We report on a passively Q-switched end pumped Nd:YLF laser including a noncritically phase-matched KTP singly resonant intracavity
optical parametric oscillator (IOPO-KTP). For the Q-switching operation we have used Cr:YAG saturable absorber. The optimized
passively Q-switched Nd:YLF laser without IOPO generated linearly polarized pulses of 11.5 ns and 1.07 mJ at 1047 nm. The
conversion efficiency of the optimized Q-switched pulse energy at 1047 nm to 1547 nm of a signal approached about 47%. For
optimizing both Nd:YLF laser and IOPO we have numerically solved a theoretical model. We have achieved 1.6-ns duration pulses
at 1547 nm with energy of 0.5 mJ and peak power of above 300 kW. The beam quality was excellent (M2 ≈1). 相似文献

In an actively mode-locked laser, self-phase modulation can make pulse shorter at the expanse of causing instability at high pumping power. Using fast switching on the acousto-optic modulator, we can generate an actively mode-locked pulse train with shorter pulse width and higher average power than that driven by a sinusoidal signal. A 9-ps pulse train was generated in a mode-locked laser with an average power of 600 mW whose power level, to our knowledge, is the highest for diode-pumped and mode-locked Nd:YLF lasers. 相似文献

The aim of work was to characterize a simple oscillator consisted of Tm:YLF crystal end-pumped by a fiber coupled diode laser
and active Q-switch with tunability option. About 7 W with near 35% slope efficiency was demonstrated in a free-running mode.
The divergence angle was about 4.3 mrad and estimated parameter M2 < 1.3. Continuous tuning by means of Lyot’s filter, consisted of 2 quartz plates in the range of 1879.0–1939.4 nm with less
than 1-nm linewidth, was achieved. For the best case (10-ms pump pulse duration, 42-A pump current corresponding to 266 mJ
of pump energy), the Q-switched energy was 10.5 mJ with pulse duration of 22 ns corresponding to near 0.5 MW peak power. The
2.5 W of average power with 12.6-kW peak power and 2000-Hz repetition rate was demonstrated for cw pumping regime. 相似文献

We report an efficient single-frequency ring laser pumped directly into emitting level by a fiber-coupled laser diode (FCLD) at 885 nm for the first time. 4.8 W laser at 1064 nm was obtained in a 0.7 at % Nd:YAG with 63% slope efficiency and 51.7% light-light efficiency in absorbed pump power. At the same time, the line width of the longitudinal mode was about 50 MHz, and the beam was nearly diffraction-limited with M2 ≈ 1.07. 相似文献

pumping system. Compared with a central uniform distribution, a centrally depressed distribution is found to have a lower
thermal lensing effect and a higher optical-to-optical efficiency for operations performed using the same resonator parameters
or within a similar stable range, and the improvement in optical-to-optical efficiency is explained as a result of a reduction
in thermally induced aberrations.

We report laser operation in planar and linear Nd:YLF waveguide structures grown by liquid-phase epitaxy (LPE). We could reduce the relatively high threshold of 115-mW incident pump power observed for the planar waveguide to 8 mW in a ridge-type structure that we obtained by mechanical polishing and subsequent growth of a cladding layer. Substantial improvements seem possible with reduction of the losses caused by imperfect end-face reflection and scattering, as well as by use of techniques capable of producing smaller structures than the 40-mum-wide triangular ridge cross section that was obtained with polishing. Since the LPE technique is applicable to other activator ions as well, it might offer a route to development of low-threshold upconversion lasers. 相似文献

An eye-safe KTA OPO pumped by a Nd:YLF laser is demonstrated and a comparison with that pumped by a Nd:YVO4 laser is performed. Although the slope efficiency of the continuous-wave free-running Nd:YLF laser is lower than that of the Nd:YVO4 laser, the performance of KTA OPOs pumped by the Q-switched Nd:YLF laser is better, especially at lower repetition rates. The slope efficiency of KTA OPO pumped by a Nd:YLF laser is 14.6% at 30 kHz and 11.04% at 10 kHz. The better energy storage ability of Nd:YLF makes it an excellent laser medium in IOPOs. 相似文献

An electro-optical cavity-dumped 20 Hz Ce:Nd:YAG laser with an optimized thermal-insensitive concavo-convex cavity for aesthetic medicine was demonstrated. The pulse width remained constant at 6.0 ns. The maximum output energy and peak power were 120 mJ and 20 MW, respectively. The average output energy was very stable. A high-average-power conduction-cooled diode-pumped Nd:YLF rod laser has been developed. A new conduction-cooled side-pumping scheme with a solid prismatic pump-light confinement cavity was employed. A transparent, high-thermal-conductivity MgF>(2) prism was used as a highly efficient pump cavity as well as a low-thermal-resistance heat spreader. The pumping efficiency and thermal resistance of the cavity were 85% and 0.20 degrees C degrees W, respectively. When this scheme was combined with heat pipes for heat removal, a maximum average output power of 72 W was demonstrated, with an optical slope efficiency as high as 49%. 相似文献

We report the high efficiency of solar pumped laser. The sunlight is concentrated by the concentrator system, which is composed by the Fresnel lens and the cone-channel condenser. The power density of sunlight concentrated by the concentrator system surpasses the lasing threshold for pumping laser. In the experiment, the sunlight concentrated is coupled into the conical chamber pumping Nd:YAG laser media. Laser output of 3.5 W has been achieved; the collect efficiency is 3.5 W/m2. The conversion efficiency is 1.0% from solar power into laser, and the slope efficiency is achieved 1.86%. 相似文献

High efficiency laser performance of 2 mm diameter and 20 mm long Nd:YAG crystal rod transversely pumped by laser diode array is presented. Using the directly side-coupled geometry enclosed by cylindrical pump cavity plated with gold, we obtained long pulse energy of 4.6 mJ corresponding to optical-to-optical slope efficiency of 37%. The complete solid-state Nd:YAG laser is described to be simple, compact and highly efficient. Q-switching of the laser is also reported. 相似文献

We have developed a novel electro-optic Q-switched diode-end-pumped solid slab laser that combines high energy, short pulse width, high repetition rates, and diffraction-limited beam quality. With two partially end-pumped Nd:YLF slabs and a 100 mm long off-axis positive branch stable-unstable oscillator, 24.2 mJ, 7.1 ns electro-optic Q-switched pulse at 1 kHz repetition rate with a beam quality of M(x)(2)=1.4 and M(y)(2)=1.3 was generated. In this paper, we report two crystals Tm:YLF laser pumped by a fiber coupled diode laser with total power of 180 W at 792
nm. When the incident power reached up to 117.0 and 37.3 W of the emission wave-length at 1.91 μm was achieved. Through linear
fit, the corresponding slope efficiency of 38.5%, optical-to-optical conversion efficiency of 31.9% and the beam quality factor
of M
2 ∼ 1.1 were obtained, indicating nearly diffraction limited beam propagation. To our best knowledge, this is the best beam

We report a compact Ho:YAG laser that is intracavity pumped by a diode-pumped Tm:YLF laser. Both lasers exhibit pulse mode behavior. Operating both crystals at room temperature (25 degrees C), we obtained 1.6 W of average output at 2.09 microm from the Ho:YAG laser for 15.4 W of diode power incident upon the Tm:YLF rod and a slope efficiency of 21%. 相似文献
