The ratio of zero bias, zero temperature Josephson current through SNS (superconductor-normal metal-superconductor) junction containing paramagnetic impurities with local states within the gap, to that of the pure-SNS junction, is studied and found to be 1 ?ζ[(1?20) + (14?40) ? (14?60)], where ζ is a measure of impurity concentration and ?0 is the normalized position of a local state within the gap.  相似文献

For a mesoscopic radio frequency superconducting quantum interference device (rfSQUID), at a degeneracy point, the system reduces to a quantum two-state system which can be used as a flux qubit. When the noise environment is equivalent to a harmonic oscillators bath, by virtue of an operator-norm measure for the short time decoherence, this paper investigates the initial decoherence of the flux qubit operating in the ohmic noise environment and illustrates its property by means of the numerical evaluation.  相似文献

The maximal supercurrent Im of a short Josephson junction formed by an edge contact of two superconducting films is calculated for the case where the junction is placed in a periodic field produced by a chain of magnetic nanoparticles. The commensurability effects occurring when the magnetic flux of a homogeneous external field H0 through an elementary cell is equal to an integral number of magnetic flux quanta Φ0 are considered. The effects give rise to additional maxima in the Im(H0) dependence.  相似文献

The electromagnetic radiation produced by the single moving Josephson vortex in the inhomogeneous junction has been theoretically considered. Chaos in the dc and rf current driven Josephson junction is investigated by measurements on a phase-locked loop. The method allows a direct display of the Poincaré map and the bifurcation diagram, as the parameter space is searched. In some regions of the parameter space the Feigenbaum period-doubling route to chaos is observed upon a change of any parameter.  相似文献

Commensurability effects have been theoretically studied in a hybrid system consisting of a Josephson junction located in a nonuniform field induced by an array of magnetic particles. A periodic phase-difference distribution in the junction that is caused by the formation of a regular lattice of Abrikosov vortices generated by the magnetic field of the particles in superconducting electrodes is calculated. The dependence of the critical current through the junction I c on the applied magnetic field H is shown to differ strongly from the conventional Fraunhofer diffraction pattern because of the periodic modulation of the Josephson phase difference created by the vortices. More specifically, the I c(H) pattern contains additional resonance peaks, whose positions and heights depend on the parameters and magnetic state of the particles in the array. These specific features of the I c(H) dependence are observed when the period of the Josephson current modulation by the field of the magnetic particles and the characteristic scale of the change in the phase difference by the applied magnetic field are commensurable. The conditions that determine the positions of the commensurability peaks are obtained, and they are found to agree well with experimental results.  相似文献

We report a new kind of experiment in which we take an array of nanoscale apertures that form a superfluid (4)He Josephson junction and apply quantum phase gradients directly along the array. We observe collective coherent behaviors from aperture elements, leading to quantum interference. Connections to superconducting and Bose-Einstein condensate Josephson junctions as well as phase coherence among the superfluid aperture array are discussed.  相似文献

We study analytically and numerically the phase-modulation properties of a classical Josephson tunnel junction biased in the zero-voltage state and phase locked to an external ac field. We show that the phase-locked state is being modulated in the transients, or in response to perturbations, and the modulation frequency is calculated as a function of relevant system parameters, such as microwave field amplitude. Our analysis demonstrates that the modulation of a phase-locked state in an entirely classical Josephson junction produces oscillations analogous to quantum mechanical Rabi oscillations, expected to be observed under the same conditions.  相似文献

The problem of a Josephson current through a Coulomb-blocked nanoscale superconductor-normal-superconductor structure with tunnel contacts is reconsidered. Two different contributions to the phase-biased supercurrent I(?) are identified, which are dominant in the limits of weak and strong Coulomb interaction. Full expression for the free energy valid at arbitrary Coulomb strength is found. The current derived from this free energy interpolates between known results for weak and strong Coulomb interaction as the phase bias changes from 0 to π. In the broad range of Coulomb strength, the current-phase relation is substantially nonsinusoidal and qualitatively different from the case of semiballistic SNS junctions. The Coulomb interaction leads to the appearance of a local minimum in the current at some intermediate value of the phase difference applied to the junction.  相似文献

The static magnetic susceptibility of an itinerant-electron antiferromagnet containing magnetic impurities, is calculated using the two-band model in the mean-field approximation. The temperature dependence of the magnetic moment of the impurity is also calculated. The theory proposes a model to explain the magnetic behaviour of the binary chromium alloys with the iron and cobalt as well as the magnetic behaviour of some rare earth compounds.  相似文献

Josephson junction is an active electric component and its channel current can be adjusted by external magnetic field, which can trigger additive phase error along the junction. From physical viewpoint, the Josephson junction can capture and release field energy when it is exposed to a magnetic field, and this time-varying current can be used to excite neural circuit for generating target firing patterns. In this paper, a Josephson junction is connected to a simple neural circuit, which is made of a capacitor, induction coil, a nonlinear resistor, two linear resistors and one constant voltage source in the branch, and the improved neural circuit is adjusted to percept external magnetic field and estimate the potential application of Josephson junction in nonlinear circuits. Bifurcation analysis is applied to explore the mode selection and dynamics dependence on parameters setting in the biophysical neural circuits. Furthermore, the neural circuit is exposed to external magnetic field and its physical effect is estimated by applying scale transformation on the variables and parameters in the neural circuit. It is confirmed that the neural circuit can be controlled and the neural activity shows distinct mode transition by taming the intensity (or angular frequency in periodic field) of external magnetic field. This kind of neural circuit can be further used as smart sensor for detecting weak magnetic field.  相似文献

Renormalization group techniques are used to calculate the transition temperature of a BCS-Superconductor containing magnetic impurities described by the symmetric one orbital Anderson model for small U/πΓ. Fluxon interaction in a long Josephson junction with bias current and losses is investigated by means of a perturbational approach. A simple analytical theory of the congelation (bunching) of unipolar fluxons is presented. Asymptotic results are confirmed by numerical solutions. It is shown that a system of congealed fluxons reflects from an open end of the junction without being destroyed.  相似文献

We address the dynamics of a single spin embedded in the tunneling barrier between two superconductors. As a consequence of pair correlations in the superconducting state, the spin displays a rich and unusual dynamics. To properly describe the time evolution of the spin we find the generalized Wess-Zumino-Witten-Novikov term in the effective action for the spin on the Keldysh contour. The superconducting correlations lead to an effective spin action which is nonlocal in time leading to unconventional precessions. Our predictions might be directly tested for macroscopic spin clusters.  相似文献
