We consider the stochastic heat equation with multiplicative noise \(u_{t}=\frac{1}{2}\Delta u+u\dot{W}\) in ?+×? d , whose solution is interpreted in the mild sense. The noise \(\dot{W}\) is fractional in time (with Hurst index H≥1/2), and colored in space (with spatial covariance kernel f). When H>1/2, the equation generalizes the Itô-sense equation for H=1/2. We prove that if f is the Riesz kernel of order α, or the Bessel kernel of order α<d, then the sufficient condition for the existence of the solution is d≤2+α (if H>1/2), respectively d<2+α (if H=1/2), whereas if f is the heat kernel or the Poisson kernel, then the equation has a solution for any d. We give a representation of the kth order moment of the solution in terms of an exponential moment of the “convoluted weighted” intersection local time of k independent d-dimensional Brownian motions.  相似文献

The long-standing topological Tverberg conjecture claimed, for any continuous map from the boundary of an N(q, d):= (q-1)(d+1)-simplex to d-dimensional Euclidian space, the existence of q pairwise disjoint subfaces whose images have non-empty q-fold intersection. The affine cases, true for all q, constitute Tverberg’s famous 1966 generalization of the classical Radon’s Theorem. Although established for all prime powers in 1987 by Özaydin, counterexamples to the conjecture, relying on 2014 work of Mabillard and Wagner, were first shown to exist for all non-prime-powers in 2015 by Frick. Starting with a reformulation of the topological Tverberg conjecture in terms of harmonic analysis on finite groups, we show that despite the failure of the conjecture, continuous maps below the tight dimension N(q, d) are nonetheless guaranteed q pairwise disjoint subfaces–including when q is not a prime power–which satisfy a variety of “average value” coincidences, the latter obtained as the vanishing of prescribed Fourier transforms.  相似文献

We consider reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces of Dirichlet series with kernels of the form \(k\left( {s,u} \right) = \sum {{a_n}} {n^{ - s - \overline u }}\), and characterize when such a space is a complete Pick space. We then discuss what it means for two reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces to be “the same”, and introduce a notion of weak isomorphism. Many of the spaces we consider turn out to be weakly isomorphic as reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces to the Drury–Arveson space H d 2 in d variables, where d can be any number in {1, 2,...,∞}, and in particular their multiplier algebras are unitarily equivalent to the multiplier algebra of H d 2 . Thus, a family of multiplier algebras of Dirichlet series is exhibited with the property that every complete Pick algebra is a quotient of each member of this family. Finally, we determine precisely when such a space of Dirichlet series is weakly isomorphic as a reproducing kernel Hilbert space to H d 2 and when its multiplier algebra is isometrically isomorphic to Mult(H d 2 ).  相似文献

Define T(d, r) = (d + 1)(r - 1) + 1. A well known theorem of Tverberg states that if nT(d, r), then one can partition any set of n points in Rd into r pairwise disjoint subsets whose convex hulls have a common point. The numbers T(d, r) are known as Tverberg numbers. Reay added another parameter k (2 ≤ kr) and asked: what is the smallest number n, such that every set of n points in Rd admits an r-partition, in such a way that each k of the convex hulls of the r parts meet. Call this number T(d, r, k). Reay conjectured that T(d, r, k) = T(d, r) for all d, r and k. In this paper we prove Reay’s conjecture in the following cases: when k ≥ [d+3/2], and also when d < rk/r-k - 1. The conjecture also holds for the specific values d = 3, r = 4, k = 2 and d = 5, r = 3, k = 2.  相似文献

A linear directed forest is a directed graph in which every component is a directed path. The linear arboricity la(D) of a digraph D is the minimum number of linear directed forests in D whose union covers all arcs of D. For every d-regular digraph D, Nakayama and P′eroche conjecture that la(D) = d + 1. In this paper, we consider the linear arboricity for complete symmetric digraphs, regular digraphs with high directed girth and random regular digraphs and we improve some wellknown results. Moreover, we propose a more precise conjecture about the linear arboricity for regular digraphs.  相似文献

Let (X,d,μ) be a RCD?(K,N) space with \(K\in \mathbb {R}\) and N∈[1,). We derive the upper and lower bounds of the heat kernel on (X,d,μ) by applying the parabolic Harnack inequality and the comparison principle, and then sharp bounds for its gradient, which are also sharp in time. For applications, we study the large time behavior of the heat kernel, the stability of solutions to the heat equation, and show the Lp boundedness of (local) Riesz transforms.  相似文献

Let d ≥ 1 and Z be a subordinate Brownian motion on R~d with infinitesimal generator ? + ψ(?),where ψ is the Laplace exponent of a one-dimensional non-decreasing L′evy process(called subordinator). We establish the existence and uniqueness of fundamental solution(also called heat kernel) pb(t, x, y) for non-local operator L~b= ? + ψ(?) + b ?, where Rb is an Rd-valued function in Kato class K_(d,1). We show that p~b(t, x, y)is jointly continuous and derive its sharp two-sided estimates. The kernel pb(t, x, y) determines a conservative Feller process X. We further show that the law of X is the unique solution of the martingale problem for(L~b, C_c~∞(R~d)) and X is a weak solution of Xt = X0+ Zt + integral from n=0 to t(b(Xs)ds, t ≥ 0).Moreover, we prove that the above stochastic differential equation has a unique weak solution.  相似文献

The edge clique cover sum number (resp. edge clique partition sum number) of a graph G, denoted by scc(G) (resp. scp(G)), is defined as the smallest integer k for which there exists a collection of complete subgraphs of G, covering (resp. partitioning) all edges of G such that the sum of sizes of the cliques is at most k. By definition, scc(G) \({\leqq}\) scp(G). Also, it is known that for every graph G on n vertices, scp(G) \({\leqq n^{2}/2}\). In this paper, among some other results, we improve this bound for scc(G). In particular, we prove that if G is a graph on n vertices with no isolated vertex and the maximum degree of the complement of G is d ? 1, for some integer d, then scc(G) \({\leqq cnd\left\lceil\log \left(({n-1})/(d-1)\right)\right\rceil}\), where c is a constant. Moreover, we conjecture that this bound is best possible up to a constant factor. Using a well-known result by Bollobás on set systems, we prove that this conjecture is true at least for d = 2. Finally, we give an interpretation of this conjecture as an interesting set system problem which can be viewed as a multipartite generalization of Bollobás’ two families theorem.  相似文献

Suppose that d≥1 is an integer, α∈(0,d) is a fixed parameter and let I α be the fractional integral operator associated with d-dimensional Walsh-Fourier series on (0,1] d . Let p, q be arbitrary numbers satisfying the conditions 1≤p<d/α and 1/q=1/p?α/d. We determine the optimal constant K, which depends on α, d and p, such that for any fL p ((0,1] d ) we have
$$ ||I_{\alpha } f||_{L^{q,\infty }((0,1]^{d})}\leq K||f||_{L^{p}((0,1]^{d})}. $$
In fact, we shall prove this inequality in the more general context of probability spaces equipped with a regular tree-like structures. This allows us to obtain this result also for non-integer dimension. The proof exploits a certain modification of the so-called Bellman function method and appropriate interpolation-type arguments. We also present a sharp weighted weak-type bound for I α , which can be regarded as a version of the Muckenhoupt-Wheeden conjecture for fractional integral operators.

In recent years, researchers have shown renewed interest in combinatorial properties of posets determined by geometric properties of its order diagram and topological properties of its cover graph. In most cases, the roots for the problems being studied today can be traced back to the 1970’s, and sometimes even earlier. In this paper, we study the problem of bounding the dimension of a planar poset in terms of the number of minimal elements, where the starting point is the 1977 theorem of Trotter and Moore asserting that the dimension of a planar poset with a single minimal element is at most 3. By carefully analyzing and then refining the details of this argument, we are able to show that the dimension of a planar poset with t minimal elements is at most 2t + 1. This bound is tight for t = 1 and t = 2. But for t ≥ 3, we are only able to show that there exist planar posets with t minimal elements having dimension t + 3. Our lower bound construction can be modified in ways that have immediate connections to the following challenging conjecture: For every d ≥ 2, there is an integer f(d) so that if P is a planar poset with dim(P) ≥ f(d), then P contains a standard example of dimension d. To date, the best known examples only showed that the function f, if it exists, satisfies f(d) ≥ d + 2. Here, we show that lim d→∞ f(d)/d ≥ 2.  相似文献

In this paper we study the relation between two notions of largeness that apply to a set of positive integers, namely Nil d –Bohr0 and SG* k , as introduced by Host and Kra [HK11]. We prove that any Nil d –Bohr0 set is necessarily SG* k where k is effectively bounded in terms of d. This partially resolves a conjecture of Host and Kra.  相似文献

In this paper, we are mainly concerned with semicontinuity of complete lattices and their distributive reflections, introduced by Rav in 1989. We prove that for a complete lattice L, the distributive reflection Ld is isomorphic to the lattice of all radicals determined by principal ideals of L in the set-inclusion order, obtaining a method to depict the distributive reflection of a given lattice. It is also proved that if a complete lattice L is semicontinuous and every semiprime element xL is the largest in d(x), then Ld is continuous whenever the distributive reflector d is Scott continuous. We construct counterexamples to confirm a conjecture and solve two open problems posed by Zhao in 1997.  相似文献

Let G be a real algebraic group, HG an algebraic subgroup containing a maximal reductive subgroup of G, and Γ a subgroup of G acting on G/H by left translations. We conjecture that Γ is virtually solvable provided its action on G/H is properly discontinuous and ΓG/H is compact, and we confirm this conjecture when G does not contain simple algebraic subgroups of rank ≥2. If the action of Γ on G/H (which is isomorphic to an affine linear space An) is linear, our conjecture coincides with the Auslander conjecture. We prove the Auslander conjecture for n ≤ 5.  相似文献

Given E ? ? d , d ≥ 2, define
$D(E) \equiv \left\{ {{{x - y} \over {\left| {x - y} \right|}}:x,y \in E} \right\} \subset {S^{d - 1}}$
to be the set of directions determined by E. We prove that if the Hausdorff dimension of E is greater than d ? 1, then σ(D(E)) > 0, where σ denotes the surface measure on S d?1. In the process, we prove some tight upper and lower bounds for the maximal function associated with the Radon-Nikodym derivative of the natural measure on D. This result is sharp, since the conclusion fails to hold if E is a (d ? 1)-dimensional hyper-plane. This result can be viewed as a continuous analog of a recent result of Pach, Pinchasi, and Sharir ([22, 23]) on directions determined by finite subsets of ? d . We also discuss the case when the Hausdorff dimension of E is precisely d ? 1, where some interesting counter-examples have been obtained by Simon and Solomyak ([25]) in the planar case. In response to the conjecture stated in this paper, T. Orponen and T. Sahlsten ([20]) have recently proved that if the Hausdorff dimension of E equals d ? 1 and E is rectifiable and is not contained in a hyper-pane, the Lebesgue measure of the set of directions is still positive. Finally, we show that our continuous results can be used to recover and, in some cases, improve the exponents for the corresponding results in the discrete setting for large classes of finite point sets. In particular, we prove that a finite point set P ? ? d , d ≥ 3, satisfying a certain discrete energy condition (Definition 3.1) determines ? #P distinct directions.

We prove that for every n ∈ ? there exists a metric space (X, d X), an n-point subset S ? X, a Banach space (Z, \({\left\| \right\|_Z}\)) and a 1-Lipschitz function f: SZ such that the Lipschitz constant of every function F: XZ that extends f is at least a constant multiple of \(\sqrt {\log n} \). This improves a bound of Johnson and Lindenstrauss [JL84]. We also obtain the following quantitative counterpart to a classical extension theorem of Minty [Min70]. For every α ∈ (1/2, 1] and n ∈ ? there exists a metric space (X, d X), an n-point subset S ? X and a function f: S → ?2 that is α-Hölder with constant 1, yet the α-Hölder constant of any F: X → ?2 that extends f satisfies \({\left\| F \right\|_{Lip\left( \alpha \right)}} > {\left( {\log n} \right)^{\frac{{2\alpha - 1}}{{4\alpha }}}} + {\left( {\frac{{\log n}}{{\log \log n}}} \right)^{{\alpha ^2} - \frac{1}{2}}}\). We formulate a conjecture whose positive solution would strengthen Ball’s nonlinear Maurey extension theorem [Bal92], serving as a far-reaching nonlinear version of a theorem of König, Retherford and Tomczak-Jaegermann [KRTJ80]. We explain how this conjecture would imply as special cases answers to longstanding open questions of Johnson and Lindenstrauss [JL84] and Kalton [Kal04].  相似文献

Let L=?Δ+V be a Schrödinger operator on ? d , d≥3. We assume that V is a nonnegative, compactly supported potential that belongs to L p (? d ), for some p>d /2. Let K t be the semigroup generated by ?L. We say that an L 1(? d )-function f belongs to the Hardy space \(H^{1}_{L}\) associated with L if sup?t>0|K t f| belongs to L 1(? d ). We prove that \(f\in H^{1}_{L}\) if and only if R j fL 1(? d ) for j=1,…,d, where R j =(?/? x j )L ?1/2 are the Riesz transforms associated with L.  相似文献

Let HD d (p, q) denote the minimal size of a transversal that can always be guaranteed for a family of compact convex sets in Rd which satisfy the (p, q)-property (pqd + 1). In a celebrated proof of the Hadwiger–Debrunner conjecture, Alon and Kleitman proved that HD d (p, q) exists for all pq ≥ d + 1. Specifically, they prove that \(H{D_d}(p,d + 1)is\tilde O({p^{{d^2} + d}})\).We present several improved bounds: (i) For any \(q \geqslant d + 1,H{D_d}(p,d) = \tilde O({p^{d(\frac{{q - 1}}{{q - d}})}})\). (ii) For q ≥ log p, \(H{D_d}(p,q) = \tilde O(p + {(p/q)^d})\). (iii) For every ? > 0 there exists a p0 = p0(?) such that for every pp0 and for every \(q \geqslant {p^{\frac{{d - 1}}{d} + \in }}\) we have p ? q + 1 ≤ HD d (p, q) ≤ p ? q + 2. The latter is the first near tight estimate of HD d (p, q) for an extended range of values of (p, q) since the 1957 Hadwiger–Debrunner theorem.We also prove a (p, 2)-theorem for families in R2 with union complexity below a specific quadratic bound.  相似文献

Let K be the Calderón-Zygmund convolution kernel on R~d(d≥2).Christ and Journé defined the commutator associated with K and a∈L~∞(R~d)by T_af(x)=p.v.∫_(R~d)K(x-y)m_x,y~a·f(y)dy,which is an extension of the classical Calderón commutator. In this paper, we show that T_a is weighted weak type(1,1) bounded with A,1 weight for d≥2.  相似文献

Let f: {-1, 1}n → [-1, 1] have degree d as a multilinear polynomial. It is well-known that the total influence of f is at most d. Aaronson and Ambainis asked whether the total L1 influence of f can also be bounded as a function of d. Ba?kurs and Bavarian answered this question in the affirmative, providing a bound of O(d3) for general functions and O(d2) for homogeneous functions. We improve on their results by providing a bound of d2 for general functions and O(d log d) for homogeneous functions. In addition, we prove a bound of d/(2p) + o(d) for monotone functions, and provide a matching example.  相似文献

For a subgroup L of the symmetric group \({S_{\ell}}\), we determine the minimal base size of \({GL_d(q) \wr L}\) acting on \({V_d(q)^{\ell}}\) as an imprimitive linear group. This is achieved by computing the number of orbits of GLd(q) on spanning m-tuples, which turns out to be the number of d-dimensional subspaces of Vm(q). We then use these results to prove that for certain families of subgroups L, the affine groups whose stabilisers are large subgroups of \({GL_{d}(q) \wr L}\) satisfy a conjecture of Pyber concerning bases.  相似文献
