Condition monitoring of rotating machinery is important to extend the mechanical system's reliability and operational life. However, in many cases, useful information is often overwhelmed by strong background noise and the defect frequency is difficult to be extracted. Stochastic resonance (SR) is used as a noise-assisted tool to amplify weak signals in nonlinear systems, which can detect weak signals of interest submerged in the noise. The multiscale noise tuning SR (MSTSR), which is originally based on discrete wavelet transform (DWT), has been applied to identify the fault characteristics and has also increased the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) improvement of SR. Therefore, a novel tri-stable SR method with multiscale noise tuning (MST) is proposed to extract fault signatures for fault diagnosis of rotating machinery. The wavelet packets transform (WPT) based MST can obtain better denoising effect and higher SNR of resonance output compared with the traditional SR method. Thus the proposed method is well-suited for enhancement of rotating machine fault identification, whose effectiveness has been verified by means of practical vibration signals carrying fault information from bearings. Finally, it can be concluded that the proposed method has practical value in engineering.  相似文献

Continuous online monitoring of rotating machines is necessary to assess real-time health conditions so as to enable early detection of operation problems and thus reduce the possibility of downtime. Rolling element bearings are crucial parts of many machines and there has been an increasing demand to find effective and reliable health monitoring technique and advanced signal processing to detect and diagnose the size and location of incipient defects. Condition monitoring of rolling element bearings, comprises four main stages which are, statistical analysis, fault diagnostics, defect size calculation, and prognostics. In this paper the effect of defect size, operating speed, and loading conditions on statistical parameters of acoustic emission (AE) signals, using design of experiment method (DOE), have been investigated to select the most sensitive parameters for diagnosing incipient faults and defect growth on rolling element bearings. A modified and effective signal processing algorithm is designed to diagnose localized defects on rolling element bearings components under different operating speeds, loadings, and defect sizes. The algorithm is based on optimizing the ratio of Kurtosis and Shannon entropy to obtain the optimal band pass filter utilizing wavelet packet transform (WPT) and envelope detection. Results show the superiority of the developed algorithm and its effectiveness in extracting bearing characteristic frequencies from the raw acoustic emission signals masked by background noise under different operating conditions. To experimentally measure the defect size on rolling element bearings using acoustic emission technique, the proposed method along with spectrum of squared Hilbert transform are performed under different rotating speeds, loading conditions, and defect sizes to measure the time difference between the double AE impulses. Measurement results show the power of the proposed method for experimentally measuring size of different fault shapes using acoustic emission signals.  相似文献

This paper proposes a multi-fault detection method based on the adaptive spectral kurtosis (ASK) analysis of the vibration signal from single sensor. A theoretical model of multiple bearing faults is established in this paper. Compared with the kurtogram and protrugram techniques, the proposed method can more effectively extract signatures of multiple bearing faults even in the presence of strong background noise. The performance of the proposed method in fault detection of the rolling element bearings is validated using simulation data and experimental signals from a bearing with multiple faults and two faulty bearings.  相似文献

The goal of the paper is to present a solution to improve the fault detection accuracy of rolling bearings. The method is based on variational mode decomposition (VMD), multiscale permutation entropy (MPE) and the particle swarm optimization-based support vector machine (PSO-SVM). Firstly, the original bearing vibration signal is decomposed into several intrinsic mode functions (IMF) by using the VMD method, and the feature energy ratio (FER) criterion is introduced to reconstruct the bearing vibration signal. Secondly, the multiscale permutation entropy of the reconstructed signal is calculated to construct multidimensional feature vectors. Finally, the constructed multidimensional feature vector is fed into the PSO-SVM classification model for automatic identification of different fault patterns of the rolling bearing. Two experimental cases are adopted to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Experimental results show that the proposed method can achieve a higher identification accuracy compared with some similar available methods (e.g., variational mode decomposition-based multiscale sample entropy (VMD-MSE), variational mode decomposition-based multiscale fuzzy entropy (VMD-MFE), empirical mode decomposition-based multiscale permutation entropy (EMD-MPE) and wavelet transform-based multiscale permutation entropy (WT-MPE)).  相似文献

This paper presents a novel feature extraction scheme for roller bearing fault diagnosis utilizing generalized S transform and two-dimensional non-negative matrix factorization (2DNMF). The generalized S transform, which can make up the poor energy concentration of the standard S transform, is introduced to generate the time-frequency representation (TFR). Experiment results on simulated signal and vibration signals measured from rolling element bearings have revealed that the generalized S transform can obtain a more satisfactory TFR than other similar techniques. Furthermore, a new technique called two-dimensional non-negative matrix factorization (2DNMF), which can reduce the computation cost and preserve more structure information hiding in original 2D matrices compared to the NMF, is developed to extract more informative features from the time-frequency matrixes for accurate fault classification. Experimental results on bearing faults classification have demonstrated that the proposed feature extraction scheme has an advantage over other similar feature extraction approaches.  相似文献

When rolling bearings have a local fault, the real bearing vibration signal related to the local fault is characterized by the properties of nonlinear and nonstationary. To extract the useful fault features from the collected nonlinear and nonstationary bearing vibration signals and improve diagnostic accuracy, this paper proposes a new bearing fault diagnosis method based on parameter adaptive variational mode extraction (PAVME) and multiscale envelope dispersion entropy (MEDE). Firstly, a new method hailed as parameter adaptive variational mode extraction (PAVME) is presented to process the collected original bearing vibration signal and obtain the frequency components related to bearing faults, where its two important parameters (i.e., the penalty factor and mode center-frequency) are automatically determined by whale optimization algorithm. Subsequently, based on the processed bearing vibration signal, an effective complexity evaluation approach named multiscale envelope dispersion entropy (MEDE) is calculated for conducting bearing fault feature extraction. Finally, the extracted fault features are fed into the k-nearest neighbor (KNN) to automatically identify different health conditions of rolling bearing. Case studies and contrastive analysis are performed to validate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method. Experimental results show that the proposed method can not only effectively extract bearing fault features, but also obtain a high identification accuracy for bearing fault patterns under single or variable speed.  相似文献

本文将小波变换方法用于灰度图象的联合变换相关识别中,采用不同的尺度因子对输入图象进行边缘提取预处理,使相关识别结果得到不同程度的改善.通过计算机模拟对比了一阶、二阶微商的边缘提取方法和小波变换边缘提取方法的预处理结果和对识别的影响,在同时衡量相关识别能力及其对噪音的敏感性前提下,小波变换边缘提取预处理明显优于各种微商边缘提取方法.调节小波变换尺度因子还能使识别能力与噪音敏感性这两方面得到更好地均衡,使小波变换边缘提取预处理能够适应不同的图象输入条件和相关输出要求.结果表明,在联合变换相关识别中采用小波变换对输入图象进行预处理是一种更理想的方法。  相似文献

Noise and potential function are vital to stochastic resonance (SR). This paper attempts to broaden the research of the SR and explore a better potential function. Based on the absolute and exponential potentials, a generalized exponential type single-well potential function is constructed. Then the characteristics of the corresponding exponential type single-well SR (ESR) system driven by Levy noise is analyzed numerically. Firstly, the effects of the characteristic index α, symmetric parameter β and noise intensity D of Levy noise on the input signal to noise ratio (SNRi) are investigated. Then, the effects of system parameters a, b, r and noise intensity D on the resonant output is explored. Finally, the ESR system is applied to the fault characteristic extraction of rolling element bearings. The simulation results show that the SR phenomenon is able to be excited by tuning the parameters a, b, r and D under different values of α and β. The larger b (or a) widens the parameter interval of a (or b) which can induce SR. The ESR system is able to solve the problem that the traditional systems fail to achieve SR due to the improper selection of parameters. In bearing fault detection, the detection effect of the ESR system is superior to the bistable SR system.  相似文献

Rolling bearings act as key parts in many items of mechanical equipment and any abnormality will affect the normal operation of the entire apparatus. To diagnose the faults of rolling bearings effectively, a novel fault identification method is proposed by merging variational mode decomposition (VMD), average refined composite multiscale dispersion entropy (ARCMDE) and support vector machine (SVM) optimized by multistrategy enhanced swarm optimization in this paper. Firstly, the vibration signals are decomposed into different series of intrinsic mode functions (IMFs) based on VMD with the center frequency observation method. Subsequently, the proposed ARCMDE, fusing the superiorities of DE and average refined composite multiscale procedure, is employed to enhance the ability of the multiscale fault-feature extraction from the IMFs. Afterwards, grey wolf optimization (GWO), enhanced by multistrategy including levy flight, cosine factor and polynomial mutation strategies (LCPGWO), is proposed to optimize the penalty factor C and kernel parameter g of SVM. Then, the optimized SVM model is trained to identify the fault type of samples based on features extracted by ARCMDE. Finally, the application experiment and contrastive analysis verify the effectiveness of the proposed VMD-ARCMDE-LCPGWO-SVM method.  相似文献

Modulations present in vibration signals generated by rotating machinery might carry a lot of useful information about objects’ technical condition. It has been proven that both gearboxes and rolling element bearing (REB) faults manifest themselves as modulations. The paper describes a technique for detection of modulations in vibroacoustic signals, called modulation intensity distribution (MID), which is a function that combines multiple spectral correlation densities in one way or another, depending on the application. Additionally, the paper describes a functional obtained by integrating an MID (denoted by IMID) that has the advantage of being a function of only one frequency variable instead of two. The paper investigates the utility of the MID as an indicator for detection of the presence of rolling element bearing faults in high noise environments. For the purpose of testing, a wind turbine that suffered both advanced gearbox fault and early stage of bearing fault was chosen. Additionally, the paper undertakes the problem of application of the proposed tool in an industrial condition-monitoring system. In order to show the behavior of cyclic components generated by the turbine under study over a long period of time, the set of MIDs integrated over full range of potential carrier signals was presented as a cascade plot.  相似文献

The early fault diagnosis of rolling bearings has always been a difficult problem due to the interference of strong noise. This paper proposes a new method of early fault diagnosis for rolling bearings with entropy participation. First, a new signal decomposition method is proposed in this paper: intrinsic time-scale decomposition based on time-varying filtering. It is introduced into the framework of complete ensemble intrinsic time-scale decomposition with adaptive noise (CEITDAN). Compared with traditional intrinsic time-scale decomposition, intrinsic time-scale decomposition based on time-varying filtering can improve frequency-separation performance. It has strong robustness in the presence of noise interference. However, decomposition parameters (the bandwidth threshold and B-spline order) have significant impacts on the decomposition results of this method, and they need to be artificially set. Aiming to address this problem, this paper proposes rolling-bearing fault diagnosis optimization based on an improved coyote optimization algorithm (COA). First, the minimal generalized refined composite multiscale sample entropy parameter was used as the objective function. Through the improved COA algorithm, optimal intrinsic time-scale decomposition parameters based on time-varying filtering that match the input signal are obtained. By analyzing generalized refined composite multiscale sample entropy (GRCMSE), whether the mode component is dominated by the fault signal is determined. The signal is reconstructed and decomposed again. Finally, the mode component with the highest energy in the central frequency band is selected for envelope spectrum variation for fault diagnosis. Lastly, simulated and experimental signals were used to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.  相似文献

Variational auto-encoders (VAE) have recently been successfully applied in the intelligent fault diagnosis of rolling bearings due to its self-learning ability and robustness. However, the hyper-parameters of VAEs depend, to a significant extent, on artificial settings, which is regarded as a common and key problem in existing deep learning models. Additionally, its anti-noise capability may face a decline when VAE is used to analyze bearing vibration data under loud environmental noise. Therefore, in order to improve the anti-noise performance of the VAE model and adaptively select its parameters, this paper proposes an optimized stacked variational denoising autoencoder (OSVDAE) for the reliable fault diagnosis of bearings. Within the proposed method, a robust network, named variational denoising auto-encoder (VDAE), is, first, designed by integrating VAE and a denoising auto-encoder (DAE). Subsequently, a stacked variational denoising auto-encoder (SVDAE) architecture is constructed to extract the robust and discriminative latent fault features via stacking VDAE networks layer on layer, wherein the important parameters of the SVDAE model are automatically determined by employing a novel meta-heuristic intelligent optimizer known as the seagull optimization algorithm (SOA). Finally, the extracted latent features are imported into a softmax classifier to obtain the results of fault recognition in rolling bearings. Experiments are conducted to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method. The results of analysis indicate that the proposed method not only can achieve a high identification accuracy for different bearing health conditions, but also outperforms some representative deep learning methods.  相似文献

This paper suggests a new method to predict the Remaining Useful Life (RUL) of rolling bearings based on Long Short Term Memory (LSTM), in order to obtain the degradation condition of the rolling bearings and realize the predictive maintenance. The approach is divided into three parts: the first part is the clustering to detect the damage state by the density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise. The second one is the health indicator construction which could give a better reflection of the bearing degradation tendency and is selected as the input for the prediction model. In the third part of the RUL prediction, the LSTM approach is employed to improve the accuracy of the prediction. The rationale of this work is to combine the two methods—the density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise and LSTM—to identify the abnormal state in rolling bearings, then estimate the RUL. The suggested method is confirmed by experimental data of bearing life cycle, and the RUL prediction results of the model LSTM are compared with the nonlinear au-regressive model with exogenous input model. In addition, the constructed health indicator is compared with the spectral kurtosis feature. The results demonstrated that the suggested method is more appropriate than the nonlinear au-regressive model with exogenous input model for the prediction of bearing RUL.  相似文献

Stochastic resonance (SR) is an important approach to detect weak vibration signals from heavy background noise. In order to increase the calculation speed and improve the weak feature detection performance, a new bistable model has been built. With this model, an adaptive and fast SR method based on dyadic wavelet transform and least square system parameters solving is proposed in this paper. By adding the second-order differential item into the traditional bistable model, noise utilization can be increased and the quality of SR output signal can be improved. The iteration algorithm for implementing the adaptive SR is given. Compared with the traditional adaptive SR method, this algorithm does not need to set up the searching range and searching step size of the system parameters, but only requires a few iterations. The proposed method, discrete wavelet transform and the traditional adaptive SR method are applied to analyzing simulated vibration signals and extracting the fault feature of a rotor system. The contrastive results verify the superiority of the proposed method, and it can be effectively applied to weak mechanical fault feature extraction.  相似文献

The squeak and rattle (S&R) noise of a vehicle’s suspension shock absorber substantially influences the psychological and physiological perception of passengers. In this paper, a state-of-the-art method, specifically, a genetic algorithm-optimized support vector machine (GA-SVM), which can select the most effective feature subsets and optimize the model’s free parameters, is proposed to identify this specific noise. A vehicular road test and a shock absorber rig test are conducted to investigate the relationship between these features, and then an approach for quantifying the shock absorber S&R noise is given. Pre-processed signals are decomposed through a wavelet packet transform (WPT), and two criteria, namely, the wavelet packet energy (WPE) and wavelet packet sample entropy (WPSE), are introduced as the feature extraction methods. Then, the two extracted feature sets are compared based on this genetic algorithm. Another advanced method, known as the genetic algorithm-optimized back propagation neural network (GA-BPNN), is introduced for comparison to illustrate the superiority of the newly developed GA-SVM model. The result shows that the WPSE can extract more useful features than the WPE and that the GA-SVM is more effective and efficient than the GA-BPNN. The proposed approach could be retrained and extended to address other fault identification problems.  相似文献

The health condition of the rolling bearing seriously affects the operation of the whole mechanical system. When the rolling bearing parts fail, the time series collected in the field generally shows strong nonlinearity and non-stationarity. To obtain the faulty characteristics of mechanical equipment accurately, a rolling bearing fault detection technique based on k-optimized adaptive local iterative filtering (ALIF), improved multiscale permutation entropy (improved MPE), and BP neural network was proposed. In the ALIF algorithm, a k-optimized ALIF method based on permutation entropy (PE) is presented to select the number of ALIF decomposition layers adaptively. The completely average coarse-graining method was proposed to excavate more hidden information. The performance analysis of the simulation signal shows that the improved MPE can more accurately dig out the depth information of the time series, and the entropy value obtained is more consistent and stable. In the research application, rolling bearing time series are decomposed by k-optimized ALIF to obtain a certain number of intrinsic mode functions (IMFs). Then the improved MPE value of effective IMF is calculated and input into backpropagation (BP) neural network as the feature vector for automatic fault identification. The comparative analysis of simulation signals shows that this method can extract fault information effectively. At the same time, the experimental part shows that this scheme not only effectively extracts the fault features, but also realizes the classification and identification of different fault modes and faults of different degrees, which has a certain application prospect in the research and application direction of rolling bearing fault identification.  相似文献
