A compact multi-component trace-gas detector based on the resonant photoacoustic technique and a NIR external cavity diode laser has been developed. It has been characterized using a mixture of ethylene and methane diluted in ambient air. A spectroscopic investigation of combination bands and overtones between 5900 and 6250 cm-1, obtained with an IR pulsed laser photoacoustic spectrometer, allowed us to find a wavelength region where the 2ν3 overtone of CH4 and the ν59 combination band of C2H4 show uncongested rotational lines. Using a single-mode scan of the diode laser in this region, around 6150 cm-1, the sensitivity for the simultaneous detection of ethylene and methane is 8 ppm/mW and 40 ppm/mW respectively. Factors affecting the sensitivity and selectivity of the detection system and possible improvements suitable to reach the sub-ppm detection limit are discussed. We have completed our investigations of the weak overtone transitions of nitrous oxide near 1.05 μm by the study of the 9090-9560 cm−1 region by intracavity laser absorption spectroscopy (ICLAS) using a vertical external cavity surface emitting laser (VeCSEL). Eight bands were rotationally analyzed. Two hot bands are newly observed while the rotational analysis of the six cold bands has been improved. This Note includes the correction of a few misprints in the rovibrational parameters and the reconsideration of the analysis of an interpolyad Coriolis interaction system given in our previous contribution [J. Eighty absorption features corresponding to the fourth overtone of the OH stretch have been observed in the visible portion of the spectrum in gaseous methanol using the technique of dye laser intracavity absorption. The measured wavelengths are listed, and the oscillator strengths of the two strongest features are measured. These strong features appear diffuse, resembling in appearance some of the narrower diffuse interstellar absorption bands. These features are, however, too weak to be observed astronomically. The band center of the gaseous spectrum is shifted toward the blue relative to the band center observed in dilute solutions of methanol.  相似文献

An electric-discharge carbon monoxide broadband overtone laser has been developed. The laser is capable of lasing on CO first overtone bands only (Δv = 2) and delivering up to 12 W cw power at efficiencies of up to 5%. The laser output consists of vibrational-rotational lines of the v = 9 → 7 to v = 35 → 33 overtone bands and covers the spectral range between 2.6 and 3.9 μm. Totally about 40-45 lines could be observed in the laser spectrum simultaneously. A kinetic modeling code has been developed to predict the power, efficiency, and the output spectrum of the CO overtone laser.  相似文献

The absorption specta of CO laser radiation by 3ν3 overtone bands of 238UF6 and 235UF6 has been measured using photoacoustic spectroscopic techniques. For the two temperatures 250 K and 290 K, measured absorption coefficients and cross-sections of the 3ν3 band of 235UF6 are reported for the first time.  相似文献

A spectrum of HSiF(3) has been recorded at room temperature with a gas pressure of 20-50 Torr in the near-infrared region. A laser photoacoustic spectrometer consisting of a longitudinal resonant cell coupled to a titanium:sapphire ring laser was employed. The 5nu(1) and 6nu(1) overtone bands of H(28)SiF(3) associated with the Si-H stretching have been observed at high resolution (3 x 10(-2) cm(-1)) in the regions 10 900-10 960 and 12 875-12 925 cm(-1), respectively. The absorption spectrum of HDO has been recorded by intracavity laser absorption spectroscopy in the 16 540-17 055 cm(-1) spectral region corresponding to the 5nu(3) band centered at 16 920 cm(-1). The (0 0 5) vibrational state is found to be mostly isolated from the nearby rovibrational states. The corresponding rovibrational transitions were analyzed and fitted in the frame of the effective rotational Hamiltonian model in Pade-Borel approximants form. The spectroscopic parameters retrieved from the fitting reproduce 100 of the 109 determined energy levels with the root-mean-square deviation of 0.0072 cm(-1), close to the experimental accuracy. From the integrated relative intensities of a- and b-type transitions, the angle between the transition moment and the OH bond is estimated to be 46.4 degrees. This value is consistent with an increasing tilt of the transition dipole moment, away from the OH bond, when the OH stretching is excited. The evolution of the orientation of the transition dipole moment versus the vibrational excitation is then compared for the OH and OD overtone bands. Copyright 2000 Academic Press.  相似文献

We have measured the pressure broadening coefficients of a number of rotation-vibration lines in the 0–4 through 0–7 overtone bands of HCl utilizing a Fourier transform spectrometer and a 409 m path length White cell. These data, when included with previous measurements on the fundamental and lower overtone bands, show a systematic variation of pressure broadening with increasing overtone band. This result reflects a change in the collision dynamics between molecules in the upper state of the transition with ground state molecules.  相似文献

The high frequency and power stability and the continuous tunability of the parametric oscillator make it ideally suited for this application. Detection sensitivities of 0.5 ppb for ethane are obtained, which is comparable to the best results previously obtained with intracavity detection using line-tunable CO overtone lasers. The flexibility and compact size of cw single-frequency parametric oscillators can lead to portable photoacoustic trace-gas detection systems for environmental monitoring and process control. Experimental method for measuring photoacoustic(PA) signals generated by a pulsed laser beam in liquids is described. The pulsed PA technique is found to be a convenient and accurate method for determination of quantum yield in fluorescent dye solutions. Concentration dependence of quantum yield of rhodamine 6G in water is studied using the above method. The results indicate that the quantum yield decreases with increase in concentration in the quenching region in agreement with the existing reports based on radiometric measurements.  相似文献

Until recently laser research has been the province of the physicist wherein lasers have been utilized extensively as sources of coherent, highly monochromatic energy. The thrust of this research has been to employ the organic solution laser output as an analytical signal from which information about a particular system may be extracted. Preliminary investigations in this laboratory showed that a great number of variables are active in the achievement of lasing from an organic solution. More significantly, concurrent work in this laboratory produced some anomalous results which were subsequently attributed to a cavity defect. This suggested that small energy losses at discrete wavelengths within the resonant cavity of an organic solution laser could result in quenching of broad band laser emission at those specific wavelengths. These considerations led to investigations in which atoms and mlecules were purposefully introduced into the resonant cavity of an organic solution laser.1 A search of the literature revealed that investigators at The National Bureau of Standards had previously observed this phenomenon and had reported on the intra-cavity absorption of a pulsed rhodamine 6G laser emission by sodium vapor.2 In a follow-up paper Keller and co-workers demonstrated the enhancement of absorption for Eu(NO3)3) when placed within the cavity of a rhodamine 6G laser. Concurrently absorption was observed from Ba and Sr in an air-acetylene flame within a dye laser cavity by, Thrash et al.4 Hansch and co-workers5 duplicated the intra-cavity absorption experiment with iodine vapor and compared the sensitivity of this result with measurements obtained from conventional absorption techniques. At about the same time Latz, Wyles, and Green1 reported data which dennnstrated that the extent of intra-cavity absorption for nitrogen dioxide was linearly related to its concentration. Investigation into the use of a laminar flow burner with an air-acetylene flame within a dye laser cavity showed part per billion (ppb) detection limits for sodium as well as the detection of barium and mercury. The completion of these intracavity absorption studies in the visible region of the spectrum yielded the results which are reported here as well as quantitative intyacavity absorption data for Eu+3. Continuous scanning of a 1 GHz pulsed laser line using only one 5-cm grating as an intracavity selective element is obtained from a pulsed dye laser pumped by a Nd: YAG (8 ns-532 nm) laser. Such a single-grating dye laser operates in the same way as a real double-grating grazing incidence laser and provides an appreciable improvement of the resolution (enhancement factor 2), compared with previous grazing incidence ones. In a ring travelling-wave dye laser a parasitic structure in the intracavity absorption spectrum is fully eliminated and a detection limit as low as 10-10 cm-1 is obtained. Three types of lasers (double-heterostructure 66 K InAsSb/InAsSbP laser diode, room temperature, multi quantum wells with distributed feedback (MQW with DFB) (GaInAsSb/AlGaAsSb based) diode laser and vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSELs) (GaSb based) have been characterized using Fourier transform emission spectroscopy and compared. The photoacoustic technique was employed to determine the detection limit of formaldehyde (less than 1 ppmV) for the strongest absorption line of the v3 + v5 band in the emission region of the GaInAsSb/AlGaAsSb diode laser. The detection limit (less than 10 ppbV) of formaldehyde was achieved in the 2820 cm−1 spectral range in case of InAsSb/InAsSbP laser (fundamental bands of v1, v5). Laser sensitive detection (laser absorption together with high resolution Fourier transform infrared technique including direct laser linewidth measurement, infrared photoacoustic detection of neutral molecules (methane, form-aldehyde) is discussed.  相似文献

High-resolution, infrared absorption spectra of the nu6 (asymmetric C-H stretch) and 2nu2 (H-C-H symmetric bend overtone) bands of jet-cooled CH2F2 are reported with a sub-Doppler resolution of approximately 0.002 cm-1. More than 600 transitions were observed in the range of 3002-3036 cm-1, of which 268 were assigned the nu6 fundamental and 184 were assigned to the 2nu2 overtone. A fit of the nu6 band to the A-reduced Watson Hamiltonian yielded eight effective constants including nu0 = 3014.0503(1), A' = 1.62868(4), B' = 0.354165(5), and C' = 0.308852(3) cm-1. Similarly, the weaker 2nu2 band was fit to seven parameters including nu0 = 3026.2297(2), and A' = 1.63396(6), B' = 0.35367(1), and C' = 0.31183(1) cm-1. Numbers in parentheses are two standard deviations in units of the last digit. Anomalous values of the A rotational constant and the DeltaK centrifugal distortion constant are attributed to an a-axis Coriolis interaction between the 2nu2 and nu6 bands. The relative intensity of the 2nu2 band is used to estimate the stretch-bend anharmonic interaction with nu1. Copyright 1999 Academic Press.  相似文献

研制了一种基于红外热辐射光源的光声气体分析仪,给出了该光声气体分析仪的设计理论、硬件结构、软件系统和实验测试结果。根据红外热辐射光源的光谱特性,通过比较吸收气体在不同吸收带中多线的综合吸收系数,确定了光声池的最优设计参数、滤光片的中心波长和带宽。实验结果表明,该光声气体分析仪对CO,NO和H2S的极限检测灵敏度分别达到1.6×10-6,4.5×10-6和4.0×10-4(被测气体与背景气体的分压比),并且对0~987×10-6 的CO测量显示了其良好的测量重复精度和线性度。此外,通过增加特定中心波长的滤光片还能够对其他多种小分子气体实现高灵敏度、实时、连续、自动地测量。  相似文献

This article presents measurements which combine modelocking technique with intracavity spectroscopy. To test this approach, a sample (10–5 m ethanolic solution of 1,4-dihydroxyanthranquinone) was inserted in a modelocked Ar+ ion laser and probed by intracavity pulses of a synchronously pumped dye laser. The probing of the sample results in an amplification of the dye laser output. Maximum output was measured if the pulses of the dye laser temporally overlapped with those of the Ar+ ion laser inside the sample. Under this condition, the spectral laser intensity was shaped by the spectrum of stimulated fluorescence which originated from a molecular vibronic state populated by pump laser excitation.Presented at LASERION '91, June 12–14, 1991, München (Germany)  相似文献

The weak overtone transitions of nitrous oxide, N2O, have been investigated around 1.05 μm by Fourier Transform spectroscopy and intracavity laser absorption spectroscopy (ICLAS) using different vertical external cavity surface emitting lasers (VECSELs). Nine bands were rotationally analyzed revealing the occurrence of some local rotational perturbations. The interaction mechanisms and the perturbers are univocally assigned on the basis of the effective Hamiltonian model. In two cases, interpolyad couplings were evidenced indicating that the polyad version of the effective Hamiltonian has to be extended to include Coriolis and interpolyad anharmonic interactions.  相似文献

The analysis of the influence of an intracavity absorbing dye cell on the spectral characteristics of a free running dye laser leads to the operation of two coupled dye lasers. A powerful flashlamp-pumped dye ring laser pumps a secondary intracavity dye laser with a conversion efficiency of 30 %. Both wavelengths are independently tunable and cover the spectral range from 580 nm to 652 nm in the case of the dye combination rhodamine 6G and cresyl violet.  相似文献
