Let (X, d) be a compact metric and 0 < α < 1. The space Lip α (X) of Hölder functions of order α is the Banach space of all functions ? from X into \(\mathbb{K}\) such that ∥?∥ = max{∥?∥, L(?)} < ∞, where
$L(f) = sup\{ \left| {f(x) - f(y)} \right|/d^\alpha (x,y):x,y \in X, x \ne y\} $
is the Hölder seminorm of ?. The closed subspace of functions ? such that
$\mathop {\lim }\limits_{d(x,y) \to 0} \left| {f(x) - f(y)} \right|/d^\alpha (x,y) = 0$
is denoted by lip α (X). We determine the form of all bijective linear maps from lip α (X) onto lip α (Y) that preserve the Hölder seminorm.

Considering a manifold (φ, ξ, η, g, X, D) with contact metric structure, we introduce the concept of N-extended connection (connection on a vector bundle (D, π,X)), with N an endomorphism of the distribution D, and show that the curvature tensor of each N-extended connection for a suitably chosen endomorphism N coincides with the Wagner curvature tensor.  相似文献

We introduce a lower semicontinuous analog, L ?(X), of the well-studied space of upper semicontinuous set-valued maps with nonempty compact interval images. Because the elements of L ?(X) contain continuous selections, the space C(X) of real-valued continuous functions on X can be used to establish properties of L ?(X), such as the two interrelated main theorems. The first of these theorems, the Extension Theorem, is proved in this Part I. The Extension Theorem says that for binormal spaces X and Y, every bimonotone homeomorphism between C(X) and C(Y) can be extended to an ordered homeomorphism between L ?(X) and L ?(Y). The second main theorem, the Factorization Theorem, is proved in Part II. The Factorization Theorem says that for binormal spaces X and Y, every ordered homeomorphism between L ?(X) and L ?(Y) can be characterized by a unique factorization.  相似文献

Let {Q n (α,β) (x)} n=0 denote the sequence of polynomials orthogonal with respect to the non-discrete Sobolev inner product
$\langle f,g\rangle=\int_{-1}^{1}f(x)g(x)d\mu_{\alpha,\beta}(x)+\lambda\int_{-1}^{1}f'(x)g'(x)d\nu_{\alpha,\beta}(x)$
where λ>0 and d μ α,β(x)=(x?a)(1?x)α?1(1+x)β?1 dx, d ν α,β(x)=(1?x) α (1+x) β dx with aα,β>0. Their inner strong asymptotics on (?1,1), a Mehler-Heine type formula as well as some estimates of the Sobolev norms of Q n (α,β) are obtained.

LetX be a topological vector space,Y an ordered topological vector space andL(X,Y) the space of all linear and continuous mappings fromX intoY. The hereditary order-convex cover [K] h of a subsetK ofL(X,Y) is defined by [K] h ={AL(X,Y):Ax∈[Kx] for allxX}, where[Kx] is the order-convex ofKx. In this paper we study the hereditary order-convex cover of a subset ofL(X,Y). We show how this cover can be constructed in specific cases and investigate its structural and topological properties. Our results extend to the spaceL(X,Y) some of the known properties of the convex hull of subsets ofX *.  相似文献

The paper studies the differential properties of functions of the form
$g(x) = \mathop {\max }\limits_{y \in Y} f(x,y),$
where xX (X is an open convex set from ? m ) and yY (Y is a compact from ? n ). Apart from the conventional smoothness conditions imposed on f(x, y), the condition of the concavity of g(x) on X is also imposed.
The differentiability of function g(x) on X is proved.The results of the study facilitate the derivation of the conditions ensuring the sufficiency of Pontryagin’s maximum principle.  相似文献

Let X and Y be completely regular spaces and E and F be Hausdorff topological vector spaces. We call a linear map T from a subspace of C(X, E) into C(Y, F) a Banach–Stone map if it has the form T f (y) =  S y (f (h(y))) for a family of linear operators S y : EF, \({y \in Y}\) , and a function h: YX. In this paper, we consider maps having the property:
$\bigcap^{k}_{i=1}Z(f_{i}) \neq\emptyset \iff \bigcap^{k}_{i=1}Z(Tf_{i})\neq\emptyset , \quad({\rm Z}) $
where Z(f) =  {f =  0}. We characterize linear bijections with property (Z) between spaces of continuous functions, respectively, spaces of differentiable functions (including C ), as Banach–Stone maps. In particular, we confirm a conjecture of Ercan and Önal: Suppose that X and Y are realcompact spaces and E and F are Hausdorff topological vector lattices (respectively, C *-algebras). Let T: C(X, E) → C(Y, F) be a vector lattice isomorphism (respectively, *-algebra isomorphism) such that
$ Z(f) \neq\emptyset\iff Z(Tf) \neq\emptyset. $
Then X is homeomorphic to Y and E is lattice isomorphic (respectively, C *-isomorphic) to F. Some results concerning the continuity of T are also obtained.

The sequence of Jacobi polynomials \(\{P_{n}^{(\alpha ,\beta )}\}_{n = 0}^{\infty }\) is orthogonal on (??1,1) with respect to the weight function (1 ? x)α(1 + x)β provided α > ??1,β > ??1. When the parameters α and β lie in the narrow range ??2 < α, β < ??1, the sequence of Jacobi polynomials \(\{P_{n}^{(\alpha ,\beta )}\}_{n = 0}^{\infty }\) is quasi-orthogonal of order 2 with respect to the weight function (1 ? x)α+?1(1 + x)β+?1 and each polynomial of degree n,n ≥?2, in such a Jacobi sequence has n real zeros. We show that any sequence of Jacobi polynomials \(\{P_{n}^{(\alpha ,\beta )}\}_{n = 0}^{\infty }\) with ??2 < α, β < ??1, cannot be orthogonal with respect to any positive measure by proving that the zeros of Pn??1(α,β) do not interlace with the zeros of Pn(α,β) for any \(n \in \mathbb {N},\)n ≥?2, and any α,β lying in the range ??2 < α, β < ??1. We also investigate interlacing properties satisfied by the zeros of equal degree Jacobi polynomials Pn(α,β),Pn(α,β+?1) and Pn(α+?1,β+?1) where ??2 < α, β < ??1. Upper and lower bounds for the extreme zeros of quasi-orthogonal order 2 Jacobi polynomials Pn(α,β) with ??2 < α, β < ??1 are derived.  相似文献

In this article we prove a general result on a nef vector bundle E on a projective manifold X of dimension n depending on the vector space Hn,n(X,E): It is also shown that Hn,n(X,E) = 0 for an indecomposable nef rank 2 vector bundles E on some specific type of n dimensional projective manifold X. The same vanishing shown to hold for indecomposable nef and big rank 2 vector bundles on any variety with trivial canonical bundle.  相似文献

Letd>1, and letα andβ be mixing ? d -actions by automorphisms of zero-dimensional compact abelian groupsX andY, respectively. By analyzing the homoclinic groups of certain sub-actions ofα andβ we prove that, if the restriction ofα to some subgroup Γ ? ? d of infinite index is expansive and has completely positive entropy, then every measurable factor mapφ: (X, α)→(Y, β) is almost everywhere equal to an affine map. The hypotheses of this result are automatically satisfied if the actionα contains an expansive automorphismα n ,n ∈ ? d , or ifα arises from a nonzero prime ideal in the ring of Laurent polynomials ind variables with coefficients in a finite prime field. Both these corollaries generalize the main theorem in [9]. In several examples we show that this kind of isomorphism rigidity breaks down if our hypotheses are weakened.  相似文献

We study the Nikol’skii inequality for algebraic polynomials on the interval [?1, 1] between the uniform norm and the norm of the space L q (α,β) , 1 ≤ q < ∞, with the Jacobi weight ?(α,β)(x) = (1 ? x) α (1 + x) β , αβ > ?1. We prove that, in the case α > β ≥ ?1/2, the polynomial with unit leading coefficient that deviates least from zero in the space L q (α+1,,β) with the Jacobi weight ? (α+1,β)(x) = (1?x) α+1(1+x) β is the unique extremal polynomial in the Nikol’skii inequality. To prove this result, we use the generalized translation operator associated with the Jacobi weight. We describe the set of all functions at which the norm of this operator in the space L q (α,β) for 1 ≤ q < ∞ and α > β ≥ ?1/2 is attained.  相似文献

Let k be an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero, let X and Y be smooth irreducible algebraic curves over k, and let D(X) and D(Y) denote respectively the quotient division rings of the ring of differential operators of X and Y. We show that if there is a k-algebra embedding of D(X) into D(Y), then the genus of X must be less than or equal to the genus of Y, answering a question of the first-named author and Smoktunowicz.  相似文献

We consider the oscillatory hyper Hilbert transform H γ,α,β f(x) = ∫ 0 f(x - Γ(t))eit-β t-(1+α)dt; where Γ(t) = (t, γ(t)) in ?2 is a general curve. When γ is convex, we give a simple condition on γ such that H γ,α,β is bounded on L 2 when β > 3α, β > 0: As a corollary, under this condition, we obtain the L p -boundedness of H γ,α,β when 2β/(2β - 3α) < p < 2β/(3α). When Γ is a general nonconvex curve, we give some more complicated conditions on γ such that H γ,α,β is bounded on L 2: As an application, we construct a class of strictly convex curves along which H γ,α,β is bounded on L 2 only if β > 2α > 0.  相似文献

Let X and Y be two Banach spaces, and f: XY be a standard ε-isometry for some ε ≥ 0. In this paper, by using a recent theorem established by Cheng et al. (2013–2015), we show a sufficient condition guaranteeing the following sharp stability inequality of f: There is a surjective linear operator T: YX of norm one so that
$$\left\| {Tf(x) - x} \right\| \leqslant 2\varepsilon , for all x \in X.$$
As its application, we prove the following statements are equivalent for a standard ε-isometry f: XY:
  1. (i)
    lim inf t→∞ dist(ty, f(X))/|t| < 1/2, for all yS Y ;

  2. (ii)
    \(\tau(f)\equiv sup_{y\epsilon S_{Y}}\) lim inf t→∞dist(ty, f(X))/|t| = 0;

  3. (iii)
    there is a surjective linear isometry U: XY so that
    $$\left\| {f(x) - Ux} \right\| \leqslant 2\varepsilon , for all x \in X.$$

In a two-dimensional local field K containing the pth root of unity, a polynomial formal group F c (X, Y) = X + Y + cXY acting on the maximal ideal M of the ring of integers б K and a constructive Hilbert pairing {·, ·} c : K 2(K) × F c (M) → <ξ> c , where <ξ> c is the module of roots of [p] c (pth degree isogeny of F c ) with respect to formal summation are considered. For the extension of two-dimensional local fields L/K, a norm map of Milnor groups Norm: K 2(L) → K 2(K) is considered. Its images are called norms in K 2(L). The main finding of this study is that the norm property of pairing {·, ·}c: {x,β} c : = 0 ? x is a norm in K 2(K([p] c -1 (β))), where [p] c -1 (β) are the roots of the equation [p] c = β, is checked constructively.  相似文献
