Interest in mass spectrometry of highly oxidized dimers from α‐pinene oxidation has increased in the atmospheric chemistry field. Here, we apply high‐resolution collision‐induced dissociation mass spectrometry (HR‐CID‐MS) with an atmospheric pressure ionization source to investigate in detail how α‐pinene‐derived dimers are detected and identified by MS. The resulting HR‐CID spectra and specific fragmentation patterns suggest that a large fraction of dimer ions detected in full‐scan mass spectra can be hydrogen‐bonded artifact clusters and the residual small fraction includes covalently bonded actual dimers. We also show how individual fractions of the artifact clusters and actual dimers are calculated using the HR‐CID spectra.  相似文献

A novel method has been developed for simultaneous qualitative analysis of coumarins in the rhizome of Angelica polymorpha Maxim. with the use of high-performance liquid chromatography (LC)?Cphotodiode array detection (DAD)?Celectrospray ionization (ESI)?Ctandem mass spectrometry (MS). LC analysis was performed on an Agilent Eclipse XDB-C18 analytical column with a gradient solvent system of water and methanol, ultraviolet (UV) absorption detection was at 300?nm and peak UV spectrum and (+) ESI?CMS data were acquired by DAD and a quadrupole mass spectrometer, respectively. Eight peaks were identified as linear furocoumarins including aviprin, isopimpinellin, bergapten, isooxypeucedanin, gosferol, imperatorin, phellopterin and isoimperatorin by comparing their retention time, UV, and MS spectra with that of the authentic standards, and the analysis of UV spectra and ESI?CMS data of the standards gave the characteristics of UV absorption and ESI?CMS fragmentation. On the basis of the above characteristics, the possible structures of four other linear furocoumarins were deduced in LC. The other chemical structures were proposed as three angular furocoumarins, a simple coumarin, two chromones, and a cinnamic acid by comparing their UV and MS data with that of literature reports. Accordingly, the method we established can simply and accurately identify the key chemical constituents in the rhizome of A. polymorpha.  相似文献

A series of α‐acyloxyhydroperoxy aldehydes was analyzed with direct infusion electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry (ESI/MSn) as well as liquid chromatography coupled with the mass spectrometry (LC/MS). Standards of α‐acyloxyhydroperoxy aldehydes were prepared by liquid‐phase ozonolysis of cyclohexene in the presence of carboxylic acids. Stabilized Criegee intermediate (SCI), a by‐product of the ozone attack on the cyclohexene double bond, reacted with the selected carboxylic acids (SCI scavengers) leading to the formation of α‐acyloxyhydroperoxy aldehydes. Ionization conditions were optimized. [M + H]+ ions were not formed in ESI; consequently, α‐acyloxyhydroperoxy aldehydes were identified as their ammonia adducts for the first time. On the other hand, atmospheric‐pressure chemical ionization has led to decomposition of the compounds of interest. Analysis of the mass spectra (MS2 and MS3) of the [M + NH4]+ ions allowed recognizing the fragmentation pathways, common for all of the compounds under study. In order to get detailed insights into the fragmentation mechanism, a number of isotopically labeled analogs were also studied. To confirm that the fragmentation mechanism allows predicting the mass spectrum of different α‐acyloxyhydroperoxy aldehydes, ozonolysis of α‐pinene, a very important secondary organic aerosol precursor, was carried out. Spectra of the two ammonium cationized α‐acyloxyhydroperoxy aldehydes prepared with α‐pinene, cis‐pinonic acid as well as pinic acid were predicted very accurately. Possible applications of the method developed for the analysis of α‐acyloxyhydroperoxy aldehydes in SOA samples, as well as other compounds containing hydroperoxide moiety are discussed. The thermal stability of several commonly used crystalline matrix‐assisted ultraviolet laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry (UV‐MALDI‐MS) matrices, 2,5‐dihydroxybenzoic acid (gentisic acid; GA), 2,4,6‐trihydroxyacetophenone (THA), α‐cyano‐4‐hydroxycinnamic acid (CHC), 3,5‐dimethoxy‐4‐hydroxycinnamic acid (sinapinic acid; SA), 9H‐pirido[3,4‐b]indole (nor‐harmane; nor‐Ho), 1‐methyl‐9H‐pirido[3,4‐b]indole (harmane; Ho), perchlorate of nor‐harmanonium ([nor‐Ho + H]+) and perchlorate of harmanonium ([Ho + H]+) was studied by heating them at their melting point and characterizing the remaining material by using different MS techniques [electron ionization mass spectrometry (EI‐MS), ultraviolet laserdesorption/ionization‐time‐of‐flight‐mass spectrometry (UV‐LDI‐TOF‐MS) and electrospray ionization‐time‐of‐flight‐mass spectrometry (ESI‐TOF‐MS)] as well as by thin layer chromatography analysis (TLC), electronic spectroscopy (UV‐absorption, fluorescence emission and excitation spectroscopy) and 1H nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H‐NMR). In general, all compounds, except for CHC and SA, remained unchanged after fusion. CHC showed loss of CO2, yielding the trans‐/cis‐4‐hydroxyphenylacrilonitrile mixture. This mixture was unambiguously characterized by MS and 1H‐NMR spectroscopy, and its sublimation capability was demonstrated. These results explain the well‐known cluster formation, fading (vanishing) and further recovering of CHC when used as a matrix in UV‐MALDI‐MS. Commercial SA (SA 98%; trans‐SA/cis‐SA 5 : 1) showed mainly cis‐ to‐trans thermal isomerization and, with very poor yield, loss of CO2, yielding (3′,5′‐dimethoxy‐4′‐hydroxyphenyl)‐1‐ethene as the decarboxilated product. These thermal conversions would not drastically affect its behavior as a UV‐MALDI matrix as happens in the case of CHC. Complementary studies of the photochemical stability of these matrices in solid state were also conducted. Copyright © 2008 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

This study presents an efficient strategy based on microwave‐assisted extraction (MAE), HPLC‐DAD‐MS/MS and high‐speed counter‐current chromatography (HSCCC) for the rapid extraction, identification, separation and purification of active components from the traditional Chinese medicine Fructus Aurantii Immaturus. An LC‐DAD‐MS/MS method was applied for the screening and structural identification of main components in crude extract, and five components were preliminarily identified as neoeriocitrin, narirutin, naringin, hesperidin and neohesperidin according to their UV and mass spectra. An efficient MAE method for the extraction of the three most abundant components (narirutin, naringin and neohesperidin) was optimized by the combination of univariate and multivariate approaches. The crude extract was then separated and purified by HSCCC and a total of 61.6 mg of narirutin, 207.3 mg of naringin and 159.5 mg of neohesperidin at high purities of 98.1, 97.2 and 99.5%, respectively, were obtained from 1.42 g of crude extract. The recoveries of these compounds were 86, 93 and 89%, respectively. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

We report an eco‐friendly synthesis of α‐Cr2O3 nanoparticles (NPs) using Callistemon viminalis (Bottle Brush) flower extracts as an efficient reducing and capping agent. NPs of sizes 15 nm and 17 nm were synthesized by annealing them at 400°C and 500°C, respectively, which were characterized by X‐ray diffraction, UV–Vis, Fourier transform‐infrared, high‐resolution‐transmission electron microscopy/scanning electron microscopy, SAED, energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy and SQUID. Microplate‐based assay was used for examining antibacterial potential against 12 pathogenic bacterial strains, and their minimum inhibitory concentrations were calculated. MTT cytotoxic assay was accomplished on Leishmania tropica amastigotes and promastigotes, which revealed IC50 values of 44 μg/ml and 10.56 μg/ml, respectively. An IC50 value of 46.32 μg/ml was obtained for HepG2 cancer cells. Enzyme inhibition studies indicated good acetylcholinesterase, moderate butyrylcholinesterase and low alpha‐glucosidase inhibition. Hemolytic assay indicated hemocompatibility at low concentration. In addition, good DPPH radical scavenging and moderate reducing power and total antioxidant potential was revealed by α‐Cr2O3 NPs.  相似文献

In this report, we have synthesized organic/inorganic hybrid peptide–poly(?‐caprolactone) (PCL) conjugates via ring opening polymerization (ROP) of ?‐caprolactone (CL) in the presence of two sequence defined peptide initiators, namely POSS‐Leu‐Aib‐Leu‐NH2 (POSS: polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane; Leu: Leucine; Aib: α‐aminoisobutyric acid) and OMe‐Leu‐Aib‐Leu‐NH2. Covalent attachment of peptide segments with the PCLs were examined by 1H and 29Si NMR spectroscopy, matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization time‐of‐flight mass spectrometry (MALDI‐TOF‐MS) and FTIR spectroscopy. Supramolecular inclusion complexations of synthesized peptide‐PCL conjugates with α‐cyclodextrin (α‐CyD) were studied to understand the effect of POSS/OMe‐peptide moieties at the PCL chain ends. Inclusion complexation of peptide‐PCL conjugates with α‐CyD produced linear polypseudorotaxane, confirmed by 1H NMR, FTIR, powder X‐ray diffraction (PXRD), polarized optical microscopy (POM) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Extent of α‐CyD threading onto the hybrid peptide‐PCL conjugated polymers is less than that of α‐CyD threaded onto the linear PCL. Thus, PCL chains were not fully covered by the host α‐CyD molecules due to the bulky POSS/OMe‐peptide moieties connected with the one edge of the PCL chains. PXRD experiment reveals channel like structures by the synthesized inclusion complexes (ICs). Spherulitic morphologies of POSS/OMe‐peptide‐PCL conjugates were fully destroyed after inclusion complexation with α‐CyD and tiny nanoobjects were produced. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. In recent years β‐amino acids have increased their importance enormously in defining secondary structures of β‐peptides. Interest in β‐amino acids raises the question: Why and how did nature choose α‐amino acids for the central role in life? In this article we present experimental results of MS and 31P NMR methods on the chemical behavior of N‐phosphorylated α‐alanine, β‐alanine, and γ‐amino butyric acid in different solvents. N‐Phosphoryl α‐alanine can self‐assemble to N‐phosphopeptides either in water or in organic solvents, while no assembly was observed for β‐ or γ‐amino acids. An intramolecular carboxylic–phosphoric mixed anhydride (IMCPA) is the key structure responsible for their chemical behaviors. Relative energies and solvent effects of three isomers of IMCPA derived from α‐alanine (2a–c), with five‐membered ring, and five isomers of IMCPA derived from β‐alanine (4a–e), with six‐membered ring, were calculated with density functional theory at the B3LYP/6‐31G** level. The lower relative energy (3.2 kcal/mol in water) of 2b and lower energy barrier for its formation (16.7 kcal/mol in water) are responsible for the peptide formation from N‐phosphoryl α‐alanine. Both experimental and theoretical studies indicate that the structural difference among α‐, β‐, and γ‐amino acids can be recognized by formation of IMCPA after N‐phosphorylation. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Atenolol, nadolol, metoprolol, bisoprolol and betaxolol were simultaneously determined in groundwater samples by large‐volume injection coupled‐column reversed‐phase liquid chromatography with fluorescence detection (LVI‐LC‐LC‐FD) and liquid chromatography‐time‐of‐flight mass spectrometry (LC‐TOF‐MS). The LVI‐LC‐LC‐FD method combines analyte isolation, preconcentration and determination into a single step. Significant reductions in costs for sample pre‐treatment (solvent and solid phases for clean up) and method development times are also achieved. Using LC‐TOF‐MS, accurate mass measurements within 3 ppm error were obtained for all of the β‐blockers studied. Empirical formula information can be obtained by this method, allowing the unequivocal identification of the target compounds in the samples. To increase the sensitivity, a solid‐phase extraction step with Oasis MCX cartridge was carried out yielding recoveries of 79–114% (n=5) with RSD 2–7% for the LC‐TOF‐MS method. SPE gives a high purification of β‐blockers compared with the existing methods. A 100% methanol wash was allowed for these compounds with no loss of analytes. Limit of quantification was 1–7 ng/L for LVI‐LC‐LC‐FD and 0.25–5 ng/L for LC‐TOF‐MS. As a result of selective extraction and effective removal of coextractives, no matrix effect was observed in LVI‐LC‐LC‐FD and LC‐TOF‐MS analyses. The methods were applied to detect and quantify β‐blockers in groundwater samples of Almería (Spain).  相似文献

A simple method based on liquid chromatography coupled with diode array detection and electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (LC‐DAD‐ESI‐MS) was developed for the quality assessment of Cortex Phellodendri (CP), which was mainly derived from two species of Phellodendron chinense Schneid and Phellodendron amurense Rupr. Total 41 compounds, including 14 phenols, 24 alkaloids and three liminoidal triterpenes were identified or tentatively characterized from the 75% methanol extract of CP samples by online ESI‐MSn fragmentation and UV spectra analysis. Among them, two phenols and six alkaloids were simultaneously quantified using HPLC‐DAD method. The validated HPLC‐DAD method showed a good linearity, precision, repeatability and accuracy for the quantification of eight marker compounds. Furthermore, the plausible fragmentation pathway of the representative compounds were proposed in the present study. The differences of the chemical constituents content and the comprehensive HPLC profiles between the two CP species using LC‐DAD‐ESI‐MS method are reported for the first time, indicating that the CP drugs from different resources should be used separately in the clinic. A new compound, α‐aminophosphonate derivative containing pyridine ring (PPDE), was designed and synthesized as an extractant for the separation of nickel from metal impurities. Over 94.5% of Ni (II) extraction from sulfuric acid solution was achieved by using PPDE with an equilibrium pH of 4.02. Meanwhile, high separation coefficients of 23.8 for Ni to Co, 84.9 for Ni to Mn, 254.1 for Ni to Ca and 696.7 for Ni to Mg, respectively, were obtained. It was noted that PPDE exhibited an excellent regenerability, and the extraction of Ni with the recycled organic phase ranged from 92.5% to 93.9% during six circulations. The extracted nickel complex was determined as [Ni (PPDE)2(DNNSA?)2(H2O)4], which was supported by the data obtained from Fourier transform‐infrared, UV–Vis and electrospray ionization‐mass spectrometry spectra.  相似文献

Lens crystallin proteins make up 90% of expressed proteins in the ocular lens and are primarily responsible for maintaining lens transparency and establishing the gradient of refractive index necessary for proper focusing of images onto the retina. Age‐related modifications to lens crystallins have been linked to insolubilization and cataractogenesis in human lenses. Matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) imaging mass spectrometry (IMS) has been shown to provide spatial maps of such age‐related modifications. Previous work demonstrated that, under standard protein IMS conditions, α‐crystallin signals dominated the mass spectrum and age‐related modifications to α‐crystallins could be mapped. In the current study, a new sample preparation method was optimized to allow imaging of β‐ and γ‐crystallins in ocular lens tissue. Acquired images showed that γ‐crystallins were localized predominately in the lens nucleus whereas β‐crystallins were primarily localized to the lens cortex. Age‐related modifications such as truncation, acetylation, and carbamylation were identified and spatially mapped. Protein identifications were determined by top‐down proteomics analysis of lens proteins extracted from tissue sections and analyzed by LC‐MS/MS with electron transfer dissociation. This new sample preparation method combined with the standard method allows the major lens crystallins to be mapped by MALDI IMS.  相似文献

A sensitive and selective liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometric (LC‐MS/MS) method was developed and validated for the determination of β,β‐dimethylacrylshikonin (DASK) in rat whole blood. DASK was pretreated using pre‐column derivatization with 2‐mercaptoethanol followed by liquid–liquid extraction with cyclohexane. Detection was performed on Thermo Finnigan TSQ Quantum triple quadrupole mass spectrometer by selected reaction monitoring mode via electrospray ionization source. The linear range for the determination of DASK spiked in rat whole blood (0.25 mL) was 3–3000 ng/mL. The accuracy was within 9%. Intra‐ and inter‐day precisions were no more than 16.1 and 13.3%, respectively. The validated LC‐MS/MS method was successfully applied to the preliminary pharmacokinetic study in rats. After DASK administration (60 mg/kg, p.o.) in rats, pharmacokinetic parameters were obtained, where the area under the drug concentration–time curve was 2393.7 ± 224.4 ng h/mL and the elimination half‐life was 27.6 ± 5.3 h. Efficient and recyclable novel nano tetra‐2,3‐pyridiniumporphyrazinato‐oxo‐vanadium tricyanomethanide, {[VO(TPPA)][C(CN)3]4}, as a vanadium surface‐free phthalocyanine‐based molten salt catalyst was successfully designed, produced and used for the Strecker synthesis of α‐aminonitrile derivatives through a one‐pot three‐component reaction between aromatic aldehydes, trimethylsilyl cyanide and aniline derivatives under neat conditions at 50 °C. This catalyst was well characterized using Fourier transform infrared, UV–visible, X‐ray photoelectron and energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopies, X‐ray diffraction, scanning and high‐resolution transmission electron microscopies, inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry and thermogravimetric analysis. The catalyst can be simply recovered and reused several times without significant loss of catalytic activity.  相似文献

This paper describes an analytical approach, based on LC‐diode array detector‐MS/MS (LC‐DAD‐MS/MS), for characterizing the fat‐soluble micronutrient fraction in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss ). Two different procedures were applied to isolate the analytes from liver and muscle tissue: overnight cold saponification to hydrolyze bound forms and to simplify the analysis; matrix solid‐phase dispersion to avoid artifacts and to maintain unaltered the naturally occurring forms. Analytes were separated on a C30 analytical column by using a nonaqueous reversed mobile phase compatible with the atmospheric pressure chemical ionization. Compared to other works, the most relevant advantage of the here illustrated method is the large amount of information obtained with few analytical steps: nine fat‐soluble vitamins (3,4‐dehydroretinol, retinol, cholecalciferol, ergocalciferol, α‐tocopherol, γ‐tocopherol, δ‐tocopherol, phylloquinone, and menaquinone‐4) and eight carotenoids (all‐trans ‐lutein, all‐trans ‐astaxanthin, all‐trans ‐zeaxanthin, all‐trans ‐β‐cryptoxanthin, all‐trans ‐canthaxanthin, all‐trans ‐ζ‐carotene, all‐trans ‐β‐carotene, and all‐trans ‐γ‐carotene) were quantified after the method validation, while other untargeted carotenoids were tentatively identified by exploiting the identification power of the LC‐DAD‐MS/MS hyphenation.  相似文献

A simple, sensitive and specific high‐performance liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LC‐MS/MS) method was developed and validated for the quantification of β‐hydroxy‐β‐methyl butyrate (HMB) in small volumes of rat plasma using warfarin as an internal standard (IS). The API‐4000 LC‐MS/MS was operated under the multiple reaction‐monitoring mode using the electrospray ionization technique. A simple liquid–liquid extraction process was used to extract HMB and IS from rat plasma. The total run time was 3 min and the elution of HMB and IS occurred at 1.48 and 1.75 min respectively; this was achieved with a mobile phase consisting of 0.1% formic acid in a water–acetonitrile mixture (15:85, v/v) at a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min on a Agilent Eclipse XDB C8 (150 × 4.6, 5 µm) column. The developed method was validated in rat plasma with a lower limit of quantitation of 30.0 ng/mL for HMB. A linear response function was established for the range of concentrations 30–4600 ng/mL (r > 0.998) for HMB. The intra‐ and inter‐day precision values for HMB were acceptable as per Food and Drug Administration guidelines. HMB was stable in the battery of stability studies, viz. bench‐top, autosampler freeze–thaw cycles and long‐term stability for 30 days in plasma. The developed assay method was applied to a bioavailability study in rats. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A rapid and sensitive LC–MS/MS method with good accuracy and precision was developed and validated for the pharmacokinetic study of quercetin‐3‐O‐β‐d ‐glucopyranosyl‐7‐O‐β‐d ‐gentiobioside (QGG) in Sprague–Dawley rats. Plasma samples were simply precipitated by methanol and then analyzed by LC–MS/MS. A Venusil® ASB C18 column (2.1 × 50 mm, i.d. 5 μm) was used for separation, with methanol–water (50:50, v/v) as the mobile phase at a flow rate of 300 μL/min. The optimized mass transition ion‐pairs (m/z) for quantitation were 787.3/301.3 for QGG, and 725.3/293.3 for internal standard. The linear range was 7.32–1830 ng/mL with an average correlation coefficient of 0.9992, and the limit of quantification was 7.32 ng/mL. The intra‐ and inter‐day precision and accuracy were less than ±15%. At low, medium and high quality control concentrations, the recovery and matrix effect of the analyte and IS were in the range of 89.06–92.43 and 88.58–97.62%, respectively. The method was applied for the pharmacokinetic study of QGG in Sprague–Dawley rats. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

To detect and identify the electron spin resonance (ESR) silent forms of the α‐(4‐pyridyl‐1‐oxide)‐N‐tert‐butylnitrone (4‐POBN) radical adducts, an electrochemical detector (ECD) was employed as a reactor in the HPLC‐ECD‐UV absorption detector‐ESR‐MS (HPLC‐ECD‐UV‐ESR‐MS). The ECD was employed to regenerate the radical forms from the reduced forms. The reduced forms of the 4‐POBN/pentyl radical adducts were analyzed using the HPLC‐ECD‐UV‐ESR‐MS. On addition of the ECD applied potential of +0.3 V, a peak appeared on the ESR trace of the HPLC‐ECD‐UV‐ESR‐MS analyses, indicating that the radical forms are regenerated from the reduced forms. The HPLC‐ECD‐UV‐ESR‐MS analyses were also performed for the reaction mixtures of phenylhydrazine with CuCl2. Two peaks (peaks I and II) were detected on the UV trace (300 nm) of the HPLC‐ECD‐UV‐ESR‐MS. The mass spectra showed that the peak I and peak II compounds are radical and reduced forms of the 4‐POBN/phenyl radical adducts under the ECD applied potential of 0.0 V. Peak I was only detected on the ESR trace under the ECD applied potential of 0.0 V. In addition to peak I, peak II appeared on the ESR trace under the ECD applied potential of +0.3 V, indicating that the reduced forms are oxidized to the corresponding radical forms.  相似文献

A robust ultra high performance liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry method at peptide level was established for measuring α‐lactalbumin in various dairy products. An isotope‐labeled winged peptide (VKKILDKVG*I NYW*L AHKALCSEKL) with extra amino acids of the sequence of signature peptide concatenated at each end as the internal standard was spiked in samples to participate in the whole tryptic digestion process. The peptide VG*I NYW*L AHK that resulted from the isotope‐labeled winged peptide was used as the final isotopically labeled internal standard of the α‐lactalbumin signature peptide (VGINYWLAHK) during the quantitative analysis. The contents of α‐lactalbumin in samples were calculated based on the equimolar relationship between the α‐lactalbumin protein and signature peptide. The optimized molar ratio of trypsin to protein (1:60) and enzymatic digestion time (5 h) could not only improve the digestion efficiency and reduce the cost, but also minimize the period of sample pretreatment. Considering the robustness of the current method using the isotopically labeled internal standard and acceptable measurement cost, its application may promote the development of nutrient investigation and quality control of α‐lactalbumin in dairy products. This protein analysis method might provide a new reference strategy for food analysis and quantitative protein analysis.  相似文献

Two new ring opening polymerization (ROP) initiators, namely, (3‐allyl‐2‐(allyloxy)phenyl)methanol and (3‐allyl‐2‐(prop‐2‐yn‐1‐yloxy)phenyl)methanol each containing two reactive functionalities viz. allyl, allyloxy and allyl, propargyloxy, respectively, were synthesized from 3‐allylsalicyaldehyde as a starting material. Well defined α‐allyl, α′‐allyloxy and α‐allyl, α′‐propargyloxy bifunctionalized poly(ε‐caprolactone)s with molecular weights in the range 4200–9500 and 3600–10,900 g/mol and molecular weight distributions in the range 1.16–1.18 and 1.15–1.16, respectively, were synthesized by ROP of ε‐caprolactone employing these initiators. The presence of α‐allyl, α′‐allyloxy and α‐allyl, α′‐propargyloxy functionalities on poly(ε‐caprolactone)s was confirmed by FT‐IR, 1H, 13C NMR spectroscopy, and MALDI‐TOF analysis. The kinetic study of ROP of ε‐caprolactone with both the initiators revealed the pseudo first order kinetics with respect to ε‐caprolactone consumption and controlled behavior of polymerization reactions. The usefulness of α‐allyl, α′‐allyloxy functionalities on poly(ε‐caprolactone) was demonstrated by performing the thiol‐ene reaction with poly(ethylene glycol) thiol to obtain (mPEG)2‐PCL miktoarm star copolymer. α‐Allyl, α′‐propargyloxy functionalities on poly(ε‐caprolactone) were utilized in orthogonal reactions i.e copper catalyzed alkyne‐azide click (CuAAC) with azido functionalized poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) followed by thiol‐ene reaction with poly(ethylene glycol) thiol to synthesize PCL‐PNIPAAm‐mPEG miktoarm star terpolymer. The preliminary characterization of A2B and ABC miktoarm star copolymers was carried out by 1H NMR spectroscopy and gel permeation chromatography (GPC). © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym.
