Fast atom bombardment combined with mass spectrometry (FAB/MS), high resolution FAB/MS, FAB tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS), and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) were used to determine the composition of the resinous material recovered from the wrappings of an Egyptian mummy believed to be from the Roman period (100–350 A.D.). FAB/MS and MS/MS studies identified several oxidation products of abietic acid as the principal resin components, indicating that one or more species of coniferous trees were used by the Egyptians as a source of the resin. GC/MS studies also identified several n-alkanes with carbon numbers from C19 to C33 in the sample. The relative amounts of these n-alkanes, along with characteristic trace metals, indicate that bitumen, an asphalt native to the region, was added to the resin. The presence of this ancient source of carbon in this sample explains the inconsistent date assigned to the mummy by carbon-14 analysis.  相似文献

Electron ionization (EI), chemical ionization (CI) and fast-atom bombardment (FAB) mass spectra of the marine toxin okadaic acid and its synthetic methyl, pentafluorobenzyl, and trimethylsilyl ester and ether derivatives were generated. Several ionization conditions and ion-processing methods were used to obtain positive- and negative-ion conventional spectra and tandem (MS/MS) spectra. The EI and the positive-ion CI spectra provided fragment ions characteristic of the structure, and the negative-ion CI and FAB spectra provided molecular ions. The addition of alkali salts to the FAB matrix resulted in reduced fragmentation and the formation of intense alkali-metal-cationized molecules. Pentafluorobenzyl ester derivatives provided intense carboxylate ions under electron-capture ionization. Analytically useful MS/MS spectra were obtained by low-energy collision-induced decomposition of the carboxylate anion produced from the tetrasilylated pentafluorobenzylokadaate.  相似文献

Electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI‐MS) is a useful technique for solving organometallic and coordination chemistry characterization problems that are difficult to address using traditional methods. However, assigning the ESI mass spectra of such compounds can be challenging, and the considerations involved in doing so are quite different from assigning the mass spectra of purely organic samples. This is a tutorial article for organometallic/coordination chemists using ESI‐MS to analyze pure compounds or reaction mixtures. The fundamentals of assigning ESI mass spectra are discussed within the context of organometallic and coordination systems. The types of ions commonly observed by ESI‐MS are categorized and described. Finally, a step‐by‐step guide for the assignment of organometallic and coordination chemistry ESI mass spectra is provided along with two case studies.  相似文献

Galbeta1-4GlcNAc-6,6'-disulfate and 2'-epimer corresponding to Galbeta1- 4ManNAc-6,6'-disulfate were distinguished by mass spectrometry by utilizing fast atom bombardment (FAB), electrospray ionization (ESI) and matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) methods. As for the steric information, negative-ion ESI mass spectrometry/mass spectrometry (MS/MS) provides the most extensive data, but FAB MS/MS also reveals detailed structural information of interest in our case, where MALDI MS is not yet fully equipped with post-source decay.  相似文献

The products of the reaction between fullerenes (C60/C70) and dimethylamine were investigated by fast atom bombardment (FAB) mass spectrometry and tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS). The FAB mass spectrum shows peaks corresponding to the addition of up to eight dimethylamine species, exclusively to C70. MS/MS reveals an unusual fragmentation pattern. The mass spectrum of the reaction products, together with a number of tandem mass spectra, are shown.  相似文献

Water samples from Llobregat river entering two water work plants, Barcelona tap water and waste dumping samples taken along the river course were analyzed for trace organic contaminants by different procedures, liquid-liquid extraction, adsorption on granular activated carbon followed by GC/MS/DS. Ether insoluble organic fractions were analyzed and fractionated by HPLC with diode-array detection, followed by FAB and FAB-CID-MIKE characterisation. Results, after two years monitoring, proved that surfactants, plasticizers, ethyleneglycol derivatives, phosphates, hydrocarbons and other miscellaneous compounds can be considered as chronic pollutants of Llobregat river. Some of the identified compounds by GC/MS and FAB mass spectrometry have not been previously reported to occur in water.  相似文献

Five new monoacylglycerols (MAGs) were isolated from the marine sponge Stelletta sp. by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography and analyzed by positive ion fast atom bombardment mass spectrometry (FAB-MS). FAB mass spectra of these compounds produced abundant sodium-adducted molecules [M+Na]+ from a mixture of 3-nitrobenzyl alcohol and sodium iodide. The structural elucidation of these sponge MAGs was carried out by FAB tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS). To find diagnostic ions for the characterization of the MAGs, authentic MAGs were initially analyzed by collision-induced dissociation (CID) MS/MS. The CID MS/MS of [M+Na]+ precursor ions resulted in the formation of numerous characteristic product ions via a series of dissociative processes. The product ions formed by charge-remote fragmentation (CRF) provided important information for the characterization of acyl chains substituted at the glycerol backbone, and product ions at m/z 84, 97, 113 and 139 were diagnostic for the sodiated glycerol backbone. On the basis of these fragmentation patterns, the structures of five MAGs extracted from marine sponge were elucidated. In addition, high-resolution mass measurement was performed to obtain the elemental compositions of the MAGs.  相似文献

A copoly (DL-lactic/glycolic acid) (PLGA), with a weight-average molecular weight of about 8400, has been characterized using fast atom bombardment (FAB)-tandem mass spectrometry in order to determine the sequence. Because of the large molecular size, PLGA was partially hydrolyzed and the terminal hydroxyl groups in the resulting oligomer mixture acetylated as the indicator. The FAB spectrum of this sample showed a complex ion signal pattern containing monomer to octamer. Diagnostic product ions containing useful information for sequence determination were observed in collision-induced dissociation-MS/MS and MS/MS/MS of these oligomer ions. The results of analysis for dimers through pentamers showed that they have random sequences of lactic and glycolic acid, suggesting that the whole structure of PLGA also has a random sequence.  相似文献

Landfill gas, cryotrapped on a loop fashioned from a length of a capillary gas chromatography (GC) column, was examined for volatile organometallic compounds (VOMCs) and for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) by using GC–mass spectrometry (MS). A large number of organic components were present and many were identified, but the only VOMCs present in high enough concentrations to be detected were trimethylstibine and tetramethyltin. The use of inductively coupled plasma (ICP)‐MS as an element‐specific detector allowed the identification of a number of other organometallic species in the landfill gas, including trimethylarsine and trimethylbismuth, and, for the first time, butyltrimethyltin and dibutyldimethyltin. The presence of molybdenum hexacarbonyl was confirmed. Gas from a large‐scale compost heap and from compost incubated in the laboratory contained iodomethane but no common VOMCs (GC–ICP‐MS). 进行了系列三核羧酸配合物 [M3O(O2 CCH3) 6(THF) 3]X (M3=Cr3,X =ClO4;M3=Cr2 V ,CrV2 ,V3,X =M Cl5(M 统计为 2 /3Cr+1 /3V) ,etc)的快原子轰击质谱 (FAB MS)研究 ,在V3和Cr3两个同三核配合物中 ,V配合物易脱RCO ,而Cr配合物更易脱RCO2 。在Cr2 V和CrV2 两个异三核配合物中观察到重组反应 :Cr2 V除 [Cr2 V]还生成含有 [Cr3]重组生成的碎片离子 ,CrV2 除 [CrV2 ]则生成含有 [Cr3],[Cr2 V],[V3]等其它三种重组碎片离子。充实了前文所探讨得重组原因和规律 ,根据重组反应 ,确定了金属离子反应速率顺序为Cr >V。根据所脱落的碎片 ,初步探讨了此类三核羧酸配合物催化羧酸脱羧成酮的机理。  相似文献

Sildenafil and its analogues, which are used as illegal additives in several dietary supplements, were isolated by liquid‐liquid extraction and column chromatography and analyzed by fast‐atom bombardment mass spectrometry (FAB‐MS). Structures of sildenafil and its derivatives were elucidated by FAB‐tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) with exact mass measurement in the positive‐ion mode. To find structurally diagnostic ions for the sildenafil analogues, authentic sildenafil was preferentially analyzed by high‐energy collision‐induced dissociation (CID)‐MS/MS. The CID‐MS/MS spectra of [M+H]+ precursor ions resulted in the formation of numerous characteristic ions via a series of dissociative processes. The product ions formed by CID provided important information on the modification of the piperazine ring, the phenylsulfonyl group and the pyrazolopyrimidine moiety of sildenafil. By interpreting their MS/MS spectra, the chemical structures of sildenafil analogues isolated from dietary supplements could be elucidated and fragmentation patterns were proposed. To clearly identify the sidenafil derivatives in dietary supplements, some of the derivatives such as acetildenafil, homosildenafil and hydroxyhomosildenafil which are not commercially available were synthesized and compared with their MS/MS spectra. Abstract

Underivatized mono- and multisulfated oligosaccharides obtained by the alkalineborohydride treatment of human respiratory mucous glycoproteins were analyzed by positive ion fast atom bombardment mass spectrometry (FAB MS). Employing three unique and structurally homologous groups, the FAB mass spectra of a mono- and a disulfated tri- and tetrasaccharide and a mono-, di- and trisulfated branched hexasaccharide were compared. Each produced mass spectra displaying molecular weight-related and structurally significant fragment ions including fragments differing in mass by multiples of 102 amu reflecting the loss of one or more sulfate esters. From these data, combined with monosaccharide composition, the carbohydrate sequence and number and location of sulfate esters can readily be determined. These findings, with other chemical and enzymatic analyses, make FAB MS a valuable tool applicable to the unambiguous structural elucidation of underivatized reduced, linear and branched, mucous glycoprotein oligosaccharides that vary in degree of sulfation.  相似文献

用负离子化快原子轰击(FAB)和电喷雾电离(ESI)质谱并结合碰撞活化解离(CAD)质谱方法对烷基苯磺酸盐(ABS)进行鉴定。试样在负离子电喷雾电离(ESI)过程中不产生碎片峰,但是在FAB过程中产生许多碎片、比较这些谱图,就可以区别碎片峰和分子离子峰。线性或支化烷基苯磺酸盐的结构与相对含量可以在离子ESI/CAD-MS方法中得到。负离子ESI-MS是快速、有效和可靠的鉴定ABS的方法。  相似文献

通过应用三氟乙酸酯法和Koenigs-Knorr方法,对Microcellobospotia grisea中具有强抗肿瘤活性多糖重复单元中心二糖片断进行了合成研究,并经元素分析,IR,~1H,~(13)C-NMR,~1H~~1H COSY及FAB-MS确证了合成得到的二糖片断10~13的结构。  相似文献
