Let D(?) be the Doob's class containing all functions f(z) analytic in the unit disk Δ such that f(0) = 0 and lim inf¦f(z) ¦ ? 1 on an arc A of ?Δ with length ¦A ¦? ?. It is first proved that if f?D(?) then the spherical norm ∥ f ∥ = supz?Δ(1 ? ¦z¦2)¦f′(z)¦(1 + ¦f(z)¦2) ? C1sin(π ? (?2))/ (π ? (g92)), where C1 = limn→∞∥ znand12 < C1 < 2e. Next, U represents the Seidel's class containing all non-constant functions f(z) bounded analytic in Δ such that ¦tf(ei0)¦ = 1 almost everywhere. It is proved that inff?Uf∥ = 0, and if f has either no singularities or only isolated singularities on ?Δ, then ∥f∥ ? C1. Finally, it is proved that if f is a function normal in Δ, namely, the norm ∥f∥< ∞, then we have the sharp estimate ∥fp∥ ? pf∥, for any positive integer p.  相似文献

Let U, V be two strongly continuous one-parameter groups of bounded operators on a Banach space X with corresponding infinitesimal generators S, T. We prove the following: ∥Ut, ? Vt ∥ = O(t), t → 0, if and only if U = V; ∥Ut ? Vt∥ = O(tα), t → 0; with 0 ? α ? 1, if and only if S = Ω(T + P)Ω?1, where Ω, P, are bounded operators on X such that ∥UtΩ ? ΩUt∥ = O(tα), ∥UtP ? PUt∥ = ?O(tα), t → 0; ∥Ut ? Vt∥ = O(t) if and only if S1 ? T1 has a bounded extension to X1. Further results of this nature are inferred for semigroups, reflexive spaces, Hilbert spaces, and von Neumann algebras.  相似文献

The Schur product of two n×n complex matrices A=(aij), B=(bij) is defined by A°B=(aijbij. By a result of Schur [2], the algebra of n×n matrices with Schur product and the usual addition is a commutative Banach algebra under the operator norm (the norm of the operator defined on Cn by the matrix). For a fixed matrix A, the norm of the operator B?A°B on this Banach algebra is called the Schur multiplier norm of A, and is denoted by ∥Am. It is proved here that ∥A∥=∥U1AU∥m for all unitary U (where ∥·∥ denotes the operator norm) iff A is a scalar multiple of a unitary matrix; and that ∥Am=∥A∥ iff there exist two permutations P, Q, a p×p (1?p?n) unitary U, an (n?p)×(n?p)1 contraction C, and a nonnegative number λ such that
A=λPU00CQ;
and this is so iff ∥A°A?∥=∥A∥2, where ā is the matrix obtained by taking entrywise conjugates of A.  相似文献

Let A and B be uniformly elliptic operators of orders 2m and 2n, respectively, m > n. We consider the Dirichlet problems for the equations (?2(m ? n)A + B + λ2nI)u? = f and (B + λ2nI)u = f in a bounded domain Ω in Rk with a smooth boundary ?Ω. The estimate ∥ u? ? u ∥L2(Ω) ? C? ¦ λ ¦?2n + 1(1 + ? ¦ λ ¦)?1 ∥ f ∥L2(Ω) is derived. This result extends the results of [7, 9, 10, 12, 14, 15, 18]by giving estimates up to the boundary, improving the rate of convergence in ?, using lower norms, and considering operators of higher order with variable coefficients. An application to a parabolic boundary value problem is given.  相似文献

We show how inequalities of the type ∥F∥p ? C(p, q) a1 + (1p)? (1q) ∥ F ′ ∥q′ when F(0) = 0 can be used to find lower bounds of the first eigenvalue of the integral equation F(z) = λ0ak(s, z)F(s) ds.  相似文献

Let X1, X2, X3, … be i.i.d. r.v. with E|X1| < ∞, E X1 = μ. Given a realization X = (X1,X2,…) and integers n and m, construct Yn,i, i = 1, 2, …, m as i.i.d. r.v. with conditional distribution P1(Yn,i = Xj) = 1n for 1 ? j ? n. (P1 denotes conditional distribution given X). Conditions relating the growth rate of m with n and the moments of X1 are given to ensure the almost sure convergence of (1mmi=1 Yn,i toμ. This equation is of some relevance in the theory of Bootstrap as developed by Efron (1979) and Bickel and Freedman (1981).  相似文献

Let O = limnZ/pnZ, let A = O[g2, g3]Δ, where g2 and g3 are coefficients of the elliptic curve: Y2 = 4X3 ? g2X ? g3 over a finite field and Δ = g23 ? 27g32 and let B = A[X, Y](Y2 ? 4X3 + g2X + g3). Then the p-adic cohomology theory will be applied to compute explicitly the zeta matrices of the elliptic curves, induced by the pth power map on the free A2?ZQ-module H1(X, A2?ZQ). Main results are; Theorem 1.1: X2dY and YdX are basis elements for H1(X, ΓA1(X)2?ZQ); Theorem 1.2: YdX, X2dY, Y?1dX, Y?2dX and XY?2dX are basis elements for H1(X ? (Y = 0), ΓA1(X)2?ZQ), where X is a lifting of X, and all the necessary recursive formulas for this explicit computation are given.  相似文献

The following estimate of the pth derivative of a probability density function is examined: Σk = 0Na?khk(x), where hk is the kth Hermite function and a?k = ((?1)pn)Σi = 1nhk(p)(Xi) is calculated from a sequence X1,…, Xn of independent random variables having the common unknown density. If the density has r derivatives the integrated square error converges to zero in the mean and almost completely as rapidly as O(n?α) and O(n?α log n), respectively, where α = 2(r ? p)(2r + 1). Rates for the uniform convergence both in the mean square and almost complete are also given. For any finite interval they are O(n?β) and O(n2log n), respectively, where β = (2(r ? p) ? 1)(2r + 1).  相似文献

Let X be a Gaussian rv with values in a separable Hilbert space H having a covariance operator R of the form R = L01A1AL0, where L0, A are linear operators on H. A method is given for computing in terms of R0 = L01L0 and A the distribution of |X|2, |·| being the norm in H. The result is applied to the evaluation of the asymptotic distribution of Cramér-von Mises statistics when parameters are present. L0 corresponds to the case where the true underlying parameter is known and A represents the effect of estimating the unknown parameter.  相似文献

Let α ? 0 and let D(α) = {f(z) = ∑0αnzn ¦ ∑0 (n + 1)α¦ an ¦ < ∞}. Then D(α) is a subalgebra of l1. We discuss the weak-1 generators of D(α). We use some of our techniques to prove that if ? is a weak-1 generator of H and ∥ ? ∥ ? 1, then the composition operator C? on the Dirichlet space has dense range.  相似文献

If φL, we denote by Tφ the functional defined on the Hardy space H1 by
Tφ(?) = π ?(e) φ(e)
. Let Sφ be the set of functions in H1 which satisfy Tφ(?) = ∥Tφand ∥? ∥1 ? 1. It is known that if φ is continuous, then Sφ is weak-1 compact and not empty. For many noncontinuous φ each Sφ is weak-1 compact and not empty. A complete descr ption of Sφ if Sφ is weak-1 compact and not empty is obtained. Sφ is not empty if and only if Sφ = Sψandψ = ¦ ?¦? for some nonzero ? in H1. It is shown that if φ = ¦? ¦? and ? = pg, where p is an analytic polynomial and g is a strong outer function, then Sφ is weak-1 compact. As the consequence, if ? = p, then Sφ is weak-1 compact.  相似文献

Let C(S) be the space of real-valued continuous functions on a compact metric space S. Let {Xn, n ? 1} be a sequence of independent identically distributed C(S)-valued random variables with mean zero and supt?sE[X12(t)] = 1. We show that the measures induced by (X1 + ··· + Xn) n?12 converge weakly to a Gaussian measure on C(S) under different conditions on X1, one of which consolidates and extends results of Strassen and Dudley, Giné, and Dudley. Our method of proof is different from the methods employed by these authors.  相似文献

Let Xi be iidrv's and Sn=X1+X2+…+Xn. When EX21<+∞, by the law of the iterated logarithm (Snn)(n log n)12→0 a.s. for some constants αn. Thus the r.v. Y=supn?1[|Snn|?(δn log n)12]+ is a.s.finite when δ>0. We prove a rate of convergence theorem related to the classical results of Baum and Katz, and apply it to show, without the prior assumption EX21<+∞ that EYh<+∞ if and only if E|X1|2+h[log|X1|]-1<+∞ for 0<h<1 and δ> hE(X1?EX1)2, whereas EYh=+∞ whenever h>0 and 0<δ<hE(X1?EX1)2.  相似文献

Let PT denote the orthogonal projection of L2(R1, ) onto the space of entire functions of exponential type ? T which are square summable on the line with respect to the measure dΔ(γ) = ¦ h(γ)¦2, and let G denote the operator of multiplication by a suitably restricted complex valued function g. It is shown that if 2 + 1)?1log ¦ h(γ)¦ is summable, if ¦ h ¦?2 is locally summable, and if hh# belongs to the span in L of e?iyTH:T ? 0, in which h is chosen to be an outer function and h#(γ) agrees with the complex conjugate of h(γ) on the line, then
lim traceT↑∞{(PTGPT)n ? PTGnPT}
exists and is independent of h for every positive integer n. This extends the range of validity of a formula due to Mark Kac who evaluated this limit in the special case h = 1 using a different formalism. It also extends earlier results of the author which were established under more stringent conditions on h. The conclusions are based in part upon a preliminary study of a more general class of projections.  相似文献

We show that if X is a finite CW-complex admitting a fixed point free involution then there is a singly graded spectral sequence with E11 ? H1(X;Z2) and E1∞ = 0. As an application we prove that for any n > 0 there is a natural number k(n) such that if n > k(n) and X is a homotopy RPn+kRPn, then X will not admit a fixed point free involution.  相似文献

Let {Xn} be a stationary Gaussian sequence with E{X0} = 0, {X20} = 1 and E{X0Xn} = rnn Let cn = (2ln n)built12, bn = cn? 12c-1n ln(4π ln n), and set Mn = max0 ?k?nXk. A classical result for independent normal random variables is that
P[cn(Mn?bn)?x]→exp[-e-x] as n → ∞ for all x.
Berman has shown that (1) applies as well to dependent sequences provided rnlnn = o(1). Suppose now that {rn} is a convex correlation sequence satisfying rn = o(1), (rnlnn)-1 is monotone for large n and o(1). Then
P[rn-12(Mn ? (1?rn)12bn)?x] → Ф(x)
for all x, where Ф is the normal distribution function. While the normal can thus be viewed as a second natural limit distribution for {Mn}, there are others. In particular, the limit distribution is given below when rn is (sufficiently close to) γ/ln n. We further exhibit a collection of limit distributions which can arise when rn decays to zero in a nonsmooth manner. Continuous parameter Gaussian processes are also considered. A modified version of (1) has been given by Pickands for some continuous processes which possess sufficient asymptotic independence properties. Under a weaker form of asymptotic independence, we obtain a version of (2).  相似文献

Let ψ1, …,ψN be orthonormal functions in Rd and let ui = (?Δ)?12ψi, or ui = (?Δ + 1)?12ψi, and let p(x) = ∑¦ui(x)¦2. Lp bounds are proved for p, an example being ∥p∥p ? AdN1pfor d ? 3, with p = d(d ? 2)?1. The unusual feature of these bounds is that the orthogonality of the ψi, yields a factor N1p instead of N, as would be the case without orthogonality. These bounds prove some conjectures of Battle and Federbush (a Phase Cell Cluster Expansion for Euclidean Field Theories, I, 1982, preprint) and of Conlon (Comm. Math. Phys., in press).  相似文献
