The compromise optimization of the structure and geometry of a laminated anisotropic composite plate subjected to biaxial thermal shear loading is considered. From the known properties of the monolayer and given values of a variable structural parameter, the thermoelastic properties of the layered composite are determined. The optimization criteria — the critical shear load and the longitudinal and transverse thermal stresses — depend on two variable design parameters of composite properties and temperature. In the space of optimization criteria, the domain of allowable solutions and the Pareto-optimal subregion are found. __________ Translated from Mekhanika Kompozitnykh Materialov, Vol. 44, No. 4, pp. 471–478, July–August, 2008.  相似文献

In this paper, the second order statistics of post buckling response of functionally graded materials plate (FGM) subjected to mechanical and thermal loading with nonuniform temperature changes subjected to temperature independent (TID) and dependent (TD) material properties is examined. Material properties such as material properties of each constituent’s materials, volume fraction index are taken as independent random input variables. The basic formulation is based on higher order shear deformation theory (HSDT) with von-Karman nonlinear kinematic using modified C0 continuity. A direct iterative based C0 nonlinear finite element method (FEM) combined with mean centered first order perturbation technique (FOPT) proposed by last two authors for the composite plate is extended for Functionally Graded Materials (FGMs) plate with reasonable accuracy to compute the second order statistics (mean and coefficient of variation) of the post buckling load response of the FGM plates. The effect of random material properties with amplitude ratios, volume fraction index, plate thickness ratios, aspect ratios, boundary conditions and types of loadings subjected to TID and TD material properties are presented through numerical examples. The performance of outlined present approach is validated with the results available in literatures and independent Monte Carlo simulation (MCS).  相似文献

Optimization of the structure of a laminated anisotropic composite plate subjected to thermal action is considered. The thermoelastic properties of the laminated composite are determined from the known stochastic properties of the components and the given values of the variable structural parameters, using the method of orientational averaging. The properties to be optimized - the critical load and thermal stresses - depend on two variable parameters, the stochastic properties of the composite and the temperature. In the space of the properties being optimized, the domain of admissible solutions and the parameters of the property scatter ellipses at the characteristic points of the project are found. For the compromise optimum project obtained, the reliability is determined with account of the correlation between the critical and thermal stresses. Reduced requirements to the critical loads and thermal stresses lead to an increase in the reliability of the project.  相似文献

This paper presents a novel finite element formulation for static, free vibration and buckling analyses of laminated composite plates. The idea relies on a combination of node-based smoothing discrete shear gap method with the higher-order shear deformation plate theory (HSDT) to give a so-called NS-DSG3 element. The higher-order shear deformation plate theory (HSDT) is introduced in the present method to remove the shear correction factors and improve the accuracy of transverse shear stresses. The formulation uses only linear approximations and its implementation into finite element programs is quite simple and efficient. The numerical examples demonstrated that the present element is free of shear locking and shows high reliability and accuracy compared to other published solutions in the literature.  相似文献

The elastic behavior of stiffened struts of orthotropic composite material is investigated under an eccentric loading using displacement potential formulation. Solutions are obtained for different aspect ratios of the strut where the fibers are assumed to be directed along the axis of the struts. Solutions of stresses and displacements of boron/epoxy composite struts are presented numerically in the form of graphs. The effects of material orthotropy and different stiffeners on the elastic field are also investigated. Finally, some of the results of the present solution are compared with the corresponding finite element predictions, which, in turn, establishes the soundness as well as reliability of the present analysis of the composite struts.  相似文献

Within the frame work of the second version of small precritical deformation in the three-dimensional linearized theory of stability of deformable bodies (TDLTSDB), the undulation instability problem for a simply supported rectangular plate made of a viscoelastic composite material is investigated in biaxial compression in the plate plane. The corresponding boundary-value problem is solved by employing the Laplace transformation and the principle of correspondence. For comparison and estimation of the accuracy of results given by the TDLTSDB, the same problem is also solved by using various approximate plate theories. The viscoelasticity properties of the plate material are described by the Rabotnov fractional-exponential operator. The numerical results and their discussion are presented for the case where the plate is made of a multilayered viscoelastic composite material. In particular, the variation range of problem parameters is established for which it is necessary to investigate the undulation instability of the viscoelastic composite plate by using the TDLTSDB. The transient creep of a UD composite with a quadratic arrangement of elastic fibers of quadratic cross section is investigated. The deformational properties of the composite are determined from the known properties of its constituents. A structural model of the UD composite is developed, whose minimal elementary cell contains four elements. The stress-strain state of the elements is assumed homogeneous. Two types of basic and resolving governing equations of transient creep are deduced, which are based on static or kinematic assumptions. In each of the cases, a formula for the longitudinal elastic shear modulus of the composite is found. The stationary solutions of creep equations allow one to obtain formulas of the steady-state creep of the composite in a form similar to Norton’s law. Numerical calculations are also performed, and a comparison of the results with data given in the literature bears witness to the efficiency of the models developed and the solutions obtained. __________ Translated from Mekhanika Kompozitnykh Materialov, Vol. 43, No. 4, pp. 437–448, July–August, 2007.  相似文献

The nonlinear in-plane buckling analysis for fixed shallow functionally graded (FG) graphene reinforced composite arches which are subjected to uniform radial load and temperature field is presented in this paper. The arch is composed of multiple graphene platelet reinforced composite (GPLRC) layers with gradient changes of concentration of graphene platelets (GPLs) in each layer. The principle of virtual work, combined with the effective materials properties estimated by the Halpin-Tsai micromechanics model for GPLRC layer, is used to derive the nonlinear buckling equilibrium equations of the FG-GPLRC arch, and then the analytical solutions for the limit point and bifurcation buckling loads are obtained. Comprehensive parametric studies are conducted to explore the effects of various distribution patterns and geometries of GPL, temperature field and arch geometry on the nonlinear equilibrium path and buckling behavior of the composite arch. The influence of temperature on the geometric parameters which are defined as switches between limit point buckling, bifurcation buckling and no buckling are also discussed. It is found that a higher temperature field can increase the buckling loads of the FG-GPLRC arch but reduce the value of the minimum geometric parameters that switching the buckling modes. The results also show that even a small amount of GPLs filler content can increase the buckling loads of the FG-GPLRC arch considerably, and distributing more GPLs near the surface layers is the best pattern to enhance the buckling performances of FG-GPLRC arches.  相似文献

A hybrid meshless technique based on composition of meshless local Petrov–Galerkin method (for spatial variables) and Newmark finite difference method (for time domain) is developed for natural frequencies analysis of thick cylinder made of functionally graded materials (FGMs). The FG cylinder is assumed to be under suddenly thermal loading, axisymmetric and plane strain conditions. The dynamic behaviors and time history of displacements are obtained in time domain using Green–Naghdi (GN) theory of coupled thermo-elasticity (without energy dissipation). Using fast Fourier transform (FFT) technique, the displacements are transferred to frequency domain and all natural frequencies are illustrated for various grading patterns of FGMs. The variations of mechanical properties in FG thick hollow cylinder are considered to be in nonlinear volume fraction law through radial direction. The presented hybrid meshless technique furnishes a ground to analyze the effects of various grading patterns of FGMs on natural frequencies, which are obtained employing GN coupled thermo-elasticity governing equations. Also, the frequency history and natural frequencies are illustrated for various grading patterns at several points across thickness of cylinder.  相似文献

This paper presents an analytical investigation on the nonlinear response of thick functionally graded doubly curved shallow panels resting on elastic foundations and subjected to some conditions of mechanical, thermal, and thermomechanical loads. Material properties are assumed to be temperature independent, and graded in the thickness direction according to a simple power law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of constituents. The formulations are based on higher order shear deformation shell theory taking into account geometrical nonlinearity, initial geometrical imperfection and Pasternak type elastic foundation. By applying Galerkin method, explicit relations of load-deflection curves for simply supported curved panels are determined. Effects of material and geometrical properties, in-plane boundary restraint, foundation stiffness and imperfection on the buckling and postbuckling loading capacity of the panels are analyzed and discussed. The novelty of this study results from accounting for higher order transverse shear deformation and panel-foundation interaction in analyzing nonlinear stability of thick functionally graded cylindrical and spherical panels.  相似文献

The stress distribution in a rectangular plate of a multilayer composite material with a periodically curved structure under forced vibration is studied. It is assumed that the plate is hinge supported at opposite sides. The investigation is carried out within the exact three-dimensional linear theory of elasticity. The mechanical relationships of the plate material are described by the continuum theory of Akbarov and Guz'. The numerical results obtained by the finite element method show that even in low-frequency dynamic loading of the plate the extreme values of stresses, which appear as a result of the curving in the plate structure, considerably exceed those in the corresponding static loading.Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics, Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, Baku, Azerbaijan. Natural and forced vibrations of a thick rectangular plate fabricated from a composite material with a spatially locally curved structure are investigated with the use of exact three-dimensional equations of motion of the theory of elastic anisotropic bodies. The investigations are carried out within the framework of the continuum approach developed by Akbarov and Guz. It is supposed that the plate is clamped at all its edges and is loaded on the upper face with uniformly distributed normal forces periodically changing with time. The influence of the parameters of local curving on the fundamental frequency of the plate and on the distribution of the normal stress acting in the thickness direction under forced vibration is studied. The corresponding boundary-value problems are solved numerically by employing the three-dimensional FEM modelling.Russian translation published in Mekhanika Kompozitnykh Materialov, Vol. 40, No. 6, pp. 779–790, November–December, 2004.  相似文献

A two-dimensional linearized problem on plane buckling modes (BMs) of a rectangular plate with free edges, made of an elastic orthotropic material, underbiaxial tension-compression is considered. With the use of double trigonometric basis functions, displacement functions exactly satisfying all static boundary condition on plate edges are constructed. It is shown that the exact analytic solutions found describe only the pure shear BMs, and if the normal stress in one direction is assumed equal to zero, an analog of the solution given by the kinematic Timoshenko model can be obtained. Upon performing the limit passage to the zero harmonic in the displacement functions of one of the directions, the solution to the problem of biaxial compression can be obtained by equating the Poisson ratio to zero; in the case of uniaxial compression, this solution exactly agrees with that following from the classical Bernoulli-Euler model. __________ Translated from Mekhanika Kompozitnykh Materialov, Vol. 43, No. 2, pp. 149–170, March–April, 2007.  相似文献

The nonlinear buckling behavior of a 3D-braided composite cylindrical shell of finite length subjected to internal pressure in thermal environments is considered. According to a new micromacromechanical model, a 3D-braided composite may be treated as a cell system where the geometry of each cell strongly depends on its position in the cross section of the cylindrical shell. The material properties of the epoxy matrix are expressed as linear functions of temperature. The governing equations are based on Reddy’s higher-order shear deformation theory of shells with a von Karman–Donnell-type kinematic nonlinearity and include thermal effects. The singular perturbation technique is employed to determine the buckling pressure and the postbuckling equilibrium paths of the shell.  相似文献

Nonlinear three-dimensional problems of dynamic deformation, buckling, and posteritical behavior of composite shell structures under pulsed loads are analyzed. The structure is assumed to be made of rigidly joined plates and shells of revolution along the lines coinciding with the coordinate directions of the joined elements. Individual structural elements can be made of both composite and conventional isotropic materials. The kinematic model of deformation of the structural elements is based on Timoshenko-type hypotheses. This approach is oriented to the calculation of nonstationary deformation processes in composite structures under small deformations but large displacements and rotation angles, and is implemented in the context of a simplified version of the geometrically nonlinear theory of shells. The physical relations in the composite structural elements are based on the theory of effective moduli for individual layers or for the package as a whole, whereas in the metallic elements this is done in the framework of the theory of plastic flow. The equations of motion of a composite shell structure are derived based on the principle of virtual displacements with some additional conditions allowing for the joint operation of structural elements. To solve the initial boundary-value problem formulated, an efficient numerical method is developed based on the finite-difference discretization of variational equations of motion in space variables and an explicit second-order time-integration scheme. The permissible time-integration step is determined using Neumann's spectral criterion. The above method is especially efficient in calculating thin-walled shells, as well as in the case of local loads acting on the structural element, when the discretization grid has to be condensed in the zones of rapidly changing solutions in space variables. The results of analyzing the nonstationary deformation processes and critical loads are presented for composite and isotropic cylindrical shells reinforced with a set of discrete ribs in the case of pulsed axial compression and external pressure.Scientific Research Institute of Mechanics, Lobachevskii Nizhegorodsk State University, N.
