Two lines of research are involved here. One is a combinatorial principle, proved in ZFC for many cardinals (e.g., any λ = λ 0) enabling us to prove things which have been proven using the diamond or for strong limit cardinals of uncountable cofinality. The other direction is building abelian groups with few endomorphisms and/or prescribed rings of endomorphisms. We prove that for a ringR, whose additive group is thep-adic completion of a freep-adic module,R is isomorphic to the endomorphism ring of some separable abelianp-groupG divided by the ideal of small endomorphisms, withG of power λ for any λ = λ 0≧|R|. Sufficient conditions are found for arbitrary endomorphisms to have a presentation by sum of automorphisms in the class of Abelian groups whose endomorphism rings are isomorphic to a ring of finite-rowed matrices. This result is then used to establish a criterion for such a presentation in terms of type language for vector Abelian groups, whose reduced part does not exceed the first cardinal of nonzero measure. A ring is said to be normal if all of its idempotents are central. It is proved that a mixed group A with a normal endomorphism ring contains a pure fully invariant subgroup GB, the endomorphism ring of a group G is commutative, and a subgroup B is not always distinguished by a direct summand in A. We describe separable, coperiodic, and other groups with normal endomorphism rings. Also we consider Abelian groups in which the square of the Lie bracket of any two endomorphisms is the zero endomorphism. It is proved that every central invariant subgroup of a group is fully invariant iff the endomorphism ring of the group is commutative.  相似文献

It is proved that any non-trivial endomorphism of an automorphism group AutFn of a free group Fn, for n 3, either is an automorphism or factorization over a proper automorphism subgroup. An endomorphism of AutF2 is an automorphism, or else a homomorphism onto one of the groups S3, D8, Z2 × Z2, Z2, or (Z2 × Z2). A non-trivial homomorphism of AutFn into AutFm, for n 3, m 2, and n > m, is a homomorphism onto Z2 with kernel SAutFn. As a consequence, we obtain that AutFn is co-Hopfian.Supported by RFBR grant No. 02-01-00293 and by the Council for Grants (under RF President) and State Aid of Fundamental Science Schools, project NSh-2069.2003.1.__________Translated from Algebra i Logika, Vol. 44, No. 2, pp. 211–237, March–April, 2005.  相似文献

We establish a criterion determining whether an Abelian group is constructivizable, which is then used to prove that for any natural number r≥1, there exists a principal computable enumeration λ of the class Kr of all constructive groups whose torsion-free ranks are distinct from zero and do not exceed r. The classification problem of endomorphisms of the Cuntz algebra ON\mathcal{O}_{N} is solved by using graph theory. We introduce permutative de Bruijn graphs as generalizations of de Bruijn graphs. Branching laws for a permutative endomorphism ρ of ON\mathcal{O}_{N} are computed by using the permutative de Bruijn graph associated with ρ. According to this correspondence between endomorphisms and graphs, we classify permutative endomorphisms of ON\mathcal{O}_{N} by graph invariants concretely.  相似文献

It is shown that the category of directed graphs is isomorphic to a subcategory of the variety S of all pseudocomplemented semilattices which contains all homomorphisms whose images do not lie in the subvariety B of all Boolean pseudocomplemented semilattices. Moreover, the functor exhibiting the isomorphism may be chosen such that each finite directed graph is assigned a finite pseudocomplemented semilattice. That is to say, it is shown that the variety S of all pseudocomplemented semilattices is finite-to-finite B-relatively universal. This illustrates the complexity of the endomorphism monoids of pseudocomplemented semilattices since it follows immediately that, for any monoid M, there exists a proper class of non-isomorphic pseudocomplemented semilattices such that, for each member S, the endomorphisms of S which do not have an image contained in the skeleton of S form a submonoid of the endomorphism monoid of S which is isomorphic to M. We introduce the universal functorial equivariant Lefschetz invariant for endomorphisms of finite proper G-CW-complexes, where G is a discrete group. We use K0 of the category of “ ϕ -endomorphisms of finitely generated free RΠ(G, X)-modules”. We derive results about fixed points of equivariant endomorphisms of cocompact proper smooth G-manifolds. A concrete category is almost universal if its class of non-constant morphisms contains an isomorphic copy of every category of algebras as a full subcategory. This paper characterizes almost universal varieties of commutative semigroups. As a consequence we obtain that for every infinite cardinal κ there exists a commutative semigroup of cardinality κ such that it has exactly two endomorphisms, the identity endomorphism and a single constant endomorphism.  相似文献

Let R be an associative ring with a unit and N be a left R-module. The set M R(N) = {f: NN | f(rx) = rf(x), rR, xN} is a near-ring with respect to the operations of addition and composition and contains the ring E R(N) of all endomorphisms of the R-module N. The R-module N is endomorphic if M R(N) = E R(N). We call an Abelian group endomorphic if it is an endomorphic module over its endomorphism ring. In this paper, we find endomorphic Abelian groups in the classes of all separable torsion-free groups, torsion groups, almost completely decomposable torsion-free groups, and indecomposable torsion-free groups of rank 2. __________ Translated from Fundamentalnaya i Prikladnaya Matematika, Vol. 13, No. 1, pp. 229–233, 2007.  相似文献

Let k be a field, K/k a finite extension of it of degree n. We denote G=Aut(kK), Go=Aut(k K) and fix in K a basis ω1,...,ωn over k. In this basis, to any automorphism group of kK there corresponds a matrix group, which is denoted by the same symbol. Let G′≤G., In this paper, the conditions under which G′⊎Go is a maximal torus in G′ are studied. The calculation of NG′(G′⊎Go) is carried out, provided that thee conditions are fulfilled. The case G′=SL (kK) is of particular interset. It is known that for Galois extensions and for extensions of algebraic number fields, G′⊎Go is a maximal torus in G′. Bibligraphy: 2 titles. In this paper it is proved that for any measurable partition ξ, ξ ≠ ε mod O, of Lebesgue space with continuous measure that does not have elements of positive measure, there exists an exact endomorphism T with a quasi-invariant measure for which T−1ε=ξ. We study groups having the big powers property BP. It is proved that if a pregroup satisfies some natural axioms, then its universal group has this property. In particular, fundamental groups of some graphs of groups have the big powers property if BP holds for edge and vertex subgroups and a number of natural conditions are satisfied. The results obtained are applied to Lyndon’s completions U(P)ℤ[t] of the universal group U(P) with P satisfying the conditions mentioned. Dedicated to V. N. The Dickson–Mùi algebra consists of all invariants in the mod p cohomology of an elementary abelian p-group under the general linear group. It is a module over the Steenrod algebra, A{\mathcal {A}} . We determine explicitly all the A{\mathcal {A}} -module homomorphisms between the (reduced) Dickson–Mùi algebras and all the A{\mathcal {A}} -module automorphisms of the (reduced) Dickson–Mùi algebras. The algebra of all A{\mathcal {A}} -module endomorphisms of the (reduced) Dickson–Mùi algebra is claimed to be isomorphic to a quotient of the polynomial algebra on one indeterminate. We prove that the reduced Dickson–Mùi algebra is atomic in the meaning that if an A{\mathcal {A}} -module endomorphism of the algebra is non-zero on the least positive degree generator, then it is an automorphism. This particularly shows that the reduced Dickson–Mùi algebra is an indecomposable A{\mathcal {A}} -module. The similar results also hold for the odd characteristic Dickson algebras. In particular, the odd characteristic reduced Dickson algebra is atomic and therefore indecomposable as a module over the Steenrod algebra.  相似文献

Let Λ te an arbitrary associative ring with unity and let R be its unital subring contained in the center of Λ. Further, let M=λ M be a left free Λ-module of finite rank. In this paper, the normalizer of the subgroupAut(λM) of automorphisms of the module λM in the groupAut(RM) of automorphisms of the moduleRM is computed. If the ring Λ is additively generated by its invertible elements, then the above normalizer coincides with the semidirect product of the normal subgroupAut(λM) and a subgroup isomorphic to the groupAut(Λ/R) of all ring automorphisms of the ring Λ that are identical on R. Let A be a class of Abelian groups, AA, and End(A) be the additive endomorphism group of the group A. The group A is said to be defined by its endomorphism group in the class {ie208-01} if for every group BB such that End(B) ≅ End(A) the isomorphism BA holds. The paper considers the problem of definability of a periodic Abelian group A such that End-End(A) ≅ End(A). The classes of periodical Abelian groups, of divisible Abelian groups, of reduced Abelian groups, of nonreduced Abelian groups, and of all Abelian groups are investigated in this paper. __________ Translated from Fundamentalnaya i Prikladnaya Matematika, Vol. 13, No. 2, pp. 123–131, 2007.  相似文献

LetG be a finite primitive group such that there is only one minimal normal subgroupM inG, thisM is nonabelian and nonsimple, and a maximal normal subgroup ofM is regular. Further, letH be a point stabilizer inG. ThenHM is a (nonabelian simple) common complement inM to all the maximal normal subgroups ofM, and there is a natural identification ofM with a direct powerT m of a nonabelian simple groupT in whichHM becomes the “diagonal” subgroup ofT m: this is the origin of the title. It is proved here that two abstractly isomorphic primitive groups of this type are permutationally isomorphic if (and obviously only if) their point stabilizers are abstractly isomorphic. GivenT m, consider first the set of all permutational isomorphism classes of those primitive groups of this type whose minimal normal subgroups are abstractly isomorphic toT m. Secondly, form the direct productS m×OutT of the symmetric group of degreem and the outer automorphism group ofT (so OutT=AutT/InnT), and consider the set of the conjugacy classes of those subgroups inS m×OutT whose projections inS m are primitive. The second result of the paper is that there is a bijection between these two sets. The third issue discussed concerns the number of distinct permutational isomorphism classes of groups of this type, which can fall into a single abstract isomorphism class.  相似文献

The concept of ‘topological right transversal’ is introduced to study right transversals in topological groups. Given any right quasigroupS with a Tychonoff topologyT, it is proved that there exists a Hausdorff topological group in whichS can be embedded algebraically and topologically as a right transversal of a subgroup (not necessarily closed). It is also proved that if a topological right transversal(S, T S ,T S , o) is such thatT S =T S is a locally compact Hausdorff topology onS, thenS can be embedded as a right transversal of a closed subgroup in a Hausdorff topological group which is universal in some sense.  相似文献
