Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) study of VO2+ doped zinc potassium phosphate hexahydrate single crystal is carried out. The angular variation of the spectra is studied in the three crystallographic planes. The principal value of spin Hamiltonian parameters g and A and the direction cosines which principal axes make with the crystallographic axes are determined. The observed values are site I: g=1.9664±0.0002, g=1.9973±0.0002, A=150±2×10−4, A=60±2×10−4 cm−1; site II: g=1.9276±0.0002, g=1.9921±0.0002, A=155±2×10−4 and A=62±2×10−4 cm−1. By comparison of direction cosines of g from EPR with the direction cosines of different bonds obtained from crystal structure data it is ascertained that the VO2+ ion occupies Zn2+ substitutional sites. The optical absorption study of the crystal at room temperature is also carried out. The bands observed in the optical absorption spectrum are attributed to d-d transitions. The EPR results together with the optical data are employed to estimate the molecular orbital (MO) coefficients. These MO coefficients (also called bonding coefficients) are further used to discuss the nature of bonding of VO2+ ion with different ligands in the crystal.  相似文献

Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) studies of V O2+ ions in L-asparagine monohydrate single crystals are reported at room temperature. It is found that the V O2+ ion takes up an interstitial site. The angular variations of the EPR spectra in three mutually perpendicular planes are used to determine the principal g and A values and their direction cosines. The values of g and A parameters are: gx=1.9011, gy=2.1008, gz=1.9891 and Ax=100, Ay=78, Az=126 (×10−4) cm−1. The optical absorption spectrum of V O2+ ions in L-asparagine monohydrate is also studied at room temperature. The band positions are calculated using the energy expressions and compared with the observed band positions to confirm the transitions. The best-fit values of the crystal field (Dq) and tetragonal (Ds and Dt) parameters are evaluated from the observed band positions.  相似文献

EPR spectra of Cr3+ ions doped in potassium sodium dl-tartrate tetrahydrate single crystals are recorded at 77 K. The spin Hamiltonian and zero field parameters g, |D| and |E| are measured from the resonance lines obtained at various rotations of the magnetic field. The values obtained are: gx=1.9257±0.0002, gy=1.9720±0.0002, gz=2.0102±0.0002, |D|=313±2 (×10−4) cm−1 and |E|=101±2 (×10−4) cm−1. From the results of EPR study, the site symmetry of Cr3+ ion in the crystal is discussed. The optical absorption at room temperature is also studied. From the observed band positions, the crystal field splitting parameter (Dq) and the Racah inter-electronic repulsion parameters (B and C) are evaluated. The bonding parameters are obtained by correlating optical and EPR data and the nature of bonding in the crystal is discussed.  相似文献

Electron spin resonance (ESR) of Cu2+ doped cadmium formate dihydrate single crystal was studied at room temperature. Copper enters the lattice substitutionally and is trapped at two magnetically inequivalent sites. The observed spectra are fitted to a spin-Hamiltonian of rhombic symmetry with the following values of the spin-Hamiltonian parameters, Cu2+(I): gx=2.097±0.002, gy=2.1166±0.002, gz=2.2887±0.002 and Ax=(140±2)×10−4 cm−1, Ay=(151±2)×10−4 cm−1, Az=(239±2)×10−4 cm−1, Cu2+(II): gx=2.0843±0.002, gy=2.1045±0.002, gz=2.2742±0.002 and Ax=(141±2)×10−4 cm−1, Ay=(158±2)×10−4 cm−1, Az=(267±2)×10−4 cm−1. The ground state wave function of the Cu2+ ion in this lattice is evaluated. It is found that the ground state is predominantly |x2y2〉. The g-factor anisotropy is also calculated and compared with the experimental value. With the help of the optical absorption study, the nature of bonding in the complex has been discussed.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Single-crystal and powder EPR studies of VO2+-doped lithium hydroxylammonium sulphate (LiNH3OHSO4) were carried out at room temperature. The results indicate the presence of two magnetically inequivalent VO2+ sites. The VO2+ ion takes up a substitutional position in the host lattice. The angular variation of EPR spectra in three mutually perpendicular planes were used to determine the spin Hamiltonian parameters, and the values obtained were the following: For Site 1, gx = 2.0249 ± 0.0002, gy = 1.9698 ± 0.0002, gz = 1.9552 ± 0.0002, Ax = (51 ± 2) × 10?4 cm?1, Ay = (93 ± 2) × 10?4 cm?1, and Az = (165 ± 2) × 10?4 cm?1; and for Site 2, gx = 2.0267 ± 0.0002, gy = 1.9743 ± 0.0002, gz = 1.9213 ± 0.0002, Ax = (40 ± 2) × 10?4 cm?1, Ay = (80 ± 2) × 10?4 cm?1, and Az = (155 ± 2) × 10?4 cm?1. The optical absorption spectrum recorded at room temperature shows four bands. From the optical and EPR data, various molecular coefficients are evaluated, and the nature of bonding in the crystal is discussed.  相似文献

Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), optical absorption and emission spectra of Cr3+ ions doped in (30−x) (NaPO3)6+30PbO+40B2O3+xCr2O3 (x=0.5, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0 mol%) glasses have been studied. The EPR spectra exhibit resonance signals with effective g values at g≈4.55 and g≈1.97. The EPR spectra of x=3.0 mol% of Cr2O3 in sodium-lead borophosphate glass sample were studied at various temperatures (295-123 K). The intensity of the resonance signals increases with decrease in temperature. The optical absorption spectrum exhibits four bands characteristic of Cr3+ ions in octahedral symmetry. From the analysis of the bands, the crystal-field parameter Dq and the Racah interelectronic repulsion parameters B and C have been evaluated. The emission spectrum exhibit one broad band characteristic of Cr3+ ions in octahedral symmetry. This band has been assigned to the transition 4T2g (F)→4A2g (F). Correlating EPR and optical data, the molecular bonding coefficient (α) has been evaluated.  相似文献

Electron paramagnetic resonance spectra of Cu2+ impurities in cytosine hydrochloride single crystals are observed at liquid nitrogen temperature. Two magnetically equivalent sites for Cu2+ have been observed. The parameters of 63Cu obtained with the fitting of spectra to rhombic symmetry spin Hamiltonian are: g x  = 2.047 ± 0.002, g y  = 2.187 ± 0.002, g z  = 2.390 ± 0.002, A x  = (86 ± 3) × 10?4 cm?1, A y  = (87 ± 3) × 10?4 cm?1, and A z  = (138 ± 3) × 10?4 cm?1. The observed bands in optical spectra of the single crystal recorded at room temperature are assigned to various d–d and charge-transfer transitions. Using both EPR and optical data, the nature of bonding of metal ion with different ligands is discussed.  相似文献

The effect of Li2O content in vanadyl doped 20ZnO+xLi2O+(30−x)Na2O+50B2O3 (5≤x≥25) glasses has been studied with respect to their physical and structural properties. The absence of sharp peaks in XRD spectra of these glass samples confirms the amorphous nature. The physical parameters like density, refractive index, ionic concentration and electronic polarizability vary non-linearly with x mol% depending on the diffusivities of alkali ions. EPR and optical absorption spectra reveal that the resonance signals are characteristics of VO2+ ions in tetragonally compressed octahedral site. Spin-Hamiltonian, crystal field, tetragonal field and bonding parameters are found to be in good agreement with the other reported glass systems. The tetragonal distortion (g-g) and Dt reveals that their values vary non-linearly with Li2O content and reaches a minimum at x=10 mol%. An anomaly of character has been observed in all the properties of vanadyl doped glass systems, which gives a clear indication of mixed alkali effect.  相似文献

In this study, the spin-Hamiltonian parameters (g and A), molecular orbital coefficients, and other spectroscopic properties of vanadyl-doped sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate (NaH2PO4·2H2O) powders have been investigated by experimental and theoretical methods, including electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and optical absorption spectroscopies. The results show axially symmetric crystalline field around VO2+ ion. The optical absorption spectra exhibit three characteristic bands of VO2+ ions in tetragonal symmetry. EPR and optical data were used in a complementary way to calculate spin-Hamiltonian parameters and molecular orbital coefficients. The octahedral and the tetragonal field parameters were theoretically calculated on the basis of crystal field theory. These parameters were used to determine various bonding parameters which characterize the nature of bonding in the complex. The theoretical results are supported by experimental results.  相似文献

EPR study of Cr3+-doped tetramethyl cadmium chloride (TMCC) single crystals is carried out at room temperature. The crystal field and spin-Hamiltonian parameters are evaluated from the resonance line positions of different lines observed in the EPR spectra. The g and D parameter values are found to be g=1.9741±0.0002 and D=553±2×10−4 cm−1, respectively. EPR data indicate that the site symmetry of Cr3+ ion in the crystal is distorted octahedron. Cr3+ ions enter the lattice substitutionally replacing Cd2+ sites and bind to the neighboring extra Cd vacancies necessary for charge compensation. The optical absorption spectra are measured in 195–925 nm wavelength range at room temperature. From optical study the energy values of different orbital levels are estimated. Further, the bonding parameters are obtained by correlating optical and EPR data and the nature of bonding in the crystal is discussed. The values of Racah parameters (B and C), crystal field parameter (Dq) and nephelauxetic parameters (h and k) are obtained to be B=722, C=2845, Dq=2043 cm−1, h=1.015 and k=0.21.  相似文献

X-band electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) study of Cr3+-doped dipotassium tetrachloropalladate single crystal is done at liquid nitrogen temperature. EPR spectrum shows two sites. The spin-Hamiltonian parameters have been evaluated by employing hyperfine resonance lines observed in EPR spectra for different orientations of crystal in externally applied magnetic field. The values of spin-Hamiltonian and zero-field splitting (ZFS) parameters of Cr3+ ion-doped DTP for site I are: g x  = 2.096 ± 0.002, g y  = 2.167 ± 0.002, g z  = 2.220 ± 0.002, D = (89 ± 2) × 10?4 cm?1, E = (16 ± 2) × 10?4 cm?1. EPR study indicates that Cr3+ ion enters the host lattice substitutionally replacing K+ ion and local site symmetry reduces to orthorhombic. Optical absorption spectra are recorded at room temperature. From the optical absorption study, the Racah parameters (B = 521 cm?1, C = 2,861 cm?1), cubic crystal field splitting parameter (Dq = 1,851 cm?1) and nephelauxetic parameters (h = 2.06, k = 0.21) are determined. These parameters together with EPR data are used to discuss the nature of bonding in the crystal.  相似文献

EPR and optical absorption studies on Fe3+ and Mn2+ doped strontium tetraborate (SrB4O7) glasses are carried out at room temperature. The EPR spectrum of the Fe3+ doped glass consists of signals with g-values 9.04, 4.22 and 2.04, whereas the EPR spectrum of Mn2+ doped glass exhibits a characteristic hyperfine sextet around g=2.0. The spectroscopic analyses of the obtained results confirmed distorted octahedral site symmetry for the Fe3+ and Mn2+ impurity ions. Crystal field and Racah parameters evaluated from optical absorption spectra are: Dq=790, B=700 and C=3000 cm−1 for Fe3+doped glass and Dq=880, B=700 and C=2975 cm−1 for Mn2+ doped glass.  相似文献

We investigated the crystal growth, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and optical absorption spectra of l-threonine doped with Cu2+. The quality, size and habit of the single crystals grown from aqueous solution by the slow solvent evaporation and by the cooling methods vary when the impurities are introduced during the growth process. The variations with the magnetic field orientation of the EPR spectra of single-crystal samples at room temperature and 9.77 GHz in three crystal planes (ab, bc and ac) show the presence of copper impurities in four symmetry-related sites of the unit cell. These spectra display well resolved hyperfine couplings of the of Cu2+ with the ICu= of the copper nuclei. Additional hyperfine splittings, well-resolved only for specific orientations of the magnetic field, indicate that the copper impurity ions in the interstitial sites have two N ligands with similar hyperfine couplings. The principal values of the g and ACu tensors calculated from the EPR data are g1=2.051(1), g2=2.062(2), g3=2.260(2), ACu,1=16.9(5)×10−4 cm−1, ACu,2=21.8(6)×10−4 cm−1, ACu,3=180.0(5)×10−4 cm−1. The principal directions corresponding to g3 and to ACu,3 are coincident within the experimental errors, reflecting the orientation of the bonding planes of the copper ions in the crystal. The values of the crystal field energies are evaluated from the optical absorption spectrum, and the crystal field and bonding parameters of the Cu impurities in the crystal are calculated and analyzed. The EPR and optical absorption results are discussed in terms of the crystal structure of l-threonine and the electronic structure of the Cu2+ ions, and compared with data reported for other systems. The effects of the impurities in the growth and habit of the crystals are also discussed.  相似文献

The molecular orbital coefficients and the EPR parameters of trisodium citrate dihydrate, sodium hydrogen oxalate monohydrate, potassium d-gluconate monohydrate and L-Alanine vanadyl complexes are calculated theoretically. Two d-d transition spectra and EPR parameters for the VO2+ complex are calculated theoretically by using crystal-field theory. The calculated g and A paramaters have indicated that paramagnetic center is axially symmetric. Having the relations of ggge and AA for VO2+ ions, it can be concluded that VO2+ ions are located in distorted octahedral sites (C4v) elongated along the z-axis and the ground state of the paramagnetic electron is dxy.  相似文献

Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), optical absorption, and luminescence spectral studies of Mn2+ ions doped in (30−x) (NaPO3)6+30PbO+40B2O3+xMnO2 (x=1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, and 5.0 mol%) glasses have been studied. The EPR spectra exhibit resonance signals with effective g value at geff≈2.02 with six line hyperfine structure. A weak resonance signal with effective g value at geff≈4.3 is also observed for higher concentrations of Mn2+ ions. The EPR spectra of x =3.0 mol% of Mn2+ in sodium-lead borophosphate glass sample have been studied at various temperatures. It is observed that the resonance signal intensity decreases with increase in temperature. The optical absorption spectrum exhibits bands characteristic of Mn2+ ions in octahedral symmetry. From the analysis of the bands, the crystal-field parameter Dq and the Racah interelectronic repulsion parameters B and C have been evaluated. The emission spectrum exhibits single broad band in the green region.  相似文献
