In the present paper, we investigate the convergence and the approximation order of the localized Szsz–Mirakjan operators, and obtain some new results to improve the results due to Omey [Note on operators of Szsz–Mirakjan type, J. Approx. Theory 47 (1986) 246–254].     

Nonlinear structure of some classical quasi-Banach spaces and -spaces

We investigate the Lipschitz structure of ℓ_p and L_p for 0<p<1 as quasi-Banach spaces and as metric spaces (with the metric induced by the p-norm) and show that they are not Lipschitz isomorphic. We prove that the -space L₀ is not uniformly homeomorphic to any other L_p space, that the L_p spaces for 0<p<1 embed isometrically into one another, and reduce the problem of the uniform equivalence amongst L_p spaces to their Lipschitz equivalence as metric spaces.     

Strong convergence theorems by hybrid method for asymptotically -strict pseudo-contractive mapping in Hilbert space

In this paper, we introduce the hybrid method of modified Mann’s iteration for an asymptotically k-strict pseudo-contractive mapping. Then we prove that such a sequence converges strongly to P_F(T)x₀. This main theorem improves the result of Issara Inchan [I. Inchan, Strong convergence theorems of modified Mann iteration methods for asymptotically nonexpansive mappings in Hilbert spaces, Int. J. Math. Anal. 2 (23) (2008) 1135–1145] and concerns the result of Takahashi et al. [W. Takahashi, Y. Takeuchi, R. Kubota, Strong convergence theorems by hybrid methods for families of nonexpansive mappings in Hilbert space, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 341 (2008) 276–286], and many others.     

Interlacing and spacing properties of zeros of polynomials, in particular of orthogonal and -minimal polynomials,

Let be a sequence of polynomials with real coefficients such that uniformly for [α-δ,β+δ] with G(eⁱ)≠0 on [α,β], where 0α<βπ and δ>0. First it is shown that the zeros of are dense in [α,β], have spacing of precise order π/n and are interlacing with the zeros of p_n+1(cos) on [α,β] for every nn₀. Let be another sequence of real polynomials with uniformly on [α-δ,β+δ] and on [α,β]. It is demonstrated that for all sufficiently large n the zeros of p_n(cos) and strictly interlace on [α,β] if on [α,β]. If the last expression is zero then a weaker kind of interlacing holds. These interlacing properties of the zeros are new for orthogonal polynomials also. For instance, for large n a simple criteria for interlacing of zeros of Jacobi polynomials on [-1+,1-], >0, is obtained. Finally it is shown that the results hold for wide classes of weighted L_q-minimal polynomials, q[1,∞], linear combinations and products of orthogonal polynomials, etc.

The results of this paper concern the effective cardinal structure of the subsets of [ω₁]^<ω₁, the set of all countable subsets of ω₁. The main results include dichotomy theorems and theorems which show that the effective cardinal structure is complicated.     

Existence and multiplicity of solutions for semilinear elliptic equations with Hardy terms and Hardy–Sobolev critical exponents

Some existence and multiplicity results are obtained for solutions of semilinear elliptic equations with Hardy terms, Hardy–Sobolev critical exponents and superlinear nonlinearity by the variational methods and some analysis techniques.     

Finding induced trees

Let G=(V(G),E(G)) be a finite connected undirected graph and WV(G) a subset of vertices. We are searching for a subset XV(G) such that WX and the subgraph induced on X is a tree. -completeness results and polynomial time algorithms are given assuming that the cardinality of W is fixed or not. Besides we give complexity results when X has to induce a path or when G is a weighted graph. We also consider problems where the cardinality of X has to be minimized.     

Optimality and invexity in optimization problems in Banach algebras (spaces)

In this paper we introduce into nonsmooth optimization theory in Banach algebras a new class of mathematical programming problems, which generalizes the notion of smooth KT-(p,r)-invexity. In fact, this paper focuses on the optimality conditions for optimization problems in Banach algebras, regarding the generalized KT-(p,r)-invexity notion and Kuhn–Tucker points.     

The equation on weakly pseudo-convex CR manifolds of dimension 3

Let M be a smooth, compact, orientable, weakly pseudoconvex manifold of dimension 3, embedded in (N2), of codimension one or more, and endowed with the induced CR structure. Assuming that the tangential Cauchy-Riemann operator has closed range in L²(M) in order to rule out the Rossi example, we push regularity up to show has closed range in H^s(M) for all s>0. We then use the Szegö projection to show there is a smooth solution for the problem given smooth data. The results are obtained via microlocalization by piecing together estimates for functions and (0,1) forms that hold on different microlocal regions.     

Stability for parametric implicit vector equilibrium problems

In this paper, we consider a class of parametric implicit vector equilibrium problems in Hausdorff topological vector spaces where a mapping f and a set K are perturbed by parameters and λ, respectively. We establish sufficient conditions for the upper semicontinuity and lower semicontinuity of the solution set mapping S:Λ₁×Λ₂→2^X for such parametric implicit vector equilibrium problems.     

Pseudoprime factorizations of integer matrices

We give a method of factoring integer matrices in into components such that the factorization is not unique unless certain information is known. In Section 2, we introduce this method of factorization and provide theorems which establish its well-definedness. In Section 3, we construct a matrix in as a product of specific types of matrices and establish an algorithm for factoring the result uniquely given an amount of information.     

A non-splitting theorem in the enumeration degrees

We complete a study of the splitting/non-splitting properties of the enumeration degrees below by proving an analog of Harrington’s non-splitting theorem for the enumeration degrees. We show how non-splitting techniques known from the study of the c.e. Turing degrees can be adapted to the enumeration degrees.     

Projective functors for algebraic groups

We investigate the regular subquotient category introduced by Soergel in [W. Soergel, On the relation between intersection cohomology and representation theory in positive characteristic, J. Pure Appl. Algebra 152 (1–3) (2000) 311–335]. A detailed study of projective functors enables one to relate those categories for semi-simple algebraic group G and its subgroup schemata G_rT. As an application we derive some information about the characters of tilting modules for G.     

The Koszul dual of a weakly Koszul module

We study the so-called weakly Koszul modules and characterise their Koszul duals. We show that the (adjusted) associated graded module of a weakly Koszul module exactly determines the homology modules of the Koszul dual. We give an example of a quasi-Koszul module which is not weakly Koszul.
