This paper reports the synthesis and characterization of a variety of ruthenium complexes coordinated with phosphine and N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) ligands. These complexes include several alkylidene derivatives of the general formula (NHC)(PR(3))(Cl)(2)Ru=CHR', which are highly active olefin metathesis catalysts. Although these catalysts can be prepared adequately by the reaction of bis(phosphine) ruthenium alkylidene precursors with free NHCs, we have developed an alternative route that employs NHC-alcohol or -chloroform adducts as "protected" forms of the NHC ligands. This route is advantageous because NHC adducts are easier to handle than their free carbene counterparts. We also demonstrate that sterically bulky bis(NHC) complexes can be made by reaction of the pyridine-coordinated precursor (NHC)(py)(2)(Cl)(2)Ru=CHPh with free NHCs or NHC adducts. Two crystal structures are presented, one of the mixed bis(NHC) derivative (H(2)IMes)(IMes)(Cl)(2)Ru=CHPh, and the other of (PCy(3))(Cl)(CO)Ru[eta(2)-(CH(2)-C(6)H(2)Me(2))(N(2)C(3)H(4))(C(6)H(2)Me(3))], the product of ortho methyl C-H bond activation. Other side reactions encountered during the synthesis of new ruthenium alkylidene complexes include the formation of hydrido-carbonyl-chloride derivatives in the presence of primary alcohols and the deprotonation of ruthenium vinylcarbene ligands by KOBu(t). We also evaluate the olefin metathesis activity of NHC-coordinated complexes in representative RCM and ROMP reactions.  相似文献

New polynuclear complexes, (L1)3M2 [M2 = Cr(III) (4a,4b), Fe(III) (5), Co(III) (8)], (L1)2M2(L2)2 [M2 = Co(II) (7), Ni(II) (9)], (L1)2M2(O)L2 [M2 = V(IV) (6)] and L1M2Cp2 [M2 = Ti(III) (10)] with L1 = (CO)5M1=C[C=NC(CH3)=CHS](O-)(M1 = Cr or W) and L2 = 4-methylthiazole or THF, are described. The molecular structures of these complexes determined by X-ray diffraction show that the Fischer-type carbene complexes act as bidentate ligands towards the second metal centre, coordinating through C(carbene)-attached O-atoms and imine N-atoms of the thiazolyl groups to form five-membered chelates with the oxygen atoms in the mer configuration. Isostructural complexes have similar characteristic band patterns in their far-IR spectra. Cyclic voltammetry of selected complexes reveals the oxidation of the carbene complex ligand between 1.01 and 1.29 V. Oxidation of the central metal (M2) takes place at 0.56 and 0.86 V for 7 and 9, respectively. Three stepwise reductions of Cr(III) to Cr(0) occur for 4a and 4b in the region -0.51 to -1.58 V. These new ligand types and other variants thereof should find application in ligand design with the first metal -- and other ligands attached thereto -- in the carbene complex ligand, playing an important role.  相似文献

Hydrosilylation of terminal alkynes with a variety of silanes catalyzed by Cl2(PCy3)2RuCHPh (1) affords mainly the Z-isomer via trans addition in excellent yields. The presence of a hydroxyl group in close proximity to the triple bond was observed to exert a strong directing effect, resulting in the highly selective formation of the α-isomer. Intramolecular hydrosilylation of a homopropargylic silyl ether was demonstrated to give the cis addition product.  相似文献

Effective homo-metathesis of a series of dichloro-substituted vinylsilanes H2C = C(H)SiCl2R (where R = Me, OSiMe3, C6H5, C6H4–Me-4, C6H4–CF3-4) in the presence of second generation Grubbs catalyst [Cl2(PCy3)(IMesH2)Ru(=CHPh)] (I) and Hoveyda–Grubbs catalyst (II) leads to selective formation of E-1,2-bis(silyl)ethenes and ethene. On the basis of the results of experiments with deuterium-labelled reagents, a metallacarbene mechanism has been suggested for these reactions.  相似文献

New ruthenium carbene complexes with chelating N- and S-benzylidene ligands were synthesized by the reactions of second- and third-generation Grubbs catalysts with ortho-vinylbenzyl-substituted amines or sulfides. These complexes were shown to exhibit catalytic activity in ring-opening metathesis polymerization and ring-closing metathesis.  相似文献

A synthetic study of ruthenium complexes containing pentafluorobenzenethiolato ligand is presented. The bis(triphenylphosphine) complex CpRu(PPh3)2SC6F5 (1) is prepared from CpRu(PPh3)2Cl and C6F5S in high yield. This complex is readily reacted with CO gas to give the mixed carbonyl-phosphine complex CpRu(PPh3)(CO)SC6F5 (2) and with NOBF4 at room temperature to give [CpRu(PPh3)(NO)SC6F5]BF4 (3). The one-pot reaction of CpRu(PPh3)2Cl, dppa ligands, and C6F5S produces CpRu(dppa)SC6F5 [dppa = bis(diphenylphosphino)methane: dppm (4); bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane: dppe (5)]. Complexes (1)(5) have been characterized by spectroscopic techniques (i.r., 1H-n.m.r., 31P-n.m.r.) and by elemental analysis. The X-ray structural analysis of (5) is reported. A large number of iron and ruthenium dinuclear complexes containing heteroatom substituted carbene ligands have been obtained by two different synthetic routes. The first method consists in reacting heteroatom substituted -carbyne cationic complexes with CN ion. The second involves the displacement of the SMe2 molecule in the sulfonium [Fe2{-C(CN)(SMe2)}(-CO)(CO)2CP2]SO3CF3 by appropriate nucleophilesX (X=OR, SR, NR2, PR2). Spectroscopic (IR, NMR) and structural investigations together with reactivity studies on these complexes have greatly contributed to better understanding the factors which favor bridging vs. terminal coordination of heteroatom substituted carbene ligands.  相似文献

Two new dimethylvinyl carbene complexes, RuCl2(SIMes)(PPh3)CHCHC(CH3)2 and RuCl2(SIMes)(3BP)2CHCHC(CH3)2, were synthesized from RuCl2(PCp3)2CHCHC(CH3)2. Complex RuCl2(SIMes)(3BP)2CHCHC(CH3)2 does not suffer from the problem of incomplete initiation that has been observed for the other dimethylvinyl carbene complexes, as witnessed by complete and rapid reaction with ethyl vinyl ether. Acyclic diene metathesis (ADMET) polymerization of 1,9‐decadiene with these complexes was found to give polymers with chemical and thermal properties similar to those obtained with Schrock's molybdenum catalyst. These complexes are also catalysts for ring‐opening metathesis polymerization. The parent complex RuCl2(SIMes)(PCp3)CHCHC(CH3)2 was found to give polyoctenamer with high initial heats of fusion, suggesting a dependence of the “as formed” crystallinity of the polymer on the rate of the ROMP reaction. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Incorporation of a nitrogen functionality into a tripodal N-heterocyclic carbene ligand system affords the first N-anchored tetradentate tris-carbene ligands TIMEN(R) (R = Me (5a), t-Bu (5b), Bz (5c)). Treatment of the methyl derivatized [H(3)TIMEN(Me)](PF(6))(3) imidazolium salt (H(3)5a) with silver oxide yields the silver complex [(TIMEN(Me))(2)Ag(3)](PF(6))(3) (9), which, in a ligand transfer reaction, reacts with copper(I) bromide to give the trinuclear copper(I) complex [(TIMEN(Me))(2)Cu(3)](PF(6))(3) (10). Deprotonation of the tert-butyl and benzyl derivatives [H(3)TIMEN(t-Bu)](PF(6))(3) and [H(3)TIMEN(Bz)](PF(6))(3) yields the free tris-carbenes TIMEN(t-Bu) (5b) and TIMEN(Bz) (5c), which react readily with copper(I) salts to give mononuclear complexes [(TIMEN(t-Bu))Cu](PF(6)) (11b) and [(TIMEN(Bz))Cu]Br (11c). The solid-state structures of 10, 11b, and 11c were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. While the TIMEN(Me) ligand yields trinuclear complex 10, with both T-shaped three-coordinate and linear two-coordinate copper(I) centers, the TIMEN(t-Bu) and TIMEN(Bz) ligands induce mononuclear complexes 11b and 11c, rendering the cuprous ion in a trigonal planar ligand environment of three carbenoid carbon centers and an additional, weak axial nitrogen interaction. Complexes 11b and 11c exhibit reversible one-electron redox events at half-wave potentials of 110 and -100 mV vs Fc/Fc(+), respectively, indicating sufficient electronic and structural flexibility of both TIMEN(R) ligands (R = t-Bu, Bz) to stabilize copper(I) and copper(II) oxidation states. Accordingly, a copper(II) NHC complex, [(TIMEN(Bz))Cu](OTf)(2) (12), was synthesized. Paramagnetic complex 12 was characterized by elemental analysis, EPR spectroscopy, and SQUID magnetization measurements.  相似文献

The synthesis, characterization, and water oxidation activity of mononuclear ruthenium complexes with tris(2-pyridylmethyl)amine (TPA), tris(6-methyl-2-pyridylmethyl)amine (Me(3)TPA), and a new pentadentate ligand N,N-bis(2-pyridinylmethyl)-2,2'-bipyridine-6-methanamine (DPA-Bpy) have been described. The electrochemical properties of these mononuclear Ru complexes have been investigated by both experimental and computational methods. Using Ce(IV) as oxidant, stoichiometric oxidation of water by [Ru(TPA)(H(2)O)(2)](2+) was observed, while Ru(Me(3)TPA)(H(2)O)(2)](2+) has much less activity for water oxidation. Compared to [Ru(TPA)(H(2)O)(2)](2+) and [Ru(Me(3)TPA)(H(2)O)(2)](2+), [Ru(DPA-Bpy)(H(2)O)](2+) exhibited 20 times higher activity for water oxidation. This study demonstrates a new type of ligand scaffold to support water oxidation by mononuclear Ru complexes.  相似文献

A wide variety of ruthenium porphyrin carbene complexes, including [Ru(tpfpp)(CR(1)R(2))] (CR(1)R(2) = C(p-C(6)H(4)Cl)(2) 1 b, C(p-C(6)H(4)Me)(2) 1 c, C(p-C(6)H(4)OMe)(2) 1 d, C(CO(2)Me)(2) 1 e, C(p-C(6)H(4)NO(2))CO(2)Me 1 f, C(p-C(6)H(4)OMe)CO(2)Me 1 g, C(CH==CHPh)CO(2)CH(2)(CH==CH)(2)CH(3) 1 h), [Ru(por)(CPh(2))] (por=tdcpp 2 a, 4-Br-tpp 2 b, 4-Cl-tpp 2 c, 4-F-tpp 2 d, tpp 2 e, ttp 2 f, 4-MeO-tpp 2 g, tmp 2 h, 3,4,5-MeO-tpp 2 i), [Ru(por)[C(Ph)CO(2)Et]] (por=tdcpp 2 j, tmp 2 k), [Ru(tpfpp)(CPh(2))(L)] (L = MeOH 3 a, EtSH 3 b, Et(2)S 3 c, MeIm 3 d, OPPh(3) 3 e, py 3 f), and [Ru(tpfpp)[C(Ph)CO(2)R](MeOH)] (R = CH(2)CH==CH(2) 4 a, Me 4 b, Et 4 c), were prepared from the reactions of [Ru(por)(CO)] with diazo compounds N(2)CR(1)R(2) in dichloromethane and, for 3 and 4, by further treatment with reagents L. A similar reaction of [Os(tpfpp)(CO)] with N(2)CPh(2) in dichloromethane followed by treatment with MeIm gave [Os(tpfpp)(CPh(2))(MeIm)] (3 d-Os). All these complexes were characterized by (1)H NMR, (13)C NMR, and UV/Vis spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and elemental analyses. X-ray crystal structure determinations of 1 d, 2 a,i, 3 a, b, d, e, 4 a-c, and 3 d-Os revealed Ru==C distances of 1.806(3)-1.876(3) A and an Os==C distance of 1.902(3) A. The structure of 1 d in the solid state features a unique "bridging" carbene ligand, which results in the formation of a one-dimensional coordination polymer. Cyclic voltammograms of 1 a-c, g, 2 a-d, g-k, 3 b-d, 4 a, b, and 3 d-Os show a reversible oxidation couple with E(1/2) values in the range of 0.06-0.65 V (vs Cp(2)Fe(+/0)) that is attributable to a metal-centered oxidation. The influence of carbene substituents, porphyrin substituents, and trans-ligands on the Ru==C bond was examined through comparison of the chemical shifts of the pyrrolic protons in the porphyrin macrocycles ((1)H NMR) and the M==C carbon atoms ((13)C NMR), the potentials of the metal-centered oxidation couples, and the Ru==C distances among the various ruthenium porphyrin carbene complexes. A direct comparison among iron, ruthenium, and osmium porphyrin carbene complexes is made.  相似文献

Three new complexes, [(η6-C6H6)RuCl(C5H4N-2-CH=N-Ar)]PF6 (Ar = phenylmethylene (1), (4-methoxyphenyl)methylene (2), and phenylhydrazone (3)), were prepared by reacting [(η6-C6H6)Ru(μ-Cl)Cl]2 with N,N′-bidentate ligands in a 1 : 2 ratio. Full characterization of the complexes was accomplished using 1H and 13C NMR, elemental and thermal analyses, UV–vis and IR spectroscopy and single crystal X-ray structures. Single crystal structures confirmed a pseudo-octahedral three-legged, piano-stool geometry around Ru(II), with the ligand coordinated to the ruthenium(II) through two N atoms. The cytotoxicity of the mononuclear complexes was established against three human cancer cell lines and selectivity was also tested against non-cancerous human epithelial kidney (HEK 293) cells. The compounds were selective toward the tumor cells in contrast to the known anti-cancer drug 5-fluoro uracil which was not selective between the tumor cells and non-tumor cells. All the compounds showed moderate activity against MCF7 (human breast adenocarcinoma), but showed low antiproliferative activity against Caco-2 and HepG2. Also, antimicrobial activities of the complexes were tested against a panel of antimicrobial-susceptible and -resistant Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. Of special interest is the anti-mycobacterial activity of all three synthesized complexes against Mycobacterium smegmatis, and bactericidal activity against resistant Enterococcus faecalis and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 43300.  相似文献

The ruthenium carbene complexes 3a,b bearing imidazol-2-ylidene ligands constitute excellent precatalysts for ring-closing metathesis (RCM) reactions allowing the formation of tri- and tetrasubstituted cycloalkenes. They also apply to annulations that are beyond the scope of the standard Grubbs carbene 1 as well as to ring-closing reactions of acrylic acid derivatives even if the resulting alpha,beta-unsaturated lactones (or lactams) are tri- or tetrasubstituted. The reactivity of 3a was found to be highly dependent on the reaction medium: particularly high reaction rates are observed in toluene, although this solvent also leads to an increased tendency of the catalyst to isomerize the double bonds of the substrates.  相似文献
