There exists a large variety of different techniques used to generalize the Prandtl-Reuss relations of small strain elasto-plasticity to finite strains. Obviously, any systematic study of such generalization techniques should be based on some sound principles. In this work, one aspect is taken into account, concerning arbitrary isochoric change of the local reference configuration. We analyze some models of finite strain elasto-plasticity in order to find out if the specific choice of the reference configuration can affect the predicted stress response. A stabilized mixed finite element formulation for four-noded tetrahedral elements is introduced for robustly solving small and large deformation problems. The uniqueness of the formulation lies within the fact that it is general in that it can be applied to any type of material model without requiring specialized geometric or material parameters. To overcome the problem of volumetric locking, a mixed element formulation that utilizes linear displacement and pressure fields was implemented. The stabilization is provided by enhancing the rate of deformation tensor with a term derived using a bubble function approach. The element was implemented through a user-programmable element of the commercial finite element software ANSYS. Using the ANSYS platform, the performance of the element was evaluated by comparing the predicted results with those obtained using mixed quadratic tetrahedral elements and hexahedral elements with a B-bar formulation. Based on the quality of the results, the new element formulation shows significant potential for use in simulating complex engineering processes.  相似文献

A novel two dimensional finite volume (FV) approach to the solution of elastic / visco-plastic solid mechanics problems is described. The numerical procedure is an extension of that developed by Fryer et al. for linear elastic materials and utilizes an unstructured mesh. The procedure is compared favorably with conventional finite element (FE) formulations with respect to both accuracy and CPU time. A number of test problems demonstrate the ability of the FV procedure to model a range of boundary constraints, in addition to mechanical and thermal loads. It might be argued from the work reported here that the FV approach shows the potential to be at least as effective as conventional FE formulations in representing nonlinear solid mechanics behavior.  相似文献

A finite element procedure for hyper-elastic materials such as rubber has been developed to estimate the temperature rise during cyclic loading. The irreversible mechanical work developed in rubber has been used to determine the heat generation rate for carrying out thermal analysis. The evaluation of the heat energy is dependent on the strains. The finite element analysis assumes Green–Lagrangian strain displacement relations, Mooney–Rivlin strain energy density function for constitutive relationship, incremental equilibrium equations, and Total Lagrangian approach and the stress and strain of the rubber-like materials are evaluated using a degenerated shell element with assumed strain field technique, considering both material and geometric non-linearities. A transient heat conduction analysis has been carried out to estimate the temperature rise for different time steps in rubber-like materials using Galerkin's formulations. A numerical example is presented and the computed temperature values for various load steps agree closely with the experimental results reported in the literature.  相似文献

We construct a CAT(0) group containing a finitely presented subgroup with infinitely many conjugacy classes of finite-order elements. Unlike previous examples (which were based on right-angled Artin groups) our ambient CAT(0) group does not contain any rank 3 free abelian subgroups. We also construct examples of groups of type F n inside mapping class groups, Aut(), and Out() which have infinitely many conjugacy classes of finite-order elements.   相似文献

Two discrete, geometrically finite subgroups of the isometries of hyperbolic n-space () are defined whose intersection is infinitely generated. This settles, in dimensions 4 and above, a long-standing question in Kleinian and hyperbolic groups reiterated at a problem session chaired by Bernard Maskit at the AMS meeting 898, March 3-5, 1995, a conference in honor of Bernard Maskit's 60th birthday.

The aim of this article is to describe a colocated finite volume approximation of the incompressible Navier‐Stokes equation and study its stability. One of the advantages of colocated finite volume space discretizations over staggered space discretizations is that all the variables share the same location; hence, the possibility to more easily use complex geometries and hierarchical decompositions of the unknowns. The time discretization used in the scheme studied here is a projection method. First, we give the full discretization of the incompressible Navier‐Stokes equations, then, we state the stability result and prove it following the methods of Marion and Temam. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We present a systematic way to generate critically finite endomorphisms of PnPn. These maps arise in the context of Teichmüller theory, specifically in Thurston?s topological characterization of rational maps. The dynamical objects for the endomorphisms correspond to central objects from Thurston?s theorem. Our theorems build infinitely many of these endomorphisms; in fact, a large number of examples of critically finite endomorphisms of PnPn found in the literature arise from this construction.  相似文献

A nonlinear system of two coupled partial differential equations models miscible displacement of one incompressible fluid by another in a porous medium. A sequential implicit time‐stepping procedure is defined, in which the pressure and Darcy velocity of the mixture are approximated by a mixed finite element method and the concentration is approximated by a combination of a modified symmetric finite volume element method and the method of characteristics.
