-4cm2s-1 at 4.2 K and roughly 10-5 cm2 s-1 at 300 K. The exciton trapping radii can be estimated to be of the order of 60 Å for A and 10 Å for 2-MN. At temperatures below 40 K a partially coherent exciton motion can be inferred, above 40 K the exciton motion appears to be purely incoherent.  相似文献

The problem of atomic scattering from adsorbate-covered surfaces, treated earlier for the case of commensurate overlayers, is considered again in the eikonal approximation for incommensurate lattice phases and for fluid phases. Stochastic methods are employed and for a specific model (hard bosses on a plane) it is shown how the statistical and geometric problems can be separately solved. In order to explain the meaning of the coherent and incoherent scattering contributions a time-dependent theory is introduced and it is shown that the incoherent “elastic” scattering is in fact weakly inelastic and (for classical diffusion with diffusion coefficient D) has an energy width of the order ?DQ2, where Q is the parallel momentum transfer. The problem of the decay of substrate diffraction intensities when the coverage of random impurities is increased is also discussed.  相似文献

We investigate the diffusion coefficient of the time integral of the Kuramoto order parameter in globally coupled nonidentical phase oscillators. This coefficient represents the deviation of the time integral of the order parameter from its mean value on the sample average. In other words, this coefficient characterizes long-term fluctuations of the order parameter. For a system of N coupled oscillators, we introduce a statistical quantity D, which denotes the product of N and the diffusion coefficient. We study the scaling law of D with respect to the system size N. In other well-known models such as the Ising model, the scaling property of D is D~O(1) for both coherent and incoherent regimes except for the transition point. In contrast, in the globally coupled phase oscillators, the scaling law of D is different for the coherent and incoherent regimes: D~O(1/N(a)) with a certain constant a>0 in the coherent regime and D~O(1) in the incoherent regime. We demonstrate that these scaling laws hold for several representative coupling schemes.  相似文献

Cooper pair tunneling in voltage-biased superconducting C-SET structure is discussed with emphasis on the electromagnetic environment effect based on the self-consistent microscopic theory of Coulomb blockade in C-SET. It is shown that coherent Cooper pair tunneling survives only in the low impedance limit where charge fluctuation is large, while incoherent Cooper pair tunneling survives in both low- and high-impedance limits.  相似文献

By means of the muon spin rotation (µSR) technique the trapping at vacancies and the mobility of positive muons are investigated in the temperature range 2.5 K to 297 K in polycrystalline aluminium irradiated with fast neutrons at 4.6 K. The observed damping of the µSR signal at temperatures below 50 K is in good agreement with saturation trapping at monovacancies. The temperature dependence of the damping above 50 K indicates that the muon diffusivity exhibits a minimumD min µ+ 110–13 m2 s–1 near 125 K, which is explained by a transition from coherent to incoherent tunneling. With the help of an estimated trapping cross section a monovacancy concentration of ~3 × 10–4 after 125 K annealing is deduced, in good agreement with measurements of the residual electrical resistivity. 本文采用红外发散理论和二能级体系模型,讨论玻璃超声吸收在2K温度以下的行为,与现有的隧道二能级模型不同,我们把Bloch方程看作“磁化强度”所满足的宏观方程,方程中所有的物理量都是系综平均值。并且把缺陷态看作处在局域涨落场中的赝自旋,提出了在低温下赝自旋角扩散与温度的关系。我们不但得到与实验符合较好的理论吸收曲线,并且解释了弱照射共振吸收正比于T-0.7和饱和吸收正比于ω2的实验规律。 关键词:  相似文献

A nonlinear theory of self-oscillation in crossed electric and magnetic fields is worked out. Effects of the magnetic field intensity, sample dimensions, and surface recombination rate on the generation conditions of coherent (monochromatic) self-oscillations are studied. A domain model of coherent self-oscillations excited under transvere breakdown and strong magnetoconcentration effect is proposed. Numerical calculations for n-InSb (T = 77 K) are carried out. Coherent self-oscillations are shown to be induced for frequencies ~ 1010 Hz.  相似文献

In the classical Josephson effect the phase difference across the junction is well defined, and the supercurrent is reduced only weakly by phase diffusion. For mesoscopic junctions with small capacitance the phase undergoes large quantum fluctuations, and the current is also decreased by Coulomb blockade effects. We discuss the behavior of the current–voltage characteristics in a large range of parameters comprising the phase diffusion regime with coherent Josephson current as well as the supercurrent peak due to incoherent Cooper pair tunneling in the Coulomb blockade regime.  相似文献

利用溶胶-凝胶法制备了纳米多晶La0.7Sr0.3MnO3-δ(LSM)块体样品.详细研究了在不同烧结温度下的LSM样品电阻率随测量温度的变化关系和磁电阻效应.随着测量温度从室温降低,电阻率ρ都在250K附近存在最大值,低于该温度后,样品表现为金属导电特性,随后在50K左右存在一极小值.即随着温度从50K左右降低到4.2K,ρ反而逐渐升高,表现为绝缘体性的导电特性.研究表明,在低温下(<50K),ρ随温度降低而升高的现象与隧穿效应的理论模型(lnρ∝T1/2)符合得很好,表明这种现象是由于传导电子在通过邻近LSM晶粒间表面/界面层时的隧道效应所致.而在50—250K的温度范围内,其电阻率与T2成正比,表现为LSM本征的金属导电特性.因此这种低温下电阻率的极小值现象来源于隧穿效应和LSM晶粒本征的金属导电特性的相互竞争.本文还详细研究了相应的隧道磁电阻效应. 关键词: 0.7Sr0.3MnO3-δ')" href="#">多晶La0.7Sr0.3MnO3-δ 隧道效应 隧道磁电阻效应  相似文献

The kinetics of the reorientation of the molecular impurities16O2 ? and18O2 ? in the host lattices KCl, KBr and KJ has been investigated by means of ESR as a function of uniaxial stress in the temperature range between 1,3°K and 4,5°K. Below 4°K the reorientation rate is proportional to the temperature, indicating that one-phonon processes dominate at low temperatures. ForT>4°K the reorientation through excited librational levels becomes significant. The large isotope effect in the reorientation rate of16O2 ? and18O2 ? confirms that tunneling plays an important role. The analogy between the diffusion of polarons and the reorientation of molecules in solids is discussed in detail. The evaluation and interpretation of the experimental results in terms of the theory of Gosar and Pire yields values for the tunneling matrix elements, the potential barrier between two equilibrium orientations, the libration frequencies and an effective moment of inertia. The theory accounts well for the contribution of the one-phonon processes to the relaxation rate for stress along [001]. For stress along [111] the agreement is only qualitative.  相似文献

We treat the coupled coherent and incoherent motion of Frenkel excitons by a model calculation. The model contains the four parametersa (distance of neighbouring atoms),J (exchange interaction integral), γo (describing the strength of the local energy fluctuations) and γ1 (a measure of the fluctuations of the exchange interaction integral, i.e. nonlocal fluctuations). Calculation of the optical absorption of systems with two differently oriented molecules/unit cells results in the Davydov-splitting given by Δ=8J and the linewidth given by Γ=γo1. From the equation of motion of the density matrix we derive a diffusion equation. The diffusion constant is given by \(D = \frac{{a^2 }}{\hbar }\left( {2\gamma _1 + \frac{{J^2 }}{{\gamma _1 + \Gamma }}} \right)\) . Comparison with experiment yields γo=70cm?1, γ1=0.1 cm?1 at room temperature and Γ<1 cm?1 at 4.2 °K. Using these numerical values and the criterium of Haken and Strobl we derive that at room temperature the exciton motion is incoherent and may be described by a hopping process whereas at low temperature it is coherent.  相似文献

The tunneling of two lithium ion impurities on next-nearest neighbor sites in potassium chloride are investigated both experimentally and theoretically. The strong dipolar interaction leads to coherent tunneling motion of the two defect ions between degenerate off-center positions. Comparing data of rotary echo experiments for impurity pairs 7Li—7Li, 6Li—6Li, and 7Li—6Li with theory permits a thorough investigation of the isotope effect and of the effect of the interaction on the tunnel states. Our findings confirm the tunneling model with <111> off-center states to be valid even for strongly interacting impurities. Using degenerate perturbation theory in terms of two-particle states, we obtain essentially exact expressions for the tunneling spectrum and the dynamical susceptibility which agree well with the measured data.  相似文献

Double pyrochlore Dy2Ru207 is synthesized and its magnetism and ferroelectricity below the Ru4+ spin ordering temperature (NI00 K) are investigated. The ferroelectric transition appears at -18 K, much higher than the Dy3+ spin ordering point at -1.8 K and lower than the Ru4+ spin ordering point at -100 K. The measured electric polarization at ,-2 K is as big as 145℃/m2 in the polycrystalline samples. It is argued that the ferroelectricity is possibly ascribed to the electric dipole ordering arising from the collective monopole excitations in the Dy3+ tetrahedrons in prior to the Dy3+ spin ordering into spin-ice like state below -1.8 K.  相似文献

Abstract

On the basis of the method of reduced Rayleigh equations we present a simple and reciprocal theory of the coherent and incoherent scattering of x-rays from one- and two-dimensional randomly rough surfaces, that appears to be free from the limitations of earlier theories of such scattering based on the Born and distorted-wave Born approximations. In our approach, the reduced Rayleigh equation for the scattering amplitude(s) is solved perturbatively, with the small parameter of the theory η(ω) = 1 - ε(ω), where ε(ω) is the dielectric function of the scattering medium. The magnitude of η(ω) for x-rays is in the range from 10?6 to 10?3, depending on the wavelength of the x-rays. The contributions to the mean differential reflection coefficient from the coherent and incoherent components of the scattered x-rays are calculated through terms of second order in η(ω). The resulting expressions are valid to all orders in the surface profile function. The results for the incoherent scattering display a Yoneda peak when the scattering angle equals the critical angle for total internal reflection from the vacuum-scattering medium interface for a fixed angle of incidence, and when the angle of incidence equals the critical angle for total internal reflection for a fixed scattering angle. The approach used here may also be useful in theoretical studies of the scattering of electromagnetic waves from randomly rough dielectric-dielectric interfaces, when the difference between the dielectric constants on the two sides of the interface is small.  相似文献

In this paper, we report the coherent scattering cross sections of some lanthanides at low momentum transfer in four angular ranges of (0°?4°), (0°?6°), (0°?8°) and for 241Am (59.54 keV) and 137Cs (661.6 keV) gamma rays. The coherent scattering cross sections were derived by subtracting the small contribution of the corresponding angle integrated incoherent scattering cross sections from the experimentally measured total (coherent + incoherent) scattering cross sections for the elements and energies of interest. The coherent scattering cross sections were found to agree with the corresponding theoretical cross sections within the range of experimental errors. The theoretical coherent scattering cross sections were computed by numerically integrating the S-matrix data of the elements in the angular ranges of interest. The incoherent scattering cross sections were based on the compilations which make use of the non-relativistic Hartree-Fock (NRHF) model for the atomic charge distribution.  相似文献

Time-dependent specific heat experiments on the molecular nanomagnet Fe8 and the isotopic enriched analogue 57Fe8 are presented. The inclusion of the 57Fe nuclear spins leads to a huge enhancement of the specific heat below 1 K, ascribed to a strong increase in the spin-lattice relaxation rate gamma arising from incoherent, nuclear-spin-mediated magnetic quantum tunneling (MQT) in the ground doublet. Since gamma is found comparable to the expected tunneling rate, the MQT process has to be inelastic. A model for the coupling of the tunneling spins to the lattice is presented. Under transverse field, a crossover from nuclear-spin-mediated to phonon-induced tunneling is observed.  相似文献

We report on a tunneling study of underdoped submicron Bi2Sr2-xLaxCuO6+δ (La-Bi2201) intrinsic Josephson junctions (IJJs), whose self-heating is sufficiently suppressed. The tunneling spectra are measured from 4.2 K up to the pseudogap opening temperature of T* = 260 K. The gap value found from the spectral peak position is about 35 meV and has a weak temperature dependence both below and above the superconducting transition temperature of Tc = 29 K. Since the superconducting gap should have a value of 10-15 meV, our results indicate that the pseudogap (~35 meV) plays an important role in the underdoped La-Bi2201 intrinsic tunneling spectroscopy down to the lowest temperature of 4.2 K. However, the contribution of the superconducting gap can be separated by normalizing the spectra to the one near and above Tc, which shows that the IJJs can be a useful tool for the study of the electronic properties of the La-Bi2201 cuprate superconductors.  相似文献
