It is shown that BR b1(1 P)→e + e )≃3.3· 10−7 and BR c1(1 P)→e + e )≃10−8. This gives realistic possibilities for searching for the production of χ b1(1 P) and ξ c1(1 P) states in e + e collisions, even on the present-day colliders, to say nothing of b and c-τ factories. The polarization operator of an axion in a degenerate gas of electrons occupying the ground-state Landau level in superstrong magnetic fields HH 0=m e 2 c 3/eℏ=4.41×1013 G is investigated in a model with a tree-level axion-electron coupling. It is shown that a dynamic axion mass, which can fall within the allowed range of values 10−5 eV≲m a≲102 eV, is generated under the conditions of strongly magnetized neutron stars. The lifetime of a negative muon in the 1S state in the isotopes 84Kr and 136Xe was measured. The values obtained, τ(84Kr)=139.2±2.9 ns and τ(136Xe)=111.0±4.6 ns, correspond to total nuclear capture rates Λc(84Kr)=6.75±0.15 μs−1 and Λ c(136Xe)=8.6±0.4 μs−1. Theoretical calculations of the rate of nuclear capture of a negative muon are performed for the Kr isotopes. The experimental results are compared with the theoretical calculations. Pis’ma Zh. éksp. Results from the Spherical Nonmagnetic Detector (SND) on Δ(1232) isobar electroproduction in the collisions of beam electrons (positrons) and residual gas nuclei in the VEPP-2M e + e collider are presented. The lifetimes of a negative muon in the isotopes 132Xe and 40Ar in the solid phase are measured. The lifetime of μ in the 1s state of the isotope 132Xe is τ(132Xe)=101.7±1.7 ns, which corresponds to a total nuclear capture rate Λc(132Xe)=9.4±0.2 μs−1. The lifetime of μ in the isotope 40Ar, viz., τ (40Ar)=568±6 ns, corresponding to a capture rate Λc(40Ar)=1.31±0.01 μs−1, is obtained to several times better accuracy as compared to previously published results. The phenomenon of upper critical dimensionality d c2 has been studied from the viewpoint of the scaling concepts. The Thouless number g(L) is not the only essential variable in scale transformations, because there is the second essential parameter connected with the off-diagonal disorder. The investigation of the resulting two-parameter scaling has revealed two scenarios, and switching from one to another scenario determines the upper critical dimensionality. The first scenario corresponds to the conventional one-parameter scaling and is characterized by the parameter g(L) invariant under scale transformations when the system is at the critical point. In the second scenario, the Thouless number g(L) grows at the critical point as , which leads to a violation of the Wegner relation s=v(d−22) between the critical exponents for conductivity s and localization radius v, which takes the form s=v(d c2−2). The resulting formulas for g(L) are in agreement with the symmetry theory suggested in a previous publication, I. M. Suslov, Zh. éksp. Teor. Fiz. 108, 1686 (1995) [JETP 81, 925 (1995)]. The Zeeman splitting of the ground states 1s(hh) and 1s(lh) of excitons with heavy and light holes, respectively, in a 15-nm isolated Al0.3Ga0.7As/GaAs quantum well in magnetic fields of up to 20 T is investigated according to the photoluminescence excitation spectra in the Faraday geometry (σ+− σ components). The observed anomalous pattern of nonlinear Zeeman splitting and the nonmonotonic behavior of the effective hole g factor are interpreted in terms of the strong mixing of the magnetoexcitonic states containing light and heavy holes. The lower critical field H c1 cyl (T) of a superconducting cylinder with radius r 0ξ(T)≪λ(T) is found on the basis of the Ginzburg-Landau theory with various boundary conditions. These results together with the well-known results for the upper critical field are used to construct phase diagrams in terms of the field versus the reduced radius r 0ξ(T) variables. Studies involving the piezospectroscopy method have shown that the symmetry of the pair centers of Cr3+-Cr2+ ions in the KZnF3 crystal is tetragonal. In this paper we develop a microscopic model of a pair center. We use the temperature dependence of the integrated intensity of the absorption line to find the effective hopping integral for an e g electron, t σσ=205 ± 10 cm−1, and the polaron reduction factor, equal to 0.11. By analyzing the selection rules for exchange-induced electric dipole transitions under double-exchange conditions we identify all the absorption lines of Cr3+-Cr2+ pairs. Zh. éksp. Teor. A microscopic theory of the Efetov supermatrix sigma-model type is constructed for the low-lying electron states in a mixed superconductive-normal system with disorder. This technique is used for the study of the localized states in the core of a vortex in a moderately clean superconductor with τ −1ω 0∼Δ2/E F . At low energies εω Th∼ (ω 0/τ)1/2, the energy level statistics is described by the “zero-dimensional” limit of this supermatrix theory, and the result for the density of states is equivalent to that obtained within Altland-Zirnbauer random matrix model. The differential cross section of the reaction D(e,pp)eπ is measured in the range of proton momenta 300–720 MeV/c and proton emergence angles 64–83° for invariant masses of the pp system ranging from 2m p to 2220 MeV/c 2. The measured values of the cross section are found to differ substantially from single-particle model calculations. The components of the analyzing power for this reaction are measured. We study the statistics of the reflectance (the ratio of reflected and incident intensities) of an N-mode disordered waveguide with weak absorption g per mean free path. Two distinct regimes are identified. The regime γ N 2≫1 shows universal fluctuations. With increasing length L of the waveguide, the variance of the reflectance changes from the value 2/15N 2, characteristic for universal conductance fluctuations in disordered wires, to another value 1/8N 2, characteristic for chaotic cavities. The weak-localization correction to the average reflectance performs a similar crossover from the value 1/3N to 1/4N. In the regime γ N 2≫1, the large-L distribution of the reflectance R becomes very wide and asymmetric, P(R)∝(1−R)−2 for R≪1−γN. Pis’ma Zh. éksp. Teor. We study the effect of a weak nonlinearity in media on the linear regime of current flow in two-dimensional periodic structures with two equal component concentrations. We find that the asymptotic behavior of the electric field and current as functions of the distance between the angles in heterogeneous media is determined by the parameter h=σ 2/σ 1 (here σ 1 and σ 2 are the linear conductivities of the cells) and the external magnetic field B. This dependence leads to divergence of the higher-order moments of field and current at certain critical values h c and B c and to divergence of the response functions related to the higher-order moments. For square cells the effective nonlinear conductivity diverges at hh c, with . For structures of general shape we find the dependence of h c on the angles and the external magnetic field. We show that for a given structure the linear regime of current flow in the system can be reversibly transformed into a nonlinear one by varying the magnetic field strength. The critical field B c is approximately determined from the condition ω c τ∼1, where ω c and τ −1 are, respectively, the cyclotron frequency and the collision rate. A search for the process e + e φ(1020)→η″(958) γ in the decay channel η″→π + π η, ηγγ was made in an experiment at the VEPP-2M e + e collider with the SND detector. The probability w L of Lorentzian ionization, which arises when an atom or ion moves in a constant magnetic field, is calculated in the quasiclassical approximation. The nonrelativistic (v≲e 2/ℏ=1, v is the velocity of the atom) and ultrarelativistic (v→c=137) cases are examined and the stabilization factor S, which takes account of the effect of the magnetic field on tunneling of an electron, is found. The paper considers the effect of a magnetic field B on the transport of neutral composite particles, namely excitons, in weakly disordered two-dimensional (2D) systems. In the case of classical transport (when the interference of different paths is neglected), the magnetic field suppresses exciton transport, and the static diffusion constant D(B) monotonically drops with B. When quantum-mechanical corrections due to weak localization are taken into account, D(B) becomes a nonmonotonic function of B. In weak magnetic fields, where the magnetic length is much larger than the exciton Bohr radius, ℓB=(ℏc/eB)1/2a B =ε2/μe 2,a positive magnetodiffusion effect is predicted, i.e., the exciton mobility should increase with B. We study the effect of fluctuations on the ac conductivity of a layered superconductor for c-axis electromagnetic wave polarization. The fluctuation contributions of different physical nature and sign (paraconductivity, Maki-Thompson anomalous contribution, one-electron density-of-states renormalization) are found to be suppressed by the external field at different characteristic frequencies (ω ALT-T c , ω MT∼max{T-T c ,τ ϕ −1 }, ω DOS∼min{T, τ −1}). As a result, the appearance of a nonmonotonic frequency dependence (pseudogap) in the infrared optical conductivity of high-temperature superconductor is predicted. Pis’ma Zh. éksp. Teor. A method of improving perturbation theory in QCD is developed which can be applied to any polarization operator. The case of the polarization operator Π(q 2), corresponding to the process e + e → hadrons, is considered in detail. By the use of the analytical properties of Π(q 2) and a perturbation expansion of Π(q 2) for q 2<0, the function ImΠ(q 2) at q 2>0 is defined in such a way that the infrared pole is eliminated. The convergence of the perturbation series for R(q 2)=σ(e + e →hadrons)/(e + e μ + μ ) is improved. After substitution of R(q 2) into the dispersion relation an improved Adler function D(q 2) is obtained, having no infrared pole and a frozen α s (q 2). Good agreement with experiment is achieved.
