采用10GHZ基准时钟光和10Gbit/s的数据脉冲信号光注入到锁模激光二极管,降低了周期抖动,当注入功率为-5dBm,在基准时钟光波长等于锁模激光二极管的光波长时,获得的最小抖动为0.25ps,采用给锁模激光二极管,在注入功率为+27dBm时,其Q值达3000。  相似文献

报道了一种全部由10GHz带宽的元件构成的、用于时钟提取的双环注入锁模光纤激光器.这种装置集光电振荡器(OEO)与注入锁模光纤激光器的优点于一体,利用它不仅从恶化的数据信号中实现了10Gb/s的位时钟提取,在采用了光电振荡器的分频、锁模光纤激光器的有理谐波锁模以及F-P梳状滤波器的频率倍乘技术以后,还从20Gb/s和40Gb/s的恶化信号中提取出了位时钟.该方案的另一个优点是无码型效应.  相似文献

In this paper, we report on the generation and the stabilization of ultrafast optical pulse trains exceeding 100 GHz from monolithic mode-locked laser diodes (MLLDs) combined with some new techniques such as subharmonic synchronous mode-locking (SSML) and repetition-frequency multiplication (RFM) method. Key subjects to increase the pulse repetition frequencies of the MLLDs such as fast absorption recovery and harmonic mode-locking operation are discussed. 500 GHz optical pulse generation from a short-cavity, graded-index separated confinement heterostructure MLLD and THz-rate pulse generation by harmonic mode-locking are reported. We also demonstrate the stabilization of a 160 GHz MLLD by the SSML with subharmonic-frequency optical pulse injection and reveal that the SSML is very promising as a stabilization technique of the ultrafast MLLD beyond the limitations by the electronic device speed. A method to accurately measure the timing jitter of such ultrafast optical pulse train, all-optical down converting using a nonlinear optical device, is also presented. We also mention another choice for ultrafast optical pulse generation using the MLLD combined with a dispersive medium such as an optical fiber. We demonstrate here the generations of stable 84–256 GHz optical pulse trains by the RFM method of the MLLD stabilized by the SSML.  相似文献

A 40 Gbit/s optical 3R regenerator is proposed and demonstrated. The 3R regenerator consists of a dual-ring injection mode-locked fiber ring laser as the clock recovery module and an electroabsorption modulator (EAM) as the decision gate. The clock recovery module extracts the optical short pulse clock with low timing jitter from degraded 40 Gbit/s optical data streams, while the decision gate restores their signal quality. A numerical model describing the cross-absorption modulation effect in a bulk EAM is developed to explore the operating conditions, such as bias voltage, pump signal power. The timing jitter tolerance for the EAM optical gate is also investigated. Significantly improvement of BER is obtained from 40 Gbit/s RZ signals which are degraded by polarization mode dispersion or chromatic dispersion.  相似文献

提出一种新型40 Gb/s全光3R再生器方案。采用高精细度法布里-珀罗滤波器进行时钟提取。时钟提取前,通过高稳定光源对输入信号光波长变换实现信号光波长和法布里-珀罗滤波器梳状窗口对准;时钟提取后,接半导体光放大器(SOA)进一步消除时钟信号噪声。全光判决中,采用双半导体光放大器串联增大非线性性能,提高了判决门的响应速度。判决输出接窄带滤波器去除脉冲啁啾拖尾,减小码型效应。实验中,恶化40 Gb/s光脉冲信号通过全光3R再生器可以得到再生脉冲。输入恶化信号时间抖动大于5 ps,脉冲宽度大于16 ps,再生得到的信号时间抖动小于1.5 ps。再生信号相对于输入信噪比改善14 dB。连续稳定工作记录大于15 h。通过实验验证,这种全光3R再生器方案成功地实现了40 Gb/s信号的再生。  相似文献

To implement all-optical burst-mode clock extraction we adopt a modified terahertz optical asymmetric demultiplexer (MTOAD). The transmittance and reflectance of the MTOAD depend on the input intensity. For the MTOAD, two levels of pulse intensity can be chosen in such a way that while the pulses with similar intensity are reflected for both strong and weak pulses, only the strong pulse transmits. The device is useful, for example, for bit-level clock extraction from a packet, where strong and weak intensity pulses are assigned to ‘1' and ‘0', respectively. When the input optical signal power is fixed to −1.6 dBm and the intensity ratio between ‘1' and ‘0' is varied in the range of 0.2–0.5, the extinction ratio (ER) at the transmitted port is more than 10 dB and a clock amplitude jitter (CAJ) of the bit-level clock at the reflected port is less than 14%. Inversely, when the input power is varied in the range of −6–−1 dBm with fixed intensity ratio of 0.3, more than 11 dB of ER and less than 15% of CAJ are obtained.  相似文献

We describe a method for pulse-repetition-frequency tuning of mode-locked laser diodes (MLLDs) monolithically integrated with a distributed Bragg reflector (DBR). The pulse-repetition frequency, i.e., the cavity-roundtrip time, is tuned through loss-induced change in the effective length of the DBR. The frequency-tuning range as large as the chip-to-chip frequency deviation caused by cavity-length fabrication variation of 10 μm has been confirmed experimentally, and the MLLDs operate at SDH (synchronous digital hierarchy) frequencies of 9.953, 19.906 and 39.813 GHz. Synchronization with an external system-clock through the hybrid mode-locking operation reduces the timing jitter of the optical pulses to less than 0.3 ps. As an optical pulse source for optical communication, error-free 20-Gbps transmission over 3000 km has been demonstrated, confirming that the MLLD properties satisfy the requirements for use in real systems. The novel application of MLLDs to all-optical clock extraction, one of the essential functions required in all-optical signal processing, has been demonstrated at the 40-GHz SDH frequency.  相似文献

报道了对10Gb/s恶化数据信号的全光3R(再放大、再定时、再整形)再生的实验研究。针对利用基于半导体光放大器的注入锁模环形激光器进行时钟恢复时的码型效应问题,提出了利用梳状滤波器对信号进行预处理。利用这个技术极大的减小了由于码型效应造成的时钟信号的幅度和时间抖动,从恶化的数据信号中恢复出无码型效应的高质量光时钟脉冲。信号整形的关键是光判决门,性能良好的判决门可以进一步提高信号的消光比、减小抖动。研究了基于电吸收调制器的信号再整形。利用上述器件构成的3R再生器,实现了10Gb/s恶化信号的全光3R再生。  相似文献

报道了低成本、非制冷法布里-玻罗腔半导体增益开光激光器稳定地产生超短脉冲的实验研究.通过使用外部连续光注入,增益开光激光器的脉冲抖动得到了有效的抑制.实验结果表,明当选择合适功率的连续光注入到非制冷半导体增益开关激光器腔内,可以稳定地产生脉宽26 ps、抖动低于400 fs、重复频率2.5 GHz的脉冲序列.  相似文献

Ultralow jitter pulse trains are produced from a passively mode-locked, erbium/ytterbium co-doped, planar waveguide laser by use of high-bandwidth feedback control acting on the physical cavity length and optical pump power. Synchronization of a 750-MHz, fundamentally mode-locked laser to an external clock signal yields an ultralow, root-mean-square relative timing jitter of 14.4 fs integrated from 10 Hz to the Nyquist frequency of 375 MHz.  相似文献

基于超快非线性干涉仪UNI开关具有超过40 Gbit/s的开关速度,提出一种在锁模环形腔内利用UNI开关进行时钟提取的新方案.按此方案进行实验,对40 Gbit/s伪随机信号进行时钟提取,得到了清晰稳定的时钟脉冲.与利用SOA的交叉增益调制注入锁模时钟提取方案相比,在此方案中注入到SOA的信号功率仅0.5 dBm,降低了7 dB左右,对SOA的运行更安全.  相似文献

We demonstrate a novel, polarization-insensitive scheme for multiwavelength nonreturn-to-zero to return-to-zero format conversion at 10 Gb/s rate with significant timing-jitter suppression and signal-to-noise ratio improvement. The scheme utilizes a self-starting electroabsorption-modulator based optoelectronic oscillator that simultaneously generates a 10 GHz-rate microwave signal and a train of 15 ps-wide optical pulses with 40 fs timing jitter (100–10 MHz range). Under direct optical injection locking of the oscillator with an incoming data stream, we demonstrate the extraction of a high-quality clock that enables in-line format conversion of multiple, synchronized nonreturn-to-zero channels.  相似文献

Linewidth narrowing of the radio frequency beat-tones and the optical-modes is experimentally investigated in a ~40 GHz quantum-dash mode-locked laser diode subject to optical injection of 10 GHz pulses. In comparison to the 75 kHz linewidth exhibited by the beat-tones in passive mode-locking conditions, a remarkable reduction to less than 8 Hz is achieved when the laser is under optical injection. From this beat-tone signal, an integrated root-mean-square timing jitter of 64 fs is calculated. In addition, a quadratic profile of the optical linewidth with the wavelength is observed in active locking, reaching a minimum of 1.7 MHz for the longitudinal modes around 1530 nm and progressively increasing to 37.4 MHz for modes at 1525 nm.  相似文献

Timing jitter performance in binary optical preamplifier direct detection system is investigated through both the analytical method and computer simulation method. The presented analytical method is based on the moment generating function (MGF) and has taken into account the influence of optical filter on the optical pulse shape. It can be used to optimize the timing jitter performance for linear clock extraction scheme for any type of optical filter and narrow bandpass electrical filter. The presented computer simulation method is capable of dealing with any nonlinear clock extraction scheme and also the impact of laser phase noise on timing jitter performance.  相似文献

We propose and experimentally demonstrate a frequency divider implemented by an optically injected Fabry-Perot laser diode (FP-LD) based on the nonlinear dynamical period-one oscillation. Injected by optical pulses, the FP-LD will oscillate in unstable dynamical period-one (P1) oscillation. Through changing the injected strength, emitting wavelength and bias current of the FP-LD, the oscillating frequencies of the P1 state can be varied. Once one of the harmonic frequencies is adjusted to match the repetition frequency of injected optical clock pulse, the P1 oscillation will be locked, and then a divided clock at the fundamental frequency of the P1 oscillation can be generated. By utilizing this divider, we can achieve the optical clock frequency division of divide-by-two, -three and -four in a wide input frequency range, for instance, of 9.0 to 20.0 GHz for divide-by-two. The influence of injected optical power on the timing jitter of the divided clock is also investigated. It is expected that this frequency divider can be applied to high frequency division exceeding 100 GHz due to its fast P1 oscillation.  相似文献

In this paper, we optimize the inter-amplifier spacing in combination with duty cycle of RZ data format and EDFAs power so that link length of system can be maximized. The results for EDFA amplifier placement in 10 Gbps single channel dispersion managed optical communication system have been presented. By increasing the length of standard single mode fiber of dispersion 16 ps/nm/km in proportion to the increase in length of compensating fiber of dispersion −80 ps/nm/km, the pre-, post- and symmetrical-dispersion compensation schemes of the system have been compared. Further, schemes are observed at 8, 10 and 12 dBm values of EDFA power in the link with different duty cycle values of RZ optical pulse in the range of 0.2-0.8 with step size of 0.2 in relation to amplifier spacing to get lower value of bit error rate and timing jitter. The graphical results obtained show strong relationship among duty cycle of RZ optical pulse, EDFA power and, dispersion compensation scheme.  相似文献

A novel scheme to generate tunable dual-wavelength optical pulses with low timing jitter at arbitrary repetition rates is proposed and demonstrated experimentally. The pulses are generated from a gain-switched Fabry-Pérot laser diode with two external cw beams for injection seeding simultaneously. The cw light is generated by two independent distributed feedback laser diodes, and their wavelengths can be tuned independently by two temperature controllers. The dual-wavelength pulses with the pulse width of 57 ps, the timing jitter of 340 fs, are obtained. The sidemode-suppression ratio of the output pulses is better than 23dB over a 10-nm wavelength tuning range.  相似文献

We show the effect of varied order and width of super Gaussian pulse at 10 Gb/s in dispersion compensated optical communication system. The optical communication system consists of standard single-mode fiber of 16 ps/nm/km of a certain length, whose dispersion is compensated using pre-, post- and symmetrical-dispersion compensation schemes with proportionate length dispersion compensating fiber of −80 ps/nm/km. Performance of these three compensation schemes is compared at 14 dBm values of Er-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFA) power at 1st, 2nd and 3rd order RZ super Gaussian optical pulse. The pulse width, full width at half maximum (FWHM) is also varied from 5 to 30 ps to highlight the optimum performance. The graphical results obtained show a relationship among the attributes pulse width, order of RZ super Gaussian optical pulse and dispersion compensation scheme implemented. It shows that to decrease BER and timing jitter in the system, smaller width and 3rd order super Gaussian pulse should be used. It is recommended that to decrease dependency of BER and timing jitter in the communication system on the pulse width i.e. FWHM, the symmetrical compensation scheme should be implemented.  相似文献
