The aim of this note is to introduce another way of defining the almost sure uniform convergence, which is necessary when studying some mathematical results on the existence of price bubbles in certain scenarios of trading securities. This mode of convergence of random variables' sequences is intermediate between the uniform and the almost sure ones, and, more specifically, between the uniform and the complete convergences. In this way, this paper presents some mathematical characterizations of both almost sure uniform and complete convergences, and shows that the almost sure uniform convergence is a particular case of complete convergence, when the number of summands in the series defining this mode of convergence is finite. Finally, this paper presents the relation of almost surely uniform convergence with convergence in mean when the random variable limit is integrable. Moreover, almost surely convergence and local boundedness of the sequence of random variables minus its limit are sufficient to derive convergence in mean.  相似文献

We give some necessary and sufficient conditions under which the almost uniform convergence coincides on compact sets with uniform, quasi-uniform or uniform convergence, respectively. In the second section continuity of almost uniform limits is considered. We prove an abstract form of the strong convergence of the Halpern-type and Tikhonov-type proximal point algorithms in CAT(0) spaces. In addition, we derive uniform and computable rates of metastability (in the sense of Tao) for these iterations using proof mining techniques.

We characterize the uniform convergence of pointwise monotonic nets of bounded real functions defined on arbitrary sets, without any particular structure. The resulting condition trivially holds for the classical Dini theorem. Our vector-valued Dini-type theorem characterizes the uniform convergence of pointwise monotonic nets of functions with relatively compact range in Hausdorff topological ordered vector spaces. As a consequence, for such nets of continuous functions on a compact space, we get the equivalence between the pointwise and the uniform convergence. When the codomain is locally convex, we also get the equivalence between the uniform convergence and the weak-pointwise convergence; this also merges the Dini-Weston theorem on the convergence of monotonic nets from Hausdorff locally convex ordered spaces. Most of our results are free of any structural requirements on the common domain and put compactness in the right place: the range of the functions.  相似文献

We study stability properties of a proximal point algorithm for solving the inclusion 0∈T(x) when T is a set-valued mapping that is not necessarily monotone. More precisely we show that the convergence of our algorithm is uniform, in the sense that it is stable under small perturbations whenever the set-valued mapping T is metrically regular at a given solution. We present also an inexact proximal point method for strongly metrically subregular mappings and show that it is super-linearly convergent to a solution to the inclusion 0∈T(x).  相似文献

In this paper, we obtain global pointwise and ergodic convergence rates for a variable metric proximal alternating direction method of multipliers for solving linearly constrained convex optimization problems. We first propose and study nonasymptotic convergence rates of a variable metric hybrid proximal extragradient framework for solving monotone inclusions. Then, the convergence rates for the former method are obtained essentially by showing that it falls within the latter framework. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time that global pointwise (resp. pointwise and ergodic) convergence rates are obtained for the variable metric proximal alternating direction method of multipliers (resp. variable metric hybrid proximal extragradient framework).  相似文献

In this paper, the concept of lacunary equi-statistical convergence is introduced and it is shown that lacunary equi-statistical convergence lies between lacunary statistical pointwise and lacunary statistical uniform convergence. Inclusion relations between equi-statistical and lacunary equi-statistical convergence are investigated and it is proved that, under some conditions, lacunary equi-statistical convergence and equi-statistical convergence are equivalent to each other. A Korovkin type approximation theorem via lacunary equi-statistical convergence is proved. Moreover it is shown that our Korovkin type approximation theorem is a non-trivial extension of some well-known Korovkin type approximation theorems. Finally the rates of lacunary equi-statistical convergence by the help of modulus of continuity of positive linear operators are studied.   相似文献

In this paper we give a characterization of pointwise and uniform convergence of sequences of homogeneous polynomials on a Banach space by means of the convergence of their level sets. Results are obtained both in the real and the complex cases, as well as some generalizations to the nonhomogeneous case and to holomorphic functions in the complex case. Kuratowski convergence of closed sets is used in order to characterize pointwise convergence. We require uniform convergence of the distance function to get uniform convergence of the sequence of polynomials.

In a Hilbert space, we study the convergence of a proximal point method to a common zero of a finite family of maximal monotone operators under the presence of computational errors. Most results known in the literature establish the convergence of proximal point methods, when computational errors are summable. In the present paper, the convergence of the method is established for nonsummable computational errors. We show that the proximal point method generates a good approximate solution, if the sequence of computational errors is bounded from above by a constant.  相似文献

The proximal alternating direction method of multipliers is a popular and useful method for linearly constrained, separable convex problems, especially for the linearized case. In the literature, convergence of the proximal alternating direction method has been established under the assumption that the proximal regularization matrix is positive semi-definite. Recently, it was shown that the regularizing proximal term in the proximal alternating direction method of multipliers does not necessarily have to be positive semi-definite, without any additional assumptions. However, it remains unknown as to whether the indefinite setting is valid for the proximal version of the symmetric alternating direction method of multipliers. In this paper, we confirm that the symmetric alternating direction method of multipliers can also be regularized with an indefinite proximal term. We theoretically prove the global convergence of the indefinite method and establish its worst-case convergence rate in an ergodic sense. In addition, the generalized alternating direction method of multipliers proposed by Eckstein and Bertsekas is a special case in our discussion. Finally, we demonstrate the performance improvements achieved when using the indefinite proximal term through experimental results.  相似文献

It is shown that the proximal limit spaces can be considered as a bireflective subcategory of the topological category of uniform limit spaces. Uniform index is a conception that can describe the uniformity of a finite point set in a polyhedron, and is closely related to chaos. In order to study uniform index, the concept of contained uniform index is defined, which is similar to uniform index and has good mathematical properties.
