A theory of random small-angle scattering is presented. The photon dispersion partial differential equation is derived and the dispersion coefficient characterizing the medium is introduced. The equation is solved for a spatial impulse. The modulation transfer function and the contrast loss are derived as a funcion of spatial frequency, dispersion coefficient, and object-to-image distance. The limitation on resolution is shown by an indeterminancy relation based on the dispersion coefficient. The dispersion angle (rms value of scattering angle) is calculated as an example.  相似文献

Possible types of low-frequency electromagnetic solitary waves in a dispersive LC transmission line with a quadratic or cubic capacitive nonlinearity are investigated. The fourth-order nonlinear wave equation with ohmic losses is derived from the differential-difference equations of the discrete line in the continuum approximation. For a zero-loss line, this equation can be reduced to the nonlinear equation for a transmission line, the double dispersion equation, the Boussinesq equations, the Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation, and the modified KdV equation. Solitary waves in a transmission line with dispersion and dissipation are considered.  相似文献

The existence of "dispersion-managed solitons," i.e., stable pulsating solitary-wave solutions to the nonlinear Schrodinger equation with periodically modulated and sign-variable dispersion is now well known in nonlinear optics. Our purpose here is to investigate whether similar structures exist for other well-known nonlinear wave models. Hence, here we consider as a basic model the variable-coefficient Korteweg-de Vries equation; this has the form of a Korteweg-de Vries equation with a periodically varying third-order dispersion coefficient, that can take both positive and negative values. More generally, this model may be extended to include fifth-order dispersion. Such models may describe, for instance, periodically modulated waveguides for long gravity-capillary waves. We develop an analytical approximation for solitary waves in the weakly nonlinear case, from which it is possible to obtain a reduction to a relatively simple integral equation, which is readily solved numerically. Then, we describe some systematic direct simulations of the full equation, which use the soliton shape produced by the integral equation as an initial condition. These simulations reveal regions of stable and unstable pulsating solitary waves in the corresponding parametric space. Finally, we consider the effects of fifth-order dispersion. A new kind of helical groove structure, step-loaded groove waveguide is presented and analyzed in this paper. The dispersion equation of this structure is derived by means of a field-matching method. This equation may be reduced to the dispersion equation of helical ridge-loaded structure and rectangular one. In order to demonstrate the influence of the step on the dispersion properties, the comparison of the dispersion characteristics is made in these helical rectangular and modified rectangular groove structures. Form the analysis, it is shown that the step loading tends to reduce the dispersion of the helical groove circuit and the step-loaded structure has the weaker dispersion compared with the rectangular one or the ridge-loaded one. The effect of the step shape on the wave properties is also discussed under the deep groove case. The theoretical results explicitly indicate that the V-like step-loaded structure has the weakest dispersion in all step-loaded structures.  相似文献

基于电磁模式的色散方程,研究了有损金属圆波导中电磁模式的传输问题.在考虑了损耗层厚度影响的情况下,得到了各模式传输常数的近似解析表达式,此式适用于截止频率附近.通过解析表达式和波导模式色散方程,对衰减常数和相位常数进行了大量数值计算,得到了它们随损耗层厚度、频率以及损耗层电导率的变化规律,两种方法所获得的结果有较好的一致性.研究表明,损耗强度和损耗层厚度的变化会改变波导中电磁模式的色散和简并特性,对于改善高功率回旋行波放大器中注波互作用带宽和模式竞争非常有益. 关键词: 有损圆波导 相位常数 衰减常数 色散方程  相似文献

A dispersion-managed optical system with stepwise periodic variation of dispersion is studied in a strong dispersion map limit in the framework of the path-averaged Gabitov-Turitsyn equation. The soliton solution is obtained by analytical and numerical iteration of the path-averaged equation. An efficient numerical algorithm for finding a DM soliton shape is developed. The envelope of soliton oscillating tails is found to decay exponentially in time, and the oscillations are described by a quadratic law.  相似文献

A self-consistent relativistic field theory for a helix traveling wave tube (TWT) is presented for a configuration in which a magnetized pencil beam propagates through a tape helix enclosed with a loss-free well. A linear analysis of the interaction is solved subject to the boundary conditions imposed by the beam, helix, and wall. The wave equation for the fields within the electron beam corresponds to the Appleton-Hartree magnetoionic wave modes that are of mixed electrostatic/electromagnetic polarization. Hence, the determinantal dispersion equation that is obtained implicitly includes beam space-charge effects without recourse to a heuristic model of the space-charge field. This dispersion equation includes azimuthal variations and all spatial harmonics of the tape helix. Solutions that correspond to both the extraordinary (X) and ordinary (O ) solutions for the Appleton-Hartree modes are found numerically  相似文献

The dispersion equation for additional transverse electromagnetic waves in a multicomponent amorphous insulator is analyzed in the vicinity of a narrow absorption line. Such waves can be excited due to spatial dispersion associated with fluctuation of the polarizability of insulator molecules. The conditions under which the dispersion relation of an additional (new) wave is mainly determined by the mean square of the polarizability fluctuations are determined.  相似文献

Searching for special solitary wave solutions with compact support is of important significance in soliton theory. In this paper, to understand the role of nonlinear dispersion in pattern formation, a family of the regularized longwave Boussincsq equations with fully nonlinear dispersion (simply called R(m, n) equations), utt + a( un )xx + b(um )xxtt = 0(a, b const.), is studied. New solitary wave solutions with compact support of R(m, n) equations are found. In addition we find another compacton solutions of the two special cases, R(2, 2) equation and R(3, 3) equation. It is found that the nonlinear dispersion term in a nonlinear evolution equation is not a necessary condition of that it possesses compacton solutions.  相似文献

Weakly nonlinear magneto-acoustic waves propagating at an arbitrary angle to the external magnetic field in a rotating plasma are considered. A model equation (Ostrovsky's equation with positive dispersion) is derived from a set of basic magneto-hydrodynamic equations. Stationary solutions of this equation are obtained numerically and analyzed in detail theoretically. These include solitary-type solutions (solitons with monotonic and oscillating tails), complex multisolitons (bound states of coupled single solitons), as well as periodic waves. We emphasize that the positive dispersion, in contrast to the negative one, gives rise to solitary waves within the framework of Ostrovsky's equation.  相似文献

A self-consistent relativistic field theory of a helix traveling wave tube (TWT) is presented for a configuration in which a thin annular beam propagates through a sheath helix enclosed within a loss-free wall. A linear analysis of the interaction is carried out, subject to the boundary conditions imposed by the beam, helix, and wall. A detrimental dispersion equation is obtained which implicitly includes beam space-charge effects without recourse to a heuristic model of the space-charge field. The equation is valid for arbitrary azimuthal mode number and is solved numerically for the azimuthally symmetric case. The coupled-wave Pierce theory is recovered in the near-resonant limit. Numerical comparisons between the complete dispersion equation and the Pierce model are described. A discrepancy is found between the Pierce and the field theory even for low currents in the nominally ballistic regime, owing to the dielectric effect of the beam on the helix modes  相似文献

Using the linear approximation, we consider beam instabilities like a collective and a singleparticle stimulated Cherenkov effect developing in a longitudinally bounded electrodynamic system near its nontransparency band, i.e., when the electromagnetic wave excited by the beam has a zero group velocity. A dispersion equation is obtained which determines instability development increments with allowance for the exit of the radiation from the electrodynamic system. Solutions to the dispersion equation for various parameters of the electron beam and the electrodynamic system are investigated.  相似文献

We study shear-horizontal (SH) waves in a crystal plate of rotated Y-cut quartz in contact with a semi-infinite viscous fluid. The crystal plate and the fluid are governed by the equations of anisotropic elasticity and the theory of Newtonian fluids. A transcendental equation that determines the dispersion relations of the waves is obtained. Approximate analytical solutions to the equation are presented for the case of low viscosity fluids and the case of long waves whose wavelength is much larger than the plate thickness. The effects of the fluid viscosity and density on the dispersion relations of the waves are examined. The results obtained are fundamental and useful to the understanding and design of acoustic wave fluid sensors for measuring fluid viscosity or density.  相似文献

对泄漏波导法测量薄膜折射率和厚度的实验方法做了介绍,基于四层介质结构的理论模型,通过严格的电磁场理论推导出了测量方法依据的本征色散方程,并使用了Newton-Raphson方法求解复传播常数,保证了测量的精确与快捷.以等离子增强化学气相沉积法生长的SiO2薄膜为例,对其折射率和厚度进行了测定.实验证明,本文方法与传统方法相比,不仅具有更高的测量精度,而且数据处理更加快捷,完成一片样品测试,仅花费机时60 ms.  相似文献

Taking into account many developments in fiber optics communications, we propose a higher nonlinear Schrödinger equation (HNLS) with variable coefficients, more general than that in [R. Essiambre, G.P. Agrawal, Opt. Commun. 131 (1996) 274], which governs the propagation of ultrashort pulses in a fiber optics with generic variable dispersion. The study of this equation is performed using the Painlevé test and the zero-curvature method. Also, we prove the equivalence between this equation and its anomalous integrable counterpart (the so-called Sasa-Satsuma equation). Finally, in view of its physical relevance, we present a soliton solution which represents the propagation of ultrashort pulses in a dispersion decreasing fiber.  相似文献

Starting from a multimode hamiltonian for a system of radiating oscillators coupled with atomic reservoirs, the secular master equation for the radiation-density operator is calculated in the interaction picture after elimination of the atomic variables. Using the differential operator representation for coherent states this equation is transcribed into a multimode Fokker-Planck equation. The stationary solution in momentum space is given for the threshold region. Fourier transformation to configuration space results in a quasi-free energy formula for a laser oscillator exhibiting spatial dispersion.  相似文献

The effect of a surface impedance load on the properties of axisymmetric quasi-Rayleigh waves propagating along the boundaries of a cylindrical cavity is investigated. By solving the problem by means of the impedance method, a dispersion equation for these waves is obtained. It is shown that the equation can be represented as the condition that the determinant of the sum of impedance matrices of the load and the medium is zero. Analysis of this equation allows one to investigate the effect of the surface load on the behavior of quasi-Rayleigh waves and on their critical frequencies. The conditions that should be met by the impedance load for quasi-Rayleigh waves to be absent near the cavity or for one or two such waves to exist are determined. The choice of the load is specified for the propagating quasi-Rayleigh wave to possess preset dispersion properties. The conclusions drawn on the basis of this study are illustrated by several examples of load models that can be implemented in practice.  相似文献

We study a simple stochastic differential equation that models the dispersion of close heavy particles moving in a turbulent flow. In one and two dimensions, the model is closely related to the one-dimensional stationary Schr?dinger equation in a random δ-correlated potential. The ergodic properties of the dispersion process are investigated by proving that its generator is hypoelliptic and using control theory.  相似文献
