A study of the targeted energy transfer (TET) phenomenon between an acoustic resonator and a thin viscoelastic membrane has recently been presented in the paper [R. Bellet et al., Experimental study of targeted energy transfer from an acoustic system to a nonlinear membrane absorber, Journal of Sound and Vibration 329 (2010) 2768-2791], providing a new path to passive sound control in the low frequency domain where no efficient dissipative device exists. This paper presents experimental results showing that a loudspeaker used as a suspended piston working outside its range of linearity can also be used as a nonlinear acoustic absorber. The main advantage of this technology of absorber is the perspective to adjust independently the device parameters (mass, nonlinear stiffness and damping) according to the operational conditions. To achieve this purpose, quasi-static and dynamic tests have been performed on three types of commercial devices (one with structural modi?cations), in order to de?ne the constructive characteristics that it should present. An experimental setup has been developed using a one-dimensional acoustic linear system coupled through a box (acting as a weak spring) to a loudspeaker used as a suspended piston acting as an essentially nonlinear oscillator. The tests carried out on the whole vibro-acoustic system have showed the occurrence of the acoustic TET from the acoustic media to the suspended piston and demonstrated the efficiency of this new kind of absorber at low frequencies over a wide frequency range. Moreover, the experimental analyses conducted with different NES masses have con?rmed that it is possible to optimize the noise absorption with respect to the excitation level of the acoustic resonator.  相似文献

Dynamic vibration absorbers for vibration control within a frequency band   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
The use of dynamic vibration absorbers to control the vibration of a structure in both narrow and broadbands is discussed in this paper. As a benchmark problem, a plate incorporating multiple vibration absorbers is formulated, leading to an analytical solution when the number of absorbers yields one. Using this analytical solution, control mechanisms of the vibration absorber in different frequency bandwidths are studied; the coupling properties due to the introduction of the absorber into the host structure are analyzed; and the control performance of the absorber in different control bandwidths is examined with respect to its damping and location. It is found that the interaction between the plate and the absorber by means of the reaction force from the absorber plays a dominant role in a narrow band control, while in a relatively broadband control the dissipation by the absorber damping governs the control performance. When control bandwidth further enlarges, the optimal locations of the absorbers are not only affected by the targeted mode, but also by the other plate modes. These locations need to be determined after establishing a trade-off between the targeted mode and other modes involved in the coupling. Finally, numerical findings are assessed based on a simply-supported plate and a fair agreement between the predicted and measured results is obtained.  相似文献

The present paper considers the problem of realizing an effective targeted energy pumping from a linear oscillator to a set of ungrounded linear resonators attached to it. Theoretical as well as numerical results demonstrate the efficacy of using a complex attachment as a passive absorber of broadband energy injected into the primary structure. The paper unveils also the existence of an instantaneous frequency associated with the master response characterized by intermittency: a rather surprising result for a linear autonomous system. Comparison with nonlinear energy sinks demonstrates that the two systems have some analogies in this respect and that the linear complex attachment is a very efficient energy trap.  相似文献

This paper deals with the application of the concept of targeted energy transfer to the field of acoustics, providing a new approach to passive sound control in the low frequency domain, where no efficient dissipative mechanism exists. The targeted energy transfer, also called energy pumping, is a phenomenon that we observe by combining a pure nonlinear oscillator with a linear primary system. It corresponds to an almost irreversible transfer of vibration energy from the linear system to the auxiliary nonlinear one, where the energy is finally dissipated. In this study, an experimental set-up has been developed using the air inside a tube as the acoustic linear system, a thin circular visco-elastic membrane as an essentially cubic oscillator and the air inside a box as a weak coupling between those two elements. In this paper, which mainly deals with experimental results, it is shown that several regimes exist under sinusoidal forcing, corresponding to the different nonlinear normal modes of the system. One of these regimes is the quasi-periodic energy pumping regime. The targeted energy transfer phenomenon is also visible on the free oscillations of the system. Indeed, above an initial excitation threshold, the sound extinction in the tube follows a quasi-linear decrease that is much faster than the usual exponential one. During this linear decrease, the energy of the acoustic medium is irreversibly transferred to the membrane and then damped into this element called nonlinear energy sink. We present also the frequency responses of the system which shows a clipping of the original resonance peak of the acoustic medium and we finally demonstrate the ability of the nonlinear absorber to operate in a large frequency band, tuning itself to any linear system.  相似文献

This paper presents a new design of nonlinear dynamic absorber (NDA) using the phenomenon of modal energy transfer between the symmetric mode and the anti-symmetric mode of a curved beam. It can reduce the resonance vibration of a primary structure with a controllable operational frequency range. The energy transfer is initiated by an autoparametric vibration and the excitation force required is lowest when the ratio of the resonance frequencies of the first symmetric mode (ω1) and first anti-symmetric mode (ω2) is close to 2.The resonance frequency of the first anti-symmetric mode (ω2) can be altered to control the operational frequency range. The autoparametric vibration response can be used to create an energy-dissipative region with a controllable bandwidth. It is also possible to create a non-dissipative region in between two dissipative regions. This is useful for providing damping for a conventional dynamic absorber without adding high damping material. The damping is due to the dissipation of energy to anti-symmetric mode. Numerical calculations indicate that the resonance vibration of a primary structure can be successfully reduced using this approach. The results are verified with experimental data.  相似文献

Nonlinear elastic metamaterial, a topic which has attracted extensive attention in recent years, can enable broadband vibration reduction under relatively large amplitude. The combination of damping and strong nonlinearity in metamaterials may entail extraordinary effects and offer the capability for low-frequency and broadband vibration reduction. However, there exists a clear lack of proper design methods as well as the deficiency in understanding properties arising from this concept. To tackle this problem, this paper numerically demonstrates that the nonlinear elastic metamaterials, consisting of sandwich damping layers and collision resonators, can generate very robust hyper-damping effect, conducive to efficient and broadband vibration suppression. The collision-enhanced hyper damping is persistently presented in a large parameter space, ranging from small to large amplitudes, and for small and large damping coefficients. The achieved robust effects greatly enlarge the application scope of nonlinear metamaterials. We report the design concept, properties and mechanisms of the hyper-damping and its effect on vibration transmission. This paper reveals new properties offered by nonlinear elastic metamaterials, and offers a robust method for achieving efficient low-frequency and broadband vibration suppression.  相似文献

In this paper, a broadband metamaterial absorber is successfully designed by a three-dimensional structure. And the three-dimensional absorber is just obtained by a two-dimensional structure which rotates 90°along x-axis. The simulated results show that the absorption of the three-dimensional metamaterial absorber is much better than the two-dimensional absorber. Moreover, the absorber is polarization-sensitive for the incident electromagnetic waves due to the asymmetry of the structure. Compared with the Y-polarization wave, the proposed absorber can realize broadband absorption with greater than 90% from 355.6 to 737.7 THz for X-polarized wave. Finally, based on the analysis of the electric field and surface current distributions, it can demonstrate that the localized surface plasmons and dipoles resonances will play an important role in the broadband absorption. And we believe that the metamaterial absorber will have many potential applications in emitter and energy harvesting.  相似文献

This paper presents the implementation of autoparametric phenomena to reduce the symmetrical vibration of a curved beam/panel under external harmonic excitation. The internal energy transfer of a first symmetric mode into first anti-symmetric mode in a curved panel is one example of autoparametric vibration absorber effect. This is similar to the vibration energy transfer from the resonance of a primary structure to the resonance of a secondary spring–mass (tuned mass damper). The nonlinear response of a curved beam is analyzed using an equation with two modes, and a shaker test. The effect of different configurations of the curve beam/panel, including damping ratios and excitation levels, on the energy transfer of the first symmetric mode to the first anti-symmetric mode was studied. The conventional tuned mass damper (TMD) can reduce the resonance response by energy transfer using damping dissipation, whereas an autoparametric vibration absorber (AVA) can reduce the resonance response by energy transfer using parametric interaction. The results indicate that there is a non-absorption region in which vibration is amplified. For the AVA, the non-absorption region can be minimized by tuning the resonance frequency of the first anti-symmetric mode to half of the first symmetric mode resonance frequency using additional mass. No additional damping material is required for achieving sufficient vibration reduction. The AVA can maintain reliable performance in hot and corrosive environments where damping material cannot perform effectively. This paper presents the first successful experimental results of an autoparametric vibration absorption mechanism in a curved beam.  相似文献

A design method is proposed to suppress stationary random vibration in flexible structures using a hybrid vibration absorber (HVA). While the traditional vibration absorber can damp down the vibration mainly at the pre-tuned mode of the primary structure, active damping is generated by the proposed HVA to damp down all resonant modes of interest of the vibrating structure and the spatial average mean square motion of the vibrating structure can be minimized. Only one absorber and one feedback signal are required to achieve global vibration suppression of a flexible structure under stationary random excitation. A special pole-placement controller is designed such that all vibration modes of the flexible structures become critically damped. It is proved analytically that the proposed HVA damps the vibration of the entire structure instead of just the attachment point of the absorber. The proposed optimized HVA is tested on a beam structure and it shows a superior performance on global suppression of broadband vibration in comparison to other published designs of passive and hybrid vibration absorbers.  相似文献

The classic design of a tuned mass absorber is based on a simple two-mass analogy in which the tuned mass is connected to the structural mass with a spring and a viscous damper. In a flexible multi-degree-of-freedom structure the tuned mass absorber is typically introduced to provide damping of a specific mode. The motion of the point of attachment of the tuned mass absorber to the structure has not only a contribution from the targeted mode, but also a background contribution from other non-resonant modes. Similarly, the force provided by the tuned mass absorber is distributed between the targeted mode and the background modes. It is demonstrated how this effect can be included via a non-dimensional dynamic background flexibility coefficient, extracted from a classic modal analysis for the particular frequency of the selected mode. An explicit calibration procedure is developed starting with the desired maximum amplification, from which the device damper, mass and stiffness are determined, accounting for the background flexibility. Examples demonstrate the influence of the flexibility effect and the efficiency of the proposed procedure.  相似文献

We present the synchronization of two all-fiber mode-locked lasers, operating at 1.0?μm and 1.54?μm, coupled through the use of a shared single-wall carbon nanotube absorber. Both lasers operate in the soliton-regime, achieving a synchronized repetition rate of 13.08?MHz. The broadband absorption range of the single-wall carbon nanotubes allows the stable mode-locking behavior at 1?μm and 1.5?μm. The nonlinear coupling effects between two energy states of the carbon nanotube absorber result in stable synchronized pulses for hours of operation, with a large cavity mismatch of 1400?μm.

In this study, we design, prepare and characterize a broadband, ultra-low reflectivity and incidence angle-insensitive metamaterial absorber. The design of this absorber not only provides a novel idea for the design of broadband absorbers, but also enhances the application prospects of metamaterial absorbers. By introducing FeSiAlp/epoxy magnetic composite and optimizing the structural parameters, the absorption performance of the metamaterial absorber has been significantly improved. The effective absorption bandwidth (bandwidth with reflectivity less than −10dB) is increased by 3.4 times from 2.19 GHz to 7.49 GHz, and the RLmin (minimum reflection loss) value reaches −38.31 dB at 17.83 GHz, that is the absorption rate reaches 99.99%. Meanwhile, the experimental results also verify the simulation design results. Therefore, the absorber not only plays the characteristics of strong absorption of metamaterial, but also absorbs the advantages of broadband of magnetic material.  相似文献

Dynamics modelling of beams with shunted piezoelectric elements   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
General modelling of a resonant shunting damper has been made from piezoelectric sensor/actuator equations. It is found that an additional damping, which is augmented to a system, is generated by the shunt damping effect. The transfer function of the tuned electrical absorber is derived for both series and parallel shunt circuit. The governing equations and associated boundary conditions are derived using Hamilton's principle. The shunt voltage equation is also derived from the charge generated in PZT due to beam vibration. The frequency response function of the obtained mathematical model is compared with that of the tuned electrical absorber and experimental work. The vibration amplitude is reduced about 15 dB at targeted second mode frequency.  相似文献

A dynamic vibration absorber is effective in suppressing harmonic excitation by tuning its natural frequency to match the excitation frequency. The rotational pendulum absorber (RPA) has a wide-range of natural frequencies that are continuously tunable by setting a suitable rotational speed. In this paper it is shown how to automatically tune the rotational speed of a two-degree-of-freedom RPA by detecting the phase between the vibration of the primary structure and that of the RPA. For this purpose the speed response of the RPA is introduced in addition to the frequency response. It is seen that if the excitation frequency is above a critical value dependent on the parameters of the RPA, the second vibration mode of the RPA is effective, allowing a relatively low rotational speed for the pendulums. The speed tuning algorithm is tested on a flexible plate that is subject to excitations of around 80 Hz, which do not generate visible oscillations but emit audible noise instead. Experimental results confirm the noise-level reduction effect of the RPA.  相似文献

The design of mechanical systems requires various studies in order to ensure an optimal behavior during operation. In particular, the study of its dynamic behavior makes it possible to evaluate the role of a connection in the energy dissipation mechanisms. In this context, an experimental setup dedicated to small structures has been developed to quantify damping due to microsliding at the beam–clamp interface. The mechanical characterization of the clamped connection is carried out by experimental dynamic tests on a free-clamped structure. The instantaneous frequencies and damping are identified by the wavelet transform technique of a slightly nonlinear system. In parallel, numerical prediction of the equivalent damping is achieved thanks to the implementation of the regularized Coulomb law in a finite element model. A genetic algorithm and artificial neural networks are used to update the stiffness parameter and the friction coefficient. The optimized model is in good agreement with experimental results. It allows for determining the spatial distribution of microsliding and tangential force along the contact interface. The dissipated energy and equivalent damping are finally deduced according to the dynamic deflection of the free part of the beam.  相似文献

Graphene is a broadband, fast saturable absorber well suited for passive mode-locking of lasers. The broadband absorption, ultra-short recovery time, and low cost of graphene absorbers compare favorably with traditional semiconductor saturable absorber mirrors (SESAMs). However, it remains difficult to tailor the parameters of a monolayer graphene absorber such as the modulation depth and the insertion loss; this limits the absorber??s design freedom, which is often required for mode-locking without Q-switching instability. We demonstrate in this work that, by hole-doping graphene chemically to various Fermi levels, the modulation depth and insertion loss are modified. Further control of graphene??s saturable absorption by electric-field gating and its application to active suppression of Q-switching in lasers is discussed.  相似文献

Over the last half century, numerous nonlinear variants of the tuned mass damper have been developed in order to improve attenuation characteristics. In the present study, the performance of a linear oscillator and an absorber with a strongly nonlinear cubic stiffness is evaluated by using numerical methods. This configuration has been of recent interest due to its capability of wide-band energy absorption. However, high amplitude solutions, which would amplify the response of the system, have been shown to often coexist with the low amplitude solutions. The present research is focused on numerically determining the relative strength of the coexisting solutions. Erosion profiles are presented, quantifying the integrity of the system, i.e. the likelihood of converging to a safe, low amplitude response, and providing an indication of the structural safety of a practical absorber system. The results indicate that the high amplitude solutions not only exist but significantly influence the response of the system within the range of expected operating conditions, particularly at excitation frequencies lower than the natural frequency of the linear oscillator. The erosion profiles indicate a 20–40% increase in system integrity for the case of zero damping compared to a small amount of damping, no significant integrity change when adding a small linear stiffness component to the nonlinear absorber, and no significant change in integrity between the midpoint and extreme of the bi-stable range. Additional higher-period solutions are also discovered and evidence of a chaotic response is presented.  相似文献
