We rigorously derive a linear kinetic equation of Fokker–Planck type for a 2-D Lorentz gas in which the obstacles are randomly distributed. Each obstacle of the Lorentz gas generates a potential V( ), where V is a smooth radially symmetric function with compact support, and >0. The density of obstacles diverges as , where >0. We prove that when 0< <1/8 and =2+1, the probability density of a test particle converges as 0 to a solution of our kinetic equation.  相似文献

The Riemann walk is the lattice version of the Lévy flight. For the one-dimensional Riemann walk of Lévy exponent 0<<2 we study the statistics of the support, i.e., set of visited sites, after t steps. We consider a wide class of support related observables M(t), including the number S(t) of visited sites and the number I(t) of sequences of adjacent visited sites. For t we obtain the asymptotic power laws for the averages, variances, and correlations of these observables. Logarithmic correction factors appear for =2/3 and =1. Bulk and surface observables have different power laws for 1<2. Fluctuations are shown to be universal for 2/3 <2. This means that in the limit t the deviations from average M(t)M(t)–M-0304;(t-0304;) are fully described either by a single M independent stochastic process (when 2/3 <1) or by two such processes, one for the bulk and one for the surface observables (when 1<<2).  相似文献

In a Riemannian space-time, the difference between the third-order tensor potentialH of the Riemann tensor (presented in a precedent paper) and the Lanczos generating function of the Weyl tensor is here shown to be characterized by a vectorV , obtained by contractionH . The significant role of such a vector, in the context of general relativity, is then discussed. Particular attention is paid to the scalar potential which characterizes the irrotational part ofV : such a scalar field satisfies a space-time wave equation of the Poisson type. Weak fields are also considered: in the particular case of a static metric, the scalar is found to be proportional to the classic Newtonian potential.This work was done in the sphere of activity of the C.N.R. For automorphism groups of operator algebras we show how properties of the difference t – ' t are reflected in relations between the generators , . A class of the asymptotically Euclidian space-times is shown to exist for which the Schwarzschild mass is equal to zero. The coordinate atlases of these space-times satisfy two additional conditions: k (-gg 0k )=0 and ik 0 0g ik - ik k 0g 0i =0. A study was made of the influence of the relative humidity (from 0.5–90%) on the surface conductivity of bothp- andn-type germanium having differing resistivity. It was. found that the range of changes in the surface potential did not depend on the volume properties of germanium. An analysis of the experimental results shows that the surface potential has values approximately in the range from s =–3kT/q to s =+5kT/q for a change in humidity from 0.5 to 90%. Assuming that the Fermi level changes on the outer side of the oxide layer by approximately the same value as on the germaniumgermanium oxide boundary as a result of the increase and decrease of slow states, it follows that the levels of the slow centres are considerably distant from the Fermi level during the whole humidity range. It is also shown that on the first monomolecular layer of adsorbed water there is an increment of (7.5±0.8) x 1010 donor levels per cm2. This increase in levels either decreases with the number of adsorbed monomolecular layers of water and for 90% humidity has approximately the value 2×1010 cm–2 or remains almost unchanged with the number of layers, if it is assumed that for s =6.0kT/q the Fermi level passes through the centres of adsorbed water.

The above problem is met, for example, in the case of the collision of molecules of the atmosphere with an artificial earth satellite and leads to the problem of determining the probability distribution of the absolute value of the vector sum of a constant vector and a Maxwell vector (the latter being a vector, whose rectangular components are distributed normally, with the same standard deviation and mean value zero). The resultant probability density is given by equation (18), the complement to the distribution function by (24), the mean value by (27) and the variance by (31). These results are obtained by transforming the corresponding three-dimensional normal distribution to spherical co-ordinates and integrating over the co-ordinate angles and , which yields the required probability density; the other results are then obtained from it by the usual methods.

Continuing the discussion in [1], the renormalization of the fine-structure constant in the high-energy range, where a logarithmic increase in the constant is observed, is considered. It is shown that within the framework of the quantum electrodynamics of bilocal fields, when the energy increases the logarithmic "form" ln2 of the constant changes into a power drop 1/2. Regarding the universe as an open thermodynamicsystem, the creation of matter/radiation particles outof gravitational energy is investigated. A new class ofFRW models with creation of matter is obtained and their properties are examined. A suitablechoice of the particle number density function n(t) =(A/t)3/2 leads toinflationary solutions during the particle creationphase; subsequently the universe enters the Friedmann era. A heuristic model for deriving the anomalous magnetic moment of the electron is presented. A term /2 – 0.327(/)2 is deduced, in better agreement with experiment than is the QED derivation of /2 – 0.328(/)2. Let us consider a Lie (super)algebra G spanned by T where T are quantum observables in BV formalism. It is proved that for every tensor c... that determines a homology class of the Lie algebra G the expression c...T...T is again a quantum observable. This theorem is used to construct quantum observables in the BV sigma model. Die Bewegung der Exzitonen im Felde der Vakanz und des F-Zentrums wird in adiabatischer Annäherung untersucht. Mit Hilfe der klassischen Methoden werden die Wirkungsquerschnitte des Anhaftens des Exzitons an den Vakanzen und F-Zentren bestimmt und diskutiert.

A theory of the azimuthal bunching of electrons injected into the betatron is presented and compared with the experiments described in [1]. The bunching is treated as a small perturbation of the stationary beam.The stationary injected beam is replaced by the corresponding equilibrium beam of the same perveance so that the angular velocity spread of the injected electrons is proportional to the square root of the injection perveance.Self-consistent wave solutions for the perturbation of the stationary solution are then found. Equations giving the amplification of small density or energy disturbances along the beam are derived. These disturbances are assumed to be introduced by density or velocity modulation of the injected beam. The condition for the spontaneous occurrence of bunching is deduced by assuming that the disturbances do not vanish even when there is no modulation of the injected beam. The resulting expressions for the threshold perveance and the rise-time of the disturbance are in reasonably good agreement with the experiments. Such agreement may be considered as further verification of the statement made in [1] that the amplification of the disturbances is caused by the negative mass instability mechanism.

A new method is proposed for calculating the energy in certain special points of the Brillouin zone. The wave functions of valence and conduction electrons are given in the form of the linear combination of plane waves and the orthogonality condition of these functions to the wave functions of lower states is replaced by the repulsive potential. The practical application of this very simple method is illustrated on the energy spectrum of silicon in the centre of the Brillouin zone. It is proved that the results are comparable with some other methods, e. g. the orthogonalized plane-wave method.

We consider lattice classical ferromagnetic spin systems at high temperature (1) with nearest neighbor interactions and even single-spin distributions (ssd). Associated with each system is an imaginary time lattice quantum field theory. It is known that there is a particle of mass m–ln in the energy-momentum spectrum. If s 4–3s 22<0, where s k is the kth moment of the ssd, and is sufficiently small, we show that in the two-particle subspace there is no mass spectrum up to 2m. For >0 we show that the only mass spectrum in (m, 2m) is a bound state of mass m b=2m+ln(1–)+O(), where =(+2s 22)–1. A bound on the decay of the kernel of a Bethe–Salpeter equation is obtained and used to prove these results.  相似文献

Divergence of high moments and dimension of the carrier is the subtitle of Mandelbrot's 1974 seed paper on random multifractals. The key words divergence and dimension met very different fates. Dimension expanded into a multifractal formalism based on an exponent and a function f(). An excellent exposition in Halsey et al. 1986 helped this formalism flourish. But it does not allow divergent high moments and the related inequalities f()<0 and <0. As a result, those possibilities did not flourish. Now their time has come for diverse reasons. The broad 1974 definitions of and f allow <0 and f()<0, but the original presentation demanded to be both developed and simplified. This paper shows that both multifractal anomalies occur in a very simple example, which has been crafted for this purpose. This example predicts the power law distribution. It generalizes and f() beyond their usual roles of being a Hölder exponent and a Hausdorff dimension. The effect is to allow either f or both f and to be negative, and the apparent anomalies are made into sources of new important information. In addition, this paper substantially clarifies the subtle way in which randomness manifests itself in multifractals.  相似文献
