We show that symmetric block designs \({\mathcal {D}}=({\mathcal {P}},{\mathcal {B}})\) can be embedded in a suitable commutative group \({\mathfrak {G}}_{\mathcal {D}}\) in such a way that the sum of the elements in each block is zero, whereas the only Steiner triple systems with this property are the point-line designs of \({\mathrm {PG}}(d,2)\) and \({\mathrm {AG}}(d,3)\). In both cases, the blocks can be characterized as the only k-subsets of \(\mathcal {P}\) whose elements sum to zero. It follows that the group of automorphisms of any such design \(\mathcal {D}\) is the group of automorphisms of \({\mathfrak {G}}_\mathcal {D}\) that leave \(\mathcal {P}\) invariant. In some special cases, the group \({\mathfrak {G}}_\mathcal {D}\) can be determined uniquely by the parameters of \(\mathcal {D}\). For instance, if \(\mathcal {D}\) is a 2-\((v,k,\lambda )\) symmetric design of prime order p not dividing k, then \({\mathfrak {G}}_\mathcal {D}\) is (essentially) isomorphic to \(({\mathbb {Z}}/p{\mathbb {Z}})^{\frac{v-1}{2}}\), and the embedding of the design in the group can be described explicitly. Moreover, in this case, the blocks of \(\mathcal {B}\) can be characterized also as the v intersections of \(\mathcal {P}\) with v suitable hyperplanes of \(({\mathbb {Z}}/p{\mathbb {Z}})^{\frac{v-1}{2}}\).  相似文献

Let \({\mathcal{L}(X)}\) be the algebra of all bounded operators on a Banach space X. \({\theta:G\rightarrow \mathcal{L}(X)}\) denotes a strongly continuous representation of a topological abelian group G on X. Set \({\sigma^1(\theta(g)):=\{\lambda/|\lambda|,\lambda\in\sigma(\theta(g))\}}\), where σ(θ(g)) is the spectrum of θ(g) and \({\Sigma:=\{g\in G/\enskip\text{there is no} \enskip P\in \mathcal{P}/P\subseteq \sigma^1(\theta(g))\}}\), where \({\mathcal{P}}\) is the set of regular polygons of \({\mathbb{T}}\) (we call polygon in \({\mathbb{T}}\) the image by a rotation of a closed subgroup of \({\mathbb{T}}\), the unit circle of \({\mathbb{C}}\)). We prove here that if G is a locally compact and second countable abelian group, then θ is uniformly continuous if and only if Σ is non-meager.  相似文献

Let \(X=G/P\) be a real projective quadric, where \(G=O(p,\,q)\) and P is a parabolic subgroup of G. Let \((\pi _{\lambda ,\epsilon },\, \mathcal H_{\lambda ,\epsilon })_{ (\lambda ,\epsilon )\in {\mathbb {C}}\times \{\pm \}}\) be the family of (smooth) representations of G induced from the characters of P. For \((\lambda ,\, \epsilon ),\, (\mu ,\, \eta )\in {\mathbb {C}}\times \{\pm \},\) a differential operator \(\mathbf D_{(\mu ,\eta )}^\mathrm{reg}\) on \(X\times X,\) acting G-covariantly from \({\mathcal {H}}_{\lambda ,\epsilon } \otimes {\mathcal {H}}_{\mu , \eta }\) into \({\mathcal {H}}_{\lambda +1,-\epsilon } \otimes {\mathcal {H}}_{\mu +1, -\eta }\) is constructed.  相似文献

Given a partition \(\lambda \) of n, the Schur functor \({\mathbb {S}}_\lambda \) associates to any complex vector space V, a subspace \({\mathbb {S}}_\lambda (V)\) of \(V^{\otimes n}\). Hermite’s reciprocity law, in terms of the Schur functor, states that \({\mathbb {S}}_{(p)}\left( {\mathbb {S}}_{(q)}({\mathbb {C}}^2)\right) \simeq {\mathbb {S}}_{(q)}\left( {\mathbb {S}}_{(p)}({\mathbb {C}}^2)\right) . \) We extend this identity to many other identities of the type \({\mathbb {S}}_{\lambda }\left( {\mathbb {S}}_{\delta }({\mathbb {C}}^2)\right) \simeq {\mathbb {S}}_{\mu }\left( {\mathbb {S}}_{\epsilon }({\mathbb {C}}^2)\right) \).  相似文献

A design is said to be super-simple if the intersection of any two blocks has at most two elements. A super-simple design \({\mathcal{D}}\) with point set X, block set \({\mathcal{B}}\) and index λ is called completely reducible super-simple (CRSS), if its block set \({\mathcal{B}}\) can be written as \({\mathcal{B}=\bigcup_{i=1}^{\lambda} \mathcal{B}_i}\), such that \({\mathcal{B}_i}\) forms the block set of a design with index unity but having the same parameters as \({\mathcal{D}}\) for each 1 ≤ i ≤ λ. It is easy to see, the existence of CRSS designs with index λ implies that of CRSS designs with index i for 1 ≤ i ≤ λ. CRSS designs are closely related to q-ary constant weight codes (CWCs). A (v, 4, q)-CRSS design is just an optimal (v, 6, 4)q+1 code. On the other hand, CRSS group divisible designs (CRSSGDDs) can be used to construct q-ary group divisible codes (GDCs), which have been proved useful in the constructions of q-ary CWCs. In this paper, we mainly investigate the existence of CRSS designs. Three neat results are obtained as follows. Firstly, we determine completely the spectrum for a (v, 4, 3)-CRSS design. As a consequence, a class of new optimal (v, 6, 4)4 codes is obtained. Secondly, we give a general construction for (4, 4)-CRSSGDDs with skew Room frames, and prove that the necessary conditions for the existence of a (4, 2)-CRSSGDD of type g u are also sufficient except definitely for \({(g,u)\in \{(2,4),(3,4),(6,4)\}}\). Finally, we consider the related optimal super-simple (v, 4, 2)-packings and show that such designs exist for all v ≥ 4 except definitely for \({v\in \{4,5,6,9\}}\).  相似文献

Let X be a non-void set and A be a subalgebra of \({\mathbb{C}^{X}}\) . We call a \({\mathbb{C}}\) -linear functional \({\varphi}\) on A a 1-evaluation if \({\varphi(f) \in f(X) }\) for all \({f\in A}\) . From the classical Gleason–Kahane–?elazko theorem, it follows that if X in addition is a compact Hausdorff space then a mapping \({\varphi}\) of \({C_{\mathbb{C}}(X) }\) into \({\mathbb{C}}\) is a 1-evaluation if and only if \({\varphi}\) is a \({\mathbb{C}}\) -homomorphism. In this paper, we aim to investigate the extent to which this equivalence between 1-evaluations and \({\mathbb{C}}\) -homomorphisms can be generalized to a wider class of self-conjugate subalgebras of \({\mathbb{C}^{X}}\) . In this regards, we prove that a \({\mathbb{C}}\) -linear functional on a self-conjugate subalgebra A of \({\mathbb{C}^{X}}\) is a positive \({\mathbb{C}}\) -homomorphism if and only if \({\varphi}\) is a \({\overline{1}}\) -evaluation, that is, \({\varphi(f) \in\overline{f\left(X\right)}}\) for all \({f\in A}\) . As consequences of our general study, we prove that 1-evaluations and \({\mathbb{C}}\) -homomorphisms on \({C_{\mathbb{C}}\left( X\right)}\) coincide for any topological space X and we get a new characterization of realcompact topological spaces.  相似文献

Given an i.i.d sample (Y i , Z i ), taking values in \({\mathbb{R}^{d'}\times\mathbb{R}^d}\), we consider a collection Nadarya–Watson kernel estimators of the conditional expectations \({\mathbb{E}( <\,c_g(z),g(Y)>+d_g(z)\mid Z=z)}\), where z belongs to a compact set \({H\subset \mathbb{R}^d}\), g a Borel function on \({\mathbb{R}^{d'}}\) and c g (·), d g (·) are continuous functions on \({\mathbb{R}^d}\). Given two bandwidth sequences \({h_n<\mathfrak{h}_n}\) fulfilling mild conditions, we obtain an exact and explicit almost sure limit bounds for the deviations of these estimators around their expectations, uniformly in \({g\in\mathcal{G},\;z\in H}\) and \({h_n\le h\le \mathfrak{h}_n}\) under mild conditions on the density f Z , the class \({\mathcal{G}}\), the kernel K and the functions c g (·), d g (·). We apply this result to prove that smoothed empirical likelihood can be used to build confidence intervals for conditional probabilities \({\mathbb{P}( Y\in C\mid Z=z)}\), that hold uniformly in \({z\in H,\; C\in \mathcal{C},\; h\in [h_n,\mathfrak{h}_n]}\). Here \({\mathcal{C}}\) is a Vapnik–Chervonenkis class of sets.  相似文献

Perturbation from symmetry for indefinite semilinear elliptic equations   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We prove the existence of an unbounded sequence of solutions for an elliptic equation of the form \({-\Delta u=\lambda u + a(x)g(u)+f(x), u\in H^1_0(\Omega)}\), where \({\lambda \in \mathbb{R}, g(\cdot)}\) is subcritical and superlinear at infinity, and a(x) changes sign in Ω; moreover, g( ? s) =  ? g(s) \({\forall s}\). The proof uses Rabinowitz’s perturbation method applied to a suitably truncated problem; subsequent energy and Morse index estimates allow us to recover the original problem. We consider the case of \({\Omega\subset \mathbb{R}^N}\) bounded as well as \({\Omega=\mathbb{R}^N, \, N\geqslant 3}\).  相似文献

Suppose that \(G =\mathbb{S}^1\) acts freely on a finitistic space X whose (mod p) cohomology ring is isomorphic to that of a lens space \(L^{2m-1}(p;q_1,\ldots,q_m)\) or \(\mathbb{S}^1\times \mathbb{C}P^{m-1}\). The mod p index of the action is defined to be the largest integer n such that α n ?≠?0, where \(\alpha \,\epsilon\, H^2(X/G;\mathbb{Z}_p)\) is the nonzero characteristic class of the \(\mathbb{S}^1\)-bundle \(\mathbb{S}^1\hookrightarrow X\rightarrow X/G\). We show that the mod p index of a free action of G on \(\mathbb{S}^1\times \mathbb{C}P^{m-1}\) is p???1, when it is defined. Using this, we obtain a Borsuk–Ulam type theorem for a free G-action on \(\mathbb{S}^1\times \mathbb{C}P^{m-1}\). It is note worthy that the mod p index for free G-actions on the cohomology lens space is not defined.  相似文献

A covering array \(\text{ CA }(N;t,k,v)\) is an \(N\times k\) array such that in every \(N\times t\) subarray each possible t-tuple over a v-set appears as a row of the subarray at least once. The integers t and v are respectively the strength and the order of the covering array. Let v be a prime power and let \({\mathbb {F}}_v\) denote the finite field with v elements. In this work the original concept of permutation vectors generated by a \((t-1)\)-tuple over \({\mathbb {F}}_v\) is extended to vectors generated by a t-tuple over \({\mathbb {F}}_v\). We call these last vectors extended permutation vectors (EPVs). For every prime power v, a covering perfect hash family \(\text{ CPHF }(2;v^2-v+3,v^3,3)\) is constructed from EPVs given by subintervals of a linear feedback shift register sequence over \({\mathbb {F}}_v\). When \(v\in \{7,9,11,13,16,17,19,23,25\}\) the covering array \(\text{ CA }(2v^3-v;3,v^2-v+3,v)\) generated by \(\text{ CPHF }(2;v^2-v+3,v^3,3)\) has less rows than the best-known covering array with strength three, \(v^2-v+3\) columns, and order v. CPHFs formed by EPVs are also constructed using simulated annealing; in this case the results improve the size of eighteen covering arrays of strength three.  相似文献

Given a smooth, symmetric and homogeneous of degree one function \(f\left( \lambda _{1},\ldots ,\lambda _{n}\right) \) satisfying \(\partial _{i}f>0\quad \forall \,i=1,\ldots , n\), and a properly embedded smooth cone \({\mathcal {C}}\) in \({\mathbb {R}}^{n+1}\), we show that under suitable conditions on f, there is at most one f self-shrinker (i.e. a hypersurface \(\Sigma \) in \({\mathbb {R}}^{n+1}\) satisfying \(f\left( \kappa _{1},\ldots ,\kappa _{n}\right) +\frac{1}{2}X\cdot N=0\), where \(\kappa _{1},\ldots ,\kappa _{n}\) are principal curvatures of \(\Sigma \)) that is asymptotic to the given cone \({\mathcal {C}}\) at infinity.  相似文献

Let \(\mathrm{SM}_{2n}(S^1,\mathbb {R})\) be a set of stable Morse functions of an oriented circle such that the number of singular points is \(2n\in \mathbb {N}\) and the order of singular values satisfies the particular condition. For an orthogonal projection \(\pi :\mathbb {R}^2\rightarrow \mathbb {R}\), let \({\tilde{f}}_0\) and \({\tilde{f}}_1:S^1\rightarrow \mathbb {R}^2\) be embedding lifts of f. If there is an ambient isotopy \(\tilde{\varphi }_t:\mathbb {R}^2\rightarrow \mathbb {R}^2\) \((t\in [0,1])\) such that \({\pi \circ \tilde{\varphi }}_t(y_1,y_2)=y_1\) and \(\tilde{\varphi }_1\circ {\tilde{f}}_0={\tilde{f}}_1\), we say that \({\tilde{f}}_0\) and \({\tilde{f}}_1\) are height isotopic. We define a function \(I:\mathrm{SM}_{2n}(S^1,\mathbb {R})\rightarrow \mathbb {N}\) as follows: I(f) is the number of height isotopy classes of embeddings such that each rotation number is one. In this paper, we determine the maximal value of the function I equals the n-th Baxter number and the minimal value equals \(2^{n-1}\).  相似文献

Let \({\mathbb {F}}_q\) be a finite field with q elements such that \(l^v||(q^t-1)\) and \(\gcd (l,q(q-1))=1\), where lt are primes and v is a positive integer. In this paper, we give all primitive idempotents in a ring \(\mathbb F_q[x]/\langle x^{l^m}-a\rangle \) for \(a\in {\mathbb {F}}_q^*\). Specially for \(t=2\), we give the weight distributions of all irreducible constacyclic codes and their dual codes of length \(l^m\) over \({\mathbb {F}}_q\).  相似文献

Let\(B_{2}^{n}\) denote the Euclidean ball in\({\mathbb R}^n\), and, given closed star-shaped body\(K \subset {\mathbb R}^{n}, M_{K}\) denote the average of the gauge of K on the Euclidean sphere. Let\(p \in (0,1)\) and let\(K \subset {\mathbb R}^{n}\) be a p-convex body. In [17] we proved that for every\(\lambda \in (0,1)\) there exists an orthogonal projection P of rank\((1 - \lambda)n\) such that
$\frac{f(\lambda)}{M_K} PB^{n}_{2} \subset PK,$
where\(f(\lambda)=c_p\lambda^{1+1/p}\) for some positive constant c p depending on p only. In this note we prove that\(f(\lambda)\) can be taken equal to\(C_p\lambda^{1/p-1/2}\). In terms of Kolmogorov numbers it means that for every\(k \leq n\)
$d_k (\hbox{Id}:\ell^{n}_{2} \to ({\mathbb R}^{n},\|\cdot\|_{K})) \leq C_p \frac{n^{1/p-1}}{k^{1/p-1/2}} \ell(\hbox{ID}: \ell^{n}_{2} \to ({\mathbb R}^{n}, \|\cdot\|_{K})),$
where\(\ell(\hbox{Id})={\bf E}\|\sum\limits^{n}_{i=1}g_i e_i\|_K\) for the independent standard Gaussian random variables\(\{g_i\}\) and the canonical basis\(\{e_i\}\) of\({\mathbb R}^n\). All results do not require the symmetry of K.

Let \({\varphi: \mathbb{P}^N_K\to\mathbb{P}^N_K}\) be a morphism of degree d ≥ 2 defined over a field K that is algebraically closed field and complete with respect to a nonarchimedean absolute value. We prove that a modified Green function \({\hat{g}_\varphi}\) associated to \({\varphi}\) is Hölder continuous on \({\mathbb{P}^N(K)}\) and that the Fatou set \({\mathcal{F}(\varphi)}\) of \({\varphi}\) is equal to the set of points at which \({\hat{g}_\Phi}\) is locally constant. Further, \({\hat{g}_\varphi}\) vanishes precisely on the set of points P such that \({\varphi}\) has good reduction at every point in the forward orbit \({\mathcal{O}_\varphi(P)}\) of P. We also prove that the iterates of \({\varphi}\) are locally uniformly Lipschitz on \({\mathcal{F}(\varphi)}\) .  相似文献

A string is a pair \({(L, \mathfrak{m})}\) where \({L \in[0, \infty]}\) and \({\mathfrak{m}}\) is a positive, possibly unbounded, Borel measure supported on [0, L]; we think of L as the length of the string and of \({\mathfrak{m}}\) as its mass density. To each string a differential operator acting in the space \({L^2(\mathfrak{m})}\) is associated. Namely, the Kre?n–Feller differential operator \({-D_{\mathfrak{m}}D_x}\) ; its eigenvalue equation can be written, e.g., as
$$f^{\prime}(x) + z \int_0^L f(y)\,d\mathfrak{m}(y) = 0,\quad x \in\mathbb R,\ f^{\prime}(0-) = 0.$$
A positive Borel measure τ on \({\mathbb R}\) is called a (canonical) spectral measure of the string \({\textsc S[L, \mathfrak{m}]}\) , if there exists an appropriately normalized Fourier transform of \({L^2(\mathfrak{m})}\) onto L 2(τ). In order that a given positive Borel measure τ is a spectral measure of some string, it is necessary that: (1) \({\int_{\mathbb R} \frac{d\tau(\lambda)}{1+|\lambda|} < \infty}\) . (2) Either \({{\rm supp} \tau \subseteq [0, \infty)}\) , or τ is discrete and has exactly one point mass in (?∞, 0). It is a deep result, going back to Kre?n in the 1950’s, that each measure with \({\int_{\mathbb R}\frac{d\tau(\lambda)}{1+|\lambda|} < \infty}\) and \({{\rm supp} \tau \subseteq [0, \infty)}\) is a spectral measure of some string, and that this string is uniquely determined by τ. The question remained open, which conditions characterize whether a measure τ with \({{\rm supp} \tau \not\subseteq [0, \infty)}\) is a spectral measure of some string. In the present paper, we answer this question. Interestingly, the solution is much more involved than the first guess might suggest.

Let X be an algebraic curve over \({\mathbb {Q}}\) and \({t\in {\mathbb {Q}}(X)}\) a non-constant rational function such that \({{\mathbb {Q}}(X)\ne {\mathbb {Q}}(t)}\). For every \({ n \in {\mathbb {Z}}}\) pick \({P_ n \in X(\bar{{\mathbb {Q}}})}\) such that \({t(P_n)=n}\). We conjecture that, for large N, among the number fields \({\mathbb {Q}}(P_1), \ldots , {\mathbb {Q}}(P_N)\) there are at least cN distinct. We prove this conjecture in the special case when \(\bar{{\mathbb {Q}}}(X)/\bar{{\mathbb {Q}}}(t)\) is an abelian field extension and the critical values of t are all rational. This implies, in particular, that our conjecture follows from a more famous conjecture of Schinzel.  相似文献

In this paper we prove the existence of multi-bump solutions for a class of quasilinear Schrödinger equations of the form \({-\Delta{u} + (\lambda{V} (x) + Z(x))u - \Delta(u^{2})u = \beta{h}(u) + u^{22*-1}}\) in the whole space, where h is a continuous function, \({V, Z : \mathbb{R}^{N} \rightarrow \mathbb{R}}\) are continuous functions. We assume that V(x) is nonnegative and has a potential well \({\Omega : = {\rm int} V^{-1}(0)}\) consisting of k components \({\Omega_{1}, \ldots , \Omega{k}}\) such that the interior of Ω i is not empty and \({\partial\Omega_{i}}\) is smooth. By using a change of variables, the quasilinear equations are reduced to a semilinear one, whose associated functionals are well defined in the usual Sobolev space and satisfy the geometric conditions of the mountain pass theorem for suitable assumptions. We show that for any given non-empty subset. \({\Gamma \subset \{1, \ldots ,k\}}\), a bump solution is trapped in a neighborhood of \({\cup_{{j}\in\Gamma}\Omega_{j}}\) for\({\lambda > 0}\) large enough.  相似文献
