Photochromic and electrochromic properties of 1′,3′,3′-trimethyl-6-piperidino- and -morpholinospiro[indoline-2′,3-3H-naphtho[2,1-b][1,4]-oxazines]

Electrochromic properties of 1,3,3-trimethyl-6-piperidino- and-morpholinospiro[indoline-2,3-3H-naphtho[2,1-b][1,4]-oxazines] resulting from their ionization and the formation of intermediate products were studied. The characteristic features of the photochromic behavior of these compounds are positive solvatochromism for absorption spectra of a colored form and an increase in the rate constant for thermobleaching with increasing solvent polarity.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. Crystal Structure and Photochromism in Paint of 1,3,3-Trimethyl-6'-dihydro-indolinyl- spiro[2,3'-[3H]-naphtho[2,1-b][1,4]]oxazine

The title compound 2 (C30H27N3O, Mr = 445.55) has been synthesized and its structure was determined by X-ray crystallography method. The crystal is of monoclinic, space group P21/c with a = 17.520(15), b = 8.640(7), c = 15.439(13) , β = 98.642(14)°, V = 2310(3) 3, Dc = 1.281 g/cm3, μ = 0.780 mm-1, F(000) = 944, Z = 4, the final R = 0.0671 and wR = 0.1790 for 1952 observed reflections with I > 2σ(I). X-ray analysis revealed that the interatomic distance of C(20)O(1) is 1.464(4) , longer than that of the normal CO bond (1.41～1.43 ) in the six-membered heterocycle, but this kind of change coincides with other spiro compounds. The six-membered heterocycle containing spiro Csp3O is nonplanar. The UV-vis spectra of the title compound in polymer films showed that it exhibits excellent photochromic property.

Synthesis and photophysical properties of dinaphtho[2,3-b:2′,3′-i]dihydrophenazine derivatives

A dinaphtho[2,3-b:2′,3′-i]dihydrophenazine (DNP) derivative was synthesized by Buchwald-Hartwig cross-coupling, and its electronic spectrum was compared with that of dinaphtho[b,i]dihydrophenazine-5,18-dione (DNP-dione) as an anthraquinone analog. An absorption band of DNP is attributed to extension of π-conjugation over the entire molecule via the N atom. DNP-dione showed a broad absorption band in the range 450–490?nm due to intramolecular charge-transfer interactions. Additionally, the absolute fluorescence quantum yield of DNP was larger than that of DNP-dione. DNP-dione exhibited reversible oxidation peaks and a similar oxidation potential to DNP, since there are very weak electronic interactions between the anthracene and anthraquinone units across the N atoms with the 4-octyloxyphenyl substituent.     

Synthesis of Some New Thieno[2,3-b]pyridines,Pyrimidino[4′,5′:4,5]thieno[2,3-b]-pyridines,and 2,3-Dihydro-1,3,4-thiadiazoles

Thieno[2,3-b]pyridines were synthesized from 6-benzofuran-2-yl-4-phenyl-2-sulfanylpyridine-3-carbonitrile and each of chloro acetone, ethyl chloroacetate, ω -bromoacetophenone, and chloroacetonitrile. These compounds were conveniently converted into novel pyrido[4′,5′:4,5]thieno[3,2-d]pyrimidines. Also, 2,3-dihydro-1,3,4-thiadiazole was synthesized from hydrazonoyl halides and 2-benzofuran-2-yl-3-(phenylamino)-3-thioxopropanenitrile. The structures of the products have been elucidated by elemental analyses, spectral data studies, and alternative syntheses whenever possible. The newly synthesized compounds were tested towards microorganisms.     

Synthesis of spiro[indole-3,3′-[1,3,4]thiadiazino[3,2-a]benzimidazoles] and spiro[indole-3,6′-[1,2,4]triazolo[3,4-b][1,3,4]thiadiazines]

A method for annulation of the tetrahydrothiadiazine ring to benzimidazoles and 1,2,4-tri-azoles was developed. A number of earlier unknown [1,3,4]thiadiazino[3,2-a]benzimidazoles and triazolo[3,4-b][1,3,4]thiadiazines were obtained as spiro compounds with the oxindole fragment. According to NMR and X-ray diffraction data, the formation of the tetrahydrothiadiazine ring is a diastereospecific process.     

Photo- and thermochromic spirans. 35.* Synthesis and photochromic properties of spiro[indoline-2,3′-pyrano[3,2-f]quinolines] and their cationic derivatives

New photochromic spiropyranoquinolines and their cationic derivatives have been synthesized. Quaternization of the quinoline fragment leads to significant enhancement of the thermal stability of the merocyanine isomers of these cationic spiropyrans.     

Thieno[2,3-b]pyridine-2-carbohydrazide in Polyheterocyclic Synthesis: The Synthesis of Pyrido[3′,2′:4,5]thieno[3,2-d]pyrimidine,Pyrido[3′,2′:4,5]thieno[3,2-d][1,2,3]triazine,and Pyrazolyl,Oxadiazolylthieno[2,3-b]pyridine Derivatives

Pyrdine-2(1H)-thione 1 reacted with ethyl chloroacetate 2 to give 2-S-ethoxy-carbonylmethylpyridine derivative 3, which could be cyclized into thieno[2,3-b]-pyridine-2-carbohydrazide derivative 5 by boiling with hydrazine hydrate. The latter compound reacted with cinnamonitrile derivatives 6a, b, triethylorthoformate, formic acid, dimethylformamide-dimethylacetal, and diethyl carbonate to give the corresponding shiff base 7a, b and pyrido[3′,2′;-4,5]thieno[3,2-d]pyrimidine derivatives 10–13 in respective manner. On the other hand, compound 5 also reacted with carbondisulphide and phenyl isothiocyanate to afford the corresponding 2-(1,3,4-oxadiazolo-2-yl)thieno[2,3-b]pyridine derivatives 18 and 22. Finally, compound 5 reacted with some β-dicarbonyl compounds, such as ethyl acetoacetate, acetylacetone and ethyl β-arylazoacetoacetate, to yield the corresponding 2-(pyrazol-1-yl-carbonyl)thieno[2,3-b]pyridine derivatives 24, 25, and 27 respectively.

Synthesis of benzothieno[2,3-b]thiophenes, [2,3-b:3′,2′-d]-dithienothiophenes and their selenium derivatives via electrophilic cyclization and McMurry cyclization

Benzothieno[2,3-b]thiophenes, [2,3-b:3′,2′-d]-dithienothiophenes, and their selenium derivatives were synthesized in good yields from readily available 3-ethynyllithio-benzo[b]thiophenyllithio compounds, sulfur or selenium, and 2 equiv of acid chlorides. Two heteroarene rings were constructed by a twofold cyclization via an acid chloride-induced electrophilic ring closing and the McMurry cyclization using Zn/TiCl₄ reagents.     

Structure and properties of 3,6′-dimethyl-2,3-dihydrospiro-[naphtho[1,3]oxazine-2,2′-[2<Emphasis Type="Italic">H</Emphasis>]-chromen]-4-ones

New spiropyrans of the naphthoxazinone series containing structurally different hetarene moieties were synthesized. The structures of all resulting compounds were preliminary investigated by IR and ¹H NMR spectroscopy. The structures of some of the newly synthesized spiropyrans were completely characterized by X-ray diffraction. An analysis of the structures and photochromic properties of the spiropyrans led to the conclusion about the influence of the aldehyde group on the photochromic characteristics of spiropyrans.     

One-pot three component isocyanide-based reaction: Synthesis of novel tetracyclic fused furo[2′,3′:4,5]pyrimido[2,1-b][1,3]benzothiazole

A rapid, efficient and benign protocol has been developed for the construction of potentially biologically active furo[2′,3′:4,5]pyrimido[2,1-b][1,3]benzothiazole derivatives as major products along with (3E)-3-[(alkylamino)methylene]-2H-pyrimido[2,1-b][1,3]benzothiazole-2,4(3H)-dione derivatives as minor products using a one-pot, multi-component reaction of isocyanides, aromatic aldehydes and 2-hydroxy-4H-pyrimido[2,1-b][1,3]benzothiazol-4-one. The significant features of this protocol are the readily available and low-cost starting materials, short reaction time, mild reaction conditions, high yield of products and avoidance of toxic solvents and catalysts. Structures of compounds 4b and 5a were confirmed from single crystal X-ray studies.     

Synthesis of (1H)-3,4-Dihydropyrrolo[2,1-c][1,4]oxazin-1-one Derivatives

It has been found that some acyl derivatives of 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-1-indolizin-1-one 1and (1H)-3,4-dihydropyrrolo[1,2-a]pyrazin-1-one 2 show remarkable anti-inflammatory and analgesic activities1,2. The interest in extending the study of structure-activity relationships and search of new potent anti-inflammatory and analgesic agents led us to design and synthesize (1H)-3,4-dihydropyrrolo[2,1-c][1,4]oxazin-1-one 3 derivatives. Efficient Green Approach for the Synthesis of Spiro[indoline-3,4′-pyrazolo[3,4-b]quinoline]diones Using [NMP]H2PO4 and Solvatochromic and pH Studies

A mild and efficient protocol for the synthesis of spiro[indoline-3,4′-pyrazolo[3,4-b]quinoline]diones via a one-pot, three-component condensation of isatins, 1,3-dicarbonyls, and 5-amino-1-phenyl-3-methylpyrazole using [NMP]H₂PO₄ as a catalyst in EtOH/H₂O is described. The catalyst could be recycled and reused four times without significant loss of activity. Spiro[indoline-3,4′-pyrazolo[3,4-b]quinoline]diones with stabilized zwitter ionic resonance structures showed feasible application as new fluorescent probes and pH indicators. These chemosensors have a good wavelength shift and showed excellent sensitivity in the range of pH from 11 to 13.     

Pyridazines,LIV: On the synthesis of pyridazine-fused S-heterocycles: Thieno[2,3-c]pyridazine,pyrimido[4′,5′:4,5]thieno[2,3-c]pyridazine,and pyridazino[3,4-b][1,4]benzothiazine

Summary Starting from 3-chloro-4-pyridazinecarbonitrile (1), the thienopyridazine derivatives2 and3 were prepared. Condensation of3 with triethyl orthoformate afforded the novel tricyclic system4. Reaction of1 with 2-aminothiophenol, followed by treatment with NaH/DMSO was found to give the diaza-phenothiazine6 instead of the expected condensed thiazepine.Dedicated with best wishes to Prof. Dr. G. New π-conjugated thieno[3,2-b]indole derivatives and charge carrier mobility in their thin films

New push-pull chromophores based on thieno[3,2-b]indole were synthesized. The energy levels of the outer molecular orbitals and the mobility of electrons and holes in thin films prepared from solutions of these compounds were determined experimentally.
