An analytical expression for the magnitude of the “response” of surface acoustic waves (SAWs) to gases is obtained. It is tested experimentally. The main features of the detection of gases by means of SAWs are predicted theoretically and confirmed experimentally. The SAWs in coated and uncoated gas sensors are compared. A technique for using SAWs to determine the relative changes in the density (Δρ/ρ) and the elastic moduli (ΔC 11/C 11 and ΔC 44/C 44) of films upon the adsorption (desorption) of gases is proposed. The possibility of using this technique to analyze adsorption and desorption processes is demonstrated. The adsorption properties of polycrystalline, thermally deposited palladium films before and after low-temperature vacuum annealing, as well as unannealed Pd and Pd:Ni films, are compared. The spectral distribution of the uv-induced photoconductivity intensity and relaxation in Bi12SiO20 and Bi12GeO20 crystals both undoped and doped with Al, Ga, Cr, Cu, Mn, and V is investigated in the optical range 0.5–3.5 eV in the temperature ranges 85–95 K and 285–295 K. It is shown that in the short-wavelength region 2.2–3.5 eV it is controlled by multicenter recombination in which both “fast” and “slow” recombination participate. Fiz. Tverd. Magnetization measurements were performed on a lanthanum manganite La0.9Sr0.1MnO3 single crystal in the temperature interval 4.2–300 K and magnetic field interval 50 Oe-55 kOe in two sample cooling regimes: 1) cooling down to 4.2 K in a high (55 kOe) magnetic field, and 2) cooling in a “zero” field. It is shown that the temperature dependences of the magnetization M(T) are substantially different in these regimes. Pronounced anomalies of M(T) were observed at temperatures T*=103 K and T c =145 K. The first anomaly is attributed to a structural transition, while the second one corresponds to a ferromagnet-paramagnet phase transition. This paper reviews and compares the use of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and related hyperfine techniques [muon spin rotation (μSR) and, to a lesser extent, other methods] in the study of 4f and 5f magnetism in “unstable magnets”, i.e., intermediate-valent and heavy-fermion materials. In both NMR and μSR the features of interest are the spectral shape, the frequency shiftK (Knight shift in metals) and the spin-lattice relaxation rate 1/T 1. For temperatures below the characteristic or “Kondo” temperatureT 0 these experiments given evidence for (1) modification of the transferred hyperfine field [nonlinearK(χ)]. (2) spin fluctuations with a characteristic fluctuation rate ∼k B T 0/h, (3) strong energy-gap anisotropy (zeros of the gap along lines on the Fermi surface) in heavy-fermion superconductors, (4) spin-singlet Cooper pairing from the change in muon Knight shift in superconducting UBe13, and (5) very weak static magnetism (10−1–10−3 μB/f atom) in CeAl3, CeCu2Si2, U1−x Th x Be13 (x=0.033), and UPt3. The results of an experimental study on a spatial-time behavior of microdischarges (MDs) in steady-state dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) are presented. MDs of DBD have a spatial “memory”, i.e. every subsequent MD appears exactly at the same place that was occupied by the preceding MD. In most cases each MD appears at its fixed place only once by every half-period (HP). Spatial “memory” is derived from slow recombination of plasma in the MDs channels for a period between two neighbor HPs. In steady-state DBD each plasma column was formed only one-time due to local avalanche-streamer breakdown in the very first (initial) gas gap breakdown under inception voltage U*U^*. After that DBD is sustained under voltage lower than U*U^*. For the plane-to-plane DBD having the restricted electrode area there is a critical voltage U 1: DBD is in a steady-state if U > U 1 but the DBD decays slowly at voltages below U 1. The decay takes many HPs and occurs due to decreasing the number of MDs inside the gap because of their Brownian motion from central region to the outside of the discharge area. In steady-state DBD there is no correlation between an appearance of alone MD and phase of the applied voltage – each MD has a great scatter in its appearance at the HP. This scatter is attributed to the dispersion in a threshold voltage for local surface breakdowns around the MD base. So, in steady-state DBD the MD volume plasma is responsible for an existence of spatial “memory” (i.e. where the MD appears) but the surface charge distribution around MD is responsible for MD time dispersion (i.e. when the MD appears).  相似文献

The specific heat of the ceramic and the permittivity of a single-crystal sample of LaBSiO5, a new ferroelectric in the stilwellite family, were measured in a temperature range which includes the phase transition point (T C=140 °C). The excess entropy of the phase transition ΔS=1.05 J/mol · K and the Curie-Weiss constant C C-W=3.2×103 K were determined. The results indicate that the phase transition in this crystal is of a “mixed” nature and exhibits features of a displacement-type transition and an order-disorder transition. Fiz. Tverd. Anomalies of the dielectric properties of undoped and aluminum-and gallium-doped crystals of Bi12SiO20 are investigated in the frequency and temperature range ν=102–108 Hz and T=300–800 K. The phase transition “triangular lattice-vortex liquid” in layered high-T c superconductors in the presence of pinning centers is studied. A two-dimensional system of vortices simulating the superconducting layers in a high-T c Shubnikov phase is calculated by the Monte Carlo method. It was found that in the presence of defects the melting of the vortex lattice proceeds in two stages: First, the ideal triangular lattice transforms at low temperature (≃3 K)into islands which are pinned to the pinning centers and rotate around them and then, at a higher temperature (≃8 K for T c 584 K), the boundaries of the “islands” become smeared and the system transforms into a vortex liquid. As the pinning force increases, the temperatures of both phase transitions shift: The temperature of the point “triangular lattice-rotating lattice” decreases slightly (to ≃2 K)and the temperature of the phase transition “rotating lattice-vortex liquid” increases substantially (≃70 K). Measurement of the heat conductivity and electrical resistivity of two Sm1−x GdxS compositions with x=0.1 and 0.14 is reported within the 80–300 K interval. An analysis of experimental data on the electronic component of heat conductivity permits a conclusion that the d subband of “heavy” carriers in the conduction band of these materials lies above the s “light”-carrier subband. We present a doubleU h(gl(n, ℂ))-equivariant quantization on semisimple coadjoint orbits of the group GL(n, ℂ) as a quotient of the extended reflection equation algebra by relations which are given explicitly. Such a quantization is a two-parameter family including an explicit GL(n)-equivariant quantization of the Kirillov-Kostant-Souriau Poisson bracket. We analyse, within the “flavoured” leptogenesis scenario of baryon asymmetry generation, the interplay of “low energy” CP-violation, originating from the PMNS neutrino mixing matrix U, and “high energy” CP-violation, which can be present in the matrix of neutrino Yukawa couplings, λ, and can manifest itself only in “high” energy scale processes. The type I see-saw model with three heavy right-handed Majorana neutrinos having a hierarchical spectrum is considered. The “orthogonal” parameterisation of the matrix of neutrino Yukawa couplings, which involves a complex orthogonal matrix R, is employed. In this approach the matrix R is the source of “high energy” CP-violation. Results for normal hierarchical (NH) and inverted hierarchical (IH) light neutrino mass spectrum are derived in the case of decoupling of the heaviest right-handed Majorana neutrino. It is shown that taking into account the contribution to Y B due to the CP-violating phases in the neutrino mixing matrix U can change drastically the predictions for Y B , obtained assuming that only “high energy” CP-violation from the R-matrix is operative in leptogenesis. In the case of the IH spectrum, in particular, there exist significant regions in the corresponding parameter space where the purely “high energy” contribution in Y B plays a subdominant role in the production of baryon asymmetry compatible with the observations. We study the energy spectrum of Bi2223 (Bi1.6Pb0.4Sr1.8Ca2.2Cu3Ox) at high hydrostatic pressures by Andreev-and tunneling-spectroscopy methods. We determine the gap anisotropy in the basal ab plane and find the following values for the parameters Δ(ϕ): Δmax=42 mV, and Δmin=19.5 mV (T c =110 K and dT c /dP=0.16 K/kbar). We detect an increase in the ratio R=2Δmax/kT c with pressure P; for Bi2223 cuprate, dR/dP≈0.017 kbar−1. In the phonon-frequency region we detect a “softening,” due to pressure, of the high-frequency part of the phonon spectrum corresponding to “breathing” modes of oxygen, as well as other optical modes of Cu-O. The characteristic frequencies of the spectrum for ℏΩ>60 mV are found to decrease, with increasing pressure, at a rate d ln(ℏΩ)/dP≈−6.5±0.5×10−3 kbar−1. The values of the insulator gap Δ in one-dimensional systems of interacting bosons described by the Hubbard Hamiltonian are calculated at low temperatures by the quantum world-line Monte Carlo algorithm. The dependence of Δ on the size of the system, the temperature, and the parameters of the model is investigated. It is shown that a chain with N a=50 sites is already sufficient to estimate the thermodynamic value of the critical quantity (t/U)c for which a transition from the insulator into the superfluid state occurs in a commensurate system. To within the computational error, this value, (t/U)c=0.300±0.005, agrees with the value (t/U)c=0.304±0.002 obtained previously by the combined “exact diagonalization + renormalization-group analysis” method. The characteristic Kosterlitz-Thouless behavior of the insulator gap is demonstrated near the critical region: Δ∼exp[−b(1−t/t c)−1/2]. Pis’ma Zh. éksp. Teor. The magnetic properties of Eu1−x CaxMnO3 have been investigated. As the calcium content increased up to x=0.2, the magnetization and the blocking temperature of the magnetic moments of clusters increased and the magnetic anisotropy decreased. As the calcium content increased further, the magnetization decreased, while the “freezing” temperature of the magnetic moments increased. Anomalies of the magnetic properties were observed in compositions with x=0.4 and 0.5 at T=40 K; these anomalies are attributed to a transition to the antiferromagnetic state in the charge-ordered phase. The β-functions of O(N) and U(N) invariant Grosse–Wulkenhaar models are computed at one loop using the matrix basis. In particular, for “parallel interactions”, the model is proved to be asymptotically free in the UV limit for N>1, and it has a triviality problem or Landau ghost for N<1. The vanishing β-function is recovered solely at N=1. We discuss various possible consequences of these results. It is shown that two-dimensional (2-D) T 1T 2 relaxation spectra are sensitive to the changing microstructure in a model food system comprising water-in-water gelatin–agarose gelled emulsions. This 2-D relaxation–microstructure relationship suggests that T 1T 2 spectra have the potential of acting as “fingerprint” molecular biomarkers of microstructure in complex water-rich biological systems and this has important future implications for in vivo magnetic resonance imaging studies of food digestion and of the changing structure of cancerous tissue.  相似文献

Results of spectroscopic investigations into plasma of a pulse-periodic strontium vapor laser operating in the superradiance mode on the infrared transition at λ = 6.45 μm are presented. The method of determining the electron temperature and concentration as well as the gas temperature – T e , n e , and T g – based on measuring the absolute intensities of some SrI and SrII and buffer gas (helium or neon) spectral lines is used. Time dependences of the line intensities during a current pulse (τ = 150 ns) and near afterglow (up to 3 μs) are obtained under conditions of non-equilibrium plasma ionization and recombination. The optical system collects radiation from the entire length of the plasma column by means of separating radial volume zones, includingthe central zone and the zone closer to the walls, with the monochromator slit. The results obtained allow us not only to calculate T e , n e , and T g values, but also to trace the spatiotemporal plasma evolution.  相似文献

A vibronic charge-transfer exciton, which is a pair of Jahn-Teller electron and hole polarons, is considered as a possible cause of the appearance of the Müller phase in the virtual ferroelectric SrTiO3 and the “green” luminescence in the virtual ferroelectric KTaO3. The two “green” luminescence bands can be associated with emission from two states of a typical intrinsic defect, viz., a vibronic charge-transfer exciton trapped by an oxygen vacancy and an isolated vibronic charge-transfer exciton. In both cases the “green” luminescence corresponds to the recombination of the electron and the hole in the vibronic charge-transfer exciton, which is accompanied by the emission of light. The properties of the Müller phase can be attributed to mixing of the normal state and states of the vibronic charge-transfer exciton phase when they interact with polarization in the soft SrTiO3 matrix under the conditions of a pseudo-Jahn-Teller (pseudo-JT) effect on a soft TO mode of the displacement type. In this case the vibronic charge-transfer exciton phase forming the low-lying excited states has “order-disorder” degrees of freedom and exists at temperatures significantly below the point of the order-disorder ferroelectric transition in SrTiO3 at T=T Q≈37 K. The corresponding lowering of the symmetry of the vibronic charge-transfer exciton phase to polar symmetry leads to the possibility of a long-period incommensurate phase in such excited states, which arises as a result of the appearance of a Lifshitz invariant. The valence-band state making the largest contribution of the pseudo-JT effect corresponds to a wave vector equal to the critical wave vector of the incommensurate vibronic charge-transfer exciton phase. When the temperature is lowered, the pseudo-JT distortion increases down to ∼T Q and subsequently saturates in accordance with the saturation of the dielectric constant. The basic assumption in the model is that the temperature T=T Q corresponds to the narrow temperature range for the transition from an intermediate to a strong pseudo-JT effect under the conditions for the realization of polarization tunneling states. The appearance of a significant admixture of states of the modulated ferroelectric vibronic charge-transfer exciton phase to the ground state under the conditions for the realization of polarization tunneling states at low temperatures provides an explanation for the principal properties of the Müller phase.
