Heteroscorpionate ligands of the bis(pyrazolyl)methane family have been applied in the stabilisation of terminal copper tosyl nitrenes. These species are highly active intermediates in the copper‐catalysed direct C?H amination and nitrene transfer. Novel perfluoroalkyl‐pyrazolyl‐ and pyridinyl‐containing ligands were synthesized to coordinate to a reactive copper nitrene centre. Four distinct copper tosyl nitrenes were prepared at low temperatures by the reaction with SO2tBuPhINTs and copper(I) acetonitrile complexes. Their stoichiometric reactivity has been elucidated regarding the imination of phosphines and the aziridination of styrenes. The formation and thermal decay of the copper nitrenes were investigated by UV/Vis spectroscopy of the highly coloured species. Additionally, the compounds were studied by cryo‐UHR‐ESI mass spectrometry and DFT calculations. In addition, a mild catalytic procedure has been developed where the copper nitrene precursors enable the C?H amination of cyclohexane and toluene and the aziridination of styrenes.  相似文献

The pyrolysis of the simplest azides HN(3) and CH(3)N(3) has been studied computationally. Nitrogen extrusion leads to the production of NH or CH(3)N. The azides have singlet ground states but the nitrenes CH(3)N and NH have triplet ground states. The competition between spin-allowed decomposition to the excited state singlet nitrenes and the spin-forbidden N(2) loss is explored using accurate electronic structure methods (CASSCF/cc-pVTZ and MR-AQCC/cc-pVTZ) as well as statistical rate theories. Nonadiabatic rate theories are used for the dissociation leading to the triplet nitrenes. For HN(3), (3)NH formation is predicted to dominate at low energy, and the calculated rate constant agrees very well with energy-resolved experimental measurements. Under thermal conditions, however, the singlet and triplet pathways are predicted to occur competitively, with the spin-allowed product increasingly favored at higher temperatures. For CH(3)N(3) thermolysis, spin-allowed dissociation to form (1)CH(3)N should largely dominate at all temperatures, with spin-forbidden formation of (3)CH(3)N almost negligible. Singlet methyl nitrene is very unstable and should rearrange to CH(2)NH immediately upon formation, and the latter species may lose H(2) competitively with vibrational cooling, depending on temperature and pressure.  相似文献

A time-resolved resonance Raman (TR(3)) and computational investigation of the photochemistry of 4-acetamidophenyl azide and 4-N-methylacetamidophenyl azide in acetonitrile is presented. Photolysis of 4-acetamidophenyl azide appears to initially produce singlet 4-acetamidophenylnitrene which undergoes fast intersystem crossing (ISC) to form triplet 4-acetamidophenylnitrene. The latter species formally produces 4,4'-bisacetamidoazobenzene. RI-CC2/TZVP and TD-B3LYP/TZVP calculations predict the formation of the singlet nitrene from the photogenerated S(1) surface of the azide excited state. The triplet 4-acetamidophenylnitrene and 4,4'-bisacetamidoazobenzene species are both clearly observed on the nanosecond to microsecond time-scale in TR(3) experiments. In contrast, only one species can be observed in analogous TR(3) experiments after photolysis of 4-N-methylacetamidophenyl azide in acetonitrile, and this species is tentatively assigned to the compound resulting from dimerization of a 1,2-didehydroazepine. The different photochemical reaction outcomes for the photolysis of 4-acetamidophenyl azide and 4-N-methylacetamidophenyl azide molecules indicate that the 4-acetamido group has a substantial influence on the ISC rate of the corresponding substituted singlet phenylnitrene, but the 4-N-methylacetamido group does not. CASSCF analyses predict that both singlet nitrenes have open-shell electronic configurations and concluded that the dissimilarity in the photochemistry is probably due to differential geometrical distortions between the states. We briefly discuss the probable implications of this intriguing substitution effect on the photochemistry of phenyl azides and the chemistry of the related nitrenes.  相似文献

The free energies of reaction (DeltaG) and activation (DeltaG) were determined for the Curtius-like rearrangement of dimethylphosphinoyl, dimethylphosphinyl, and dimethylphosphoryl azides as well as the corresponding singlet and triplet nitrenes by CBS-QB3 and B3LYP computational methods. From CASSCF calculations, it was established that the closed-shell configuration was the lower energy singlet state for each of these nitrenes. The triplet states of dimethylphosphinyl- and dimethylphosphorylnitrene are the preferred ground states. However, the closed-shell singlet state is the ground state for dimethylphosphinoylnitrene. The CBS-QB3 DeltaG values for the Curtius-like rearrangements of dimethylphosphinyl and dimethylphosphoryl azides were 45.4 and 47.0 kcal mol-1, respectively. For the closed-shell singlet dimethylphosphinyl- and dimethylphosphorylnitrene, the CBS-QB3 DeltaG values for the rate-limiting step of the Curtius-like rearrangement were 22.9 and 18.0 kcal mol-1, respectively. It is unlikely that the nitrenes will undergo a Curtius-like rearrangement because of competing bimolecular reactions that have lower activation barriers. The pharmacology of weaponized organophosphorus compounds can be investigated using phosphorylnitrenes as photoaffinity labels. Dominant bimolecular reactivity is a desirable quality for a photoaffinity label to possess, and thus, the resistance of phosphorylnitrenes to intramolecular Curtius-like rearrangements increases their usefulness as photoaffinity labels.  相似文献

The chemistry of 2-(1-pyrazolyl)- (2a) and 2-[1-(3,5-dimethylpyrazolyl]phenylnitrene (2b) has been studied in EtOH solution at room temperature, in EtOH glasses at 90 K, and in Ar matrices at 12 K. These nitrenes were chosen as suitable models for clarifying the mechanism of intramolecular reactions because attack at the pyrazole ring can occur according to different modes and the asymmetry of the substituent gives rise to different conformations. Detailed DFT and CASSCF/CASPT2 studies on the conformation and decay paths of both spin states of the nitrenes have been carried out. Ring expansion to dehydroazepines (via benzoazirines) is calculated to be competitive in both nitrenes, but in the dimethyl derivative, 2b, attack onto the N lone pair (which is made more nucleophilic by the methyl groups) is favored. The higher barriers (by 4-8 kcal/mol) in singlet 2a cause 60-70% of this nitrene to decay by intersystem crossing to the triplet. Thus, the seemingly straightforward formation of benzo-fused heterocycles through intramolecular attack of the pyrazoline N lone pair by the singlet phenylnitrene can only overcome ring expansion and intermolecular reactions under favorable circumstances. The comparatively persistent triplet nitrenes are characterized in matrices, and the yields of photocyclization products (mainly pyrazolo[1,5-a]benzimidazole (7) from 2a and 5,6-dihydropyrazolo[1,5-a]quinoxaline (8) from 2b) are shown to depend on the preferred conformation of the starting azide and nitrene.  相似文献

Using single- and multireference approaches we have examined many of the low-lying electronic states of oxo-Mn(salen), several of which have not been explored previously. Large complete-active-space self-consistent-field (CASSCF) computations have been performed in pursuit of an accurate ordering for the lowest several electronic states. Basis set and relativistic effects have also been considered. For the geometry considered, our best results indicate the ground spin state to be a closed-shell singlet, followed by a pair of low-lying triplet states, with additional singlet states and the lowest quintet state lying significantly higher in energy. Hartree-Fock and density functional theory (DFT) results are obtained and are compared to the more robust CASSCF results. The Hartree-Fock results are qualitatively incorrect for the relative energies of the states considered. Popular density functionals such as BP86 and B3LYP are superior to Hartree-Fock for this problem, but they give inconsistent answers regarding the ordering of the lowest singlet and triplet states and they greatly underestimate the singlet-quintet gap. We obtained multiple Hartree-Fock and DFT solutions within a given spin multiplicity, and these solutions have been subjected to wave function stability analysis.  相似文献

Transition-metal nitrides/nitrenes are highly promising reagents for catalytic nitrogen-atom-transfer reactivity. They are typically prepared in situ upon optically induced N2 elimination from azido precursors. A full exploitation of their catalytic potential, however, requires in-depth knowledge of the primary photo-induced processes and the structural/electronic factors mediating the N2 loss with birth of the terminal metal-nitrogen core. Using femtosecond infrared spectroscopy, we elucidate here the primary molecular-level mechanisms responsible for the formation of a unique platinum(II) nitrene with a triplet ground state from a closed-shell platinum(II) azide precursor. The spectroscopic data in combination with quantum-chemical calculations provide compelling evidence that product formation requires the initial occupation of a singlet excited state with an anionic azide diradical ligand that is bound to a low-spin d8-configured PtII ion. Subsequent intersystem crossing generates the Pt-bound triplet azide diradical, which smoothly evolves into the triplet nitrene via N2 loss in a near barrierless adiabatic dissociation. Our data highlight the importance of the productive, N2-releasing state possessing azide ππ* character as a design principle for accessing efficient N-atom-transfer catalysts.  相似文献

We report the first detection of triplet alkyl nitrenes in fluid solution by laser flash photolysis of alpha-azido acetophenone derivatives, 1. Alphazides 1 contain an intramolecular triplet sensitizer, which ensures formation of the triplet alkyl nitrene by bypassing the singlet nitrene intermediate. At room temperature, azides 1 cleave to form benzoyl and methyl azide radicals in competition with triplet energy transfer to form triplet alkyl nitrene. The major photoproduct 3 arises from interception of the triplet alkyl nitrene with benzoyl radicals. The triplet alkyl nitrene intermediates are also trapped with molecular oxygen to yield the corresponding 2-nitrophenylethanone. Laser flash photolysis of 1 reveals that the triplet alkyl nitrenes have absorption around 300 nm. The triplet alkyl nitrenes were further characterized by obtaining their UV and IR spectra in argon matrices. (13)C and (15)N isotope labeling studies allowed us to characterize the C-N stretch of the nitrene intermediate at 1201 cm(-)(1).  相似文献

The equilibrium geometries and fundamental vibrational frequencies of the two energetically lowest-lying electronic states of p-iminophosphaalkyne (HCPNH) and nitrilimine (HCNNH) were determined using a split-valence basis set with polarization functions on the heavy atoms. The most extensively correlated functions used in the geometry optimizations were of the Complete Active Space Self-Consistent Field (CASSCF) variety and included eight electrons distributed among seven active orbitals for HCPNH and six active orbitals for HCNNH. The effects on predicted geometry of the size of the CASSCF active space were investigated for HCPNH and are reported. Multi-Reference Configuration Interaction with Single and Double excitations calculations have been performed at the equilibrium geometries using larger basis sets to determine more accurately the relative energetics of the electronic states. It was found that nitrilimine has the expected singlet ground state, with the triplet lying 38.5 kcal mol−1 higher in energy; however, p-iminophosphaalkyne has a triplet ground state, lying 9.7 kcal mol−1 below the singlet.  相似文献

To determine structure-optical property relationships in asymmetric platinum acetylide complexes, we synthesized the compounds trans-Pt(PBu3)2(C[triple bond]CC6H5)(C[triple bond]C-C6H4-C[triple bond]CC6H5) (PE1-2), trans-Pt(PBu3)2(C[triple bond]CC6H5)(C[triple bond]C-C6H4-C[triple bond]C-C6H4-C[triple bond]CC6H5) (PE1-3) and trans-Pt(PBu3)2(C[triple bond]C-C6H4-C[triple bond]CC6H5)(C[triple bond]C-C6H4-C[triple bond]C-C6H4-C[triple bond]CC6H5) (PE2-3) that have different ligands on either side of the platinum and compared their spectroscopic properties to the symmetrical compounds PE1, PE2 and PE3. We measured ground state absorption, fluorescence, phosphorescence and triplet state absorption spectra and performed density functional theory (DFT) calculations of frontier orbitals, lowest lying singlet states, triplet state geometries and energies. The absorption and emission spectra give evidence the singlet exciton is delocalized across the central platinum atom. The phosphorescence from the asymmetric complexes comes from the largest ligand. Time-dependent (TD) DFT calculations show the S1 state has mostly highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) --> lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) character, with the LUMO delocalized over the chromophore. In the asymmetric chromophores, the LUMO resides on the larger ligand, suggesting the S1 state has interligand charge transfer character. The triplet state geometries obtained from the DFT calculations show distortion on the lowest energy ligand, whereas the other ligand has the ground state geometry. The calculated trend in the triplet state energies agrees very well with the experimental trend. Calculations of triplet state spin density also show the triplet exciton is confined to one ligand. In the asymmetric complexes the spin density is confined to the largest ligand. The results show Kasha's rule applies to these complexes, where the triplet exciton moves to the lowest energy ligand.  相似文献

Experimental and DFT-based computational results on the aziridination mechanism and the catalytic activity of (bispidine)copper(I) and -copper(II) complexes are reported and discussed (bispidine=tetra- or pentadentate 3,7-diazabicyclo[3.1.1]nonane derivative with two or three aromatic N donors in addition to the two tertiary amines). There is a correlation between the redox potential of the copper(II/I) couple and the activity of the catalyst. The most active catalyst studied, which has the most positive redox potential among all (bispidine)copper(II) complexes, performs 180 turnovers in 30 min. A detailed hybrid density functional theory (DFT) study provides insight into the structure, spin state, and stability of reactive intermediates and transition states, the oxidation state of the copper center, and the denticity of the nitrene source. Among the possible pathways for the formation of the aziridine product, the stepwise formation of the two N-C bonds is shown to be preferred, which also follows from experimental results. Although the triplet state of the catalytically active copper nitrene is lowest in energy, the two possible spin states of the radical intermediate are practically degenerate, and there is a spin crossover at this stage because the triplet energy barrier to the singlet product is exceedingly high.  相似文献

Electronic structure calculations at the CASSCF and UB3LYP levels of theory with the aug-cc-pVDZ basis set were used to characterize structures, vibrational frequencies, and energies for stationary points on the ground state triplet and singlet O(2)+C(2)H(4) potential energy surfaces (PESs). Spin-orbit couplings between the PESs were calculated using state averaged CASSCF wave functions. More accurate energies were obtained for the CASSCF structures with the MRMP2/aug-cc-pVDZ method. An important and necessary aspect of the calculations was the need to use different CASSCF active spaces for the different reaction paths on the investigated PESs. The CASSCF calculations focused on O(2)+C(2)H(4) addition to form the C(2)H(4)O(2) biradical on the triplet and singlet surfaces, and isomerization reaction paths ensuing from this biradical. The triplet and singlet C(2)H(4)O(2) biradicals are very similar in structure, primarily differing in their C-C-O-O dihedral angles. The MRMP2 values for the O(2)+C(2)H(4)→C(2)H(4)O(2) barrier to form the biradical are 33.8 and 6.1 kcal/mol, respectively, for the triplet and singlet surfaces. On the singlet surface, C(2)H(4)O(2) isomerizes to dioxetane and ethane-peroxide with MRMP2 barriers of 7.8 and 21.3 kcal/mol. A more exhaustive search of reaction paths was made for the singlet surface using the UB3LYP/aug-cc-pVDZ theory. The triplet and singlet surfaces cross between the structures for the O(2)+C(2)H(4) addition transition states and the biradical intermediates. Trapping in the triplet biradical intermediate, following (3)O(2)+C(2)H(4) addition, is expected to enhance triplet→singlet intersystem crossing.  相似文献

Phenyl azide, 2,6-diethylphenyl azide, 2,6-diisopropylphenyl azide, and 2,4,6-tri-tert-butylphenyl azide were studied by laser flash photolysis (LFP) methods. LFP (266 nm) of the azides in glassy 3-methylpentane at 77 K produces the transient UV-vis absorption spectra of the corresponding singlet nitrenes. At 77 K, the singlet nitrenes relax to the corresponding triplet nitrenes. The triplet nitrenes are persistent at 77 K and their spectra were recorded. The rate constants of singlet to triplet intersystem crossing were determined at this temperature. LFP of 2,4,6-tri-tert-butyl phenyl azide in pentane at ambient temperature again produces a singlet nitrene, which is too short-lived to detect by nanosecond spectroscopy under these conditions. Unlike the other azides, the first detectable intermediate produced upon LFP of 2,4,6-tri-tert-butyl phenyl azide at ambient temperature is the benzazirine (285 nm) which has a lifetime of 62 ns controlled by ring opening to a didehydroazepine. The results are interpreted with the aid of Density Functional Theoretical and Molecular Orbital Calculations.  相似文献

A series of oligothiophene dications (from the sexithiophene dication to the 50-mer oligothiophene dication, nT2+, n = 6-50) were studied. Density functional theory (DFT) at the B3LYP/6-31G(d) level and, in some cases, also at BLYP/6-31Gd, was applied to study the singlet and triplet states of the whole series. We found that the singlet state is the ground state for all oligothiophene dications up to the 20-mer, and that the singlet and triplet states are degenerate for longer oligomers. Thus, the triplet state is never a pure ground state for these dications. We found that, for short oligothiophenes dication (e.g., 6T2+), the bipolaron state is the more important state, with only a small contribution made by the polaron pair state. For medium size oligothiophene dications (e.g., 14T2+), both the bipolaron state and the polaron-pair state contribute to the electronic structure. Finally, in long oligothiophene dications, such as 30T2+ and 50T2+, the contribution from the polaron pair state becomes dominant, and these molecules can be considered as consisting of two independent cation radicals or a polaron pair. Results from isodesmic reactions show that the stability of oligothiophene cation radicals over dications is inversely proportional to chain length. Small oligothiophene dications (n = 6-12) were studied at the CASSCF(m,m)/6-31G(d) (m = 4, 6, and 10) level. The major conclusions of this paper regarding the relative energy of the singlet state versus the triplet state and regarding the relative stability of the bipolaron versus the polaron pair were also supported by CASSCF calculations.  相似文献

Energy differences, ΔXS‐t (X = E, H and G) (ΔXS‐t = X(singlet)‐X(triplet)) between singlet (s) and triplet (t) states are calculated at B3LYP/6‐311++G (3df,2p). The DFT calculations show that the triplet state of C4H4C is a ground state with planar conformer respect to its corresponding nonplanar singlet state. Both singlet and triplet states of C4H4M (M = Si, Ge, Sn and Pb) have a planar conformer with the singlet ground state. Four isodesmic reactions are presented for determining the stability energies, SE. NICS calculations are carried out for C4H4M to determine the aromatic character.  相似文献

The decomposition of organic carbonylazides can lead to the formation of nitrenes. Ethoxycarbonylnitrene is formed in the photolytic and thermal decomposition of ethyl azidoformate and by α-elimination from N-(p-nitrobenzenesulfonyloxy)urethan. Both of the possible electronic states of this nitrene take part in intermolecular reactions. Pure singlet nitrene is formed by α-elimination from the urethan and on thermal decomposition of ethyl azidoformate, but changes so rapidly into the triplet form that the reactions of both forms are observed. Singlet ethoxycarbonylnitrene undergoes selective and stereospecific insertion into C? H bonds and adds stereospecifically to olefins. Triplet ethoxycarbonylnitrene, however, does not undergo insertion into C? H bonds, and adds to olefins with complete loss of the geometric configuration. By following quantitatively the stereospecificity of the addition reaction and by selective interception of the triplet and singlet forms of the nitrene, it can be shown that the photolysis of ethyl azidoformate leads directly to nitrene of which one third is in the triplet state. In the decomposition of aryl- and alkylcarbonylazides (acid azides), the removal of nitrogen is accompanied by a synchronous rearrangement to isocyanates (Curtius rearrangement). In this system, nitrenes are obtained only by photolysis. They add to double bonds and undergo very selective insertion into C? H bonds, but do not rearrange at a measurable rate to isocyanates. The photolytic Curtius rearrangement is also a concerted reaction.  相似文献

The ground state (S0) geometry of the firefly luciferin (LH2) was optimized by both DFT B3LYP and CASSCF methods. The vertical excitation energies (Tv) of three low-lying states (S1, S2, and S3) were calculated by TD-DFT B3LYP//CASSCF method. The S1 geometry was optimized by CASSCF method. Its Tv and the transition energy (Te) were calculated by MS-CASPT2//CASSCF method. Both the TD-DFT and MS-CASPT2 calculated S1 state Tv values agree with the experimental one. The IPEA shift greatly affects the MS-CASPT2 calculated Tv values. Some important excited states of LH2 and oxyluciferin (oxyLH2) are charge-transfer states and have more than one dominant configuration, so for deeply researching the firefly bioluminescence, the multireference calculations are desired.  相似文献

Reaction of Ar'GeGeAr' (1) with an excess of Me3SiN3 gives the non-Kekulé, biradicaloid Ar'Ge(mu-NSiMe3)2GeAr' (3, Ar' = 2,6-Dipp2C6H3, Dipp = 2,6-i-Pr2C6H3) which has a planar Ge2N2Si2 array and pyramidal geometry at the germaniums. DFT calculations for the model MeGe(mu-NSiH3)2GeMe indicate no Ge-Ge bonding and a singlet ground state. The calculated energy difference between the optimized singlet and triplet states is 17.51 kcal/mol.  相似文献

Photolysis of N-benzoyl-S,S-diphenylsulfilimine or N-benzoyl dibenzothiophene sulfilimine produces PhNCO and also benzoylnitrene. Direct observation of the triplet nitrene, energetic differences between the singlet and triplet state of the nitrene, and oxygen quenching experiments suggest that the triplet nitrene derives from the triplet excited state of the sulfilimine precursors, rather than through equilibration of nearby singlet and triplet states of the nitrene itself. In acetonitrile, the formation of an ylide, followed by cyclization to the corresponding oxadiazole, is the predominant nitrene chemistry, occurring on the time scale of a few microseconds and few tens of microseconds, respectively. Trapping experiments with substrates such as cis-4-octene suggest that reactivity of the nitrene is mainly through the singlet channel, despite a fairly small energy gap between the singlet ground state and the triplet.  相似文献
