Coal fly ash leaching process for As and Se is studied. Environmental parameters such as pH, temperature, solid-liquid ratio, particle size and leaching time are taken into account in order to simulate As and Se leaching process for disposal coal fly ash. Analysis of reference materials was carried out by using of hydride generation coupled to atomic fluorescence spectrometry. Plackett-Burman experimental design is used to know the significative parameters, and Box-Behnken experimental design is used to refine the results obtained for these significative parameters. pH and temperature shown a hardly influence in leaching process. Furthermore, leaching time was also significative. According our results, it may be assumed that percentage of As and Se leaching in experimental conditions tested is relatively low for acidic fly ashes.  相似文献

An anion exchange HPLC-ICP-MS procedure allowing the simultaneous multielemental speciation analysis of arsenic, selenium, antimony and tellurium has been developed. Four arsenic species (AsIII, AsV, monomethylarsonic acid and dimethylarsinic acid), two selenium species (SeIV and SeVI) may be determined in a single run as well as one antimony (SbV) and one tellurium species (TeVI). Alternatively Sb and/or Te may be used as internal standards for As and Se speciation studies. Optimisation of ICP-MS conditions led to satisfactory relative (0.01 (SbV) to 1.8 (SeVI) ng ml−1) and absolute detection limits (1–180 pg). Reproducibility ranged from 3.1 to 5.6% and the linearity was verified in the 0–200 ng ml−1 range.  相似文献

A method is described for determination of selenium in sediment by isotope-dilution inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry with an octapole reaction cell (ID–ICP–ORCMS). Sediment samples were digested with HNO3, HClO4, and HF, and the digestion included an elaborate evaporation process to remove bromine from the digested solution. Simple strong cation-exchange disk filtration was used to remove rare earth elements (REE) from the digested solution, because REE2+ seriously interfere with Se isotopes (i.e. 156Gd2+ with 78Se+, 160Gd2+ with 80Se+). Addition of acetic acid to the filtrate was examined to improve the sensitivity of ICP–ORCMS measurement of Se+ by means of a carbon-enhancement effect. The interfering for selenium isotopes were almost eliminated by use of H2 as reaction gas. Interference from BrH+ formed in the reaction cell was negligible because the Br was removed in the evaporation process. Approximately 99.5% of REE were removed by cation-exchange disk filtration yet more than 99% of Se remained in the filtrate solution. The intensity for Se+ was enhanced approximately fourfold by addition of 5% (v/v) of acetic acid whereas that for was barely enhanced. Measured 80Se/78Se ratios in unspiked digested solutions of the sample were in good agreement with that for an Se standard solution. The analytical results for Se in the certified reference materials MESS-3 and PACS-1 were in good agreement with their certified values, with small uncertainties.   相似文献

Summary Separation of seven inorganic and organic selenium compounds, namely selenic acid [Se(VI)], selenous acid [Se(IV)], trimethylselenonium iodide (TMSe+), selenocystine (SeCys), selenomethionine (SeMet), selenoethionine (Seet), and selenocystamine (SeCM), has been performed on a LiChrosorb C 18 column by using mixed ion-pair reagents; 1-butanesulfonic acid and tetramethylammonium hydroxide. Flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) was used as an element-specific detector. The retention behaviors of selenium compounds in terms of several chromatographic parameters, such as pH of the mobile phase, the concentrations of ion-pair reagents, and the content of organic modifier (methanol) were investigated. It was found that the separation of both inorganic and organic selenium compounds can be achieved within 12 min with a mobile phase of 10 mM 1-butanesulfonic acid −4 mM tetramethylammonium hydroxide −4 mM malonic acid −0.05% methanol adjusted to pH 4.5 at a flow rate of 1.0 mL min−1. The results obtained in this study showed that the use of mixed ion-pair reagents is very useful to improve the separation of selenium compounds. The applicability of this technique for the speciation of selenium compounds in real samples was demonstrated by the determination of selenium compounds in a selenium nutritional supplement. The results were found to be in good agreement with those obtained by ion-exchange HPLC-ICP-MS.  相似文献

A method for the determination of total mercury in coal fly ash by gold amalgamation cold vapour atomic absorption spectrometry (CV-AAS) was optimized. Most of the experiments were performed on NBS SRM 1633a Coal Fly Ash with a certified value of 160 ± 10 ng Hg g?1. The main attention was focused on the decomposition of the sample. The efficacy of pressure decompositions in closed silica and sealed Pyrex tubes using various combinations of acids (HNO3, HCl, HClO4) was compared with oxidative combustion of the coal fly ash. Notwithstanding the incomplete mineralization of the sample in sealed tubes, the results obtained showed good agreement with the certified value and results obtained by neutron activation analysis (NAA), which suggests that mercury is quantitatively released from the sample into solution. Lower results were obtained using decomposition in closed (but not hermetically sealed) silica tubes owing to losses of mercury by volatilization during decomposition. Interferences from some metal ions (nickel, lead, copper, silver, palladium, zinc and antimony) were also examined. The results showed a serious depression of the mercury signal only when gold, palladium and platinum were present at higher concentrations, which never or very seldom occur in fly ash matrices, and therefore do not represent a limitation of the method.  相似文献

A simple procedure was developed for the direct determination of As(III) and As(V) in water samples by flow injection hydride generation atomic absorption spectrometry (FI–HG–AAS), without pre-reduction of As(V). The flow injection system was operated in the merging zones configuration, where sample and NaBH4 are simultaneously injected into two carrier streams, HCl and H2O, respectively. Sample and reagent injected volumes were of 250 μl and flow rate of 3.6 ml min−1 for hydrochloric acid and de-ionised water. The NaBH4 concentration was maintained at 0.1% (w/v), it would be possible to perform arsine selective generation from As(III) and on-line arsine generation with 3.0% (w/v) NaBH4 to obtain total arsenic concentration. As(V) was calculated as the difference between total As and As(III). Both procedures were tolerant to potential interference. So, interference such as Fe(III), Cu(II), Ni(II), Sb(III), Sn(II) and Se(IV) could, at an As(III) level of 0.1 mg l−1, be tolerated at a weight excess of 5000, 5000, 500, 100, 10 and 5 times, respectively. With the proposed procedure, detection limits of 0.3 ng ml−1 for As(III) and 0.5 ng ml−1 for As(V) were achieved. The relative standard deviations were of 2.3% for 0.1 mg l−1 As(III) and 2.0% for 0.1 mg l−1 As(V). A sampling rate of about 120 determinations per hour was achieved, requiring 30 ml of NaBH4 and waste generation in order of 450 ml. The method was shown to be satisfactory for determination of traces arsenic in water samples. The assay of a certified drinking water sample was 81.7±1.7 μg l−1 (certified value 80.0±0.5 μg l−1).  相似文献

An unusual route to the maleonitrilediselenolate (mns) ligand has been discovered with the isolation of compounds that contain this ligand bound to silver (structure shown on the right) or antimony. The formation of the [As(Se)3(CH2CN)]2− anion along with possible pathways to the mns ligands is discussed.  相似文献

Microwave-acid digestion (MW-AD) followed by inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES), graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (GFAAS), and hydride generation atomic absorption spectrometry (HGAAS) were examined for the determination of various elements in coal and coal fly ash (CFA). Eight certified reference materials (four coal samples and four CFA samples) were tested. The 10 elements (As, Be, Cd, Co, Cr, Mn, Ni, Pb, Sb, and Se), which are described in the Clean Air Act Amendments (CAAA), were especially considered. For coal, the HF-free MW-AD followed by ICP-AES was successful in the determination of various elements except for As, Be, Cd, Sb, and Se. These elements (except for Sb) were well-determined by use of GFAAS (Be and Cd) and HGAAS (As and Se). For CFA, the addition of HF in the digestion acid mixture was needed for the determination of elements, except for As, Sb, and Se, for which the HF-free MW-AD was applicable. The use of GFAAS (Be and Cd) or HGAAS (Sb and Se) resulted in the successful determination of the elements for which ICP-AES did not work well. The protocol for the determination of the 10 elements in coal and CFA by MW-AD followed by the joint-use of ICP-AES, GFAAS, and HGAAS was established.  相似文献

A rapid ultrasound-assisted extraction procedure for the determination of total mercury, inorganic and methyl mercury (MM) in various environmental matrices (animal tissues, samples of plant origin and coal fly ash) has been developed. The mercury contents were estimated by cold vapour atomic absorption spectrometry (CVAAS). Inorganic mercury (IM) was determined using SnCl2 as reducing agent whereas total mercury was determined after oxidation of methyl mercury through UV irradiation. Operational parameters such as extractant composition (HNO3 and thiourea), sonication time and sonication amplitude found to be different for different matrices and were optimized using IAEA-350 (Fish homogenate), IM and MM loaded moss and NIST-1633b (Coal fly ash) to get quantitative extraction of total mercury. The method was further validated through the analysis of additional certified reference materials (RM): NRCC-DORM2 (Dogfish muscle), NRCC-DOLT1 (Dogfish liver) and IAEA-336 (Lichen). Quantitative recovery of total Hg was achieved using mixtures of 5% HNO3 and 0.02% thiourea, 10% HNO3 and 0.02% thiourea, 20% HNO3 and 0.2% thiourea for fish tissues, plant matrices and coal fly ash samples, respectively. The results obtained were in close agreement with certified values with an overall precision in the range of 5-15%. The proposed ultrasound-assisted extraction procedure significantly reduces the time required for sample treatment for the extraction of Hg species. The extracted mercury species are very stable even after 24 h of sonication. Closed microwave digestion was also used for comparison purposes. The proposed method was applied for the determination of Hg in field samples of lichens, mosses, coal fly ash and coal samples  相似文献

A procedure for the extraction and determination of methyl mercury and mercury (II) in fish muscle tissues and sediment samples is presented. The procedure involves extraction with 5% (v/v) 2-mercaptoethanol, separation and determination of mercury species by HPLC-ICPMS using a Perkin-Elmer 3 μm C8 (33 mm × 3 mm) column and a mobile phase 3 containing 0.5% (v/v) 2-mercaptoethanol and 5% (v/v) CH3OH (pH 5.5) at a flow rate 1.5 ml min−1 and a temperature of 25 °C. Calibration curves for methyl mercury (I) and mercury (II) standards were linear in the range of 0-100 μg l−1 (r2 = 0.9990 and r2 = 0.9995 respectively). The lowest measurable mercury was 0.4 μg l−1 which corresponds to 0.01 μg g−1 in fish tissues and sediments. Methyl mercury concentrations measured in biological certified reference materials, NRCC DORM - 2 Dogfish muscle (4.4 ± 0.8 μg g−1), NRCC Dolt - 3 Dogfish liver (1.55 ± 0.09 μg g−1), NIST RM 50 Albacore Tuna (0.89 ± 0.08 μg g−1) and IRMM IMEP-20 Tuna fish (3.6 ± 0.6 μg g−1) were in agreement with the certified value (4.47 ± 0.32 μg g−1, 1.59 ± 0.12 μg g−1, 0.87 ± 0.03 μg g−1, 4.24 ± 0.27 μg g−1 respectively). For the sediment reference material ERM CC 580, a methyl mercury concentration of 0.070 ± 0.002 μg g−1 was measured which corresponds to an extraction efficiency of 92 ± 3% of certified values (0.076 ± 0.04 μg g−1) but within the range of published values (0.040-0.084 μg g−1; mean ± s.d.: 0.073 ± 0.05 μg g−1, n = 40) for this material. The extraction procedure for the fish tissues was also compared against an enzymatic extraction using Protease type XIV that has been previously published and similar results were obtained. The use of HPLC-HGAAS with a Phenomenox 5 μm Luna C18 (250 mm × 4.6 mm) column and a mobile phase containing 0.06 mol l−1 ammonium acetate (Merck Pty Limited, Australia) in 5% (v/v) methanol and 0.1% (w/v) l-cysteine at 25 °C was evaluated as a complementary alternative to HPLC-ICPMS for the measurement of mercury species in fish tissues. The lowest measurable mercury concentration was 2 μg l−1 and this corresponds to 0.1 μg g−1 in fish tissues. Analysis of enzymatic extracts analysed by HPLC-HGAAS and HPLC-ICPMS gave equivalent results.  相似文献

A new chemiluminescence (CL) method for the selective determination of As(III) and As(V) ions in aqueous solution has been studied using a FIA system. The method is based on the increased CL intensity with the addition of As(V) ion into a solution of lucigenin and hydrogen peroxide. The addition of As(III) ion into the solution did not change the CL intensity. Total concentration of As ions was determined after pre-oxidation of As(III) to As(V) with hydrogen peroxide in basic solution. The As(III) content was estimated by subtracting the content of As(V) ion from total As concentration. The effects of concentrations of KOH and H2O2, and flow rates of reagents on CL intensity have been investigated. The calibration curve for As(V) ion was linear over the range from 1.0×10-2 to 10 μg/g, the coefficient of correlation was 0.997 and the detection limit was 5.0×10-3 μg/g under the optimal experimental conditions.  相似文献

A new procedure for Co determination in a complex matrix (coal fly ash) by slurry extraction-electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS) is presented. Fractional experimental designs were applied to find the most important variables affecting Co extraction. Two liquid media (HCl + HNO3 and HF) and three agitation modes (ultrasonic probe, ultrasonic bath and manual shaking) were assayed. HF revealed as the most suitable medium for Co extraction, being its concentration and time of contact the most significant variables. Quantitative extraction was obtained after their optimisation (16%, v/v HF; 5 min), with good accuracy (coal fly ash SRM 1633a and SRM 1633b) and precision (R.S.D. < 11.5%). The limit of detection of the method was 0.02 μg g−1 (100 mg mL−1 slurry), and the characteristic mass was 15 ± 1 pg. The ‘slurry-extraction procedure’ established is simple, fast, cheap and was also validated for soil and sediment analysis. As far as we know, a slurry-extraction procedure has not yet been applied to quantify cobalt by ETAAS in such matrices. Moreover, nine coal fly ashes, 12 sediments and 18 soils were analysed by the proposed method and also by a direct slurry sampling-ETAAS procedure in order to compare their performance. In general, the HF-extraction slurry procedure revealed superior.  相似文献

Summary A method for determining aromatic sulfonates in sea water is presented. Ion-pair solid phase extraction is coupled on-line to ion-pair liquid chromatography with UV detection. In the enrichment step, the recoveries from 100 mL of sea water were higher than 65% for most analytes. Linearity was good and detection limits were between 0.02 and 1 μgL−1. The repeatability of the method, expressed as % of relative standard deviation (n=3) was between 1 and 15%. The method was checked in coastal water near the commercial port of Tarragona, where effluents from the petrochemical industry are discharged. All the samples taken were found to contain 2-naphthalenesulfonate.  相似文献
