The article deals with synthesis, characterization, and polymerization of 5-norbornene-2,3-dicarboximide end-capped resins (bisnadimides) based on 4,4′-diaminodiphenylether, 1,4/1,3-bis(4′-aminophenoxy) benzene, 2,2′-bis[4-(4′-aminophenoxy)phenyl]propane, and bis[4-(4′-aminophenoxy)phenyl]sulphone. Both exo and endo bisnadimides were prepared by reacting the aromatic diamines with exo or endo nadic anhydride in glacial acetic acid at 120°C. The exo or endo bisnadimides could be distinguished on the basis of differences observed in IR or 1H-NMR spectra. Both thermal (in solid state) and metathetical polymerization (using WCl6/tetramethyltin catalyst and chlorobenzene solvent) of bisnadimides was carried out. Only exo bisnadimides could be polymerized using metathesis reaction whereas thermal polymerization of both endo and exo bisnadimide could be successfully carried out at 300°C in static air atmosphere. The polymers were highly crosslinked and insoluble in common organic solvents. The polymers obtained by metathesis polymerization were light brown in color whereas those obtained by thermal polymerization were dark brown in color. Thermal stability of the thermally polymerized exo or endo bisnadimides was comparable. These polymers were stable up to 400°C and decomposed in a single step above this temperature. The char yield at 800°C depended on the structure of the polymer and was in the 39–56% range. The polymers formed by metathesis polymerization showed a 1–3% weight loss in the temperature range 226–371°C and decomposed in a single step above 440°C. The char yields were higher in these polymers (53–71%) compared to those obtained by thermal polymerization. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Polym Sci A: Polym Chem 35 : 2323–2331, 1997  相似文献

A series of fluorene‐based benzoxazine copolymers were synthesized from the mixture of 9,9‐bis(4‐hydroxyphenyl)fluorene and bisphenol A, and 4,4′‐diaminodiphenyloxide and paraformaldehyde. And the cured polybenzoxazine films derived from these copolymers were also obtained. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and hydrogen nuclear magnetic resonances confirmed the structure of these benzoxazines. Their molecular weight was estimated by gel permeation chromatography. The curing behavior of the precursors was monitored by FTIR and differential scanning calorimetry. Dynamic mechanical analysis and thermogravimetric analysis were performed to study the thermal properties of the cured polymers. The cured polybenzoxazines exhibit excellent heat resistance with glass transition temperatures (Tg) of 286–317°C, good thermal stability along with the values of 5% weight loss temperatures (T5) over 340°C, and high char yield over 50% at 800°C. The mechanical properties of the cured polymers were also measured by bending tests. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

High molecular-weight aromatic polyamides were obtained from 1,5- and 2,6-bis-(4′-carboxy-4-phenylenoxy-sulfonyl)naphthalene by direct polycondensation reaction in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone with various aromatic diamines, using triphenyl phosphite and pyridine as condensing agents. The polymers were characterized by elemental analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, and infrared analysis. The polyamides, obtained in quantitative yield, possessed inherent viscosities in the range 0.42–1.70 dL/g, glass transition temperatures between 245–310°C, and 10% weight loss temperatures in nitrogen and air above 435 and 424°C, respectively. Most of the polymers were soluble in aprotic solvents. The effect of the structure on properties, such as solubility, Tg, and thermal behavior, were also studied. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

A new dialdehyde monomer, 4,4′‐(hexafluoroisopropylidine) bis(p‐phenoxy) benzaldehyde, was prepared; it led to a number of novel poly‐Schiff bases in reactions with different diamines, such as 4,4′‐diaminidiphenyl ether, 4,4′‐(isopropylidine) bis(p‐phenoxy) dianiline, 4,4′‐(hexafluoroisopropylidine) bis(p‐phenoxy) dianiline, and benzidine. The polymers were characterized with viscosity measurements, nitrogen analyses, and IR and 1H NMR spectroscopy. These poly‐Schiff bases showed good thermal stability up to 491 °C for 10% weight loss in thermogravimetric analysis under air and high glass‐transition temperatures up to 215 °C in differential scanning calorimetry. These polymers were soluble in a wide range of organic solvents, such as CHCl3, dimethylformamide (DMF), dimethyl sulfoxide, and 1‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidon (NMP), and were insoluble in toluene and acetone. Thin films of these polymers cast from DMF exhibited tensile strengths up to 38 MPa. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Polym Sci A: Polym Chem 39: 383–388, 2001  相似文献

Novel polypyrazolinones with inherent viscosities ranging from 0.12 to 0.44 dL/g were prepared by the Michael-type nucleophilic addition-cyclization of various dihydrazines with 3,3′-(1,3- or 1,4-phenylene)bis(ethyl propynoate) (1,3- or 1,4-PEP) and 3,3′-(1,4-phenylene)bis(phenyl propynoate) (1,4-PPhP) in N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP) solution at 25–110°C. The polymers exhibited moderate thermal stability with initial weight loss in air about 200°C and in nitrogen about 300°C (TGA). No apparent Tg′s were observed by DSC analysis. The synthesis and characterization of the polypyrazolinones is discussed.  相似文献

A novel class of fire- and heat-resistant matrix resins has been synthesized by thermal polymerization of ethynyl-substituted aromatic cyclotriphosphazenes. Thermal polymerization of new tris[4-(4′-ethynylbenzanilido)phenoxy]tris(phenoxy) cyclotriphosphazene ( III ) and tris[4-(4′-ethynylphthalimido)phenoxy]tris(phenoxy)cyclotriphosphazene ( VII ) at 250°C for 1–1.5 h gave tough polymers. The thermal stabilities of the polymers were evaluated in nitrogen and in air by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The synthesised polymers were stable to 400–410°C and showed char yield of 78–65% at 800°C in nitrogen and of 78–69% at 700°C in air. The ethynyl-substituted polymer precursor ( III ) was synthesised by the reaction of tris(4-aminophenoxy)tris(phenoxy)cyclotriphosphazene ( I ) with 4-ethynylbenzoyl chloride. The polymer precursor ( VII ) was synthesised by a solution condensation of I with 4-ethynylphthalic anhydride followed by in situ thermal cyclodehydration at 150°C. The structure of polymer precursors was characterized using proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR), infrared (IR) spectroscopy, and elemental analysis. The curing of polymer precursors was monitored by differential scanning calorimetery (DSC) and IR spectroscopy. The synthesised matrix resins are potential candidates for the development of heat- and fire-resistant fiber-reinforced composites. © 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

In recent years, there have been concerted efforts to replace petrochemical products with those from renewable sources due to the unsustainability of petroleum feedstock, and the continued volatility in the price. This work describes the synthesis and thermal properties of two new lignin-derived poly(ether-amide)s as alternative thermoplastics to petroleum-based commodities. Poly-4-(2-aminoethoxy)benzoate (PEAB) and poly-4-(2-aminoethoxy)-3-methoxybenzoate (PEAV) are synthesized by a melt polycondensation and characterized by 1H NMR spectroscopy and thermal analysis. The number average molecular weight (Mn) of the polymers are estimated from the 1H NMR spectroscopy analysis, and were shown to be 4100 and 12,000 g/mol for PEAB and PEAV respectively. The PEAB had a higher decomposition temperature (Td) as well as glass transition temperature (Tg) compared to PEAV; albeit, with a lower molecular weight. The polymers’ Td were in the range of 330 °C–380 °C and the Tg were between 100 °C and 120 °C. The thermal properties of the polymers are in the desirable range for thermoplastic materials used in the packaging, storage, and coating industries. Furthermore, the polymers are susceptible to degradation under acidic conditions in a short period; a property that is highly desirable for degradable polymers. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Hyperbranched polyaspartimides were successfully prepared from bismaleimides (A2) and triamines (B3) through the Michael addition reaction. Two bismaleimides of 4,4′‐bismaleimidodiphenylmethane (BMDM) and bis(3‐ethyl‐5‐methyl‐4‐ maleimidophenyl)methane (BEMM) and two triamines of tris(3‐aminophenyl)phosphine oxide (TAPPO) and tris(4‐aminophenyl)amine (TAPA) were employed in the preparation of these hyperbranched polyaspartimides. The chemical structures of the polymers were characterized with Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), 1H and 31P NMR, and elemental analysis. Degrees of branching ranging from 0.51 to 0.69 were found with the polyaspartimides, ensuring their hyperbranched structure. The polymers also showed good solubility in common solvents, high glass‐transition temperatures of 256 °C, and excellent thermal stability above 370 °C. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. As distinguished from the conventional preparation of poly(aryl ether ketone)s utilizing 4,4′‐difluorobenzophenone, a novel synthetic method of high molecular weight poly(phthalazinone ether ketone) derived from 4,4′‐dichlorobenzophenone was studied. Reaction conditions to get high molecular weight polymer were investigated in details. Experimentally, sulfolane was chosen as the reaction media and high molecular weight polymer could be obtained in 7–8 hr at 210°C. The cyclic oligomers in the polymer product reduced to below 3.0% when the concentration of the reactant is 1.6–1.7 g/ml. Fourier transform infrared (FT‐IR), 1H NMR, and elemental analysis were used to confirm the structure of the obtained polymer. The amorphous polymer showed reasonable solubility in selective solvent, such as chloroform and N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone, and tough, flexible, and transparent thin film can be readily prepared from their N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone solution. The obtained polymer showed high glass transition temperature (Tg) up to 261°C detected by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and the temperature of 5% weight loss under nitrogen higher than 500°C detected by thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), indicating its excellent thermal stability. A series of novel organosoluble polyamides (PAs) bearing different functional groups such as flexible ether, substituted imidazole, and xanthene rings and electron-withdrawing CF3 groups were synthesized from diamines and various dicarboxylic acids. The structures of diamines and PAs were fully characterized by elemental analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The PAs showed good solubility in aprotic and polar organic solvents, with high thermal stability exhibiting the glass transition temperatures (Tgs) and 10% weight loss temperatures (T10%) in the range of 184–277°C and 410–480°C in N2 atmosphere, respectively. These polymers showed fluorescence emission upon irradiation with UV light. Diamine compounds and two of synthesized polymers were also screened for antibacterial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, and the obtained results for all four combinations showed good inhibition. Extraction capability for heavy metal ions such as Cr3+, Pb2+, Hg2+, Cd2+, and Co2+ from aqueous solutions was also tested at 25°C and pH 7–8.  相似文献

A triamine monomer, 1,3,5‐tris(4‐aminophenoxy)benzene (TAPOB), was synthesized from phloroglucinol and 4‐chloronitrobenzene, and it was successfully polymerized into soluble hyperbranched polyimides (HB PIs) with commercially available dianhydrides: 4,4′‐(hexafluoroisopropylidene)diphthalic anhydride (6FDA), 4,4′‐oxydiphthalic anhydride (ODPA), and 3,3′,4,4′‐benzophenonetetracarboxylic dianhydride (BTDA). Different monomer addition methods and different monomer molar ratios resulted in HB PIs with amino or anhydride end groups. From 1H NMR spectra, the degrees of branching of the amino‐terminated polymers were estimated to be 0.65, 0.62, and 0.67 for 6FDA–TAPOB, ODPA–TAPOB, and BTDA–TAPOB, respectively. All polymers showed good thermal properties with 10% weight‐loss temperatures (T10's) above 505 °C and glass‐transition temperatures (Tg's) of 208–282 °C for various dianhydrides. The anhydride‐terminated HB PIs showed lower T10 and Tg values than their amino‐terminated counterparts. The chemical conversion of the terminal amino or anhydride groups of the 6FDA‐based polyimides into an aromatic imido structure improved their thermal stability, decreased their Tg, and improved their solubility. The HB PIs had moderate molecular weights with broad distributions. The 6FDA‐based HB PIs exhibited good solubility even in common low‐boiling‐point solvents such as chloroform, tetrahydrofuran, and acetone. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A novel spirobichroman unit containing dietheramine, 6,6′-bis(4-aminophenoxy)-4,4,4′,4′,7,7′-hexamethyl-2,2′-spirobichroman ( 3 ), was prepared by the nucleophilic substitution of 6,6′-dihydroxy-4,4,4′,4′,7,7′-hexamethyl-2,2′-spirobichroman with p-chloronitrobenzene in the presence of K2CO3 followed by hydrazine catalytic reduction of the intermediate dinitro compound. A series of polyimides were synthesized from diamine 3 and various aromatic dianhydrides by a conventional two-stage procedure through the formation of poly(amic-acid)s followed by thermal imidization. The intermediate poly(amic-acid)s had inherent viscosities of 1.00–2.78 dL/g. All the poly-(amic-acid)s could be thermally cyclodehydrated into flexible and tough polyimide films, and some polyimides were soluble in polar solvents such as N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP), N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc), and N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF). These polyimides had glass transition temperatures (Tg) in the range of 236–256°C, and 10% weight loss occurred up to 450°C. Furthermore, a series of polyamides and poly(amide-imide)s with inherent viscosities of 0.71–2.29 dL/g were prepared by direct polycondensation of the diamine 3 with various aromatic dicarboxylic acids and imide ring-containing dicarboxylic acids by means of triphenyl phosphite and pyridine. All the polyamides and poly(amide-imide)s were readily soluble in polar solvents such as DMAc, and tough and flexible films could be cast from their DMAc solutions. These polymers had glass transition temperatures in the range of 137–228°C and 10% weight loss temperatures in the range of 419–443°C in air and 404–436°C in nitrogen, respectively. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Several new phosphorylated or nonphosphorylated maleimide or nadimide systems containing s-triazine rings were synthesized. Their synthesis was accomplished by simple methods utilizing readily available and relatively inexpensive starting materials. All polymer precursors were characterized by infrared (IR) and proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR) spectroscopy. They were thermally polymerized to heat-resistant laminating resins. Thermal characterization of monomers and their cured resins was achieved using differential thermal analysis (DTA), dynamic thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and isothermal gravimetric analysis (IGA). The cured resins were stable up to 304–330°C both in nitrogen and air atmospheres and formed anaerobic char yield 49–59% at 800°C. The phosphorylated polymers showed a lower temperature of initial weight loss but afforded higher anaerobic char yield than did the corresponding nonphosphorylated polymers. The thermal properties of the polymers were correlated with their chemical structure.  相似文献

New polyphthalimidine-forming monomers, 5,5′-(oxydi-p-phenylenedicarbonyl)bis(3-benzylidenephthalide) and the 6,6′-derivative, were synthesized by the Friedel–Crafts reaction of diphenyl ether with 5- and 6-chloroformyl-3-benzylidenephthalide, respectively. The direct polycondensation of these bisphthalides with both aliphatic and aromatic diamines in o-phenylphenol at 200–250°C afforded polyphthalimidines having inherent viscosities of 0.2–1.2 dL/g in almost quantitative yields. Syntheses of aliphatic polyphthalimidines with higher inherent viscosities were also achieved by a two-step procedure involving ring-opening polyaddition and subsequent thermal cyclodehydration. All the polymers were amorphous and readily soluble in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP), m-cresol, nitrobenzene, pyridine, and chloroform. Tough and flexible films could be cast from NMP solutions of the polymers. Glass transition temperatures of the polyphthalimidines were in the range of 158–246°C. The thermogravimetry of the aromatic polymers showed 10% weight loss in air and nitrogen at 445–515 and 500–520°C, respectively. The crosslinking reaction of some benzylidenependant polyphthalimidines took place at 300°C through double-bond addition to afford cured polymers with improved thermal stability.  相似文献

A new cardo diamine monomer 3, 3‐bis‐[4‐{2′trifluoromethyl 4′‐(4″‐aminophenyl) phenoxy} phenyl]‐2‐phenyl‐2, 3‐dihydro‐isoindole‐1‐one ( 4 ) has been synthesized from potentially cheap phenolphthalein as the starting material. This diamine was used for the synthesis of a new poly(ether amide) and two co‐poly(ether amide)s using 4, 4′‐diaminodiphenyl ether (ODA) as co‐monomer by direct solution polycondensation with 5‐t‐butyl iso‐phthalic acid. These new polymers showed inherent viscosities of 0.48–0.62 dL g?1. The resulting poly(ether amide) and co‐poly(ether amide)s were readily soluble in polar aprotic solvents like NMP, DMF, DMAc, DMSO, and pyridine. The polymers have been fully characterized by 1H and 13C NMR, FTIR spectroscopy, and elemental analysis. These polymers showed glass transition temperatures in the range of 267–310°C. Thermogravimetric analysis indicated high thermal stability of these polymers at 5 and 10% weight loss temperature in air above 357°C and 419°C, respectively. The poly(ether amide) films cast from DMAc were flexible with tensile strength up to 91 MPa, elongations at break up to 11%, and modulus of elasticity up to 1.82 GPa. X‐ray diffraction measurements indicate the amorphous nature of the poly(ether amide)s. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

New sulfur‐containing polymers with high‐refractive indices and low birefringences have been developed as UV‐curable high‐refractive polymer resins. The polymers derived from 2,7‐bis[(2‐acryloylethyl)sulfanyl]thianthrene (2,7‐BAST) and 4,4′‐bis[(acryloyloxyethylthio)diphenylsulfide (4,4′‐BADS) were prepared by photopolymerization under UV irradiation. Transparent UV‐cured films were obtained in both cases. Both polymers showed good thermal stability, such as a 5% weight‐loss temperature at 355 °C under nitrogen and glass transition temperatures (Tg) in the range of 94–143 °C. They also showed high‐refractive indices of 1.6531 and 1.6645 at 632.8 nm and low birefringences of 0.0039 and 0.0069 in addition to high transparency in the visible region. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Alkali and earth‐alkali salts of dicyclopentadiene dicarboxylic acid (DCPDCA) were prepared and employed as monomers in the polyesterification with an α,ω‐dihalide monomer, such as 1,4‐dichlorobutane (DCB), 1,4‐dibromobutane (DBB), α,α′‐dichloro‐p‐xylene (DCX), and α,α′‐dibromo‐p‐xylene (DBX). Novel linear polymers that possessed repeating moieties of dicyclopentadiene ( DCPD ) in the backbone were thus prepared. The IR and NMR spectra indicated that poly(tetramethylene dicyclopentadiene dicarboxylate) (PTMDD) with a number‐average molecular weight (Mn ) of about 1× 104 and poly(p‐xylene dicyclopentadiene dicarboxylate) (PXDD) with a Mn of 4–6 × 103 were obtained with an yield of about 80% via the polyesterification of the alkali salts with DBB and DCX, respectively. The reaction was carried out in the presence of a phase transfer catalyst, such as BzMe3NBr or poly(ethylene glycol), in DMF at 100 °C for 4 h. Oligomers with a lower Mn (1–2 × 103) were obtained when the earth‐alkali salts were employed as salt monomers. Compared to the irreversible linear polymers, poly(p‐xylene terephthalate) (PXTP) and poly(p‐xylene maleate) (PXM), prepared through the reaction between DCX and the potassium salts of terephthalic and maleic acid, respectively, the specific viscosities (ηsp) of the new linear polymers increased abnormally with the decrease of the temperature from 200 °C to 100 °C. This occurred due to the thermally reversible dedimerization/redimerization of  DCPD moieties of the backbone of the polymers via the catalyst‐free Diels–Alder/retro Diels–Alder cycloadditive reactions. The ratio of the ηsp at 100 °C and 200 °C of the reversible polymers was found to be much higher than that of PXTP and PXM, even when the heating/cooling cycle was carried out several times under a N2 atmosphere. The obtained results indicated that thermally reversible covalently bonded linear polymer can be obtained by introducing the  DCPD structure into the backbone of the polymer through the polymerization of a monomer containing the  DCPD moiety. The reversible natures of the polymers and oligomers might be useful in preparing easily processable and recyclable polymers and thermosensor materials. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A diverse pool of aryl bistrifluorovinyl ether (BTFVE) compounds with reactive pendant groups were prepared in a facile, high yielding three step “one‐pot” synthesis from commercial 4‐bromo(trifluorovinyloxy)benzene. Monomers were confirmed from ATR–FTIR, 1H, 13C, and 19F NMR, and HRMS analysis. Aryl BTFVE compounds were thermally polymerized to afford perfluorocyclobutyl (PFCB) aryl ether polymers with high number–average molecular weight (Mn) for homopolymers (17,050–27,090) and copolymers with 4,4′‐bis(trifluorovinyloxy)biphenyl monomers (27,860–56,500). The PFCB aryl ether homo‐ and copolymers collectively possess high thermal stability (>299 °C in N2) and are readily solution processable producing optically transparent films. The thermal polymerization was achieved and reactive moieties remained intact, aside from those functionalized with acrylates. In the case with acrylate functionalized polymers, orthogonal polymerization was achieved by first photopolymerizing the acrylates followed by thermal curing of the aryl trifluorovinyl ether endgroups. Preliminary results in this study produced the successful preparation of photodefinable PFCB aryl ether material. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A novel aromatic diacid, 3, 5‐dicarboxyl‐4′‐amino diphenyl ether, containing pendant phenoxy amine group was synthesized. Homo‐ and co‐polybenzimidazoles containing different content of pendant phenoxyamine groups were synthesized by condensation of 3,3′‐diaminobenzidine with this acid and a mixture of this acid and isophthalic acid in different ratio in polyphosphoric acid. Copolybenzimidazoles with structural variations were also synthesized based on this acid and pyridine dicarboxylic acid, terephthalic acid, adipic acid, or sebacic acid. The polymers have good solubility in polar aprotic solvents and strong acids and they form tough flexible films by solution casting. The polymers were characterized by different instrumental techniques (FTIR, TGA, DSC, XRD, etc.) and for solvent solubility, mechanical properties, inherent viscosity, and proton conductivity. The inherent viscosities of the polymers vary in the range of 0.62–1.52 dL/g.
