Several polyesters containing thiaxanthone rings were prepared from 2,7-dichloroformylthiaxanthone-5,5′-dioxide ( IVa ), 2,8-dichloroformylthiaxanthone-5,5′-dioxide ( IVb ), and bisphenols by solution polycondensation. The 2,8-diethoxycarbonylthiaxanthone-5,5′-dioxide ( V ) was prepared and characterized by spectral methods to confirm the formation of 2,8-thiaxanthonedicarboxylic acid-5,5′-dioxide ( IVb ). Prior to polymer synthesis two model compounds,2,7-diphenoxycarbonylthiaxanthone-5,5′-dioxide (MDE-1) and 2,8-diphenoxycarbonylthiaxanthone-5,5′-dioxide (MDE-2), were synthesized and characterized by spectral methods. The polyesters were obtained in 62–78% yield and had inherent viscosities in the range 0.42–0.90 dL/g. The effect of thiaxanthone rings on solubility, crystallinity, and thermal stability of the polyesters are also discussed. The polyesters have decomposition temperatures in the range 372–438°C.  相似文献

This paper presents the synthesis and characterization of two series of polymeric compounds comprising eight furan-based polyamides prepared via melt polycondensation at low temperatures using various combinations of five aromatic raw materials. The chemical and physical structures and thermal stabilities of the obtained polyamides were investigated by various characterization methods. In addition, the polyamides were subjected to solubility testing in five common organic solvents. The results showed that the proposed furan-based polyamides possessed thermal stabilities similar to those of conventional high-performance aromatic polyamides, but with greatly improved solubility. Accordingly, the introduction of furan groups increased the solubility of the polyamides with respect to the solubility of their individual precursors, which is highly advantageous for subsequent polyamide processing and expanding their range of potential applications.  相似文献

A new aromatic diacid monomer viz., 4-(4′-carboxyphenoxy)-2-pentadecylbenzoic acid was synthesized starting from cardanol and was characterized by FTIR, 1H- and 13C NMR spectroscopy. A series of new aromatic polyamides containing ether linkages and pendant pentadecyl chains was prepared by phosphorylation polycondensation of 4-(4′-carboxyphenoxy)-2-pentadecylbenzoic acid with five commercially available aromatic diamines viz., 1,4-phenylenediamine, 4,4′-oxydianiline, 4,4′-methylenedianiline, 1,3-phenylenediamine, and 4,4′-(hexafluoroisopropylidene)dianiline. Inherent viscosities of the polyamides were in the range 0.45-0.66 dL/g in N,N-dimethylacetamide at 30 ± 0.1 °C. The introduction of ether linkages and pendant pentadecyl chains into polyamides led to an enhanced solubility in N,N-dimethylacetamide and 1-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone at room temperature or upon heating. The polyamides could be solution-cast into tough, flexible and transparent films from their N,N-dimethylacetamide solution. Wide angle X-ray diffraction patterns exhibited broad halo indicating that the polymers were essentially amorphous in nature. X-Ray diffractograms also displayed a diffuse to sharp reflection in the small-angle region (2θ = ∼2-5°) for the polyamides characteristics of formation of loosely to well-developed layered structure arising from packing of flexible pentadecyl chains. The glass transition temperature observed for the polyamides was in range 139-189 °C. The temperature at 10% weight loss (T10), determined by TGA in nitrogen atmosphere, of the polyamides was in the range 425-453 °C indicating their good thermal stability.  相似文献

A series of polyisophthalamides containing pendent phthalimido groups and flexible side spacers were prepared from four novel diacids and three commercial aromatic diamines. These polyamides were prepared in high yields and with high molecular weights by direct polycondensation with triphenyl phosphite and pyridine as condensing agents. The weight‐average and number‐average molecular weights, measured by gel permeation chromatography, were 70,000–137,000 and 47,000–86,000 g/mol, respectively. The novel polyamides were amorphous and readily soluble and showed glass‐transition temperatures of 150–240 °C, as measured by differential scanning calorimetry. Thermogravimetric analysis showed that the 10% weight‐loss temperatures in nitrogen were 355–430 °C, a significant improvement in thermal stability having been observed with the increase in the side‐chain length. A theoretical quantum mechanical study was successfully carried out to explain these results. Flexible and tough films, cast from polymer solutions, showed tensile strengths of 50–125 MPa. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 40: 3711–3724, 2002  相似文献

A series of new polyamides containing tetraphenyl thiophene having pendant phenyl moiety with heterocyclic quinoxaline unit were synthesized by using the solution polycondensation method of novel diamine monomer V with isopthaloyl chloride (IPC) and terpthaloyl chloride (TPC) in various mole proportions. These novel polymers were characterized by FT-IR, solubility, inherent viscosity, thermal analysis and X-ray diffraction studies. Inherent viscosities of these polymers were in the range 0.66 to 1.44 dL/g indicating moderate to high molecular weight built-up. These polymers exhibited solubility in various solvents such as DMAc, NMP, pyridine, m-cresol etc. X-ray diffraction pattern of polymers showed that introduction of pendant phenyl moiety would disturb the chain regularity and packing, leading to amorphous nature. Thermal analysis by TGA and DSC showed excellent thermal stability of polymers. The structure -property correlation among these polyamides were studied, in view of these polymer's potential applications as processable high temperature resistance materials.  相似文献

Novel polyamides that contained p-terphenyl units were prepared with inherent viscosities in the range of 0.4–1.7 dL/g by the polycondensation of 4,4″-dichloroformyl-p-terphenyl with aromatic diamines and 4,4″-diamino-p-terphenyl with aromatic dicarbonyl chlorides. Polyamides composed of only paraoriented phenylene units were insoluble in all solvents and showed a high degree of crystallinity. A series of polyamides that contained p-terphenyl units were more thermostable than corresponding polymers with p-phenylene or biphenylene linkages.  相似文献

Novel conjugated copolymers based on 9,9‐dioctylfluorene and bisphenazine (BP) were synthesized by Suzuki polymerization. Energy transfer from the conjugated main chain to the BP moieties was observed. Full energy transfer was achieved when the molar content of the bisphenazine was 20% (20BPPF) in toluene solution. The similar phenomena were observed even for 1% bisphenazine content copolymer (1BPPF) in film. The lowest occupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energy levels (?3.06 eV) of the copolymers were lower than that of the polyfluorene homopolymer (PFO; ?2.65 eV), indicating that the introduction of the BP unit was benefit to electron injection. Single‐layer electroluminescent devices (ITO/PEDOT:PSS/polymer/LiF/Al) were fabricated to investigate their electroluminescence (EL) performances. The maximum brightness and current efficiency of all BPPF copolymers surpassed the PFO homopolymer. The best single‐layer device was based on 5BPPF, with a maximum brightness of 1532 cd/m2 and current efficiency of 1.09 cd/A. Much higher efficiency could be achieved for multilayer EL devices of 5BPPF (ITO/PEDOT:PSS/PVK/polymer/TPBI/LiF/Al), which showed a maximum current efficiency of 10.01 cd/A. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of new poly(arylene ether)s, containing naphthalene, pyridine, and quinoline units have been prepared by solution condensation polymerization. The synthesis involves nucleophilic displacement of aromatic dihalides with aromatic potassium bisphenates in an anhydrous dipolar aprotic solvent at elevated temperatures. The polymers, having inherent viscosity from 0.24 to 1.32 dL/g, were obtained in quantitative yield, have excellent thermal stability as shown by 10% weight loss temperatures in nitrogen and air (above 450 and 430°C, respectively) and high glass transition temperatures (in the range of 150–220°C). The introduction of quinoline moieties in the polymer backbone positively influences the thermal properties, such as high Tg/Tm ratios. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

New polyamides containing thianthrene tetraoxide were synthesized from 2,7-dichloroformylthianthrene-5,5′,10,10′-tetraoxide (A) and various diamines by the low temperature solution polycondensation technique. The resulting polyamides were characterized by i.r. and 1H-NMR spectra and elemental analysis. The polyamides had inherent viscosities of 0.56–1.21 dl/g in DMA at 30°. All the polymers dissolved readily at room temperature in polar aprotic solvents. Density, crystallinity and thermal stability of these polyamides have been determined. In order to characterize the polymers, a model compound was also prepared from A and p-toluidine.  相似文献

A dicarboxylic acid monomer, 5-phthalimidoisophthalic acid, containing a phthalimide pendent group was prepared by the condensation of 5-aminoisophthalic acid and phthalic anhydride in glacial acetic anhydride. The monomer was reacted with various aromatic diamines to produce polyamides using triphenyl phosphite and pyridine as condensing agents. These polyamides were produced with inherent viscosities of 0.64–1.14 dL · g−1. All the polymers, characterized by wide-angle X-ray diffraction, revealed an amorphous nature resulting from the presence of the bulky pendent group. These polyamides exhibited excellent solubility in a variety of solvents such as N- methyl-2-pyrrolidinone, N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc), N,N-dimethylformamide, dimethyl sulfoxide, pyridine, and cyclohexanone. These polyamides showed glass-transition temperatures (Tg's) between 247 and 273 °C (by DSC) and 248 and 337 °C (by a dynamic mechanical analyzer). The thermogravimetric analytic measurement revealed the decomposition temperature at 10% weight-loss temperatures (Td10) ranging from 442 to 530 °C in nitrogen. The polyamides containing phthalimide groups exhibited higher Tg and Td10 values than those having no phthalimide groups. Transparent, tough, and flexible films of these polyamides could be cast from the DMAc solutions. These casting films had tensile strengths ranging from 81 to 126 MPa, elongations at break ranging from 7 to 13%, and tensile moduli ranging from 2.0 to 2.9 GPa. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A new 3-trifluoromethyl-substituted triphenylamine-containing aromatic diacid monomer, N,N-bis(4-carboxyphenyl)-3-trifluoromethylaniline, was prepared by the substitution reaction of 3-trifluoromethylaniline with 4-fluorobenzonitrile, followed by alkaline hydrolysis of the dinitrile intermediate. Novel aromatic polyamides with 3-trifluoromethyl-substituted triphenylamine moieties were prepared from the diacid and various aromatic diamines via the direct phosphorylation polycondensation. All the polyamides were amorphous and readily soluble in many polar organic solvents such as N,N-dimethylacetamide and N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, and could be solution-cast into transparent, tough, and flexible films with good mechanical properties. They exhibited good thermal stability with relatively high glass-transition temperatures (258–327°C), 10% weight-loss temperatures above 500°C, and char yields higher than 60% at 800°C in nitrogen. These polymers had low dielectric constants of 3.22–3.70 (100 Hz), low moisture absorption in the range of 1.75–2.58%, and high transparency with an ultraviolet–visible absorption cut-off wavelength in the 375–395 nm range. Cyclic voltammograms of the polyamide films cast onto an indium tin oxide coated glass substrate exhibited a reversible oxidation redox couple with oxidation half-wave potentials (E1/2) of 0.95–1.00 V vs. Ag/AgCl in an acetonitrile solution.  相似文献

New polyamides with high molecular weights consisting of flexible rod-like mesogenic units (4,4'-diphenyl and 3,4'-diphenyl moieties having bent linkages in the central parts) and aliphatic spacers were synthesized and the thermotropic liquid-crystalline properties were investigated. Differential scanning calorimetry, texture observations by polarizing microscopy, miscibility tests and X-ray analysis suggested that the polymers showed well-defined thermotropic smectic mesophases. The polyamides containing 4,4'-diphenyl moieties had higher transition temperatures and formed more stable liquid-crystalline phases than the polyamide composed of the 3,4'-diphenyl unit with a kinked bond.  相似文献

Polyamides were synthesized from diacids containing a s-triazine ring and two aromatic diamines, namely 4,4′-diaminodiphenyl ether (ODA) and 4,4′-diaminodiphenylmethane (MDA), by direct polycondensation using the phosphorylation reaction. Polymers thus obtained were characterized by viscosity measurement, IR spectroscopy, thermogravimetry, X-ray diffraction, and solubility tests. These polyamides had inherent viscosities in the range of 0.51–0.77 dL/g, and were amorphous in nature. All the polymers were readily soluble in various organic solvents and did not lose weight below 270°C in air.  相似文献
