By studying uniqueness, we show that Pearson's method of moments for mixtures of two normal distributions must be completed. We propose a method to abstract a given stochastic Petri net (SPN). We shall show that the reachability tree of the given SPN is isomorphic to a Markov renewal process. Then, the given SPN is transformed to a state transition system (STS) and the STS is reduced. The reduction of states on STS corresponds to a fusion of series transitions on the SPN. The reduced STS is again transformed to an abstract SPN. We show that it is helpful to use the notion of the conditional firstpassage time from a certain state to the others on the STS to reduce nonessential states, thus places and transitions on the given SPN. Mass functions, that is, the distribution functions of conditional first-passage time between preserved states on the reduced MRP, preserve firing probabilities of fused transitions. Firing probability of the preserved transition also preserves the stochastic properties of the fused transitions.  相似文献

We investigate weak solutions ofLu=?p, whereL= \(\tfrac{1}{2}\Delta + \left\langle {a,\nabla } \right\rangle + b\) and |a|2,b andp belong to the Kato classK d (d≥3). We shall characterize the weak solutions by a probabilistic mean value property. This characterization includes a continuity principle. Our second regularity result states that for a weak solutionu, |?u|2 belongs locally to Kd. Regarding the inhomogeneous Dirichlet problem forL, we shall prove the corresponding gauge theorem and an existence and uniqueness result.  相似文献

We consider a class of problems originating from a Raman laser amplification model, for which the equations can be written as a Poisson system with boundary conditions. Once reformulated, this system becomes an integro-differential equation that we study here in some detail. In particular, we show the existence of a smooth solution under general assumptions, and prove its uniqueness for boundary values that are not too far apart. On a Riemannian manifold the existence (and uniqueness) of subsonic gas flows with prescribed circulation has been previously established (Acta Math.125 1970, 57–73). If the manifold is a torus of revolution then the gas dynamics equation reduces to a nonlinear ordinary differential equation and the flow can be described explicitly. We show that, as the circulations are increased, one obtains a complete family of solutions: smooth subsonic, smooth transonic, transonic with shocks, and smooth supersonic flows.  相似文献

In the present work, we shall construct some non-essential H-closed epireflections of W that are not comparable with any other known H-closed epireflections of W other than the divisible hull and the epicompletion. We show first that the free objects in any H-closed epireflective subcategory must be closed under composition (see Section 2 for a precise definition), and that any epic extension of a free W-object on n generators that is closed under composition is actually the free object on n generators in some H-closed epireflective subcategory of W. We then apply these results to certain ?-groups of almost-piecewise-linear Baire functions on R. By definition, a function f:RR is almost-piecewise-linear if there is a finite point set SR such that f is piecewise-linear on the complement of any neighborhood of S.  相似文献

We are concerned with existence, uniqueness and nonuniqueness of nonnegative solutions to the semilinear heat equation in open subsets of the n-dimensional sphere. Existence and uniqueness results are obtained using L p ?? L q estimates for the semigroup generated by the Laplace?CBeltrami operator. Moreover, under proper assumptions on the nonlinear function, we establish nonuniqueness of weak solutions, when n??? 3; to do this, we shall prove uniqueness of positive classical solutions and nonuniqueness of singular solutions of the corresponding semilinear elliptic problem.  相似文献
