We solve a problem on the boundary control of forced vibrations of a homogeneous string by two first directional derivatives with time-dependent coefficients and noncharacteristic directions in the boundary conditions on a short time interval in the set of classical solutions. We obtain smoothness, coordination, and controllability conditions on the right-hand side of the equation and the initial and terminal data necessary and sufficient for the unique boundary control of the wave process.  相似文献

We consider a boundary value problem for a second-order linear elliptic differential equation with constant coefficients in a domain that is the exterior of an ellipse. The boundary conditions of the problem contain the values of the function itself and its normal derivative. We give a constructive solution of the problem and find the number of solvability conditions for the inhomogeneous problem as well as the number of linearly independent solutions of the homogeneous problem. We prove the boundary uniqueness theorem for the solutions of this equation.  相似文献

In this paper we analyze the global existence of classical solutions to the initial boundary-value problem for a nonlinear parabolic equation describing the collective behavior of an ensemble of neurons. These equations were obtained as a diffusive approximation of the mean-field limit of a stochastic differential equation system. The resulting nonlocal Fokker-Planck equation presents a nonlinearity in the coefficients depending on the probability flux through the boundary. We show by an appropriate change of variables that this parabolic equation with nonlinear boundary conditions can be transformed into a non standard Stefan-like free boundary problem with a Dirac-delta source term. We prove that there are global classical solutions for inhibitory neural networks, while for excitatory networks we give local well-posedness of classical solutions together with a blow up criterium. Surprisingly, we will show that the spectrum for the operator in the linear case, that corresponding to a system of uncoupled networks, does not give any information about the large time asymptotic behavior.  相似文献

We consider a relatively simple model for pool boiling processes. This model involves only the temperature distribution within the heater and describes the heat exchange with the boiling fluid via a nonlinear boundary condition imposed on the fluid–heater interface. This results in a standard heat equation with a nonlinear Neumann boundary condition on part of the boundary. In this paper, we analyse the qualitative structure of steady-state solutions of this heat equation. It turns out that the model allows both multiple homogeneous and multiple heterogeneous solutions in certain regimes of the parameter space. The latter solutions originate from bifurcations on a certain branch of homogeneous solutions. We present a bifurcation analysis that reveals the multiple-solution structure in this mathematical model. In the numerical analysis a continuation algorithm is combined with the method of separation-of-variables and a Fourier collocation technique. For both the continuous and discrete problem a fundamental symmetry property is derived that implies multiplicity of heterogeneous solutions. Numerical simulations of this model problem predict phenomena that are consistent with laboratory observations for pool boiling processes.  相似文献

In this paper, we analyze the behavior of a family of solutions of a nonlinear elliptic equation with nonlinear boundary conditions, when the boundary of the domain presents a highly oscillatory behavior, which is uniformly Lipschitz and nonlinear terms, are concentrated in a region, which neighbors the boundary of domain. We prove that this family of solutions converges to the solutions of a limit problem in H1an elliptic equation with nonlinear boundary conditions which captures the oscillatory behavior of the boundary and whose nonlinear terms are transformed into a flux condition on the boundary. We obtain closed-form recursion formulas for the classical solutions of a mixed problem for the general inhomogeneous factorized equation of vibrations of a bounded string with second directional derivatives in the boundary conditions, in which the coefficients multi-plying the first of the two directional derivatives are independent of time. We study the case of boundary conditions in which all first directional derivatives are not directed along the characteristics of the equation. We obtain necessary and sufficient conditions on the right-hand side and the initial and boundary data of the problem for its well-posed global solvability in the set of classical solutions.  相似文献

We discuss a method for seeking integrable boundary conditions for nonlinear equations. For the Boussinesq equation, we find a new boundary condition that is compatible with the Lax pair and has an infinite set of higher symmetries and a Bäcklund transformation. We construct a class of explicit partial solutions of an equation satisfying this boundary condition.  相似文献

We consider conservation laws with source terms in a bounded domain with Dirichlet boundary conditions. We first prove the existence of a strong trace at the boundary in order to provide a simple formulation of the entropy boundary condition. Equipped with this formulation, we go on to establish the well-posedness of entropy solutions to the initial–boundary value problem. The proof utilizes the kinetic formulation and the averaging lemma. Finally, we make use of these results to demonstrate the well-posedness in a class of discontinuous solutions to the initial–boundary value problem for the Degasperis–Procesi shallow water equation, which is a third order nonlinear dispersive equation that can be rewritten in the form of a nonlinear conservation law with a nonlocal source term.  相似文献

In this paper we consider two boundary-value problems in a band for higher-order degenerate elliptic equations. These equations degenerate on one boundary of the band to a third-order equation with respect to one variable. We study problems in weight spaces similar to Sobolev ones whose norms are constructed with the help of a certain integral transform. We obtain a priori estimates in these weight spaces for solutions to boundary-value problems in the band for higher-order elliptic equations that degenerate on one boundary of the band to a third-order equation with respect to one variable.  相似文献

We consider in this article the Cahn–Hilliard equation endowed with dynamic boundary conditions. By interpreting these boundary conditions as a parabolic equation on the boundary and by considering a regularized problem, we obtain, by the Leray–Schauder principle, the existence and uniqueness of solutions. In this paper, we investigate the nonexistence of positive solutions for a class of four-point boundary value problem of nonlinear differential equation with fractional order derivative. The work presents the qualitative analysis of the free boundary value problem related to the detachment process in multispecies biofilms. In the framework of continuum approach to one-dimensional mathematical modelling of multispecies biofilm growth, we consider the system of nonlinear hyperbolic partial differential equations governing the microbial species growth, the differential equation for the biomass velocity, the differential equation that governs the free boundary evolution and also accounts for detachment, and the elliptic system for substrate dynamics. The characteristics are used to convert the original moving boundary equation into a suitable differential equation useful to solve the mathematical problem. We also provide another form of the same equation that could be used in numerical applications. Several properties of the solutions to the free boundary problem are shown, such as positiveness of the functions that describe the microbial concentrations and estimates on the characteristic functions. Uniqueness and existence of solutions are proved by introducing a suitable system of Volterra integral equations and using the fixed point theorem.

We suggest a new approach to the statement of boundary value problems for elliptic partial differential equations on arbitrary Riemannian manifolds which is based on the consideration of equivalence classes of functions on a manifold. Using this approach, we establish some interrelation between the solvability of boundary value problems and solvability of exterior boundary problems for the stationary Schrodinger equation. Also we prove the comparison and uniqueness theorems for solutions to boundary value problems in this statement and obtain sufficient conditions for solvability of boundary value problems when the coefficient in the Schrodinger equation is changed.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose complete radiation boundary conditions (CRBCs) for solutions of the convected Helmholtz equation with a uniform mean flow in a waveguide. We first study CRBCs for the Helmholtz equation in a waveguide. Noting that the convected Helmholtz equation is associated with the Helmholtz equation via the Prandtl–Glauert transformation, CRBCs for the convected Helmholtz equation is derived from CRBCs for the Helmholtz equation. We analyse well-posedness and convergence of approximate solutions satisfying CRBCs for the convected Helmholtz equation. In addition, simple numerical experiments will be presented to confirm the theoretical results.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider initial boundary value problem of the generalized Boussinesq equation with nonlinear interior source and boundary absorptive terms. We establish firstly the local existence of solutions by standard Galerkin method. Then we prove both the global existence of the solution and a general decay of the energy functions under some restrictions on the initial data. We also prove a blow-up result for solutions with positive and negative initial energy respectively.  相似文献

In this paper, we confirm the existence of three positive solutions for a class of Riemann-Liouville fractional $q$-difference equation which satisfies the boundary conditions.
