In this paper, a stage‐structured SI epidemic model with time delay and nonlinear incidence rate is investigated. By analyzing the corresponding characteristic equations, the local stability of an endemic equilibrium and a disease‐free equilibrium, and the existence of Hopf bifurcations are established. By comparison arguments, it is proved that if the basic reproduction number is less than unity, the disease‐free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable. If the basic reproduction number is greater than unity, by means of an iteration technique, sufficient conditions are obtained for the global asymptotic stability of the endemic equilibrium. An HIV/AIDS epidemic model with treatment is investigated. The model allows for some infected individuals to move from the symptomatic phase to the asymptomatic phase by all sorts of treatment methods. We first establish the ODE treatment model with two infective stages. Mathematical analyses establish that the global dynamics of the spread of the HIV infectious disease are completely determined by the basic reproduction number 00. If 0≤101, the disease-free equilibrium is globally stable, whereas the unique infected equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable if 0>10>1. Then, we introduce a discrete time delay to the model to describe the time from the start of treatment in the symptomatic stage until treatment effects become visible. The effect of the time delay on the stability of the endemically infected equilibrium is investigated. Moreover, the delay model exhibits Hopf bifurcations by using the delay as a bifurcation parameter. Finally, numerical simulations are presented to illustrate the results.  相似文献

This paper considers an epidemic model of a vector-borne disease which has direct mode of transmission in addition to the vector-mediated transmission. The incidence term is assumed to be of the bilinear mass-action form. We include both a baseline ODE version of the model, and, a differential-delay model with a discrete time delay. The ODE model shows that the dynamics is completely determined by the basic reproduction number R0. If R0?1, the disease-free equilibrium is globally stable and the disease dies out. If R0>1, a unique endemic equilibrium exists and is locally asymptotically stable in the interior of the feasible region. The delay in the differential-delay model accounts for the incubation time the vectors need to become infectious. We study the effect of that delay on the stability of the equilibria. We show that the introduction of a time delay in the host-to-vector transmission term can destabilize the system and periodic solutions can arise through Hopf bifurcation.  相似文献

A nonlinear mathematical model to study the effect of time delay in the recruitment of infected persons on the transmission dynamics of HIV/AIDS is proposed and analyzed. In modeling the dynamics, the population is divided into four subclasses: the susceptibles, the HIV positives or infectives that do not know they are infected, the HIV positives that know they are infected and the AIDS patients. Susceptibles are assumed to become infected via sexual contacts with (both types of) infectives. The model is analyzed using stability theory of delay differential equations. Both the disease-free and the endemic equilibria are found and their stability is investigated. It is shown that the introduction of time delay in the model has a destabilizing effect on the system and periodic solutions can arise by Hopf bifurcation. Numerical simulations are also carried out to investigate the influence of key parameters on the spread of the disease, to support the analytical conclusion and to illustrate possible behavioral scenario of the model.  相似文献

In this paper, we study a generalized predator‐prey model with delay and impulse. The existence of the predator‐free periodic solution is investigated. We employ the approach and techniques coming from epidemiology and calculate the basic reproduction number for the predator. Using the basic reproduction number, we consider the global attraction of the predator‐free periodic solution and permanence of the model. As for application, an example is discussed. Furthermore, some numerical simulations are given to illustrate our results.  相似文献

Analysis of a SIS epidemic model with stage structure and a delay   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
IntroductionAfter the pioneering work of Kermack-McKendrick on SIRS epidemiological models havebeen studied by many authorSll--31. There are some ldnds of disease which are only spread orhave more opportunities to be spread among children, for example, measles, chickenpox andscarlet fever, while others infectious diseases such as gonorrhea, swahilis are spread only amongadults. Consequently, realistic analysis of disease transmission in a population often requiresthe model to include stage …  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a three‐dimensional viral model with delay. We first investigate the linear stability and the existence of a Hopf bifurcation. It is shown that Hopf bifurcations occur as the delay τ passes through a sequence of critical values. Then, using the normal form theory and center manifold reduction, we derive the explicit formulaes that determine the stability, the direction, and the period of bifurcating periodic solutions. Numerical simulations are carried out to illustrate the validity of the main results. Finally, some brief conclusions are given. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a new epidemiological model with delay and relapse phenomena. Firstly, a basic reproduction number $R_0$ is identified, which serves as a threshold parameter for the stability of the equilibria of the model. Then, beginning with the delay-free model, the global asymptotic stability of the equilibria is obtained through the construction of suitable Lyapunov functions. For the delay model, the stability of the positive equilibrium and the existence of the local Hopf bifurcation are discussed. Furthermore, the application of the normal form theory and center manifold theorem is used to determine the direction and stability of these Hopf bifurcations. Finally, we shed light on corresponding biological implications from a numerical perspective. It turns out that time delay affects the stability of the positive equilibrium, leading to the occurrence of periodic oscillations and disease recurrence.  相似文献

In this letter, a discrete SIS (susceptible–infected–susceptible) epidemic model on complex networks is presented. Firstly, the non-negativity and the boundedness of solutions are studied. Secondly, the basic reproduction number R0 is calculated. Thirdly, applying the Lyapunov direct method of difference equations, the global asymptotic stability of disease free equilibrium is investigated. Finally, there give some simulations.  相似文献

A reaction-diffusion model with logistic type growth, nonlocal delay effect and Dirichlet boundary condition is considered, and combined effect of the time delay and nonlocal spatial dispersal provides a more realistic way of modeling the complex spatiotemporal behavior. The stability of the positive spatially nonhomogeneous positive equilibrium and associated Hopf bifurcation are investigated for the case of near equilibrium bifurcation point and the case of spatially homogeneous dispersal kernel.  相似文献

In this paper, we present an analysis for the class of delay differential equations with one discrete delay and the right‐hand side depending only on the past. We extend the results from paper by U. Fory? (Appl. Math. Lett. 2004; 17 (5):581–584), where the right‐hand side is a unimodal function. In the performed analysis, we state more general conditions for global stability of the positive steady state and propose some conditions for the stable Hopf bifurcation occurring when this steady state looses stability. We illustrate the analysis by biological examples coming from the population dynamics. Copyright © 2007 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

We proposed a nutrient-phytoplankton interaction model with a discrete and distributed time delay to provide a better understanding of phytoplankton growth dynamics and nutrient-phytoplankton oscillations induced by delay. Standard linear analysis indicated that delay can induce instability of a positive equilibrium via Hopf bifurcation. We derived the conditions guaranteeing the existence of Hopf bifurcation and tracked its direction and the stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions. We also obtained the sufficient conditions for the global asymptotic stability of the unique positive steady state. Numerical analysis in the fully nonlinear regime showed that the stability of the positive equilibrium is sensitive to changes in delay values under select conditions. Numerical results were consistent with results predicted by linear analysis.  相似文献

A delay ordinary deterministic differential equation model for the population dynamics of the malaria vector is rigorously analysed subject to two forms of the vector birth rate function: the Verhulst-Pearl logistic growth function and the Maynard-Smith-Slatkin function. It is shown that, for any birth rate function satisfying some assumptions, the trivial equilibrium of the model is globally-asymptotically stable if the associated vectorial reproduction number is less than unity. Further, the model has a non-trivial equilibrium which is locally-asymptotically stable under a certain condition. The non-trivial equilibrium bifurcates into a limit cycle via a Hopf bifurcation. It is shown, by numerical simulations, that the amplitude of oscillating solutions increases with increasing maturation delay. Numerical simulations suggest that the Maynard-Smith-Slatkin function is more suitable for modelling the vector population dynamics than the Verhulst-Pearl logistic growth model, since the former is associated with increased sustained oscillations, which (in our view) is a desirable ecological feature, since it guarantees the persistence of the vector in the ecosystem.  相似文献

In this paper, a tumor immune model with time delay is studied. First, the stability of nonnegative equilibria is analyzed. Then the time delay τ is selected as a bifurcation parameter and the existence of Hopf bifurcation is proved. Finally, by using the canonical method and the central manifold theory, the criteria for judging the direction and stability of Hopf bifurcation are given.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the classical mathematical model with saturation response of the infection rate and time delay. By stability analysis we obtain sufficient conditions for the global stability of the infection-free steady state and the permanence of the infected steady state. Numerical simulations are carried out to explain the mathematical conclusions.  相似文献
