It has been known for some time that the degree of polarization of a light beam may change on propagation, even in free space. In this Letter we derive sufficiency conditions for the degree of polarization of a beam generated by a uniformly polarized stochastic, electromagnetic source of a wide class to be the same throughout the far zone and in the source plane.  相似文献

根据光束的相干-偏振矩阵和传输理论,对部分相干平顶光束经正多边形光阑衍射的偏振特性进行了系统的研究.给出了部分相干平顶光束偏振度传输公式,并将高斯-谢尔模型光束以及部分相干平顶光束在自由空间传输的偏振度作为特例统一于一般表达式中.研究表明:部分相干平顶光束经光阑衍射的偏振特性与光阑截断参数、光束的空间相干性、衍射角、传输距离、平顶光束的阶数有关. 关键词: 部分相干平顶光束 偏振特性 相干-偏振矩阵 正多边形光阑 光阑衍射  相似文献

根据光束扩展理论,以部分相干的电磁高斯-谢尔光束为研究对象,分析了电磁光束传输时其偏振特性的变化机理.结果表明,光源参数和大气湍流对电磁光束分量扩展的影响是导致传输过程中电磁光束偏振特性变化的原因.在真空中传输时,电磁光束两分量的相干性存在差异,导致传输时电磁光束两分量扩展快慢不同,从而引起传输路径上光束谱偏振度的变化.在大气湍流中,电磁光束两分量扩展的快慢与光源参数和大气湍流强度均有关,当传输路径较短时,电磁光束偏振变化主要与光源参数有关,变化特性与在真空中传输时的情况类似,而传输距离较远时,电磁光束偏振变化受大气湍流的影响明显,变化特性与在真空中传输时的情形存在不同.  相似文献

推导出部分相干涡旋平顶光束的传输解析公式,并用以研究了聚焦场和自由空间中部分相干涡旋光束形成相干涡旋的特性.结果表明,相干涡旋与光束阶数N,空间相干参数α和参考点位置(x1,y1)有关.依赖于参考点的选择,光谱相干度可能存在零值点,也可能没有零值点.特别是,若选取x1=y1=0,光谱相干度零值点处的位相可以是确定的,因而不存在相干涡旋.  相似文献

The propagation of a weak probe field in a four-level N-type quantum system in the presence of spontaneously generated coherence(SGC) is theoretically investigated. The optical properties of the system are studied and it is shown that the group velocity of light pulse can be controlled by relative phase of applied fields. By changing the relative phase of applied fields, the group velocity of light pulse changes from transparent subluminal to the transparent superluminal light propagation. Thus, the phase-controlled absorption-free superluminal light propagation is obtained without applying an incoherent laser fields to the system. The propagation of a weak probe light pulse is studied by solving the Maxwell's wave equation on numerical grid in space and time. Moreover, we study the third order self- and cross-Kerr susceptibility of probe field and calculate the nonlinear cross-phase shift for different values of intensity of applied fields. In addition, we take into account the effect of Doppler broadening on the light pulse propagation and it is found that a suitable choice of laser propagation directions allows us to preserve our results even in the presence of Doppler effect. It is demonstrated that by increasing the Doppler width of distribution to the room temperature,the dispersion changes from transparent subluminal to transparent superluminal light propagation which is our major motivation for this work.  相似文献

文章分析了高斯-谢尔光束在大气湍流中传输时相干长度的变化, 并与真空传输做比较, 真空传输相干长度的变化只与光源参数有关, 大气湍流中传输相干长度的变化受光源参数和湍流的共同影响. 真空传输光束扩展造成相干长度增大; 大气湍流中, 传输距离较短时, 相干长度由于光源扩展而增加, 当传输距离较大时, 湍流效应增强引起相干长度下降. 因此, 单纯从相干长度方面分析大气湍流带来的影响不够完备. 为排除光源扩展影响, 利用相干长度与光斑尺度的比值进行分析, 发现大气湍流会造成比值的下降. 在数值仿真的基础上对上述结果给出了解释. 关键词: 部分相干 大气湍流 高斯-谢尔模 光束扩展  相似文献

The concept of existing scalar coherent four-petal Gaussian (FPG) beam is extended to the more general partially coherent electromagnetic four-petal Gaussian (PCFPG) beam, and the cross-spectral density matrix of the latter is derived in analytical expressions. Intensity distributions and degree of polarization in free space are investigated by numerical examples. Results show that propagation properties of the PCFPG beam are different from their scalar coherent and scalar partially coherent counterparts. Both intensity distributions and polarization strongly depend on transversal coherence lengths. When the propagation distance increases to a large value, intensity distributions of PCFPG beams convert into the Gauss profile. Polarization of PCFPG beams shows an oscillating characteristic upon propagation, and the oscillation would enhance with the increase of coherence lengths. These results may find potential applications in beam shaping and free space optical communications.  相似文献

提出了一种新型特殊关联部分相干光束即非均匀拉盖尔-高斯关联光束,其在x和y方向上的关联结构函数分别为非均匀关联和拉盖尔-高斯关联函数.基于广义惠更斯-菲涅耳衍射积分公式,推导了这种光束交叉谱密度函数在自由空间以及大气湍流中的传输式,并计算了该光束经过自由空间和湍流大气传输的光强分布和关联结构函数分布演化特性.研究发现,该光束光强分布在传输过程中展现出自聚焦、自偏移和自分裂等奇异特性,同时发现控制关联结构函数参数可以有效地降低湍流大气的影响.关联结构调控为操控光束传输行为提供了一种新颖而有效的手段,在大气激光通信、微粒操控等领域具有重要的应用前景.  相似文献

With the help of a tensor method, an analytical nonparaxial propagation formula for a twisted anisotropic Gaussian Schell-model (GSM) beam in free space is derived based on the generalized Raleigh-Sommerfeld diffraction integral. The far-field nonparaxial propagation expression for a twisted anisotropic GSM beam is also derived. The paraxial approximation is dealt with as a special case of our general result. Our numerical results show that the nonparaxial propagation properties of a twisted anisotropic GSM beam are closely related to the initial beam parameters (i.e., twist factor, transverse spot width matrix, coherence width matrix and wavelength) and the propagation distance. Our formulae provide a convenient and powerful way for studying the paraxial and nonparaxial propagation of an isotropic or anisotropic GSM beam with or without twist phase in free space.  相似文献

为实现采用相位屏法正确模拟准直激光束经湍流大气的传输特性,根据湍流特性、抽样定理以及两屏间衍射过程FFT算法本身所决定的相邻两屏网格间距之间的关系,得出相位屏间距和网格间距确定网格数目最优取值的解析表达式,数值模拟高斯光束经自由空间和湍流大气传输的远场分布,网格数目取解析式求得的最优值848时,光束经自由空间传输的模拟结果与ABCD定律求得的解析结果完全一致;网格数目取836或860时,等效于光束通过偶数相位屏时被正透镜或负透镜阵列会聚或发散,削弱或夸大湍流大气对光束的影响,模拟结果出现严重偏差。  相似文献

Taking Gaussian Schell-model (GSM) background vortex beams as an example of partially coherent vortex beams, the composite coherence vortices resulting from the superposition of the cross-spectral density function of two parallel, noncollinear partially coherent vortex beams and their propagation in free space are studied, and the main attention is paid to the effect of relative off-axis distance, coherence parameter and propagation distance on the composite coherence vortices. The number and location of composite coherence vortices vary by changing the relative off-axis distance, coherence parameter or propagation distance. In the coherent limit, the composite coherence vortex becomes the composite optical vortex.  相似文献

Taking the modal behaviours of the laser field into account, the coherence properties of laser light can be characterized by mode coherence functions (MCFs) and mode coherence coefficients (MCCs). Changes in laser light properties due to optical operations can be described by transformation laws for the MCFs and the MCCs. The transformation laws as well as transformation matrices for propagation in free space, phase transformations, spatial amplitude modulations and aperturizing are given. Furthermore, intensity distributions and intensity moments in the spatial and in the spatial frequency domains are expressed in terms of the MCCs. General expressions for the beam quality factors,M 2s, obtained using the intensity moments and some useful expressions for intensity moments of higher order are discussed.  相似文献

Based on the generalized Raleigh-Sommerfeld diffraction integral, an analytical nonparaxial propagation formula of a partially coherent dark hollow beam (DHB) in free space is derived. The paraxial approximation is dealt with as a special case of our general result. By using the derived formula, the nonparaxial propagation properties of DHBs are studied and are compared with the paraxial results. It is shown that the nonparaxiality properties of a partially coherent DHB are closely related to its initial beam parameters (i.e., beam waist size, wavelength, coherence length, dark size) and the propagation distance.  相似文献

基于van Cittert-Zernike定理,从理论上计算出大功率单色发光二极管(LED)辐出光,在空间中传输后的空间相干性分布。计算结果表明,自发辐射的LED光源其辐射光在空间中传输后,由非相干光变为部分相干光,且其空间相干性与LED芯片的结构有关。实验上采用双缝干涉对LED辐射光的空间相干性进行测量,由干涉条纹的可见度与两点间的相干度之间的关系得出,非相干LED光源的辐射光在传输后为部分相干光。而采用间隔可调的双缝干涉测量两点间的相干度后发现,LED的芯片发光区域决定了其辐射光在传输中的空间相干性分布。理论计算的空间相干性分布与实验测量结果基本吻合。  相似文献

 对部分空间和部分光谱相干2维高斯-谢尔模型脉冲光束在自由空间传输的光谱和时间特性做了详细的数值研究。结果表明,部分空间和部分光谱相干高斯-谢尔模型脉冲光束在自由空间传输中发生了光谱移动,光谱移动与场点位置、空间相关长度和时间相干长度有关。在轴上,光谱出现蓝移,相对光谱移动随传输距离的增加而增大,随空间相关长度和时间相干长度的增加而减小,并逐渐趋于一定值。在轴外,光谱出现蓝移和红移,并与空间相关长度和时间相干长度有关。脉冲时间波形不变,对所得主要结果做了物理解释。  相似文献

When acoustic waves are scattered by random sound-speed fluctuations in a two-dimensional channel the energy is continually transferred between the propagating modes. In the multiple- scattering region the energy flux assumes an asymptotic form in which there is equal energy flux propagating in each mode. Here we shall make use of this well known result to show how to obtain an asymptotic form for a pulse of acoustic energy propagating in the channel. In the multiple-scattering region the speed of the acoustic waves in the pulse continually changes as the energy is transferred between the modes. The process is basically a diffusion process around the mean speed of propagation. We shall first show, using physical arguments, that the diffusion coefficient is proportional to the square root of the propagation distance times the mean free path of scattering. The theory governing the acoustic propagation in the channel is formulated in terms of modal coherence equations and we shall next give a brief review of the definitions of the coherence functions and a discussion of how the equations governing the propagation of the modal coherence functions are derived. We shall then show how the pulse shape and the relevant parameters may be obtained by solving the basic modal coherence equations at large propagation distances.  相似文献

The recent theory formulated in terms of the 2×2 cross-spectral density matrix and the propagation law of cross-spectral density are employed to investigate the stochastic electromagnetic vortex beam and its propagation characterization. Based on these, we derived the general formulae for the intensity distribution, degree of coherence and degree of polarization for stochastic electromagnetic vortex beam while propagating in free space. It is shown that the intensity distribution and the degree of polarization of the stochastic electromagnetic vortex beam propagating in free space depend on the correlation length and the topological charge of the vortex beam.  相似文献

The conversion between different polarizations generally requires an optical element or an optical system. We demonstrate, theoretically and experimentally, that the conversion between different states of polarization (SoP) can be flexibly manipulated in a structured optical field by itself. During the structured optical field propagation in free space, any two orthogonal polarizations can be generated and auto‐focus at any desired propagation positions by purposely designing the initial SoP distribution and a caustic phase in the field cross‐section. The experiment arrangement combines a caustic‐based approach and a 4f optical system. This approach provides a way to flexibly manipulate the polarization conversions in free space propagation by the optical field itself (without any physical element along the propagation path), may lead to more complex and flexible vectorial manipulations of an optical field scenarios and potential applications in corresponding areas.  相似文献
