An ultranarrow bandwidth Faraday atomic filter is realized based on cold ~(87)Rb atoms. The atomic filter operates at 780 nm on the 5~2 S_(1/2), F = 2 to 5~2 P_(3/2), F'= 3 transition with a bandwidth of 7.1(8) MHz, which is approaching the natural linewidth of the transition. The peak transmission achieves 2.6(3)% by the multi-pass probe method. This atomic filter based on cold atoms may find potential applications in self-stabilizing lasers in the future.  相似文献

A Raman-amplified atomic filter is demonstrated experimentally. With a coupling light detuned from the D2 line of 85Rb, a weak signal light can be amplified by a factor of 55, and the bandwidth of the filter's transmission spectrum is narrowed to approximately 60 MHz. Moreover, the transmission wavelength is adjustable by changing the coupling-light frequency. Compared with a conventional dispersive atomic filter, this Raman-amplified atomic filter could be more efficient to suppress background noise in free-space quantum-key distribution or a laser-communication system.  相似文献

This paper investigates the absorptive spectral lines of four-level atomic system driven by a coupling, probe and microwave fields. Due to the perturbation of the microwave field, the original electromagnetically induced transparency is changed to electromagnetically induced absorption and the absorptive spectral line can be very narrow. This ultranarrow spectral line has potential applications to the microwave atomic frequency standard and the measurement of very weak magnetic field.  相似文献

We present a theoretical and experimental study of the ultranarrow bandwidth Faraday anomalous dispersion optical filter operating at the rubidium D1 line (795 nm). This atomic line gives better performance than other lines for key figures of merit, e.g., simultaneously 71% transmission, 445 MHz bandwidth, and 1.2 GHz equivalent-noise bandwidth.  相似文献

报道Rb原子法拉弟共振滤光器(AFROF)的理论与实验研究.考虑Rb原子超精细结构的塞曼效应,对Rb-AFROF的传输特性进行理论分析,实验观测了Rb-AFROF的工作频率、通带宽度随外磁场和气室温度的变化关系.测量表明,Rb-AFROF传输效率~50%,带宽小于3GHz,最小探测光强~0.1μW.  相似文献

Tunable delay line with interacting whispering-gallery-mode resonators   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
We theoretically study a parallel configuration of two interacting whispering-gallery-mode optical resonators and show a narrowband modal structure as a basis for a widely tunable delay line. For the optimum coupling configuration the system can possess an unusually narrow spectral feature with a much narrower bandwidth than the loaded bandwidth of each individual resonator. The effect has a direct analogy with the phenomenon of electromagnetically induced transparency in quantum systems for which the interference of spontaneous emission results in ultranarrow resonances.  相似文献

By using Faraday optical filter combined with four-wave mixing (FWM) amplifier, a narrow bandwidth optical amplifying atomic filter with switchable dual-passband is demonstrated experimentally. The two transmission peaks of the filter correspond to the Stokes and anti-Stokes frequencies, exhibiting a Raman gain in 13- and 17-fold, respectively, with bandwidth of ~120 MHz. By properly setting pump laser detuning, switching between filter passbands is realized. We also investigate the dependence of peak transmission on both pump laser intensity and Rb cell temperature. This atomic filter can find practical applications in long-distance laser communications and laser remote-sensing systems.  相似文献

We investigate theoretically the magneto-optical rotation in cavity QED system with atomic Zeeman coherence, which is established via coherent population trapping. Owing to Zeeman coherence, the ultranarrow transmission spectrum less than 1 MHz with gain can be achieved with a flat-top Faraday rotation angle. By controlling the parameters appropriately, the input probe components within the flat-top regime rotate with almost the same angle, and transmit through the cavity perpendicularly to the other components outside the flat-top regime. The concepts discussed here provide an important tool for perfect ultranarrow Faraday optical filter and quantum information processing.  相似文献

In this paper, the transmission characteristics for Rb, 85Rb and 87Rb Faraday optical filters at 532 nm that can be used to detect the practical and important frequency-doubled Nd:YAG laser are analyzed and discussed. The theoretical model of an excited-state Faraday optical filter based on the hyperfine structures of atomic system in the intermediate field, what is to our knowledge, is firstly reported. This model predicts that the peak transmission is approximately 50% with an equivalent bandwidth of less than 3 GHz for filters operating on the 5P1/2 → 10S1/2 transition in Rb, 85Rb and 87Rb vapors, respectively. Moreover, the transmission property of 87Rb atomic vapor is superior to that of Rb, 85Rb atomic vapors, which makes it more suitable for the operation material of Faraday optical filters by comparison with natural Rb vapor.  相似文献

近年来,铷原子频标研究取得长足进展,频率稳定度达到10-13τ-1/2量级.为进一步改善铷频标稳定度性能,本文设计了一种高信噪比物理系统.物理系统中的腔泡组件采用微波场磁力线与量子化轴方向高度平行的开槽管式微波腔,滤光泡和吸收泡独立控温.抽运光源采用了光学滤光和同位素滤光双重滤光方案.本文实测了背景光电流I0和鉴频斜率Kd,结果分别为95 μA和7.7 nA/Hz,在此基础上计算物理系统的散弹噪声极限稳定度为7.5×10-14τ-1/2.研究结果表明,只要锁频环路的电子学噪声得到有效控制,铷频标的频率稳定度突破1×10-13τ-1/2,进入10-14τ-1/2量级是完全可能的.  相似文献

A novel kind of wavelength filter and converter using nondegenerate four-wave mixing (NDFWM) in an optical amplifier with tensile and compressively strained quantum wells (T/C SQW) is reported in this paper. The configuration of the T/C SQW converting filter is designed first, followed by the establishment of the coupling model of the device. The influences of the property parameters of the optical amplifier with T/C SQW on the output efficiency, 3dB bandwidth, and the frequency shift are mainly discussed. The device can serve as both filter and wavelength converter with high conversion efficiency and narrow bandwidth on the order of 0.01 nm. Meanwhile, the frequency conversion range, which is decided by the gain bandwidth of the semiconductor media, is up to 5000 Ghz in the considered case.  相似文献

We report an experimental study of an actively mode-locked fiber ring laser based on the development of an efficient in-fiber amplitude modulator. Intermodal coupling induced by standing flexural acoustic waves permits the implementation of broad bandwidth (1.5 nm), high modulation depth (72%), low-insertion-loss (0.75 dB), in-fiber amplitude modulators, operating in the MHz frequency range. The experimental characterization of the laser as a function of the radio frequency voltage that controls the modulator, the length of the active fiber, and the optical bandwidth of an intracavity filter implemented with a fiber Bragg grating has led to an improved performance of the Erbium-doped fiber laser: optical pulses of 34-ps temporal width, 1.4-W peak power, and 4.75-MHz repetition rate.  相似文献

The dynamic tunability of a terahertz(THz) passband filter was realized by changing the Fermi energy(E_F) of graphene based on the sandwiched structure of metal-graphene-metal metamaterials(MGMs). By using plane wave simulation, we demonstrated that the central frequency( f_0) of the proposed filter can shift from 5.04 THz to 5.71 THz; this shift is accompanied by a 3 dB bandwidth(? f) decrease from 1.82 THz to 0.01 THz as the EFincreases from 0 to 0.75 eV.Additionally, in order to select a suitable control equation for the proposed filter, the curves of ? f and f_0 under different graphene EFwere fitted using five different mathematical models. The fitting results demonstrate that the Dose Resp model offers accurate predictions of the change in the 3 dB bandwidth, and the Quartic model can successfully describe the variation in the center frequency of the proposed filter. Moreover, the electric field and current density analyses show that the dynamic tuning property of the proposed filter is mainly caused by the competition of two coupling effects at different graphene EF, i.e., graphene-polyimide coupling and graphene-metal coupling. This study shows that the proposed structures are promising for realizing dynamically tunable filters in innovative THz communication systems.  相似文献

We report on the generation of a type-I multimode two-photon state on a rubidium D(2) line (780 nm) using periodically poled KTiOPO(4) crystals. With a degenerate optical parametric oscillator far below threshold, we observe an oscillatory correlation function; the cross correlation between two photons shows a cavity bandwidth of about 7.8 MHz. We also use a Fabry-Perot etalon to filter its most longitudinal modes and observe its time correlation function. The experimental data are well fitted to theoretical curves. This system could be utilized for demonstrating storage and retrieval of narrow-band photons in Rb atomic ensembles, which is important for long-distance quantum communication.  相似文献

设计了一种宽频率调节范围的高选择性可调带通滤波器。宽调节范围由一对简单的加载变容管的平行耦合线谐振器设计实现。由于谐振器之间存在电磁混合耦合以及通过加载变容管引入的源与负载频变耦合,该滤波器最终引入了三个自适应性传输零点。而且,三个传输零点在整个调节范围内能够保持相同的相对位置,因此,设计的滤波器实现了在整个宽频率调节范围内的高选择性和良好的带外抑制。同时,在中心频率调节的过程中,通过选择合适的耦合系数,该滤波器可以实现恒定的相对带宽。最终设计出的可调滤波器的调节范围为0.83~2.15 GHz, 可调范围可达88.6%,并保持9%±0.3%的相对带宽不变。测试结果表明该滤波器具备了高选择性和良好的带外抑制能力。  相似文献

We present a precise measurement of a weak radio frequency electric field with a frequency of ■3 GHz employing a resonant atomic probe that is constituted with a Rydberg cascade three-level atom, including a cesium ground state |6S(1/2)〉,an excited state |6P(3/2)〉, and Rydberg state |nD(5/2)〉. Two radio frequency(RF) electric fields, noted as local and signal fields, couple the nearby Rydberg transition. The two-photon resonant Rydberg electromagnetically induced transparency(Rydberg-EIT) is employed to directly read out the weak signal field having hundreds of k Hz difference between the local and signal fields that is encoded in the resonant microwave-dressed Rydberg atoms. The minimum detectable signal fields of ESmin= 1.36 ± 0.04 mV/m for 2.18 GHz coupling |68D(5/2)〉→ |69P(3/2)〉 transition and 1.33 ± 0.02 mV/m for 1.32 GHz coupling |80D(5/2)〉→ |81P(3/2)〉 transition are obtained, respectively. The bandwidth dependence is also investigated by varying the signal field frequency and corresponding -3 dB bandwidth of 3 MHz is attained. This method can be employed to perform a rapid and precise measurement of the weak electric field, which is important for the atom-based microwave metrology.  相似文献

Optomechanics describes the interconnection between the terahertz optical field and mechanical microwave field, making it appealing in the context of nanophotonics and quantum information science. Here, the optomechanically induced mode transition and spectrum enhanced phenomenon in an optomechanical microcavity system are studied. An optical filter that is limited by the bandwidth of the mechanical mode is built. The analytical model is presented by considering a microresonator system which supports two electromagnetic modes and a single mechanical mode. Through the filtering of mechanical resonator, the optical spectral width becomes similar to the mechanical resonator bandwidth which can go beyond the limit of the cavity quality factor. It is found that the transition between the optomechanically induced transparency and the optomechanically induced absorption can be observed by tuning the coupling between the microresonator and the waveguide. Moreover, the controllable nonreciprocal excitation of the system can also be observed.  相似文献

An atomic clock system based on coherent population trapping (CPT) resonance in 85Rb is reported, while most past works about the CPT clock are in ST Rb. A new modulation method (full-hyperfine-frequency-splitting modulation) is presented to reduce the effect of light shift to improve the frequency stability of the CPT clock in SSRb. The experimental results show that the short-term frequency stability of the CPT clock in SSRb is in the order of 10^-10/s and the long-term frequency stability can achieve 1.5 × 10^-11/80000s, which performs as well as 87 Rb in CPT resonance. This very good frequency stability performance associated with the low-cost and low-power properties of SSRb indicates that an atomic clock based on CPT in SSRb should be a promising candidate for making the chip scale atomic clock.  相似文献

We report an excited-state Faraday anomalous-dispersion optical filter operating on the rubidium 5P(3/2)-5D(5/2) transition (775.9 nm in vacuum) without the use of a pump laser. An electrodeless discharge vapor lamp is employed to replace the Rb vapor cell in a traditional Faraday anomalous-dispersion optical filter system. Atoms can be excited by power rather than a complex frequency-locked pump laser. A proof-of-concept experimental demonstration with a maximum transmission of 1.9% and a filter bandwidth of 650 MHz is presented.  相似文献
