A current confinement model for glue-balls is proposed to maintain complete similarity with relativistic harmonic oscillator model (rhm) with Lorentz scalar and vector potentials for quarks. The spurious motion of the centre of confinement is accounted for in these models in exactly the same manner. We shall review some of the successes of therhm in hardronic masses, magnetic moments of baryons, nucleonic sizes and polarisability and proton-antiproton annihilation, as well as the recent results on glue-balls.  相似文献

Recent developments in lattice gauge theory are discussed from a statistical mechanics viewpoint. The basic physics problems of quantum chromodynamics (QCD) are reviewed for an audience of critical phenomena theorists. The idea of local gauge symmetry and color, the connection between statistical mechanics and field theory, asymptotic freedom and the continuum limit of lattice gauge theories, and the order parameters (confinement and chiral symmetry) of QCD are reviewed. Then recent developments in the field are discussed. These include the proof of confinement in the lattice theory, numerical evidence for confinement in the continuum limit of lattice gauge theory, and perturbative improvement programs for lattice actions. Next, we turn to the new challenges facing the subject. These include the need for a better understanding of the lattice Dirac equation and recent progress in the development of numerical methods for fermions (the pseudofermion stochastic algorithm and the microcanonical, molecular dynamics equation of motion approach). Finally, some of the applications of lattice gauge theory to QCD spectrum calculations and the thermodynamics of. QCD will be discussed and a few remarks concerning future directions of the field will be made.Supported in part by the NSF under grant No. PHY82-01948  相似文献

In this paper we try to understand several phenomenological issues related to the mass spectra of P-states quarkonia in a relativistic quark model. We give particular emphasis on understanding the most recent experimental data within a relativized scalar-vector confining potential. In this paper we extend the previous works on the studies of quark confinement in non-relativistic QCD, using a formalism which uses a covariant Hamiltonian in the centre of mass frame. The spin-structure of the potential is obtained from the reduction of Bethe-Salpeter equation into Breit-interaction. The properties of strangelets at zero temperature with a new quark model that includes both the confinement and one-gluonexchange interactions is studied in a fully self-consistent method.The charge and parameter dependence of the stability of strangelets are discussed.It is found that the one-gluon-exchange interaction lowers the energy of a strangelet,and consequently allows the strangelet to be absolutely stable.The stable strangelet radius in the present model is smaller in comparison with the absence of one-gluon-exchange interaction,and can thus be much less than that of a normal nucleus with the same baryon number,according to the strength of the confinement and one-gluon-exchange interactions.  相似文献

The effective dynamics of quarks is described by a nonperturbatively regularized NJL model equation with canonical quantization and probability interpretation. The quantum theory of this model is formulated in functional space and the gluons are considered as relativistic bound states of colored quark-antiquark pairs. Their wave functions are calculated as eigenstates of hardcore equations, and their effective dynamics is derived by weak mapping in functional space. This leads to the phenomenological SU(3) gauge invariant gluon equations in functional formulation, i.e., the local gauge symmetry is a dynamical effect resulting from the dynamics of the quark model.  相似文献

The general characteristics of the transition from hadronic matter of nucleons, three quark bags, mesons of quark antiquark pairs to quark gluon plasma is discussed. The phenomenological approach essentially guided by the MIT bag model and general thermodynamic criteria of first-order phase transition is elaborated. The more realistic calculations using the QCD lattice renormalization quark are touched upon. Possible signals of quark-gluon plasma are discussed. The central issue of deciphering plasma signals from the signals of hot hadronic matter is discussed in detail. The signals of the quark-gluon plasma, a subject of considerable interest in contemporary literature are focussed only on (i) dileptons (ii) photon photon pairs and (iii)J/Ψ suppression (with special emphasis on CERN experiments). The lingering shadow of “EMC” effect is also mentioned. Relics of the very early universe microseconds after the big bang in today’s universe (∼ 15 billion years later) are discussed. Finally, the outlook of this very exciting field is presented, a purely personal viewpoint, generalized eventually to poetic signals of the creation of the universe.  相似文献

From the overlap lattice quark propagator calculated in the Landau gauge,we determine the quark chiral condensate by fitting operator product expansion formulas to the lattice data.The quark propagators are computed on domain wall fermion configurations generated by the RBC-UKQCD Collaborations with N_f = 2 + 1flavors.Three ensembles with different light sea quark masses are used at one lattice spacing 1/a = 1.75(4) Ge V.We obtain ψψ (2 GeV)MS =(-304(15)(20) MeV)~3in the SU(2) chiral limit.  相似文献

For a large class of phenomenological potential models motivated by quantum chromodynamics, we have studied the behaviour of bound state masses as the constituent mass is increased and found that the mass of a quark-antiquark bound state increases when a constituent mass is increased. We propose a better differential method for the computation of the equation of state of QCD from lattice simulations. In contrast to the earlier differential method, our technique yields positive pressure for all temperatures including the temperatures in the transition region. Employing it on temporal lattices of 8, 10 and 12 sites and by extrapolating to zero lattice spacing we obtained the pressure, energy density, entropy density, specific heat and speed of sound in quenched QCD for 0.9 ≤ T/T c ≤ 3. At high temperatures comparisons of our results are made with those from the dimensional reduction approach and also with those from a conformal symmetric theory.   相似文献

By performing density functional theory calculations, we studied the quantum confinement in charged graphene quantum dots (GQDs), which is found to be clearly edge and shape dependent. It is found that the excess charges have a large distribution at the edges of the GQD. The resulting energy spectrum shift is very nonuniform and hence the Coulomb diamonds in the charge stability diagram vary irregularly, in good agreement with the observed nonperiodic Coulomb blockade oscillation. We also illustrate that the level statistics of the GQDs can be described by a Gaussian distribution, as predicted for chaotic Dirac billiards.

The electromagnetic mass splittings of heavier hadrons are estimated in the framework of gauge theory model where ligher quarks are taken to behave relativistically and the spatial wave functions are described by the spin-spin interaction affected relative distances between quarks. The predictions for (Ξ0), (Σ*0−Σ*+), (Ξ*−*0), (D c +D c 0) and (D c *+D c *0 ) are in fair agreement with the experimental data available whereas those for (D b D b 0 ) and (D b *−D b *0 ) are in qualitative agreement with other theoretical estimates.  相似文献
