We prove that the stable holonomies of a proper codimension 1 attractor Λ, for a Cr diffeomorphism f of a surface, are not C1+θ for θ greater than the Hausdorff dimension of the stable leaves of f intersected with Λ. To prove this result we show that there are no diffeomorphisms of surfaces, with a proper codimension 1 attractor, that are affine on a neighbourhood of the attractor and have affine stable holonomies on the attractor.  相似文献

We prove a one-to-one correspondence between (i) C1+ conjugacy classes of C1+H Cantor exchange systems that are C1+H fixed points of renormalization and (ii) C1+ conjugacy classes of C1+H diffeomorphisms f with a codimension 1 hyperbolic attractor Λ that admit an invariant measure absolutely continuous with respect to the Hausdorff measure on Λ. However, we prove that there is no C1+α Cantor exchange system, with bounded geometry, that is a C1+α fixed point of renormalization with regularity α greater than the Hausdorff dimension of its invariant Cantor set.  相似文献

The problem of the diffraction of an electromagnetic wave by a half plane with different face impedances is dealt with, following a rigorous approach based on the [L2+( ]2 theory of systems of Wiener-Hopf equations with piecewise continuous presymbols. The corresponding operator is defined in spaces of physically admissible solutions, the Sobolev spaces Hα+( )×Hα−1+( ) for , and its Fredholm characteristics are determined. For it is shown that the operators are invertible and their inverses are calculated. In the final section the inverse of a related operator presented by Meister and Speck is also obtained.  相似文献

We generalize the technique of Markov Extension, introduced by F. Hofbauer [10] for piecewise monotonic maps, to arbitrary smooth interval maps. We also use A. M. Blokh’s [1] Spectral Decomposition, and a strengthened version of Y. Yomdin’s [23] and S. E. Newhouse’s [14] results on differentiable mappings and local entropy. In this way, we reduce the study ofC r interval maps to the consideration of a finite number of irreducible topological Markov chains, after discarding a small entropy set. For example, we show thatC maps have the same properties, with respect to intrinsic ergodicity, as have piecewise monotonic maps.  相似文献

We consider a linear space of piecewise polynomials in three variables which are globally smooth, i.e. trivariate C1-splines of arbitrary polynomial degree. The splines are defined on type-6 tetrahedral partitions, which are natural generalizations of the four-directional mesh. By using Bernstein–Bézier techniques, we analyze the structure of the spaces and establish formulae for the dimension of the smooth splines on such uniform type partitions.  相似文献

An n-dimensional random vector X is said (Cambanis, S., Keener, R., and Simons, G. (1983). J. Multivar. Anal., 13 213–233) to have an α-symmetric distribution, α > 0, if its characteristic function is of the form φ(|ξ1|α + … + |ξn|α). Using the Radon transform, integral representations are obtained for the density functions of certain absolutely continuous α-symmetric distributions. Series expansions are obtained for a class of apparently new special functions which are encountered during this study. The Radon transform is also applied to obtain the densities of certain radially symmetric stable distributions on n. A new class of “zonally” symmetric stable laws on n is defined, and series expansions are derived for their characteristic functions and densities.  相似文献

According to a theorem of Martio, Rickman and Väisälä, all nonconstant Cn/(n-2)-smooth quasiregular maps in Rn, n≥3, are local homeomorphisms. Bonk and Heinonen proved that the order of smoothness is sharp in R3. We prove that the order of smoothness is sharp in R4. For each n≥5 we construct a C1+ε(n)-smooth quasiregular map in Rn with nonempty branch set.  相似文献

We study the properties of common spectral subspaces of the N generators of one-parameter (C0)-groups on different Banach spaces. The method of study is based on the functional calculus in the convolution algebra L1 (RN). This work characterizes some subclasses of α-stable (0 < α < 1) Banach spaces in terms of the extendibility to Radon laws of certain α-stable cylinder measures. These result extend the work of S. Chobanian and V. Tarieladze (J. Multivar. Anal.7, 183–203 (1977)). For these spaces it is shown that every Radon stable measure is the continuous image of a stable measure on a suitable Lβ space with β = α(1 − α)−1. The latter result extends some work of Garling (Ann. Probab.4, 600–611 (1976)) and Jain (Proceedings, Symposia in Pure Math. XXXI, p. 55–65, Amer. Math. Soc., Providence, R.I.).  相似文献

We prove that two C 3 critical circle maps with the same rotation number in a special set ? are C 1+α conjugate for some α>0 provided their successive renormalizations converge together at an exponential rate in the C 0 sense. The set ? has full Lebesgue measure and contains all rotation numbers of bounded type. By contrast, we also give examples of C critical circle maps with the same rotation number that are not C 1+β conjugate for any β>0. We study the asymptotic behavior of the ground-state wave function of multiparticle quantum systems without statistics in that region of configuration space where the particles break up into two well-defined clusters very far apart. One example of our results is the following: consider a system of N particles moving in three dimensions with rotationally invariant two-body potentials which are bounded and have compact support. Let D = C1,C2 be a partition into two clusters so that H(C1) and H(C2) have discrete ground states η1 and η2 of energy ε1 and ε2. Suppose that Σ = ε1 + ε2 = inf σess(H) and that H has a discrete ground state of energy E. Let ζ1and ζ2 denote internal coordinates for the clusters C1 and c2 and let R be the difference of the centers of mass of the clusters. Let μ = M1M2/M1 + M2with Mi the mass of clusters Ci and define k by k2/2m = Σ-E. Then as Ra8 with ¦ζi¦ bounded, we prove that (ζ12, R) = cη(ζ1)η(ζ2)ekRR−1(1+O(e−γR)) for some γ, c > 0. We study a large class of infinite variance time series that display long memory. They can be represented as linear processes (infinite order moving averages) with coefficients that decay slowly to zero and with innovations that are in the domain of attraction of a stable distribution with index 1 < α < 2 (stable fractional ARIMA is a particular example). Assume that the coefficients of the linear process depend on an unknown parameter vector β which is to be estimated from a series of length n. We show that a Whittle-type estimator βn for β is consistent (βn converges to the true value β0 in probability as n → ∞), and, under some additional conditions, we characterize the limiting distribution of the rescaled differences (n/logn)1/gan − β0).  相似文献

In the linear model Xn × 1 = Cn × pθp × 1 + En × 1, Huber's theory of robust estimation of the regression vector θp × 1 is adapted for two models for the partially specified common distribution F of the i.i.d. components of the error vector En × 1. In the first model considered, the restriction of F to a set [−a0, b0] is a standard normal distribution contaminated, with probability , by an unknown distribution symmetric about 0. In the second model, the restriction of F to [−a0, b0] is completely specified (and perhaps asymmetrical). In both models, the distribution of F outside the set [−a0, b0] is completely unspecified. For both models, consistent and asymptotically normal M-estimators of θp × 1 are constructed, under mild regularity conditions on the sequence of design matrices {Cn × p}. Also, in both models, M-estimators are found which minimize the maximal mean-squared error. The optimal M-estimators have influence curves which vanish off compact sets.  相似文献

We show that there exist infinite-dimensional extremely non-complex Banach spaces, i.e. spaces X such that the norm equality Id+T2=1+T2 holds for every bounded linear operator . This answers in the positive Question 4.11 of [V. Kadets, M. Martín, J. Merí, Norm equalities for operators on Banach spaces, Indiana Univ. Math. J. 56 (2007) 2385–2411]. More concretely, we show that this is the case of some C(K) spaces with few operators constructed in [P. Koszmider, Banach spaces of continuous functions with few operators, Math. Ann. 330 (2004) 151–183] and [G. Plebanek, A construction of a Banach space C(K) with few operators, Topology Appl. 143 (2004) 217–239]. We also construct compact spaces K1 and K2 such that C(K1) and C(K2) are extremely non-complex, C(K1) contains a complemented copy of C(2ω) and C(K2) contains a (1-complemented) isometric copy of .  相似文献

Based on observations of d-dimensional random vectors in the domain of attraction of a stable distribution with (multi-)index α = (α1, …, αd), an estimator for the dependence function of the αi-stable variables is constructed. The estimator utilizes the α-tail-estimator and an estimator of the spectral measure of the α-stable law. Summary A method of a collocation type based onC 0-piecewise polynomial spaces is presented for a two-point boundary value problem of the second order. The method has an optimal order of convergence under smoothness requirements on the exact solution which are weaker than forC 1-collocation methods. If the differential operator is symmetric, a modification of this method leads to a symmetric system of linear equations. It is shown that if the collocation solution is a piecewise polynomial of degree not greater thanr, the method is stable and convergent with orderh r inH 1-norm. A similar symmetric modification forC 0-colloction-finite element method [7] is also obtained. Superconvergence at the nodes is established.  相似文献
