We study resonant CP-violating Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen correlations that may take place in the production and decay of unstable scalar particles at high-energy colliders. We show that as a consequence of unitarity and CPT invariance of the S-matrix, in 2→2 scatterings mediated by mixed scalar particles, at least three linearly independent decay matrices associated with the unstable scalar states are needed to obtain non-zero CP-odd observables that are also odd under C-conjugation. Instead, for the correlated production and decay of two unstable particle systems in 2→4 processes, we find that only two independent decay matrices are sufficient to induce a net non-vanishing CP-violating phenomenon. As an application of this theorem, we present numerical estimates of CP asymmetries for the correlated production and decay of supersymmetric scalar top-anti-top pairs at the LHC, and demonstrate that these could reach values of order one. As a byproduct of our analysis, we develop a novel spinorial trace technique, which enables us to efficiently evaluate lengthy expressions of squared amplitudes describing the resonant scalar transitions.  相似文献

We present a necessary condition on the solar oscillation amplitude for CP violation to be detectable through neutrinoless double beta (0νββ) decay. It depends only on the fractional uncertainty in the νe–νe element of the neutrino mass matrix. We demonstrate that even under very optimistic assumptions about the sensitivity of future experiments to the absolute neutrino mass scale, and on the precision with which nuclear matrix elements that contribute to 0νββ decay are calculable, it will be impossible to detect neutrino CP violation arising from Majorana phases.  相似文献

In the standard theory we discuss a mechanism of interference between two different tree-level charged current amplitudes to induce CP violation. The asymmetry between conjugate Cabibbo disfavoured modes of charged bottom meson decays is considered. Estimates for two-body decays ofB u andB c are presented. We find thatB u ? D ?+D 0 * , for instance, can give a big CP asymmetry with values ≈1–50%, depending on the angle and phase parameters.  相似文献

Using the next-to-leading order QCD corrected effective Hamiltonian, scale and scheme independent Wilson coefficients, we have estimated the branching ratio and CP violating asymmetries for the decay mode in the Standard Model using the framework of generalized factorization. The effects of nonfactorizable contributions are taken into account by treating the effective no. of colors as a free parameter. The form factors are evaluated in the nonrelativistic quark model. The estimated branching ratio is found to be which lies below the current experimental upper limit and the CP violating asymmetries are and . We report a search for CP-violating asymmetry in B0-->D(*+/-)D-/+ decays. The analysis employs two methods of B0 reconstruction: full and partial. In the full reconstruction method all daughter particles of the B0 are required to be detected; the partial reconstruction technique requires a fully reconstructed D- and only a slow pion from the D(*+)-->D0pi(+)(slow) decay. From a fit to the distribution of the time interval corresponding to the distance between two B meson decay points we calculate the CP-violating parameters and find the significance of nonzero CP asymmetry to be 2.7 standard deviations.  相似文献

The non-conservation of CP symmetry in the decay of neutralK mesons was discovered almost three decades ago. The origin of this unique phenomenon is still not well understood. There have been attempts to link it with energy splitting of theK and in the earth's gravitational field. In this essay we examine these attempts critically. A more natural way in which a gravitational field can couple asymmetrically to the system is through torsion, which coupling to isospin can, in addition to parity violation, also give rise to a C violation. The magnitude of this effect is estimated in the vicinity of a kaon and found to give a CP-violating parameter of the right value. Moreover, it is predicted that the CP violating parameter for the new system is much smaller 10–6. Implications for baryogenesis in the early universe is also studied. In this paper we work not with the Newtonian gravitational constantG but with a torsion coupling constant, which is energy-dependent and can be related to the Fermi weak interaction constant.  相似文献

We study CP violation in chargino production and decay in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) with complex parameters at an e+e- linear collider with longitudinally polarised beams. We investigate CP-sensitive asymmetries by means of triple product correlations and study their dependence on the complex parameters M1 and μ. We give numerical predictions for the asymmetries and their measurability at the future International Linear Collider. Our results show that the CP asymmetries can be measured in a large region of the MSSM parameter space.  相似文献
