Poly(ethylene glycol) grafted poly(L -lactide) was prepared by ring opening polymerization of L -lactide and epoxy-terminated poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether (PEGME). Stannous octoate and Al(Et)3·0.5 H2O were tested as polymerization catalysts, and Al(Et)3·0.5 H2O was found to be more effective for the ring-opening of the epoxy group of the modified PEGME monomer. The synthesized polymers were characterized by NMR and the efficiency of the incorporation of epoxy-terminated PEGME in the copolymer was determined.  相似文献

Linear and branched poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) copolymers with polyethylene glycol) (PEG) methyl ether (700 or 2000 g/mol) end groups were synthesized using conventional melt polymerization. DSC analysis demonstrated that low levels of PEG end groups accelerated PET crystallization. The incorporated PEG end groups also decreased the crystallization temperature of PET dramatically, and copolymers with a high content of PEG (>17.6 wt%) were able to crystallize at room temperature. Rheological analysis demonstrated that the presence of PEG end groups effectively decreased the melt viscosities and facilitated melt processing. XPS and ATR-FTIR revealed that the PEG end groups tended to aggregate on the surface, and the surface of compression molded films containing 34.0 wt% PEG were PEG rich (85 wt% PEG). PEG end-capped PET (34.0 wt% PEG) and PET films were immersed into a fibrinogen solution (0.7 mg/mL BSA) for 72 h to investigate the propensity for protein adhesion. XPS demonstrated that the concentration of nitrogen (1.05%) on the surface of PEG endcapped PET film was statistically lower than PET (7.67%). SEM analysis was consistent with XPS results, and revealed the presence of adsorbed protein on the surface of PET films.  相似文献

Five general routes for the preparation of polyoxyethylene [generally referred to as poly(ethylene glycol) or PEG] derivatives are described. These routes are (1) nucleophilic displacements with the alkoxide of PEG, (2) nucleophilic displacement on PEG–tosylate, –mesylate, or –bromide, (3) reductive amination of PEG–aldehyde, (4) reductive amination of PEG–amine, and (5) nucleophilic displacements on the s-triazine derivatives prepared from s-triazine trichloride (cyanuric chloride) and PEG. Eighteen derivatives are prepared and potential applications to catalysis, cell purifications, and other areas are discussed briefly.  相似文献

The known grafting procedures of colloidal silica particles with poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) lead to grafting layers that detach from the silica surface and dissolve in water within a few days. We present a new grafting procedure of PEG onto silica with a significant improvement of the stability of the grafting layers in aqueous solvents. Moreover, the procedure avoids any dry states or other circumstances leading to strong aggregation of the particles. To achieve the improved water stability, St?ber silica particles are first pre-coated with a silane coupling agent (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APS) to incorporate active amine groups. The water solubility of the pre-coating layer was minimized using a combination of APS with bis-(trimethoxysilylpropyl)amine (BTMOSPA) or bis-(triethoxysilyl)ethane (BTEOSE). These pre-coated particles were then reacted with N-succinimidyl ester of mono-methoxy poly(ethylene glycol) carboxylic acid to form PEG-grafted silica particles. The particles form stable dispersions in aqueous solutions as well as several organic solvents.  相似文献

The synthesis of new amphiphilic polyesters based on poly(ethylene glycol) (PEGs) and studies on their solution properties are reported. Two novel monomers, dimethyl 5-n-butoxy isophthalate (2) and dimethyl 5-n-octoxy isophthalate (3) were synthesized. Three series of novel amphiphilic polyesters, i.e. poly(ethyleneoxy isophthalate)s (10-15), poly(ethyleneoxy n-butoxy isophthalate)s (16-21) and poly(ethyleneoxy n-octoxy isophthalate)s (22-27) have been synthesized from PEGs of different sizes and dimethyl isophthalates 1-3 via the transesterification-polycondensation using dibutyltin diacetate as a catalyst. The structures of the polyesters were established from a detailed analysis of their spectra, i.e. FTIR, 1H-NMR (one- and two-dimensional) and 13C-NMR. By adjusting the ratio of hydrophobic (diesters) and hydrophilic (PEGs) segments in polymers, their main chain structures and solution properties could be changed. The viscosity molecular weights (Mv) of polymers, obtained from Mark-Houwink-Sakurada relationship having poly(ethylene terephthalate) as a model, were in the range of 4500-32,000 g/mol. Intrinsic viscosities were studied based on polymer backbone length (PEGs effect) and pendant group (diesters effect) and these were found to be dependent on molecular weights of the PEGs used.  相似文献

Arrays of releasable micropallets with surrounding walls of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) were fabricated for the patterning and sorting of adherent cells. PEG walls were fabricated between the SU-8 pallets using a simple, mask-free strategy. By utilizing the difference in UV-transmittance of glass and SU-8, PEG monomer was selectively photopolymerized in the space surrounding the pallets. Since the PEG walls are composed of a cross-linked structure, the stability of the walls is independent of the pallet array geometry and the properties of the overlying solution. Even though surrounded with PEG walls, the individual pallets were detached from the array by the mechanical force generated by a focused laser pulse, with a release threshold of 6 microJ. Since the PEG hydrogels are repellent to protein adsorption and cell attachment, the walls localized cell growth to the pallet top surface. Cells grown in the microwells formed by the PEG walls were released by detaching the underlying pallet. The released cells/pallets were collected, cultured and clonally expanded. The micropallet arrays with PEG walls provide a platform for performing single cell analysis and sorting on chip.  相似文献

The design and synthesis of novel copolymers that consist of a linear polyoxyethylene block and a dendrimeric poly(ester-sulfide) block with potential applications in drug delivery are described. The dendrimers bear hydroxyl or acrylate functional groups and were prepared via a divergent approach using readily available methoxypoly(ethylene glycol) (mPEG), acryloyl chloride, and 1-thioglycerol as building blocks. All reactions involved occurred efficiently and purification steps consisted of washing the reaction mixture with aqueous solutions and precipitation of the product in diethyl ether.  相似文献

A new series of segmented copolymers were synthesized from poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) oligomers and poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) by a two‐step solution polymerization reaction. PET oligomers were obtained by glycolysis depolymerization. Structural features were defined by infrared and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. The copolymer composition was calculated via 1H NMR spectroscopy. The content of soft PEG segments was higher than that of hard PET segments. A single glass‐transition temperature was detected for all the synthesized segmented copolymers. This observation was found to be independent of the initial PET‐to‐PEG molar ratio. The molar masses of the copolymers were determined by gel permeation chromatography (GPC). © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 42: 4448–4457, 2004  相似文献

The analysis of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG)-containing particles by online single particle aerosol mass spectrometers equipped with laser desorption/ionization (LDI) is reported. We demonstrate that PEG-containing particles are useful in the development of aerosol mass spectrometers because of their ease of preparation, low cost, and inherently recognizable mass spectra. Solutions containing millimolar quantities of PEGs were nebulized and, after drying, the resultant micrometer-sized PEG-containing particles were sampled. LDI (266 nm) of particles containing NaCl and PEG molecules of average molecular weight<500 Da generated mass spectra reminiscent of mass spectra of PEG collected by other mass spectrometer platforms including the characteristic distribution of positive ions (Na+ adducts) separated by the 44 m/z units of the ethylene oxide units separating each degree of polymerization. PEGs of average molecular weight>500 Da were detected from particles that also contained the tripeptide tyrosine-tyrosine-tyrosine or 2,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid, which were added to nebulized solutions to act as matrices to assist LDI using pulsed 266 nm and 355 nm lasers, respectively. Experiments were performed on two aerosol mass spectrometers, one reflectron and one linear, that each utilize two time-of-flight mass analyzers to detect positive and negative ions created from a single particle. PEG-containing particles are currently being employed in the optimization of our bioaerosol mass spectrometers for the application of measurements of complex biological samples, including human effluents, and we recommend that the same strategies will be of great utility to the development of any online aerosol LDI mass spectrometer platform.  相似文献

A novel yet versatile approach is described for surface-initiated living radical polymerization (SI-LRP) from silica particles (SiPs). Monodisperse SiPs were surface-modified with a newly designed surface-fixable initiator (BPEGE) having three components: a triethoxysilane moiety, a poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) unit, and an initiation site for atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) in the form of a 2-bromoisobutyryl group. The surface-initiated ATRP of methyl methacrylate (MMA) mediated by a copper complex was carried out with the BPEGE-fixed SiPs. The polymerization proceeded in a living manner, producing SiPs coated with well-defined poly(MMA) of a target molecular weight with a graft density as high as 0.5 chains/nm2. Thanks to the amphiphilic property of PEG, the system was successfully applied for SI-ATRP of PEG methacrylate and sodium p-styrenesulfonate in aqueous media in which the BPEGE-fixed SiPs were highly dispersed without causing any aggregations. The formation of colloidal crystals with the polymer brush-afforded SiPs demonstrated the high uniformity and perfect dispersibility of the hybrid particles.  相似文献

The solubility nature of many medicines presents a challenge for successful delivery of these drugs to the body. Polymeric carriers are potentially viable as vessels for both the protection and transport of these medicinal substances. In an effort to generate polymeric materials for this desired application, A‐B‐A triblock copolymers have been synthesized with a central block composed of hydrophilic poly (ethylene glycol) (PEG) and flanking hydrophobic sequences composed of five valine units terminated with end groups of varying hydrophobicity. These copolymers were constructed by adding amino acids stepwise to the hydrophilic block using solution phase chemistry. The self‐assembly behavior of all polymers was investigated using fluorimetry with a pyrene probe. In general, copolymers with more hydrophobic end groups exhibited lower critical aggregation concentrations (CACs). Fmoc‐terminated copolymers displayed the lowest CAC of 0.032 mg/mL and demonstrated little cytotoxicity when exposed to SW620 colorectal cancer cells. Transmission electron micrographs show the presence of multiple compartments within these spherical assemblies, which may prove useful in encapsulating medicinal substances. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We report a novel approach for fabrication of multifunctional conjugated polymers, namely poly(p‐phenylene)s (PPPs) possessing polypeptide (poly‐l ‐lysine, PLL) and hydrophilic poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) side chains. The approach is comprised of the combination of Suzuki coupling and in situ N‐carboxyanhydride (NCA) ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) processes. First, polypeptide macromonomer was prepared by ROP of the corresponding NCA precursor using (2,5‐dibromophenyl)methanamine as an initiator. Suzuki coupling reaction of the obtained polypeptide and PEG macromonomers both having dibromobenzene end functionality using 1,4‐benzenediboronic acid as the coupling partner in the presence of palladium catalyst gave the desired polymer. A different sequence of the same procedure was also employed to yield polymer with essentially identical structure. In the reverse sequence mode, low molar mass monomer (2,5‐dibromophenyl)methanamine, and PEG macromonomer were coupled with 1,4‐benzenediboronic acid in a similar way followed by ROP of the L‐Lysine NCA precursor through the primary amino groups of the resulting polyphenylene. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Novel lipid-polymer hybrid nanoparticles are designed with a poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) coating that is shed in response to a low pH trigger. This allows the nanoparticles to be stable during systemic circulation and at neutral pH, but destabilize and fuse with lipid membranes in acidic environments. The hybrid nanoparticles consist of a poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) core with a lipid and lipid-PEG monolayer shell. To make the hybrid nanoparticles pH sensitive, a lipid-(succinate)-mPEG conjugate is synthesized to provide a hydrolyzable PEG stealth layer that is shed off the particle surface at low pH. The pH-sensitivity of the nanoparticles is tunable using the molar concentration of the lipid-(succinate)-mPEG incorporated in the lipid shell of the particles. Possible uses of these pH-sensitive nanoparticles include aggregating in acidic tumor microenvironments, escaping acidified endosomes, or aggregating in deep lung tissue for improved inhalation administration.  相似文献

This paper reports a simple microwave plasma patterning of poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) surfaces, which is accomplished by allowing selective surface areas to microwave plasma exposure in the presence of gaseous monomer. When maleic anhydride is used for microwave plasma reaction in the presence of physical barrier on the PDMS substrate, the resulting patterned surfaces with chemically bonded maleic anhydride and carboxylic acid groups are generated. In this particular study we attached amoxicillin via ammonolysis under weak base conditions in the presence of a catalyst as well as poly(ethyleneglycol) (PEG). A combination of internal reflection IR imaging (IRIRI) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) revealed that amoxicillin and PEG can be readily reacted on the microwave plasma patterned PDMS surfaces. Surface areas directly exposed to microwave plasmons exhibit the highest reactivity due to higher content of functional groups. These studies also show that molecular weight of PEG has also significant effect on kinetics of surface reactions.  相似文献

Polycaprolactone (PCL) based α,ω-methacrylated macromonomer (DMPCL) was synthesized via enzymatic ring-opening polymerization (eROP) by using Novozyme 435 as the enzyme immobilized catalyst. DMPCL was further photopolymerized with monofunctional poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate (PEGMA-950) macromonomer and trimethylolpropane triacrylate (TMPTA) as tri-functionalized crosslinking agent in glass vials when CHCl3 was the solvent and Irgacure 819 was the photoinitiator. Ultraviolet (UV) Light Emitting Diode (LED) bulbs enabled photoinduced reactions at room temperature with low heat generation and high reaction efficiency. The obtained gels were characterized with Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC). DMPCL participated as an effective crosslinking agent in the photopolymerization of PEGMA-950. Combined usage of DMPCL and PEGMA-950 resulted in significantly more effective polymerization than the separate photopolymerizations of these macromonomers.  相似文献

Block copolymers of poly(N-isovaleryl ethyleneimine) (PiVEI) and poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) were synthesized by coupling previously prepared blocks of PEG ditosylate with the dianion of the dihydroxy PiVEI. On the average four blocks coupled together to form the final block polymer. The PiVEI blocks crystallized with the same melting points as in the homopolymer. This restricted the mobility of the PEG blocks and they did not crystallize unless cooled well below room temperature. The mechanical properties of cast films were quite good with a tensile strength of 77 kg/cm2 and an elongation of 120%. The swelling of unoriented and oriented films with water was studied. The unoriented polymer absorbed about its own volume of water, even though PEG comprised only 40% of the total polymer.  相似文献

Effects of nano-metal powders (aluminum and nickel) addition on the thermooxidative degradation of binder PEG in air atmosphere from 20 to 350°C were studied by TG/DTA and in-situ FTIR. TG/DTA results showed that the addition of nano-Al slowed down the degradation process of PEG in the early period but accelerated the process in the late period; the addition of nano-Ni made the PEG degradation process begin as soon as melted. The in-situ FTIR results showed that nano-Ni promoted the thermooxidative degradation of PEG in air, and made the degradation process of PEG complete much earlier.  相似文献
