Some growth asymptotics of a version of ‘preferential attachment’ random graphs are studied through an embedding into a continuous-time branching scheme. These results complement and extend previous work in the literature.  相似文献

We consider a supercritical branching process (Zn) in an independent and identically distributed random environment ξ, and present some recent results on the asymptotic properties of the limit variable W of the natural martingale Wn = Zn/E[Zn|ξ], the convergence rates of W - Wn (by considering the convergence in law with a suitable norming, the almost sure convergence, the convergence in Lp, and the convergence in probability), and limit theorems (such as central limit theorems, moderate and large deviations principles) on (log Zn).  相似文献

We consider non-extinct branching processes in general random environments. Under the condition of means and second moments of each generation being bounded, we give the upper bounds and lower bounds for some form deviations of the process.  相似文献

Age-dependent branching processes in random environments   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4
We consider an age-dependent branching process in random environments. The environments are represented by a stationary and ergodic sequence ξ = (ξ0,ξ1,...) of random variables. Given an environment ξ, the process is a non-homogenous Galton-Watson process, whose particles in n-th generation have a life length distribution G(ξn) on R , and reproduce independently new particles according to a probability law p(ξn) on N. Let Z(t) be the number of particles alive at time t. We first find a characterization of the conditional probability generating function of Z(t) (given the environment ξ) via a functional equation, and obtain a criterion for almost certain extinction of the process by comparing it with an embedded Galton-Watson process. We then get expressions of the conditional mean EξZ(t) and the global mean EZ(t), and show their exponential growth rates by studying a renewal equation in random environments.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the weak convergence of a sequence of Markov-modulated diffusion processes when the modulating Markov chain is ergodic and rapidly switching. We prove, in particular, its tightness property based on Aldous’ tightness criterion.  相似文献

A set of time series generated by stationary linear processes with an absolutely continuous spectral distribution is analysed. The time series can then be considered realizations of a linear process of random coefficients. Likewise, each spectral density function is a realization of a stochastic process whose function of means is called a population spectrum. We propose a kernel estimator for the population spectrum and give conditions for its consistency. We then illustrate the properties of this estimator in a simulation study and compare its performance with an alternative parametric estimator that can be found in the literature.   相似文献

We prove ratio limit theorems for critical ano supercritical branching Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes. A finite first moment of the offspring distribution {pn} assures convergence in probability for supercritical processes and conditional convergence in probability for critical processes. If even Σpnnlog+log+n< ∞, then almost sure convergence obtains in the supercritical case.  相似文献

Limit theorems for branching Markov processes   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We establish almost sure limit theorems for a branching symmetric Hunt process in terms of the principal eigenvalue and the ground state of an associated Schrödinger operator. Here the branching rate and the branching mechanism can be state-dependent. In particular, the branching rate can be a measure belonging to a certain Kato class and is allowed to be singular with respect to the symmetrizing measure for the underlying Hunt process X. The almost sure limit theorems are established under the assumption that the associated Schrödinger operator of X has a spectral gap. Such an assumption is satisfied if the underlying process X is a Brownian motion, a symmetric α-stable-like process on or a relativistic symmetric stable process on .  相似文献

Consider a Galton–Watson process with immigration. The limiting distributions of the nonsequential estimators of the offspring mean have been proved to be drastically different for the critical case and subcritical and supercritical cases. A sequential estimator, proposed by Sriram et al. (Ann. Statist. 19 (1991) 2232), was shown to be asymptotically normal for both the subcritical and critical cases. Based on a certain stopping rule, we construct a class of two-stage estimators for the offspring mean. These estimators are shown to be asymptotically normal for all the three cases. This gives, without assuming any prior knowledge, a unified estimation and inference procedure for the offspring mean.  相似文献

A class of infinitely divisible distributions on {0,1,2,…} is defined by requiring the (discrete) Lévy function to be equal to the probability function except for a very simple factor. These distributions turn out to be special cases of the total offspring distributions in (sub)critical branching processes and can also be interpreted as first passage times in certain random walks. There are connections with Lambert's W function and generalized negative binomial convolutions.  相似文献

Consider a general continuous-state branching process with additional interaction, which destroys the branching property. We give precise conditions on the interaction term, in order to decide whether the extinction time of the process remains or not bounded as the initial value tends to infinity, and similarly for the total mass of the process.  相似文献

We consider a branching random walk with a random environment in time, in which the offspring distribution of a particle of generation n and the distribution of the displacements of its children depend on an environment indexed by the time n. The environment is supposed to be independent and identically distributed. For A ?, let Zn(A) be the number of particles of generation n located in A. We show central limit theorems for the counting measure Zn(·) with appropriate normalization.  相似文献

We model the demographic dynamics of populations with sexual reproduction where the reproduction phase occurs in a non-predictable environment and we assume the immigration/out-migration of mating units in the population. We introduce a general class of two-sex branching processes where, in each generation, the number of mating units which take part in the reproduction phase is randomly determined and the offspring probability distribution changes over time in a random environment. We provide several probabilistic results about the limit behaviour of populations whose dynamics is modelled by such a class of stochastic processes. In particular, we provide sufficient conditions for the almost sure extinction of the population or for its survival with a positive probability. As illustration, we include some simulated examples.  相似文献

We establish a central limit theorem for a branching Brownian motion with random immigration under the annealed law, where the immigration is determined by another branching Brownian motion. The limit is a Gaussian random measure and the normalization is t3/4for d=3 and t1/2for d≥4,where in the critical dimension d=4 both the immigration and the branching Brownian motion itself make contributions to the covariance of the limit.  相似文献
