A molecular beam technique for the determination of sticking probabilities and surface coverages was used in earlier work to investigate the adsorption of nitrogen on tungsten {110}, {111} and {100} single crystal planes. In the present paper these studies have been extended to the {310}, {320} and {411} planes. Absolute sticking probabilities and adatom surface coverages are reported for crystal temperatures between 90 K and 960 K. Crystallographic anisotropy in this system is exemplified by zero coverage sticking probabilities with the crystal at room temperature: {110}, 1̃0?2; {111}, 0.08; {411}, 0.4; {100}, 0.59; {310}, 0.72; {320}, 0.73. Results for planes on the [001] zone are quantitatively described by a general model developed for adsorption on stepped planes as an extension to the precursor-state order-disorder model for adsorption kinetics of King and Wells. It is shown that nitrogen dissociation only takes place at vacant pairs of {100} sites, but that subsequently the chemisorbed adatoms so formed may migrate out onto {110} terraces. The results are critically analysed in terms of the available LEED and work function data for nitrogen on tungsten single crystal planes, and the general model developed by Adams and Germer.  相似文献

The work functions φhklof tungsten single crystal planes as functions of the surface densities Nhkl of the adsorbed potassium have been measured by means of the field emission method. Sealed-off field emission tubes with a Faraday collector and rotatable emitter were used. Another, special tube was made in order to determine the surface density of potassium. The unequilibrated adlayers on {110}, {112}, {100} and {111} tungsten single crystal planes have been investigated. For all the planes investigated the φhkl(Nhkl) dependence exhibited a distinct minimum. An attempt has been made to compare the experimental results with the theoretical models suggested recently.  相似文献

The reaction rates of CO and H2 with preadsorbed oxygen on copper surfaces in the 〈110〉 zone presented by a cylindrical single crystal are found to display strong structural sensitivity. In both cases the highest reaction rates are observed for surface structures involving both steps and low index face terraces, and in particular surfaces vicinal to {311} and between either {111} or {100} are found to exhibit the highest rates of reaction. Possible mechanisms for the reaction are discussed, and the data are extrapolated to investigate the steady state oxidation of CO in a CO/O2 gas mixture over copper surfaces in the 〈110〉 zone. The semi-empirical model describing the steady state oxidation reaction predicts that this reaction also exhibits marked crystallographic anisotropy at CO/O2 partial pressures chosen to maximise the reaction rate.  相似文献

The equilibrium shape of pure nickel and the effect of carbon on changes in the equilibrium shape at 1200°C were investigated. A statistical observation on the size-dependent, time-dependent and carbon-induced morphological evolution of crystallites suggested that the equilibrium crystal shape (ECS) of pure nickel is a polyhedron consisting of {111}, {100}, {110} and {210} surfaces. However, crystals with an extensive proportion of {320} surfaces were also frequently observed. The appearance of {320} surfaces was interpreted as kinetically stabilized metastable surfaces, which survived during the thermal equilibrating process, possibly due to a high nucleation energy barrier for their removal. On the other hand, the ECS of pure nickel was observed to change dramatically into a spherical shape with facets of {111}, {100}, {110} and {210} without exception under a carburized atmosphere, which indicates that carbon not only facilitates surface diffusion by which energetically more stable surfaces can be easily developed but also decreases the surface energy anisotropy. Together with X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy studies, it was proposed that the carbon-induced changes in the ECS are possibly due to a solid solution effect, which could lead to a reduction in the binding energy among atoms in the bulk as well as on the surfaces.  相似文献

The effects of high-electric fields on oxidation of tungsten single crystals in 6 × 10?4 torr of oxygen at 1200–1500 °K were studied by field emission and transmission electron microscopy. Exposure of field emitters to oxygen in the absence of a field resulted in the build-up of emitter tips. Oxidation under the application of a negative or positive field, on the other hand, involved plane faceting and formation of oxide crystallites. Plane faceting was recognized to occur on the {111} and the {112} regions, showing the facetings of the {111} and the {112} planes into the {110} planes, whereas, crystallite formation seemed to take place selectively on the {100} regions. It was suggested by field emission microscopy that negative fields have an additional effect which causes the growth of an oxide crystal on the (110) plane. Transmission electron microscopy of an emitter oxidized in a negative field actually revealed a tiny oxide crystal with a size of ~ 300 Å grown on the developed (110) plane. The crystal exhibited a triangular shadow image strongly indicating an external pyramid-like form.  相似文献

本文报道了从粒子背散射堵塞效应的实验中所发现的单晶Si的{111}晶面粒子堵塞坑的新现象。单晶Si的{111}晶面有两个面间距d(111)(a)和d(111)(b),而{110}晶面只有一个面间距d(110)。由此导致两者的堵塞坑是不同的,我们已从α粒子和质子的Si单晶堵塞效应的实验得到了证实。并由此估计了d(111)(a)和d(111)(b)以及d(110)的2ψ1/2角。据作者了解,到目前为止,国内外还没有人发现此现象。此现象的发现对复杂晶体的堵塞和沟道效应的研究开阔了前景。 关键词:  相似文献

The chemical composition profile across a Cu/MgO {111}-type heterophase interface, produced by the internal oxidation of a Cu(Mg) single-phase alloy at 1173 K, is measured via atom-probe field-ion microscopy with a spatial resolution of 0.121 nm; this resolution is equal to the interplanar spacing of the {222} MgO planes. In particular, we demonstrate directly that the bonding across a Cu/MgO {111}-type heterophase interface, along a <111> direction common to both the Cu matrix and an MgO precipitate, has the sequence Cu|O|Mg... and not Cu|Mg|O...; this result is achieved without any deconvolution of the experimental data. Before determining this chemical sequence, it was established, via high-resolution electron microscopy, that the morphology of an MgO precipitate in a Cu matrix is an octahedron faceted on {111} planes with a cube-on-cube relationship between a precipitate and the matrix; that is, {111}Cu//{222}MgO and <110>Cu // <110>MgO.  相似文献

Clean [111] oriented silver field emitting tips have been exposed to oxygen at 10?3 Torr for 1 min at temperatures ranging from ? 170 to 200°C. From 50 to 200°C, an adsorption structure is formed that is stable in oxygen. The structure is characterized by intensely emitting regions on either side of enlarged {110}, {210} and {310} faces and a dark region in the (111)-{100} zone line directions. For adsorption from ? 170 to 200°C, the structure of the patterns depends distinctly on the adsorption temperature because the coverages are different and adsorption is activated. Oxygen adsorption at 10?3 Torr for 1 min at 0°C causes an increase in the average work function of 1.15 eV. At 0°C, silver was exposed increasingly at 10?6 Torr until 6100 L was reached. The work function increased progressively by 0.61 eV for this exposure. The {111}, {100}, {311}, {211} and {533} faces are attacked first. Then, the {110} faces are attacked followed by the {210} {310} and {320}. Heating of the adsorption layer formed at 0°C produced no changes in pattern and work function up to 100°C. Between 100 and 200°C, a strong decrease in work function and changes in the pattern result from oxygen penetration into the bulk.  相似文献

The surface electric property of Cu2O microcrystal affects the interaction of facets with substance in the aqueous solution, and hence plays a key role in determining the photocatalytic activity. In this paper, the capability of Cu2O microcrystals with exclusive {111}, {110} or both lattice surfaces in reducing Ag+ to Ag0 were investigated. Ag particles selectively deposited on {111} surfaces of Cu2O, while not on {110} surfaces. The different behaviors of the two surfaces are mainly attributed to their different electric properties: negatively-charged {111} surfaces absorb Ag+ ions while positively-charged {110} surfaces repel them. Raman scattering of Cu2O {111} surfaces was enhanced by the photo-deposition of Ag particles.  相似文献

在本文中,用金相和X射线方法,研究了24个取向不同的钼单晶体在-80℃(-50℃)、27℃、1000℃和~2000℃拉伸后的情况。分析研究的结果,认为观察到的{112}、{123}、{145}等滑移痕迹,是由于在两组不平行的{110}面上,沿着同一个<111>方向组合滑移后构成的外观面貌,而滑移面是密排的{110}面。外观滑移面(从滑移痕迹测定出的)会随样品取向不同而发生变化。当变形温度改变时,同一个样品的外观滑移面可能改变,也可能不改变,这要由样品的取向来决定。 关键词:  相似文献

A new type of a diamond crystal habit is obtained by the recrystallization in the formation of which tetragontrioctahedral faces {311} play a major role. At appropriate conditions the forms {111}, {110}, {311} are equideveleoped. When temperature rises an advantageous development of octahedral faces occurs. 运用分子动力学方法,对γ-TiAl金属间化合物的面缺陷能(层错能和孪晶能)进行了研究. 计算得到γ-TiAl不同滑移系(或孪生系)的整体堆垛层错能曲线,结果表明,γ-TiAl较一般fcc晶体结构的金属可动滑移系(孪生系)的数量减少,在外界条件下呈脆性. 研究孪生系(1/6)〈112〉{111}的弛豫的整体堆垛层错(GSF)能和整体孪晶(GTF)能曲线,对不稳定层错能γusf、稳定层错能γsf和不稳定孪晶能γusf值进行分析,可以预知, γ-TiAl的主要变形机理为孪生系(1/6)〈112〉{111}的孪生和普通滑移系(1/6)〈110〉{111}的滑移,以及超滑移系(1/2)〈011〉{111}的滑移. 关键词: γ-TiAl')" href="#">γ-TiAl 堆垛层错能 孪晶能 分子动力学  相似文献

The energy loss of channeled and blocked α-particles of ThC transmitted parallel to the {111} and also the {110} planes of germanium and silicon was investigated. In the spectrum of the transmittedα-particles measured with a small-acceptance-angle detector, in addition to the random and normally channeled α-groups a separated group with a high energy loss was observed in the direction of the {111} planes, while in the direction of the {110} planes this group is not well separated from the randomα-group. A model is proposed which describes this high energy loss for observation in the direction of either plane. In agreement with this model a higher yield ofα-particles with high energy loss in the {111} planes in comparison with the {110} planes of germanium and silicon was measured.  相似文献

Anomalous intensity distribution in the EPR spectrum from tetragonal [Ni(CN)4.Cl2]5- complex in γ-irradiated NaCl:Ni(CN)2-4 has been observed. A detailed EPR study revealed that the planar Ni(CN)2-4 complex preferentially enters the lattice with the plane parallel to the {100} growth planes of the crystal. Consequently, regions in the crystal could be found where the complex ions are predominantly oriented parallel to one of the three {100} planes of the crystal. Possible mechanisms of incorporation of the ions are discussed.  相似文献

Surface structure, composition, and some field-electron emission properties are examined for thermally annealed titanium carbide emitters. As a result of high temperature heating, low-index planes of {100} and {111} become facetted and are observed as dark areas in field-electron emission patterns. Electrons are emitted predominantly from the {110} planes. The surface composition becomes enriched with carbon when the carbon deficient titanium carbide, TiC0.71, is heated at high temperatures in vacuum better than 10?7 Pa. The topmost (110) layer consists of both Ti and C atoms. The instability in the electron emission current of titanium carbide is considered to be due to the local work function change caused by an interaction between vacuum residual gases and chemically active titanium atoms on the emitter surface.  相似文献

Changes in the nature of the binding site of chemisorbed CO on the Rh{111} and Rh{331} single crystal surfaces during adsorption and desorption have been monitored by X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) and Low Energy Electron Diffraction (LEED). Two bonding states of molecular CO have been identified from the O 1s photoemission line. These states are assigned as atop and bridge-bonded species and are observed to be coverage and temperature dependent. On both surfaces atop sites are populated first and at higher CO coverages bridge sites are filled. On Rh{111} the bridge sites are filled at a CO coverage of θCO ~ 0.50 and their presence is correlated with a change in the LEED pattern. The presence of the step atoms on the Rh{331} surface markedly influenced the sequential filling of binding sites in comparison to that observed on the Rh{111} surface. A comparison of our data to previous Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy (EELS) work on Rh{111} is in remarkable quantitative agreement with EELS peak heights.  相似文献

The thermal stability of CH3NCO adsorbed on Cu{110} and Pt{110} is investigated using HREELS, TPD, and ARUPS. CH3NCO desorbs largely without fragmentation from Cu{110}, but on Pt{110} only about 20% of the adsorbed CH3NCO desorbs intact, with 80% decomposing on the surface at T > 200 K into CO(a), H(a), CHx(a), N(a) and NHy(a) fragments. The kinetics of the surface decomposition were characterised for 220 < T < 300 K by HREELS and the activation energy for CH3NCO decomposition was found to vary strongly as a function of coverage.  相似文献
