We consider the problem of oscillation and nonoscillation solutions for unstable type second-order neutral difference equation: Δ2(x(n) − p(n)x(nτ)) =q(n)x(g(n)). (1) In this paper, we obtain some conditions for the bounded solutions of Eq(1) to be oscillatory and for the existence of the nonoscillatory solutions.  相似文献

In 1987, Hartman showed that the necessary condition v ≡ 4 or 8 (mod 12) for the existence of a resolvable SQS(v) is also sufficient for all values of v, with 23 possible exceptions. These last 23 undecided orders were removed by Ji and Zhu in 2005 by introducing the concept of resolvable H-designs. In this paper, we first develop a simple but powerful construction for resolvable H-designs, i.e., a construction of an RH(g 2n ) from an RH((2g) n ), which we call group halving construction. Based on this construction, we provide an alternative existence proof for resolvable SQS(v)s by investigating the existence problem of resolvable H-designs with group size 2. We show that the necessary conditions for the existence of an RH(2 n ), namely, n ≡ 2 or 4 (mod 6) and n ≥ 4 are also sufficient. Meanwhile, we provide an alternative existence proof for resolvable H-designs with group size 6. These results are obtained by first establishing an existence result for resolvable H-designs with group size 4, that is, the necessary conditions n ≡ 1 or 2 (mod 3) and n ≥ 4 for the existence of an RH(4 n ) are also sufficient for all values of n except possibly n ∈ {73, 149}. As a consequence, the general existence problem of an RH(g n ) is solved leaving mainly the case of g ≡ 0 (mod 12) open. Finally, we show that the necessary conditions for the existence of a resolvable G-design of type g n are also sufficient.  相似文献

A space X is said to be κ-resolvable (resp., almost κ-resolvable) if it contains κ dense sets that are pairwise disjoint (resp., almost disjoint over the ideal of nowhere dense subsets). X is maximally resolvable if and only if it is Δ(X)-resolvable, where Δ(X) = min{|G| : G ≠ open}. We show that every crowded monotonically normal (in short: MN) space is ω-resolvable and almost μ-resolvable, where μ = min{2 ω , ω 2}. On the other hand, if κ is a measurable cardinal then there is a MN space X with Δ(X) = κ such that no subspace of X is ω 1-resolvable. Any MN space of cardinality < ℵ ω is maximally resolvable. But from a supercompact cardinal we obtain the consistency of the existence of a MN space X with |X| = Δ(X) = ℵ ω such that no subspace of X is ω 2-resolvable. We consider Dirichlet series zg,a(s)=?n=1 g(na) e-ln s{\zeta_{g,\alpha}(s)=\sum_{n=1}^\infty g(n\alpha) e^{-\lambda_n s}} for fixed irrational α and periodic functions g. We demonstrate that for Diophantine α and smooth g, the line Re(s) = 0 is a natural boundary in the Taylor series case λ n  = n, so that the unit circle is the maximal domain of holomorphy for the almost periodic Taylor series ?n=1 g(na) zn{\sum_{n=1}^{\infty} g(n\alpha) z^n}. We prove that a Dirichlet series zg,a(s) = ?n=1 g(n a)/ns{\zeta_{g,\alpha}(s) = \sum_{n=1}^{\infty} g(n \alpha)/n^s} has an abscissa of convergence σ 0 = 0 if g is odd and real analytic and α is Diophantine. We show that if g is odd and has bounded variation and α is of bounded Diophantine type r, the abscissa of convergence σ 0 satisfies σ 0 ≤ 1 − 1/r. Using a polylogarithm expansion, we prove that if g is odd and real analytic and α is Diophantine, then the Dirichlet series ζ g,α (s) has an analytic continuation to the entire complex plane.  相似文献

We present existence principles for the nonlocal boundary-value problem (φ(u(p−1)))′=g(t,u,...,u(p−1), αk(u)=0, 1≤k≤p−1, where p ≥ 2, π: ℝ → ℝ is an increasing and odd homeomorphism, g is a Carathéodory function that is either regular or has singularities in its space variables, and α k: C p−1[0, T] → ℝ is a continuous functional. An application of the existence principles to singular Sturm-Liouville problems (−1)n(φ(u(2n−)))′=f(t,u,...,u(2n−1)), u(2k)(0)=0, αku(2k)(T)+bku(2k=1)(T)=0, 0≤k≤n−1, is given. Let P(n) be the set of all partitions of a natural number n. In the representation theory of symmetric groups, for every partition α ∈ P(n), the partition h(α) ∈ P(n) is defined so as to produce a certain set of zeros in the character table for Sn. Previously, the analog f(α) of h(α) was obtained pointing out an extra set of zeros in the table mentioned. Namely, h(α) is greatest (under the lexicographic ordering ≤) of the partitions β of n such that χα(gβ) ≠ 0, and f(α) is greatest of the partitions γ of n that are opposite in sign to h(α) and are such that χα(gγ) ≠ 0, where χα is an irreducible character of Sn, indexed by α, and gβ is an element in the conjugacy class of Sn, indexed by β. For α ∈ P(n), under some natural restrictions, here, we construct new partitions h′(α) and f′(α) of n possessing the following properties. (A) Let α ∈ P(n) and n ⩾ 3. Then h′(α) is identical is sign to h(α), χα(gh′(α)) ≠ 0, but χα(gγ) = 0 for all γ ∈ P(n) such that the sign of γ coincides with one of h(α), and h′(α) < γ < h(α). (B) Let α ∈ P(n), α ≠ α′, and n ⩾ 4. Then f′(α) is identical in sign to f(α), χα(gf′(α)) ≠ 0, but χα(gγ) = 0 for all γ ∈ P(n) such that the sign of γ coincides with one of f(α), and f′(α) < γ < f(α). The results obtained are then applied to study pairs of semiproportional irreducible characters in An.  Let (M n ,g) be a compact Riemannian manifold with a smooth boundary. In this paper, we give a Lichnerowicz-Obata type lower bound for the first eigenvalue of the Laplacian of (M n ,g) when M has a parallel p-form (2 ≤pn/2). In this paper we study the local behaviour of admissible metrics in the k-Yamabe problem on compact Riemannian manifolds (M, g 0) of dimension n ≥ 3. For n/2 < k < n, we prove a sharp Harnack inequality for admissible metrics when (M, g 0) is not conformally equivalent to the unit sphere S n and that the set of all such metrics is compact. When (M, g 0) is the unit sphere we prove there is a unique admissible metric with singularity. As a consequence we prove an existence theorem for equations of Yamabe type, thereby recovering as a special case, a recent result of Gursky and Viaclovsky on the solvability of the k-Yamabe problem for k > n/2. In this paper, we study weighted mean integral convergence of Hakopian interpolation on the unit disk D. We show that the inner product between Hakopian interpolation polynomial Hn(f;x,y) and a smooth function g(x,y) on D converges to that of f(x,y) and g(x,y) on D when n →∞, provided f(x,y) belongs to C(D) and all first partial derivatives of g(x,y) belong to the space LipαM(0 <α≤ 1). We further show that provided all second partial derivatives of g(x,y) also belong to the space LipαM and f(x,y) belongs to C1 (D), the inner product between the partial derivative of Hakopian interpolation polynomial (6)/(6)xHn(f;x,y) and g(x,y) on D converges to that between (6)/(6)xf(x,y) and g(x,y) on D when n →∞.  相似文献

Let Γ g, n be the mapping class group of a compact Riemann surface of genusg withn points preserved (2−2gn<0,g≥1,n≥0). The Torelli subgroup of Γ g, n has a natural weight filtration {Γg, n(m)} m≥1. Each graded quotient gr m Γ g, n ⊗ ℚ (m≥1) is a finite dimensional vector space over ℚ on which the group Sp(2g, ℚ)×S n naturally acts. In this paper, we have determined the Sp(2g, ℚ)×S n module structure of gr m Γ g, n ⊗ ℚ for 1≤m≤3. This includes a verification of an expectation by S. Morita. Also, for generalm, we have identified a certain Sp(2g, ℚ)-irreducible component of gr m Γ g, n ⊗ ℚ by constructing explicitly elements in these modules.  相似文献

Hp (S,α) on a complex open Ol'shanskii semigroup S = G Exp (iW), where 1 ≤p≤∞ and α is an absolute value on the involutive semigroup X. For 1 < p < ∞ we prove the existence of an isometric boundary value map H p (S,α) → L p (G) generalizing the corresponding result of Ol'shanskii for p = 2 and α = 1. In the second part we use the fine structure of the space H 2 (S,1) to prove the existence of a bounded holomorphic function on S whose absolute value has a unique maximum in the boudary point 1Β G and therefore complete the proof of the approximation property of the Poisson kernel and the uniqueness of G as a Shilov boundary of S whenever W does not contain affine line.  相似文献

The Heisenberg motion groupHM(n), which is a semi-direct product of the Heisenberg group Hn and the unitary group U(n), acts on Hn in a natural way.
