Summary.  Ab initio calculations at the HF/6-31G* level of theory for geometry optimization and the MP2/6-31G*//HF/6-31G* level for a single point total energy calculation are reported for (Z,Z)-, (E,Z)-, and (E,E)-cycloocta-1,4-dienes. The C 2-symmetric twist-boat conformation of (Z,Z)-cycloocta-1,4-diene was calculated to be by 3.6 kJ·mol−1 more stable than the C S-symmetric boat-chair form; the calculated energy barrier for ring inversion of the twist-boat conformation via the C S-symmetric boat-boat geometry is 19.1 kJ·mol−1. Interconversion between twist-boat and boat-chair conformations takes place via a half-chair (C 1) transition state which is 43.5 kJ·mol−1 above the twist-boat form. The unsymmetrical twist-boat-chair conformation of (E,Z)-cycloocta-1,4-diene was calculated to be by 18.7 kJ·mol−1 more stable than the unsymmetrical boat-chair form. The calculated energy barrier for the interconversion of twist-boat-chair and boat-chair is 69.5 kJ·mol−1, whereas the barrier for swiveling of the trans-double bond through the bridge is 172.6 kJ·mol−1. The C S symmetric crown conformation of the parallel family of (E,E)-cycloocta-1,4-diene was calculated to be by 16.5 kJ·mol−1 more stable than the C S-symmetric boat-chair form. Interconversion of crown and boat-chair takes place via a chair (C S) transition state which is 37.2 kJ·mol−1 above the crown conformation. The axial- symmetrical twist geometry of the crossed family of (E,E)-cycloocta-1,4-diene is 5.9 kJ·mol−1 less stable than the crown conformation. Corresponding author. Summary.  The synthesis, crystal structure and physical properties of the complex obtained from the reaction between the polyoxometalate anion [PMo12O40]3−, copper(II) and the ligand 1-(2-chloroethyl)tetrazole (teec) are described. This compound has been synthesized as a model for designing materials containing both magnetic polyoxometalate anions and iron(II) spin-crossover cations. The compound, with formula [Cu(teec)5]2[Cu(teec)6][PMo12O40]2·2H2O, consists of alternating layers of polyoxometalates and cationic complexes. Both, five and six coordinated Cu(II) ions are present, each positioned in different layers. Despite these layers having a similar width, the layer of pentacoordinated Cu(II) ions contains twice as many cationic complexes as the layer of hexacoordinated Cu(II) ions. This unusual coexistence of complexes with different coordination number is most likely caused by the steric hindrance induced by the bulky polyoxometalates in the layer of pentacoordinated Cu(II) which prevents the presence of a sixth teec ligand. Ionising radiations, employed in a broad range of dose-rate, together with a complex non-linear computation of reaction mechanisms, allow the determination of boundary values of rate constants concerning sorbitylfurfural (SF) reactivity towards a wide series of oxidant and/or virtually harmful radicals. SF reacts with some radicals (H, SO4-˙, CO3-˙, Br2-˙, CH3˙), produced with both pulse and stationary radiolysis in neutral aqueous solution, having electrophilic and/or oxidative behaviour. The rate constants range from diffusional (k = (7-9) × 109 M-1 s-1) to relatively low values (k = 2 × 105 M-1 s-1). The possibility to observe these reactions, by means of radiolytical techniques, is heavily influenced by dose-rate. A relation between the radical E0NHE and their reactivity with SF is hinted.  相似文献

Preparation, Properties and Electronic Raman Spectra of Bis(chloro)-phthalocyaninatoferrate(III), -ruthenate(III) and -osmate(III) Bis(chloro)phthalocyaninatometalates of FeIII, RuIII and OsIII [MCl2Pc(2-)]?, with an electronic low spin ground state are formed by the reaction of [FeClPc(2-)] resp. H[MX2Pc(2?)] (M = Ru, Os; X = Cl, I) with excess chloride in weakly coordinating solvents (DMF, THF) and are isolated as (n-Bu4N) salts. The asym. M? Cl stretch (νas(MCl)) is observed in the f.i.r. at 288 cm?1 (Fe), 295 cm?1 (Ru), 298 cm?1 (Os), νas(MN) at 330 cm?1 (Fe), 327 cm?1 (Ru), and 317 cm?1 (Os); only νs(OsCl) at 311 cm?1 is resonance Raman (r.r.) enhanced with blue excitation. The m.i.r. and FT-Raman spectra are typical for hexacoordinated phthalocyanines of tervalent metal ions. The UV-vis spectra show besides the characteristic π-π* transitions (B, Q, N, L band) of the Pc ligand a number of extra bands at 12–15 kK and 18–24 kK due to trip-doublet and (Pc→M)CT transitions. The effect of metal substitution is discussed. The r.r. spectra obtained by excitation between the B and Q band (λ0 = 476.5 nm) are dominated by the intraconfigurational transition Γ7 Γ 8 arrising from the spin-orbit splitting of the electronic ground state for FeIII at 536 cm?1, for RuIII at 961 cm?1 and OsIII at 3 028 cm?1. Thus the spin-orbit coupling constant increases very greatly down the iron group: FeIII (357 cm?1)< RuIII (641 cm?1)< OsIII (2 019 cm?1). The Γ7 Γ 8-transition is followed by a very pronounced vibrational finestructure being composed in the r.r. spectra by the coupling with νs(MCl), δ(MClN) and the most intense fundamental vibrations of the Pc ligand. In absorption only vibronically induced transitions are observed for the Ru and Os complex at 1 700-2800 rsp. 3100-5800 em?1 instead of the 0-0 phonon transitions. The most intense lines are attributed to combinations of the intense odd vibrational mo-des at ≈ 740 and 1120 cm?1 with ν5(MCI), δ(MClN).  相似文献

A series of ionic 4-(4′-pyridylthio)-1-methylpyridinium salts with different counteranions (1, I; 2, BF4; 3, PF6; and 4, OTf, where OTf=trifluoromethanesulfonate) have been prepared. Structural analysis reveals that the cation exhibits a variety of stacking structures dependent on the anion. Compound 1 crystallizes in space group P21/n (#14), with a=10.764(3) Å, b=9.601(5) Å, c=13.105(3) Å, β=108.35(2), V=1285.4(8) Å3, and Z=4. In this compound, each cation moiety is stacked in a helical arrangement along the c-axis. Compound 2, which is isomorphous to 1, has space group P21/n (#14), with a=11.647(2) Å, b=9.203(3) Å, c=13.232(2) Å, β=108.42(2), V=1345.6(5) Å3, and Z=4. Compound 3 crystallizes in space group P21/n (#14), with a=8.06(1) Å, b=17.43(1) Å, c=10.30(1) Å, β=103.0(1), V=1410(3) Å3, and Z=4. In this salt, the cation molecules assume a head-to-tail stacking arrangement, forming a polar pseudo 1-D chain. Compound 4 crystallizes in space group Pb? (#2), with a=7.585(4) Å, b=15.443(7) Å, c=6.775(4) Å, α=99.33(4), β=108.35(2)o, γ=98.37(4), V=756.6(7) Å3, and Z=2. The structure of 4 consists of a columnar stacking of pyridine moieties, with the cation moieties surrounded by the counteranions. Calculations show that the 4-(4′-pyridylthio)-1-methylpyridinium cation may be a good building block for second harmonic generation (SHG) materials, even though salts 1-4 crystallized in centrosymmetric structures and were SHG inactive.  相似文献

Chloroacetyl chloride is studied by gas-phase electron diffraction at nozzle-tip tempera- tures of 18, 110 and 215°C. The molecules exist as a mixture of anti and gauche confor- mers with the anti form the more stable. The composition (mole fraction) of the vapor with uncertainties estimated at 2σ is found to be 0.770 (0.070), 0.673 (0.086) and 0.572 (0.086) at 18, 110 and 215°C, respectively. These values correspond to an energy difference with estimated standard deviation ΔEo = Eog -Eoa = 1.3 ± 0.4 kcal mol?1 and an entropy difference ΔSo = Sog -Soa = 0.7 ± 1.1 cal mol?1 K?1. Certain of the diffraction results permit the evaluation of an approximate torsional potential function of the form 2V = V1(1 - cos φ) + V2(1 - cos 2φ) + V3(1 - cos 3φ); the results are V1 = 1.19 ± 0.33, V2 = 0.56 ± 0.20 and V3 = 0.94 ± 0.12, all in kcal mol?1. The results for the distance (ra), angle (∠α) and r.m.s. amplitude parameters obtained at the three temperatures are entirely consistent. At 18°C the more important parameters are, with estimated uncertainties of 2σ, r(C-H) = 1.062(0.030) Å, r(CO) = 1.182(0.004) Å, r(C-C) = 1.521(0.009) Å. r(CO-Cl) = 1.772(0.016) Å, r(CH2-Cl) = 1.782(0.018) Å, ∠C-C-0 = 126.9(0.9)°, ∠CH2-CO-C1 = 110.0(0.7)°,∠CO-CH2-C1 = 112.9(1–7)°, ∠H-C-H = 109.5° (assumed), ∠φ (gauche torsion angle relative to 0° for the anti form) = 116.4(7.7)°, δ (r.m.s. amplitude of torsional vibration in the anti conformer) == 17.5(4.2)°.  相似文献

Summary.  The structures and relative energies of fundamental conformations of cyclopenta-1,2,3-triene, cyclohexa-1,2,3-triene, cylohepta-1,2,3-triene, cycloocta-1,2,3-triene, and cyclonona-1,2,3-triene were calculated by the HF/6-31G* and MP2/6-31G*//HF/6-31G* methods. Only a C 2v symmetric planar conformation is available to cyclopenta-1,2,3-triene and cyclohexa-1,2,3-triene. The calculated energy barrier for ring inversion of the C S symmetric puckerd conformation of cyclohepta-1,2,3-triene via the planar geometry is 62.2 kJ·mol−1. The C 2 symmetric twist conformation of cycloocta-1,2,3-triene was calculated to be the most stable one. Conformational racemization of the twist form takes place via the C S symmetric half-chair geometry, which is by 60.8 kJ·mol−1 less stable than the twist conformer. The C S symmetric chair and unsymmetrical twist-boat conformations of cyclonona-1,2,3-triene were calculated to have similar energies; their interconversion takes place via an unsymmetrical low-energy (18.4 kJ·mol−1) transition state. The twist (C 2) and boat (C S) geometries of cyclonona-1,2,3-triene are higher in energy by 13.2 and 33.9 kJ·mol−1, respectively. Ring inversion in chair and twist-boat conformations takes place via a twist form as intermediate and requires 33.6 kJ·mol−1. Corresponding author. CCl2 free radicals were produced by a pulsed dc discharge of CCl4 in Ar. Ground electronic state CCl2(X) radicals were electronically excited to the A1B1 (0,4,0) vibronic state with an Nd:YAG laser pumped dye laser at 541.52 nm. Experimental quenching data of excited CCl2(A1B1 and a3B1) by O2, N2, NO, N2O, NH3, NH(CH3)2, NH(C2H5)2, and N(C2H5)3 molecules were obtained by observing the time‐resolved total fluorescence signal of the excited CCl2 radical in a cell, which showed a superposition of two exponential decay components under the presence of quencher. The quenching rate constants kA of CCl2(A) state and ka of CCl2(a) state were derived by analyzing the experimental data according to a proposed three‐level model to deal with the CCl2(X1A1, A1B1, a3B1) system. The formation cross sections of complexes of electronically excited CCl2 radicals with O2, N2, NO, N2O, NH3, and aminated molecules were calculated by means of a collision‐complex model. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Summary.  Calcium sulfate occurs in nature in form of three different minerals distinguished by the degree of hydration: gypsum (CaSO4·2H2O), hemihydrate (CaSO4·0.5H2O) and anhydrite (CaSO4). On the one hand the conversion of these phases into each other takes place in nature and on the other hand it represents the basis of gypsum-based building materials. The present paper reviews available phase diagram and crystallization kinetics information on the formation of calcium sulfate phases, including CaSO4-based double salts and solid solutions. Uncertainties in the solubility diagram CaSO4–H2O due to slow crystallization kinetics particularly of anhydrite cause uncertainties in the stable branch of crystallization. Despite several attempts to fix the transition temperatures of gypsum–anhydrite and gypsum–hemihydrate by especially designed experiments or thermodynamic data analysis, they still vary within a range from 42–60°C and 80–110°C. Electrolyte solutions decrease the transition temperatures in dependence on water activity. Dry or wet dehydration of gypsum yields hemihydrates (α-, β-) with different thermal and re-hydration behaviour, the reason of which is still unclear. However, crystal morphology has a strong influence. Gypsum forms solid solutions by incorporating the ions HPO4 2−, HAsO4 2−, SeO4 2−, CrO4 2−, as well as ion combinations Na+(H2PO4) and Ln3+(PO4)3−. The channel structure of calcium sulfate hemihydrate allows for more flexible ion substitutions. Its ion substituted phases and certain double salts of calcium sulfate seem to play an important role as intermediates in the conversion kinetics of gypsum into anhydrite or other anhydrous double salts in aqueous solutions. The same is true for the opposite process of anhydrite hydration to gypsum. Knowledge about stability ranges (temperature, composition) of double salts with alkaline and alkaline earth sulfates (esp. Na2SO4, K2SO4, MgSO4, SrSO4) under anhydrous and aqueous conditions is still very incomplete, despite some progress made for the systems Na2SO4–CaSO4 and K2SO4–CaSO4–H2O. Corresponding author. The reduction of copper (II) chloride by molybdenum and rhenium biscyclopentadienyl hydrides upon their interaction in donor-type solvents has been studied by NMR, X-ray diffraction, and magnetic methods. It is established that the ionic complex [(η5-C5H5)2Re]+[CuCl2]? forms ortho rhombic crystals with a - 13.696(2) Å, b = 7.317(1) Å, c = 5.969(1) Å, space group Pm21n, Z = 2. The cyclopentadienyl rings make a bent-sandwich with an angle between the ring centres and Re atom of 150.1°; the ClCuCl angle being 174.8° and the ReCu minimum distance 4.346(29) Å. The solution of [(η5-C5H5)2Re]+ [CuCl2]? seems to activate the CH bond of the C5H5 rings, which results in the addition of the [(C5H5)(C5H4)ReH]+ hydride ion.  相似文献

The molecular structure and conformation of 2,3-dichloro-1-propene have been determined by gas-phase electron diffraction at nozzle temperatures of 24, 90 and 273°C. The molecules exist as a mixture of two conformers with the chlorine atoms anti (torsion angle ∠φ = 0°) or gauche (∠φ = 109°) to each other and with the anti form the more stable. The composition (mole fraction) of the vapor with uncertainties estimated at 2σ was found to be 0.55 (0.08), 0.49 (0.08) and 0.41 (0.10) at 24, 90 and 273°, respectively. These values correspond to an energy difference with estimated standard deviation ΔE° = E°g-E°a = 0.7 ± 0.3 kcal mol?1 and an entropy difference ΔS° = S°g-S°a = 0.6 ± 0.9 cal mol?1 K?1. Some of the diffraction results, together with spectroscopic observations, permit the evaluation of an approximate torsional potential function of the form 2V = V1 (1 - cos φ) + V2 (1 - cos 2φ) + V3 (1 - cos 3φ); the results are V1 = 4.4 ± 0.5, V2 = ?2.9 ± 0.5 and V3 = 4.8 ± 0.2, all in kcal mol?1. Summary.  Malonic ester derivatives of ethyl and methyl 3,5-dimethyl-4-(1′-iodoneopentyl)-1H-pyrrole-2-carboxylate exhibit restricted rotation about the pyrrole C(4)–C(1′) bond due to the bulky 1′-tert-butyl and malonic ester groups and the ortho effect at C(4) of the sterically crowded 3,5-dimethylpyrrole. The malonates belong to a rare class of atropisomers with restricted rotation about an sp3–sp2 C–C bond, and they undergo diastereomeric separation by TLC and crystallization: the diastereomers are stable in solution at room temperature. A crystal of one of the diastereomers, suitable for X-ray crystallography, gave the relative configuration of the chiral axis and stereogenic center at C(1′). Dynamic NMR studies of the purified diastereomers provide kinetic and thermodynamic parameters associated with the atropisomerism: ΔG  = 132–134 kJ/mol (∼32 kcal/mol) at 383 K in C2D2Cl4 solvent. A new perturbation approach is proposed that enhances the low‐order, perturbative convergence by modifying the zeroth‐order Hamiltonian in a manner that enlarges any small‐energy denominators that may otherwise appear in the perturbative expansion. This intruder state avoidance (ISA) method can be used in conjunction with any perturbative approach, but is most applicable to cases where small energy denominators arise from orthogonal‐space states—so‐called intruder states—that should, under normal circumstances, make a negligible contribution to the target state of interests. This ISA method is used with multireference Møller–Plesset (MRMP) perturbation theory on potential energy curves that are otherwise plagued by singularities when treated with (conventional) MRMP; calculation are performed on the 13Σ state of O2; and the 21Δ, 31Δ, 23Δ, and 33Δ states of AgH. This approach is also applied to other calculations where MRMP is influenced by intruder states; calculations are performed on the 3Πu state of N2, the 3Π state of CO, and the 21A′ state of formamide. A number of calculations are also performed to illustrate that this approach has little or no effect on MRMP when intruder states are not present in perturbative calculations; vertical excitation energies are computed for the low‐lying states of N2, C2, CO, formamide, and benzene; the adiabatic 1A13B1 energy separation in CH2, and the spectroscopic parameters of O2 are also calculated. Vertical excitation energies are also performed on the Q and B bands states of free‐base, chlorin, and zinc–chlorin porphyrin, where somewhat larger couplings exists, and—as anticipated—a larger deviation is found between MRMP and ISA‐MRMP. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The mechanism and stereochemistry of δ-C atom functionalisation in the reactions of secondary straight-chain aliphatic alcohols with lead tetraacetate, ceric ammonium nitrate, and heavy metal (Pb4+, Hg2+, Ag+) salts (AcO)?1, O2?, CO32?-halogen (I2, Br2, Cl2) combinations are discussed. By demonstrating the intermediacy of 5-bromo-2-hexanol, it was confirmed that the dark silver oxidebromine induced cyclisation of 2-hexanol (and alcohols in general) involves (as the other hypohalite reactions) intramolecular 1,5-hydrogen abstraction by alkoxy radicals and formation of δ-bromohydrins. A novel and simple procedure for obtaining tetrahydrofurans from alcohols by way of the hypochlorite reaction, using silver or mercuric salts and chlorine, is described.  相似文献

[EDO-TTF-CONH2•+]2 [TCNQF4•−]2 is a diamagnetic insulating ionic salt with a three-dimensional rock-salt-type structure based on discrete dimers while in the semi-conducting mixed-valence complex, [EDT-TTF-CONH2]2•+[TCNQF4•−], the mixed-valence dimers aggregate into infinite chains interspersed within parallel rows of non-interacting radical anions. It is shown how the robust and adaptable supramolecular amide hydrogen bond tweezers-like motifs common to the two solids simply comply to the 3-to-1 dimensionality reduction upon substitution of O for S.  相似文献
