We study the continuity and strict positive definiteness of positive definite functions on quasi-metric spaces given by integral transforms. We apply some of our findings to positive definite functions on the Euclidean space Rm which are given by cosine transforms (m=1) and Fourier–Bessel transforms (m>1). We also apply the results to positive definite functions on a general quasi-metric space realized as extensions of certain real Laplace transforms defined by conditionally negative definite functions on the quasi-metric space itself.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the problem of scattered data interpolation for multivariate functions. In order to solve this problem, linear combinations of products of positive definite kernel functions are used. The theory of reproducing kernels is applied. In particular, it follows from this theory that the interpolating functions are solutions of some varational problems.  相似文献

Summary The main aim of the paper is to prove still another version of the Lévy--Khintchine decomposition of conditionally positive definite functions on a general locally compact Abelian group. A new matrix decomposition of the form A = UTU + UTR + RTU is proposed and investigated, where U is an upper triangular matrix (an approximation to the exact Cholesky factor U0), and R is a strictly upper triangular error matrix (with small elements and the fill-in limited by that of U0). For an arbitrary symmetric positive matrix A such a decomposition always exists and can be efficiently constructed; however it is not unique, and is determined by the choice of an involved truncation rule. An analysis of both spectral and K-condition numbers is given for the preconditioned matrix M = U−T AU−1 and a comparison is made with the RIC preconditioning proposed by Ajiz and Jennings. A concept of approximation order of an incomplete factorization is introduced and it is shown that RIC is the first order method, whereas the proposed method is of second order. The idea underlying the proposed method is also applicable to the analysis of CGNE-type methods for general non-singular matrices and approximate LU factorizations of non-symmetric positive definite matrices. Practical use of the preconditioning techniques developed is discussed and illustrated by an extensive set of numerical examples. Copyright © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The existence of a separable Hilbert space , a weakly measurable B( )-valued function Q satisfying the relation Q*(ω)Q(ω) = f(ω) is proved. This result is used to define the Hilbert space L2,f of square integrable operator-valued functions with respect to f. It is shown that for B+( *)-valued measures, the concepts of weak*, weak, and strong countable additivity are all the same. Connections with stochastic processes are explained.  相似文献

The main theme of this paper is the discussion of a parametrized family of solutions of a finite moment problem for rational matrix‐valued functions in the nondegenerate case. We will show that each member of this family is extremal in several directions concerning some point of the open unit disk. These investigations are inspired by the authors' paper [23], where a similar topic is studied in the context of the matricial Carathéodory problem. Classes of ultradifferentiable functions are classically defined by imposing growth conditions on the derivatives of the functions. Following this approach we consider a Fréchet-Schwartz space of infinitely differentiable functions on a closure of a bounded convex domain of multidimensional real space with uniform bounds on their partial derivatives. Our aim is to obtain Paley-Wiener-Schwartz type theorem connecting properties of linear continuous functionals on this space with the behaviour of their Fourier-Laplace transforms. Very similar problems were considered by M. Neymark, B.A. Taylor, M. Langenbruch, A.V. Abanin.  相似文献

We construct an example of a nonseparable Banach space which does not admit a support set.2 It is a consistent (and necessarily independent from the axioms of ZFC) example of a space C(K) of continuous functions on a compact Hausdorff K with the supremum norm. The construction depends on a construction of a Boolean algebra with some combinatorial properties. The space is also hereditarily Lindelöf in the weak topology but it doesn't have any nonseparable subspace nor any nonseparable quotient which is a C(K) space for K dispersed.  相似文献
