The critical behaviour of SU(n) quantum “spin” chains, Wess-Zumino-Witten σ-models and grassmanian σ-models at topological angle θ = π (of possible relevance to the quantum Hall effect) is reexamined. It is argued that an additional Zn symmetry is generally necessary to stabilize the massless phase. This symmetry is not present for the σ-models for n > 2 and is only present for certain representations of “spin” chains.  相似文献

We consider nonlinear gauged σ-models with Kähler domain and target. For a special choice of potential these models admit Bogomolny (or self-duality) equations — the so-called vortex equations. Here we describe the space of solutions and energy spectrum of the vortex equations when the gauge group is a torus T n , the domain is compact, and the target is We also obtain a large family of solutions when the target is a compact Kähler toric manifold.  相似文献

We study general two-dimensional σ-models which do not possess manifest Lorentz invariance. We show how demanding that Lorentz invariance is recovered as an emergent on-shell symmetry constrains these σ-models. The resulting actions have an underlying group-theoretic structure and resemble Poisson–Lie T-duality invariant actions. We consider the one-loop renormalization of these models and show that the quantum Lorentz anomaly is absent. We calculate the running of the couplings in general and show, with certain non-trivial examples, that this agrees with that of the T-dual models obtained classically from the duality invariant action. Hence, in these cases solving constraints before and after quantization are commuting operations.  相似文献

In this paper, we mainly study the magnetic properties of the interacting Kane-Mele model with staggered on-site potential. Due to the absence of spin rotation symmetry, there exists a spin anisotropic energy term in the effective nonlinear σ model (NLσM). Based on the NLσM with spin anisotropic energy term, we derive a complex phase diagram and find that there exist quantum spin liquid states at the moderate coupling region.  相似文献

We compute the phase diagram in the N→∞ limit for lattice RPN−1, CPN−1 and QPN−1 σ-models with the quartic action, and more generally for mixed isovector/isotensor models. We show that the N=∞ limit exhibits phase transitions that are forbidden for any finite N. We clarify the origin of these pathologies by examining the exact solution of the one-dimensional model: we find that there are complex zeros of the partition function that tend to the real axis as N→∞. We conjecture the correct phase diagram for finite N as a function of the spatial dimension d. Along the way, we prove some new correlation inequalities for a class of N-component σ-models, and we obtain some new results concerning the complex zeros of confluent hypergeometric functions.  相似文献

We give a condition which is sufficient to imply that the renormalized HamiltonianH′ is defined. Roughly speaking, the condition is that the collection of measures μσ′ is in the high-temperature phase uniformly in the block spin configuration σ′. The proof of this result uses methods of Olivieri and Picco. We use our theorem to prove that the first iteration of the renormalization group transformation is defined in the following two examples: decimation with spacingb = 2 on the square lattice with β < 1.36β c and the Kadanoff transformation with parameterp on the trian gular lattice in a subset of the β,p plane that includes values of β greater than β c .  相似文献

We study the effect of the spin-phonon coupling on spin transport in the S = 1 one-dimensional Heisenberg antiferromagnet. The spin conductivity is calculated using the modified spin wave theory and the Kubo formalism of transport. We calculate the regular part of the spin conductivity, σ reg (ω), as function of the frequency at finite temperature. We obtain a strong effect of the magnon-phonon interaction on magnon transport.  相似文献

Gauge invariant unified field structures on a manifold B are introduced. Necessary and sufficient conditions for their existence are studied. The connection with charge is studied; it is shown that such gauge invariant structures, e.g. quantizable dynamical systems, over simply connected manifolds B are completely classified by charge. Complex analytic gauge invariant unified field structures are studied. These structures over a complex analytic manifold B whose square is the canonical line bundle are in bijective correspondence with the spin structures on B. Finally, a class of homogeneous quantizable dynamical systems are shown not to carry spin structure.  相似文献

Antiferroelectric spin wave resonance (AFESWR) and electric spin moment, mathematically predicted by Dirac, were identified for the first time. It has also been found, in addition to well-known SSH-model, that topological quasiparticles, called σ-quasiparticles, can be formed in CC σ-bonds of organic polymers. Topological σ-polaron lattice is proposed to be responsible for the observed AFESWR both in starting polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) films and in carbynoid films, which are the products of PVDF-dehydrohalogenation. Dynamical systems of σ-polarons and π-solitons, identified in the samples studied, are substantionally nonlinear and can be registered in stochastic regime by usual IR absorption measurements.  相似文献

We present solutions of a fermion-boson model based on the supersymmetric (Susy) extension of theU(N) σ-models with the Wess-Zumino-Witten (WZW) term. We study some properties of these solutions. We show that the ideal relativistic spinning gas at complete thermodynamical equilibrium is a fluid with a non-vanishing spin density tensor σμν. After having obtained the expression of the local spin-dependent phase-space density f(x, p)στ in the Boltzmann approximation, we derive the spin density tensor and show that it is proportional to the acceleration tensor Ωμν constructed with the Frenet-Serret tetrad. We recover the proper generalization of the fundamental thermodynamical relation, involving an additional term −(1/2)Ωμνσμν. We also show that the spin density tensor has a non-vanishing projection onto the four-velocity field, i.e. tμ = σμνuν ≠ 0, in contrast to the common assumption tμ = 0, known as Frenkel condition, in the thus-far proposed theories of relativistic fluids with spin. We briefly address the viewpoint of the accelerated observer and inertial spin effects.  相似文献
